    Cool review, however one minor correction: you don't "invest" money in a car. You "spend" it. Unless it's a rare collectible model, which this Bentley is not, at least right now.

    The great thing about huge depreciation on vehicles is you can buy one cheap maintain it yourself and have a great car. I have a beautiful 06 Jaguar XJ8 that I've done all the maintenance myself. Brakes transmission filter water pump hoses and twice the thermostat housing. It is true most of the parts on these vehicles don't last as long as other cars but as long as you keep an eye on it it's relatively easy to change. Next up will be a Bentley Flying Spur V8. With all the videos and articles out there now guys don't be afraid to get under the hood.

    I've got a '05 Mercedes-Benz SL500. I bought her 3 years ago. I went in knowing that ANY repairs would be costly. BUT!!! I got a good one! Not to say trouble-free, but I maintain her to a tee. And here's the key to having a nice luxury car; USE IT! TAKE HER OUT FOR EXERCISE! TOO many people just let them sit. I won't buy one that's been sitting for over a year, WAY too many problems crop up!

    I bought a used one and still own it. I am very happy with it. :) Ultimately we can prove whatever story we want to believe. But for me they hold their value pretty well after the initial depreciation hit. Mine's been very reliable and I know the person who owns the Bentley dealership so I can confirm that's common. The maintenance costs roughly around $400/month, amortized out (some years less, some more). I wouldn't call it a great deal, but the point is, that it's fair and won't bankrupt you. But when you add in the fact that it's a Bentley, it's worth it to me. And unlike other high end cars, you can drive it daily (as I do with kids and dogs).

    I own a 2010 GTC Speed 12 cylinder. I've had the car for 4 years and love it. However, it's not for people who would otherwise buy a Honda. It costs serious money if anything goes wrong - my only problem has been batteries and a headlight that went out. The headlight cost 4,000 to replace. Crazy expensive on that one. I also replaced a grill that got chipped by road debris for 1,000. It's not my daily driver but I love driving it. My only real complaint is I think the back up camera sucks. If you are looking for low priced maintenance you should never buy ANY (originally) expensive cars...stick to Toyotas and Hondas.

    • @stephmartinez790

      Well, certain Korean and Japanese tires brands are proven to be good quality tires, I used to buy only Pirelli or Michelin Pilot Super Sports tires for my cars, the last American set of tires I bought was a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport, that like 3 years ago, a set of 4 tires for my Mercedes CLS 55 AMG at $1500 installed and balanced... 3 weeks later 2 of them were ripped off by a blade on the street... When I had to replace the tires on my CL 65 AMG V12 I bought a Lexani set for $800 installed and balanced, now I use Lexani or Nitto in all of my 4 Mercedes.

    I daily drive a 06 flying spur. It’s great, but when the check engine light comes on. It’s not cheap to repair. Some parts are interchangeable with Audi A8, like the brake pads which can save you a lot of money. The motor is based on the vw phaeton which also has parts you can source through vw. But compared to other high line cars , some parts are very pricey and come from Britain. I had to wait three weeks for a component for the air suspension from UK. General maintenance stuff is fine like oil and tires. Got 123,000 KM on mine. Drive it all year, have snow tires for the Canadian winters, it’s a beast in the snow. At the end of the day, it’s a car, drive the hell out of it.

    I also seriously thought about buying an older Bentley Continental Coupe, but I kept on finding out all kinds of problems that one can encounter. For example, my neighbor told me that his son had bought a new Bentley convertible and the top soon malfunctioned and the dealer was not able to fix it. I could also imagine that fixing the air suspension system could be very expensive as it was to fix my Mercedes SL high tech suspension. My very honest mechanic told me that some Bentleys had few problems while others always were breaking down. And many parts you can only buy from the dealer. One owner told me that it cost him $3,000 per year for routine maintenance at the dealer.

    I think the biggest issue with Bentleys anymore is that their interiors don't really look special. Other than being red, this looks like an old Lexus interior. There's not good material contrast here and all the red just blurs together. The bar has been raised by major manufacturers so much, let alone ones producing luxury vehicles, that Bentley struggles to differentiate. The more modern Bentleys (not the one pictured here) look like an autozone special inside- Lexus, BMW, and even Mercedes look better and higher quality inside.

  • @mikesummers2525
    @mikesummers2525 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is more editorial than actual proof. If it was “really” less maintenance, you would have provided an actual cost of ownership and detailed repairs over a period and compared it with something. That something could be a competitor of the high value luxury or a popular vehicle like the Toyota you mentioned. You didn’t give one example of maintenance just that parts are interchangeable. If you even google 2005 Bentley gt oil change cost vs 2005 Volkswagen Passat oil change, the cost is $500 vs $159.

I ended up getting an i8 which I wasn’t too happy with . Ended up trading it in for a 2016 accord and I’m happy with it good gas low maintenance reliable . I still get the thought to buy one of these but I know it will just be another money pit. I will still end up getting one lol

      Robert Slegers The big difference is that the Granada is all vinyl and plastic. The Bentley is wall to wall quality leather, wood, and metal. Even the seat tracks under the front seats are covered with leather. The Bentley is just dripping in high quality luxury. The Granada is just pretending. I like the old Granada and Monarch by the way.

    They are bottomless money pits, especially if you use the car every day. They are beautiful fantastic cars , top finish , drive very very well it is a real pleasure to drive . But the reliability is not what it should be and the fuel consumption is excessive and parts are generally very expensive. But if you have enough money it's not a problem, but people who have enough money don't buy cars like this second hand but new .
