There’s clearly a slight language barrier here. However her testimony is key bc the jury needs to hear her opinion of his mind frame. It was 2018, we all have GPS on our phones by 2018 especially someone like a driver, so that’s just redundant. U
I agree with you. I don't think some of those questions were coming out the right way. Which was causing her to answer them in a way that was probably confusing the jury.
I think the answer he was looking for was "The passenger types in the destination in the app when they request a ride" or something along those lines to show premeditation - he knew exactly where he was going and how to get there (as evidenced by him telling her not to follow GPS instructions). Unfortunately I think the intention didn't come through well which confused her.

Ridiculous level of questioning regarding the workings of Uber. Everyone is aware that everything is done through the driver's phone. No wonder this foregone conclusion of a Trial is going to take 4 months.
it's not really a trial cause he plead guilty it is the sentencing hearing. The details are important because he is claiming insanity and the prosecutor is trying to prove that it was premeditated and he knew exactly what he was doing. This testimony proves he was of sound mind, not talking to the "voices" he claims he was, and was calculated and cold in what he did. Death penalty is deserved.
The judge said 4 months and agree some of this questioning is ridiculous about how Uber works I know it’s the way it’s done but doesn’t make it nonsense nonetheless
It's a relevant detail that explains how they met. While it does seem trivial, because it is, they still need to say it so that it's on record. That way if someone is reviewing the case in 50 years after Uber has folded they can understand what's going on.
Lawyers are so annoying! Making this cute little grandma explain how Uber works when they should already know how it works. It's like they've been living under a rock for the past 10 years.
That’s what they’re determining… he has already plead guilty. This is a sentencing trial to determine if death or life in prison without parole is appropriate. That’s what the jurors are deciding.
We should bring back the electric chair specially for school shooters. This is getting out of hand. I also think it should be illegal for the media to address his name when covering the case. We shouldn’t be giving him any recognition which is what he wants .
It is ridiculous how N Cruz is looking at documents and making notes - whatever for ? He is guilty end of story - he should not only sit there but have the courage and the balls to look at the people he made their life a misery instead of holding his head down. May he rot in jail.

They waste so much time here asking this poor woman how a ride-share service works. It comes through the phone. End of story.

they had years to decide if they want to testify for closure. they're all choosing to do this. this is to push the penalty higher so they're doing a good thing
He's already pled guilty. This is not a trial to find him guilty, it's because the prosecutor is asking for the death penalty. Defense is asking for life in prison.
The prosecutor doesn’t seem to understand Uber well. I drove Uber part-time for 8 years in Philly. Initially, he’s asking her to read from documents produced by Uber which did not appear necessarily on her phone. For example, he’s showing her documents from the Uber records listing for “Nikolas Cruz.” For privacy reasons, the app doesn’t disclose last names. Her app screen would instruct her to pick up “Nikolas C.” Her court subpoena summons obviously says “Florida v. Nikolas Cruz” now. At the time, she wouldn’t have known his last name. Unrelated issue: I understand the presumption of innocence during the guilt phase to prohibit presumptively innocent defendants from wearing prison garb in front of the jury. However, Cruz already pleaded guilty and court is in the penalty phase. Jury already knows Cruz is staying in prison. Why dress him up in different preppy sweaters daily when we know he’s an admitted murderer now?
@@diamonddog4708 nobody’s saying she is. You really need to wise up if you don’t think people can feel guilt when things weren’t their fault. Ever heard of survivors guilt? It was 2018, we all have GPS on our phones by 2018 especially someone like a driver, so that’s just redundant. U
Huh???
I agree with you. I don't think some of those questions were coming out the right way. Which was causing her to answer them in a way that was probably confusing the jury.
I know he asked her how she knew where to go like 10 times
I think the answer he was looking for was "The passenger types in the destination in the app when they request a ride" or something along those lines to show premeditation - he knew exactly where he was going and how to get there (as evidenced by him telling her not to follow GPS instructions). Unfortunately I think the intention didn't come through well which confused her.
Redundant means when it was established as in questioned before. These details are needed to establish them for the record. They are not redundant.

Ridiculous level of questioning regarding the workings of Uber. Everyone is aware that everything is done through the driver's phone. No wonder this foregone conclusion of a Trial is going to take 4 months.
Every detail small or big has to be discussed. It's the way it's done.
it's not really a trial cause he plead guilty it is the sentencing hearing. The details are important because he is claiming insanity and the prosecutor is trying to prove that it was premeditated and he knew exactly what he was doing. This testimony proves he was of sound mind, not talking to the "voices" he claims he was, and was calculated and cold in what he did. Death penalty is deserved.
How do you know it’s 4 months?
The judge said 4 months and agree some of this questioning is ridiculous about how Uber works I know it’s the way it’s done but doesn’t make it nonsense nonetheless
It's a relevant detail that explains how they met. While it does seem trivial, because it is, they still need to say it so that it's on record. That way if someone is reviewing the case in 50 years after Uber has folded they can understand what's going on.
Lawyers are so annoying! Making this cute little grandma explain how Uber works when they should already know how it works. It's like they've been living under a rock for the past 10 years.
It’s for the record, nothing is assumed in the court of law they have to.
17 people is death or life without parole. Anything under is a shame for any state.
Exactly what this trial is about, death penalty or life in prison
That’s what they’re determining… he has already plead guilty. This is a sentencing trial to determine if death or life in prison without parole is appropriate. That’s what the jurors are deciding.
We should bring back the electric chair specially for school shooters. This is getting out of hand.
I also think it should be illegal for the media to address his name when covering the case. We shouldn’t be giving him any recognition which is what he wants .
I hope she doesn’t harbor any guilt. It’s not her fault
Our judicial system has become a daycare center for the criminally insane.
Sickening and seems to be!
It is ridiculous how N Cruz is looking at documents and making notes - whatever for ? He is guilty end of story - he should not only sit there but have the courage and the balls to look at the people he made their life a misery instead of holding his head down. May he rot in jail.

This is heartbreaking to see. This sweet lady reminds me a little bit of my mother or someone that would be related to me. She was just trying to make ends meat and had no idea. Echoing so many sentiments here, I really hope she doesn't blame herself or feel overwhelming guilt. If anything, we should praise her that she's testifying despite the language barrier.
I’m not sure why they’re sometimes having trouble understanding her. I’m Australian, never travelled so I’m certainly not used to accents or different languages & I understand every word she’s saying perfectly… but everyone’s different I guess.
Americans are bullies.
Americans always pretend they do not understand whenever they hear an accent
People from the US always exaggerate to "not understand" when someone is talking with a foreign accent.
I'm from England and understood her perfectly
Because Americans hear a different accent and their brains shut down. They don't even try.
I'm continually impressed with this attorney, very well done sir.

Her app screen would instruct her to pick up “Nikolas C.”
Her court subpoena summons obviously says “Florida v.
