    I've been working for Bentley for 13 years and it pains me to see you having all these issues with your car. I'm screaming at TH-cam while I'm watching saying most of these issues you are having with the Bentley are simply caused by dead or low batteries. I've seen it 100 times over the years and everybody says the same thing... "my batteries are fine". I'm going to guess you have some aftermarket Interstate or Deka batteries installed or some other low end battery and haven't kept it on a battery maintainer when not driving it. Or maybe there is a draw on the batteries but either way the batteries are definitely the main issue. When the main battery is low you need to turn the key left then right (as you were doing in the video) to utilize the secondary battery to start the car. This is more or less an emergency start feature to get you home when the main battery is dead. The more you do the left right start the more you wear down that secondary battery because it's not intended to be used 100% of the time. When the main battery is low you will get all sort of errors such as lights on the dash (traction control etc..), front end drops down, windows don't go up all the way, etc. I know you say the valve was the issue with the suspension and it probably is part of the problem but when the battery is low the front will also drop down. All I'm trying to say is that most of your issues are because of the low batteries is not a full diagnosis. I do enjoy your videos so keep up the good work. If I can help you in any way let me know and I I'll do my best. The Bentley is a beautiful car but like you said there is a learning curve. Best of luck bro I hope this one works out for ya

    You have a battery issue. There is two batteries in the back. Always best to replace them in pairs. The key getting locked in the ignition and everything dead is caused by a loss of battery power. Turning the key to the left switches from using the starting battery to using the resident battery to start it. With the starter battery good you do not have to turn the key left before starting it. That is also the cause of your windows dropping, every time it loses the battery power it loses the window position memory and you have to re synch them. The battery is likely the cause of most of your quirks.
    Also, you may have a steering wheel heater, it's a little round dot button on the side of the steering wheel switches.

  • @bebin73
    @bebin73 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    If you’re having to turn the key to the left before it starts you have a bad battery. What that does is switch the starter battery from right to left. The dash lights and windows confirm this. You shouldn’t have to wait to put the car in gear. Replace your batteries. You also do have a heated steering wheel. Can see the small black button on the left side of the steering wheel controls.

    1) the heated steering wheel buttons are on the back of the steering wheel controls. One on left side one on right. One side turns on wheel heat the other is to turn those wheel control lights on and off. (Little round buttons)
    2) car needs two new batteries as everyone else has mentioned.
    3) those dash lights come on when you unlock the car. (Tach-Speedo)
    4) in snow raise the suspension with the controls on the console.
    5) reset the window pinch protection and you won’t have the gap anymore.
    6) You can program functions for the key in the main screen, such as lighting and climate functions. So you that full blast fan speed might be able to be adjusted in there.
    7) tire pressures on that vehicle are super high something like 48psi
    It will affect your fuel mileage greatly if it’s under inflated.
    Ok… that’s all
    Hope you try some of these and they work…let us know!!!

    I think there’s a way to reset the windows. You may need to roll down all the windows at the same time hold the switches down for 10 seconds then roll it up and hold it for 10 seconds. It’s a typical safety feature that happens when the battery dies or when you disconnect the battery so the frameless window doesn’t shatter.

    Hi,. I own a 2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur. Great Car. Here in Minnesota, I keep in the garage during the winter and over inflate the tires 10% over the winter to avoid flat spots. I get 10 mpg in town and 20 mpg on the highway. I have a great place to service the car, I..... Motorsports, locally owned, that only uses new factory parts. The car is on a battery tender over the winter. I clean the leather the dealer recommended (not supposed to say the brand?) leather cleaner. It's old now, (72,000 miles) but I LOVE it. I do use the factory suggested brand batteries and don't suffer like this guy does. Thank my lucky stars!

    Every Volkswagen Group vehicle has the park lights stay on if you leave the indicator on, this is so you can park on the side of the road, turn that side on, and the car is visible while reducing the amount of power used. Even have this in my 1977 Golf.

    • @hansheiser3868
      @hansheiser3868 ปีที่แล้ว

      @jonaszmarek7217 I've noticed most/all German cars have this feature. Is this due to a German vehicle law? You mentioned your '77 Golf has it. My dad used to own an S500 that had it. A couple friends with Porsche 911's have this feature. I think Audi's and BMW's have it too. So that's why I was wondering if German law requires passenger cars to have this "one-sided parking light" feature. Peace and Happy New Year.

    Yes someone who owns a dealership can definitely own and daily drive a Bentley or any other endless money pit. Remember when the bumper cracked/fell off or you had to scan for error codes etc? An average person doesn't have such tools to diagnose and fix their own vehicle so that bumper fix would've cost an arm and leg for an average driver who owns a Camry/Sonata/Accord.
    Normal people want vehicles they start and drive without issues or scary sounds daily.

    Every VW Audi since the seventies has used the direction stalk as the parking light. Surprised that threw you. Also, +1 for batteries throwing codes everywhere. Not sure I agree that you can’t be seen in a Bentley, or other exotic by clients. I’ve had customers suggest that I’m not enjoying success, when I turn up in a cheap/average vehicle. Also, in a world full of people leasing and running things they could never actually afford to purchase outright (like we used to back in the days), does anyone (who’s opinion actually matters), give a hoot? If we think a Tennant pays rent late because of the car we drive, we are deluding ourselves, plus, if a car dealer/shop owner, ie. a car guy, can’t drive a top of the line car for fear a customer will think he’s ripping them off, then who needs that person as a customer anyway? They’re bound to be the type who don’t pay their bills, or quibble to the point you want to just give up and go fish instead.

No matter what you do I’d rather deal with someone who is successful at what they do than someone who is constantly broke from a gambling issue, drug problems, not being a good business person etc. success isn’t something to be embarrassed about. It’s none of anyones business how you make money - stock market, crypto, inheritance, investment properties, lottery, married well or just really good at what you do. It is funny though because I have a lot of people when I’m out who are more impressed with my F250 platinum (which was a $92,000 truck new) than they are with the Bentley or other exotics I’ve had. One thing people always seem to love is a G-wagen.

    Craig, people who own cars of this value do not park them out in the snow, they are put in a garage! Dont freeze to the ground in the garage. But a great video on all the things wrong with it and why nobody else should be considering it. This is a real self defeating video that ensures nobody will buy it and you will get to keep it and all its problems----forever! But wait.....where is the owners manual for it? Reading that would get you up to speed on the quirks.

    It was good to see the reason why your Bentley froze to the ground. You later highlighted it with the suspension spend when all it was, was the air valve was faulty so your car was far to low at rest.

    Your video makes me want one more than ever now. I think I would opt for the V-8, the V-12 scares me. A lot of your problems were related to the battery. The car is amazing for a car that is almost 20 years old. Thank you for great content.

    Thanks for making this video. Now I see some of the quirks of this car. I thought you had a lemon or something? How can a Bentley be that bad? But I’m glad that a professional Bentley mechanic explained that a low battery is the cause of most of the problems with your car. When I saw you struggling with the car I was thinking don’t you have an owner’s manual or a shop book for this Bentley? Anyways I wouldn’t buy your Bentley after you let your dog into it. lol. And I honestly think that you didn’t mind because you were planning to sell this Bentley after your two weeks experimentation with it- am I correct?

  • @rolandos64

    I can only imagine what your consumers go through with cars they buy from you. You had all these issues. You never drive what you sell. You simply fix them long enough to leave the Lott. Cars are like an hour glass. The longer you keep them. The sooner you need to rebuild them. Buying/leasing new cars makes sense.

    Actually part of the blame for higher gas is the last administration. Trump asked Saudi Arabia to cut oil production. In Cali I paid 5.69 a gallon. $100 to fill my beater 2001 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. Many factors go into the price of gas so we are all feeling the pain.

    Battery, battery, battery. Cars like this are full of modules, low batteries and they begin to frustrate. You'll find the same with the DB9 when you conduct the same test. Given the age of the car the Brits upper class wouldn't be driving around with a Starbucks or a big gulp jammed in the cup holders...

    I got a 06 and like others say DRIVE THIS CAR like other high end luxury car dead batteries makes this car act up. The key getting stuck is all VW I also have a 955 cayenne witch also many VW parts and when the battery dies it does the same thing. The bumpers are definitely a much harder plastic then your average car I got mine with a cracked bumper also not saying you fixed yours wrong there's more then one way to skin a cat I used hot staples to pc. it together then a filler primer I planed on wrapping the car so thats all I needed to do and I never had a problem again with the cracked areas. The biggest issue with this vehicle by far is the VACUUM LINES I can not stress enough if you take interest in this vehicle rather to own or flip check if the vacuum lines have been redone if redone the right way the plastic lines will be some type of metal hard lines if there still plastic its not a question of if they will be a problem its just a matter of time and it will be a problem every mechanic will say its a engine out job I managed to get the job done without engine removal but took much longer no mechanic will take that kinda time . Long story short dont buy one of these unless your very mechanically literate or several thousand dollars in repairs is not a problem for you .
