After watching this I’m inclined to think the Morryde products are the way to go. The name of the game in reducing the shock delivered to the trailer by a road impact is suspension travel. The longer the distance that absorbs that shock the less of it is likely to be transmitted. The Morryde units seem to offer a lot more travel than the competitors and thus would be my preferred choice after watching this. It would be great if you and E-Trailer could instrument a travel trailer and then drive it on a test loop with each of these suspensions fitted to get some true real world data on their performance.
Excellent comparison and review of these components JD. Our Keystone Cougar came with the Lippert Road Armor but with only standard shackle straps, bolts and the Never Fail nylon bushings. I kept the Road Armor Equalizers but replaced the hardware with the MORryde shackle straps, wet bolts, and brass bushings.
we put the dexter ez flex set up on our 28 ft 7500 lb travel trailer and it is awesome. noticed difference in ride quality right away, rides so much better
When we bought our Surveyor Luxury 251RKS in 2020, the Morr-Ryde was a factory option. We had to buy from dealer stock and then added the CRE3000. Very glad we did. We put 7k + miles per year and just lube the suspension each year.
I have a 2017 Heartland Road Warrior triple axle Toyhauler that had the CRE 3000 equalizers on it when I purchased it. I did just recently upgrade to the Morryde heavy duty shackles with the greaseable "wet bolts" I also added the Morryde crossmember on the rear most axle of my 3 axles to strengthen and tie together the shackles mounts, especially when making tight turns backing.
I have a 3 axle 5th wheel that I upgraded with the Dexter EZ-flex. After many years in service, the rubber blocks have split. When I bought the kit, it came with a lifetime warranty.
Excellent synopsis on these components! I upgraded my 2006 Weekend Warrior SLC3905 Tri-Axles with the Dexter system and really loved it. Now, with our GD Reflection 320MKS, I feel alot better about the CRE3000 being on there. I wish we had the money to upgrade to the MorRyde IS!!! I wish, though, you had covered the suspension hangers a little in depth, because as with anywhere you add beefier components something else has to bear the brunt, as well as the springs themselves because there are way more suspension failures with these two items than anything else.
Cre3000,1/2 " wet bolt shackle straps, 6 Goodyear Endurance tires, I carry 2 spares,, total cost with tires, under 2 grand.. After 6k miles, I don't know why more do the upgrade. Piece of mind especially out west where there aree miles of nothing and less stress on your rig. As a rv tech I tell my customers to upgrade, you won't regret it.
I have the dexter ez flex on my 8.5x16 enclosed trailer and they work great. It rides a bit smoother than the stock equalizer. Also I run 7k dexter axles.
Thank you for all the information I have them all right. I bought an alliance Ballard 37. Is there anything else you think I should do thank you for your assistance😊
I feel like this is one of your biggest videos. If you want to repeat the success you could do similar comparisons between other things you frequently check like trailer tires or frames etc. 👍
CRE3000 When I had mine installed in an Outbac, I forgot a coofee cup on the counter. The roads home in Commiefornia are crap. Parking is interesting as on a hill but when I went inside, the coffee cup was still on the counter! Sold on the upgrade with 1/2 shackel straps. However after a 6000 mile road trip I noticed the strap had dented the cre300 quite a bit. I40 strikes again!
Man I wish this came out a week ago! I just got the CRE3000 to install on my new trailer. Was gonna do it myself but to save time the dealer is gonna do it. Seriously interested in the road armor shock system and slipper springs in the future.
My 2011 Montana 5er came with MorRyde LRE4000 (YES, "LRE") which utilize a fixed center equalizer with a very large high durometer rubber shear spring to allow articulation and damping. Not available for after market however. Also using an X brace and Roadmaster Comfort Ride shocks. Provides a very nice ride!
When I did this upgrade I found that the only setup that fit was the Dexter. I've got a Heritage Glen 286RL with a 33inch axel spread. The Morryde products did not fit so had to go with Dexter EZ Flex. Measure before you buy!!
I dont think you can go wrong with most of these upgraded components. I have an Outdoor RV with the Cre3000 with upgraded shackles and wet bolts, plus KYB shocks on each tire on my 29trx. It pulls like a dream.
Torsion would likely win out EXCEPT in the area of equalization. Torsion axles do not equalize weight and can sometimes cause an excessive amount of tongue weight.
WOW, fantastic video. I just subscribed. Very comprehensive yet in Laymans terms so everybody can understand. Look forward to checking out more content on your channel. I have a steel 7 x 16 cargo trailer converted to toy hauler.
So, I see most all of them have different distances from the hole centers on the ends (where the leaf spring shackles bolt to). Can they all be interchanged on any given travel trailer? Do the angles of the shackles compensate for the hole to hole differences in distance?
Thanks for posting! I'm not interested in upgrading a leaf spring suspension system, but given that there are so many more travel trailers in my price range that have leaf springs (and I'm not buying a trailer with a leaf spring), how difficult/expensive (assuming it's even possible) might it be to replace a leaf spring suspension with a Dexter torsion bar suspension? Thanks!
Hello, thank you for the detailed video, it was very well done. I just installed a Reese Goosebox on a new (to me) 5th-wheel camper I just got. After installing the Goosebox I have found that the camper is not riding level and is sitting nose high. I can't lower the nose because I am already at only a 6" gap between my truck and the trailer. I also prefer not to flip the axles on the trailer to raise it that much. I was curious if any of the options you went over in this video would raise the camper ride height and help level out the trailer. It looks like maybe the AllTrek would with how much taller the device is. Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated!!
When will liquid springs offer a suspension for trailers. You would think they would offer one for 5th wheels too. Have you driven a truck or motorhome with the liquid springs on them yet. Most people that have them like them.
Curious to know if Morryde AllTrek 4000 is replacing the SRE4000 in their product lineup. I have the SRE4000 and haven't had issues with it but wondering if the AllTrek has advantages worth considering.
JD, did you end up installing the equa-flex? Curious on an update on that? I’ve got a 36’ travel trailer and really need to upgrade the suspension. etrailer seemed to recommend the Morryde system on one of the post I read but I can’t decide which one to go with. Are you able to sell any of those to your subscribers by chance?
Agreed, and why do travel trailers ride 36" from roadway to floor? It is exponential more safe to have a lower center of gravity like you find on horse trailers.
@@robertpolkamp you must only travel on the freeways. Ever pull off on forest service roads or boondock? Even a steep driveway will cause the rear of the trailer to drag. I NEED ground clearance. ORV trailer pulls like a dream.
Curious if you have any experience or thoughts on a lift system for a 5th wheel? I have been very frustrated with trying to find a safe and reliable solution to get my truck and trailer level going down the road. My pin box is bolted as high inside the frame mount as possible. And my B&W companion is set a low in the trunk as possible. Stock Ram dually is the tow rig. Still out of level by at least 1.5 inches. Just looking for any thoughts or suggestions. Love the suspension video!
Could try the Morryde IS system (very expensive but worth it) OR possibly their SRE4000 with the XBrace system. It raises the RV about 1-1.5". Put a taller tire/wheel on and you might be where you need to be.
Hey JD! Would you consider putting any of these on your Texas Pride utility trailer or do you feel like it will not be a big enough benefit to do so? I've been considering upgrading the suspension on my Sure-Trac Landscape trailer but didn't know if it made sense or not. I'm leaning more towards not.
I wouldn't be able to because it's a completely different design of equalizer. Equalizer on my Texas pride trailers is a c channel that is about 16" long.
Our kz toyhauler came with the equaflex rocker boxes from the factory...doesn't have the thicker shackle straps or wet bolts though, probably gonna install those this spring. Rides nice
I installed the CRE3000 on my GD 22MLE and was unable to tell a difference. Installation was based purely on trust. So, how do you tell if there is a benefit?
You made some assumptions on how the LCI equalizers are built. I'm thinking opening them up might be interesting. It looks to me as if the equaflex has 2 pivot points, and the road armor has 2 arms. I'd love to know for sure.
I'd go with the MORryde Independent Suspension System with the Disc Brakes. Stay Away From The SUMO Springs, they have been a demise of several frames!!!
I've only seen 1 example of a frame section that was damaged indirectly due to the owners pulling the Fifth wheel into an area that stressed the entire suspension.
Saw one channel where they had frame damage on their 5th wheel and the factory blamed the damage on Sumo springs because they said it stiffened the frame more than it was designed for.
At that age, it probably wouldn't hurt to replace the leaf springs. The eyelets at the ends can sometimes wear out. Also, I would suggest having the hangers reinforced. The Cre3000 or Road Armor would be good upgrades for your fifth wheel.
How do you determine it rides better with one of these installed? Can you feel it in the truck, does someone ride in the trailer, some sort of vibration instrumentation?
@@BTBRVReviews You're in a position to test the performance of these different parts on one of your trailers and get some actual data on what they do instead of seat of the pants opinions.

Great video! In your opinion, which upgrade was the single most impactful towards reducing cabin shock? Equilizers or Sumo Springs
I have had the cre3000 welds break on my alliance 5th wheel. Replaced with alltrek4000. Crazy how much beefier that set up is.
Wish you would have included the Road Master 2570 Trailer Suspension Comfort Ride or at least add the shocks to the ones you did test.

kinda curious what your thoughts on the Timbren tandem axle silent ride trailer suspension
I believe it only works with fully boxed frame sections..
Equaflex looks interesting
How about the addition of gas shocks to these units?
What is the purpose of the leaf springs? It seems redundant to add these, and like there are more failure points to worry about
Springs adjust for total weight. Equalizers adapt to how the trailer sits on the road. They literally equalize between axles.
