KYLE LAMAN that should’ve been the name used in this title. His testimony was so vivid. I can’t even begin to possibly fathom seeing what he saw living what he went through. I hope he can heal from this trauma and I wish him so much peace and happiness he’s so brave to become an EMT. I literally want to cry right now.
WII it was a common thing: my grandpa enlisted when he was 17. Propaganda is a powerful thing. Imagine D-Day. The Germans had weapons even more serious. Now they’ve advanced more so. Do we really want to give up our only decent weapons as the only line of defense when our government could easily turn on us?
This kid was literally born with a purpose. He didn’t choose it, but it’s clear how bad the world needs him, and I bet he can feel it. *His life will be beautiful.*
@@chrisking6695 I actually liked how u reframed this, I completely agree, ultimately his path is his decision. The tragedy itself wasn’t chosen, but what he did afterwards was his choice
This is gutting. When he said he told his friend “we’re gonna die” I got chills. So traumatizing. And hearing him say he saw lots of bodies in the hallway. I cannot imagine what it’s like to have to talk about it. I really hope he’s taking care of himself.
Yeah, just seeing the distress on his face and his hands shaking when he was on the podium, poor kid, it had to be so traumatizing to live through that and then have to recount all the details of it. I, too, hope he is taking care of himself and is getting the help and support he needs.
Bless his heart. he will make a very good EMT because he has compassion and KNOWS what it is like to be injured and scared. It's a great thing he chose a career that SAVES lives.
yes God has a plan for this brave young man. He will be vital in helping others in the future. It sounds like he came so close to being obliterated by that creep cruz.
That’s what I’m talking about someone helping a gunshot victim who’s actually been shot at and shot... he hasn’t read it in a book “ How to calm down a shooting victim in 4 Easy Steps “ the first words outta his mouth can be “ he man or girl I know what your feeling I was shot at MSD “ those words go a long way in calming a victim.
I saw the picture of his ankle on Instagram. How he managed to run out of the building with a completely shattered ankle blown out is just incredible. Adrenaline really is a hell of a drug. Glad he made it out and that he's getting stronger every day, physically and metaphorically. I bet he was anxious beyond belief up on the stand but seeing him crack his knuckles and stare down the coward who shot him must have been so cathartic. Brave man, bravo
When he described how Joaquin was trying to find a way out, I instantly got sad because Joaquin was one of the kids who didn't survive this massacre. Just Sad‼️

You can tell he's struggling emotionally while recalling the events of that day, it's so traumatizing, and yet he's really trying to hold it together. Commendable that's he's training to be a paramedic, and I hope is able to heal emotionally from all this.
@@timidsore7933 some people smile when talking about trauma, it’s their bodies way of trying to remain calm or utter disbelief that it happened. There’s actually a psychological explanation that explains why he’s reacting the way he’s reacting and it’s typically a sign of PTSD. His body does one thing but his mind is in another place. Very common with survivors that don’t express their sensitivity physically and try to fight it off emotionally. It’s a “conscious or unconscious attempt to stave off compassionate responses that feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable to survivors”. Google is free, do your research on body language, survivors guilt, etc. you can also tell his breathing Is a little labored, not necessarily deep breathes, body language shows signs of stress, hands and certain parts of his body shaking, that’s anxiety. It’s just simply him trying to remain calm. But you’re clearly oblivious
There is no excuse to hurt people. Period. I think you re trying to say that past trauma is not an explanation for violent behavior ? We will never know what the outcome of this trauma will be- too many victims- too many variables.
@@chelsealavaya7263 I think he means there are a huge variety of traumas that affect people in different ways - even with this single awful event the survivors will experience different consequences. These kids will have psychological support, and I think Wheelchairguy means that not everyone gets that to help them deal with trauma.
@@chelsealavaya7263 it means that multiple trauma especially very young when your brain is developping can give different results. Some horribles. The shooter obviously didn’t believe in love and only saw hatred and wanted to hurt. Trauma can give only some explanation. Give some understanding. But explanation is not at all the same as excuse. There is NO excuse for what happened. The shooter is a danger to society and will receive his deserved sentence.
It kills my heart watching these testimonies from the kids. You can see how traumatized they are talking about this incident. Like you can see the anxiety on his face. I could NOT even begin to imagine.
He keeps having twitches and tics, his body involuntary moving/tensing muscles. Tics like that (as in, tics that aren't caused by tourettes) are the body's way of trying to show/express the anxiety and trauma inside. It's so heartbreaking to see a young person who's been traumatised like that. I hope he's still able to follow his dreams and go to EMT school
You can see his hands shaking after they show him the pictures … it’s annoying we can’t see the evidence as it’s booked in. How does the jury even see it? Brave kid - can’t even imagine running on that ankle, let alone 3 flipping flights of stairs 😱😱😱🙏👍
I lived like three houses from Kyle. I still have the video from when they brought him home, all the cops and paramedics lined up the street. I remember seeing his foot and him telling my wife & I the story of him making eye contact with shooter. My prayers will always be with him and his family. All I remember is how happppy his parents were to have him home. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I think the majority changed through trauma, they go to therapy and most likely have permanent ptsd. I don't think anyone moves on from something this intense, you just know there is a life worth living.
nope not all of them at all. A student Sydney Aiello took her own life as a result of this and there was a male student as well who took his own life as a result of this. Many more were/are too fearful to attend college, etc. So not not ALLL
To have the courage to run into a hallway where it’s only you and the murderer, while everyone else is far too scared, rightfully so, to even move…is the biggest example of courage I have ever seen. What a man. Fearless beyond measure.
You can see while he's giving his testimony he has quick flashbacks and then he comes back to reality and you see his eyes change when he comes back. Most people probably don't notice this unless they too have ptsd or dissociative episodes. Sometimes the episodes people experience last a few seconds, other times it's minutes and in less often cases hours. As someone who also experience flash backs and dissociative episodes my heart goes out to this kid.
I’d like to give this young man a hug and tell him how proud I am of him. The fact that he is able to feel comfortable enough to talk while in the same room as the guy that inflicted this trauma on him is beyond me. I know that he’s safe and if nickolas even tried to stand he’d get tackled but it’s pretty incredible

I've spent the last few days watching every video I can, every victim statement, every testimony. Even though it's extremely hard for me to hear these things, I cry so much, I feel it's important for me to see the reality of what's happening to our country. What's the world coming to? How does this keep being allowed to happen?
Agreed, I have also spent hours watching listening and crying. I am in shock and grief for all the victims and their families and wonder how they can get beyond this, if ever. After looking at coverage of the shooter himself, it seems he really doesnt have a clue, his empty faces with no blinking, no expressions. To me it represents the absolute failure the educational system has fallen to, and I fear, also symbolizes the depth of the breach in the functioning of the nation as a whole. I am in my 70s.
I am watching this as an American living in a country in Europe. The people here don't live or think like us Americans. They shake their heads at the madness in the US and pity us as a nation. They see us as a nation that used to be great. They are shaking their heads in horror and saying thank God I don't Iive in the US. Schoolkids don't live in fear of being shot and they don't have fancy security systems. Americans like to scream "guns don't kill, people do" but honesty, all Europeans know that's just a smokescreen crap argument. The laws here are extremely stringent and its so hard to get a gun, even a hunting rifle. If you want a gun you must undergo a strict psychological examination. We live in safety because of that. There are shootings but it's an extremely rare occurrence. I've also lived in Japan, a country with little crime and almost zero gun violence outside the Japanese mafia. I have to say it's an amazing thing to live in a country with little to no gun violence. It makes you never want to live in the US again.

Amen!
Absolutely heartbreaking. How strong is he, he wasn’t even sure he’d be able to walk again but still had to the power to run out after being shot in the ankle? How is that possible. I wouldn’t have his strength
This young man is so brave to get up there and tell his story.
I like how he never said the POS’s name. Only called him a shooter. No need to even mention his name
The witnesses are instructed by the court to not used his name or derogatory words. I think they have a list of words they can use .
I hope someone reminds Kyle every day or every time he has doubts, that his experience was not his fault. What an incredibly brave man.
Just want to hug that young man. Thinking of all of the victims and their families. God give them strength.
Poor kiddo. It’s obvious he’s struggling talking about it. He was brave to escape and with a shattered ankle. Bless him. Such a tragic and sad event for all the victims and their families 💔🙏🏼😔
I mean I would be nervous too. Look at all those people their in the court room. My voice would be so shaky. I got social anxiety so I probably wouldn’t be able to do what he’s doing at all
Oh my lordy, this young man reminds me so much of my son. A big, gentle Teddy bear of a kid. Absolutely tragic. Life is a gift. Kudos to all these survivors, my heart goes out to them and all the victims and the families. THEY are the important ones, not that despicable shooter. Kyle Laman, best wishes for you in the future.
Sorry but mentioning his body is a little odd…
What a brave young man. He showed concern for his friend and others. He has chosen a very needed field to care for those who are hurting. May God bless him.
God obviously has blessed him with his life
I’m proud of him for going up there and saying what happened. He’s already experienced one of the most awful things I’ve ever heard of, so I wish him the best of luck in his career. EMTs are badasses
You can’t be proud of something you had nothing to do with.
It breaks my heart that he was with Joaquin Oliver but only one of them survived.
My heart goes out to this young man and his family and all the victims of this incredibly tragic day
Imagine taking the stand to tell your horrific story....all the while the p.o.s who did it...is sitting right there....
You can literally see him shaking. He survived a lot he’s a strong young man
I can't imagine sitting in the same room with the monster who personally attempted to murder you. SO. MUCH. COURAGE.
Lord have mercy! We need healing for these students, teachers and all the family and everyone who has been through this kind of evil.
They need to help the next school shooting victims.....and I’m sure it’s being planned today yesterday tomorrow... it’s only a countdown...
I’m here because of the Georgia shooting.. and days after there’s threats everywhere in many other highschools.. My younger sister got alerted by email by the district of a shooter attempting to hit the school tomorrow?? Like this is hell.. I worry now more than ever about the safety of these kids.. my baby sister.. her friends .. my neighbors teens.. gosh this is really scary
My heart goes out to this young man, I can visually see his hand shaking. I am happy he is using this horrific experience and using it to be a paramedic/EMT.
You can see him visibly shaking recalling what happened. Amazing he is going to be an EMT. Speaks volumes about their resilience. I can’t imagine going what he’s been through. So sad may he find peace.
7:53 you can see how stressed he was and his hands were shaking I’m so sorry this happened rest in peace to all☹️🕊️🪦💔
I can see the signs of trauma. This young man will have PTSD and be very paranoid for the rest of his life. I'm so sorry for what you went through and continue to go through sir. I'm sorry for all the lives effected in the situation; and I pray a light of hope will shine over you all. Heal up in peace. 🙏🌹
His resilience is inspiring. I don’t even know his name but I feel proud of him for being able to give his testimony in front of the shooter. Its touching that he wants to be a EMT and help save lives. I just wanna give him a hug and let him know how brave he is. I hope he knows how brave he truly is.
you can tell that it’s all replaying back in his head and it’s hard for him to tell the story again. i’m so sorry that this ever happened to any of you guys.
His body language is full of ptsd, twitches, and shakes. Im so glad he’s going to be an EMT! This type of work will help his trauma. It will give himself relief and healing while helping someone else with their trauma
Hats off to all the strong boys and girls who encountered this terrible incident RIP to all the poor babies who lost there life's that day and thank you to all the teachers who went the extra mile to save children while putting themselves in danger as a father as a man as a human I could not imagine having to go threw this nor do I want to
It sucks seeing such a young person talking about such traumas
no one should ever have to experience this kind of trauma, much less children.
I hope this brave man is in therapy. You can tell by the scabs on his knuckles he’s hitting things. He also keeps rubbing his hands and taking deep breaths, this poor man is in so much trauma. He looks at Cruz a couple times with daggers in his eyes, understandable of course. But I hope he can really work on this trauma.
Noticed the looks. Needs to be a option to get in a room 1 v 1 with your suspect
Kyle is showing signs of PTSD. My heart goes out to him-prayers for his recovery.
PTSD can be a living hell. Props to this young man for keeping his composure, that's almost impossible.
He’s going to school to be an EMT. Whether or not his career choice was due to this tragedy, it’s even sadder knowing so many other kids were killed that day who could’ve gone on to have similarly helpful careers.
Hopefully he can carry on some of their legacies and hold their memories close to his heart.
He ran even with his ankle blown off!? That’s insane, I can’t even stub my toe without rolling around on the floors. Props to this man big time!
Prayers for this young and brave man. He is still suffering about this a lot. Heartbreaking to see his hands shaking while he recalls the moment. You are loved Kyle.
he was an amazing witness. it’s unfortunate he and everyone else had to go through that, but he’s helping more than he could know.
The fact that he was running for his life while his ankle was blown off, the fear and adrenaline masked the pain. That poor kid jesus christ
It's amazing how in many of these survival stories, the victim is running around all while suffering from horrible gun shot wounds. The amazing will of these kids to fight to stay alive is incredible
