I’m taking over a shop this summer and the prospect of google and how handle google reviews, is my biggest concern right now. Crazy people frighten me.
We now live in a world of entitlement and narcissism. What can YOU do for ME today? It's a shame, but it's reality. Craig, you're a good man but understand that in the end, there is only so much you can do for these people. They will ALWAYS be unhappy .... they thrive on it.
I'm watching your videos from South Africa. 99% of used car dealers here are shady. Selling smashed cars as 1 owner, accident free cars. If u were in south Africa or I was in ur Country, I would gladly buy from you. Keep it up
I was in the car business for 14 years. A happy customer may tell a couple of people, but a unhappy customer can tell 20 people. Wheather it is right or wrong that is how it is.. Love your channel. Keep it up
As a former used car dealer and possibly a future one as well, I FEEL YOUR PAIN! It never fails that the people that pay you all the money love you and the ones that you end up making only $500 on are a pain in the butt. Never fails! I learned to stop doing skinny deals and just turning those people away, it's just not worth it. Make sure you make them sign at least 3 different documents that they understand the vehicle is being sold AS-IS. I've literally had customers call me and yell at me 6 months after buying a used car because the headlight went out. "You knew it had a bad headlight"! WTF? People are just insane and mentally ill. Even though it's only a few dollars to fix the headlight for them at any auto parts store and maybe 5 minutes of installation, you are the bad guy because you are a used car dealer. Guilty WAY before anything even happens. When I got out of the car business, it was a relief that I no longer had to tell people that I was a car dealer when they asked what I did for a living. You're automatically labeled as a scumbag, it sucks, but part of the territory. Another reason why you NEVER sell a vehicle unless they test drive it. And always say NO when they ask if they can take it to their mechanic to have it inspected before they buy it. The mechanic will ALWAYS give them a laundry list of things it needs, leaks, etc. 100% of the time it will kill the deal, just say no, but you are welcome to bring your mechanic with you to the lot and inspect it here. At least that way your vehicle doesn't leave the property and it wastes less of your time.
I wish I had read your comment a year ago. I've wasted half a day twice taking cars to customer's shop mechanic. Always some BS list like you mentioned. Live and learn!
I totally get what your saying I sold wrecked cars in my younger years I noticed it was way harder to sell a 2000 dollar car over a 10,000 dollar car. And the people who always want more photos when you explain perfectly what is wrong with it and what needs to be fixed. Never end up buying it. All they do is waste your time.
its such a pain when people have something so little go out like a headlight they just want to get upset before realizing these things need replacing and it takes only a few dollars and a few minutes people are brainwashed into thinking everything is super expensive to fix because theyve been paying 100 dollars for an oil change
The people who can't afford a decent car are the worst. Everything that is wrong in their life they blame on someone else. Wish you were in CO. How is the house coming?
I just find it amazing you run this wonderful business that truly helps people out and they can't act like a normal human being to you. I mean if you are buying a 15 yo $4000 car there will be things that will break.

As a Southern California used car dealer that is very similar to you in inventory and car prices. Your points are 110% correct. The people have a $5,000 budget, want the car that is $15,000 and expectation. Then are mad when the 1st thing goes wrong on the car they bought, bring it into a upsell service center and come out with a list of repairs for $5,000.
Shoot people need to chill. I can take a brand new car and find a issue 9 out of 10 times. This isn't like the POS my kid bought without waiting for me to get home. Ugh. Matt.
My mother runs a reception hall and got into a family argument about something stupid of course. So my asshole brother gets on Google and leaves a bunch of bad reviews on Google. Just some insight on my dysfunctional family 😂
Craig sometimes you have to sell cars to inmates, not saying all people are inmates, but that some people just expect to be fed, because that's how they live. I remember guarding an inmate at a hospital, where they kept asking for pain meds, food, pop, juice, said sure ill see if they can help. Well the nurse gave him a juice, he smiled as he drank and said, I'm done, can I have another (third drink at this point) he finished, i shook my head no to the nurse, he said why, aren't you about customer service here! he didn't say thank you but smiled as he handed it back. they will just try to see what they can get out of you, manipulation is there tactic against the honest hard working people.
I spent 25 years as a used car dealer. After the first 5 years or so I went strictly wholesale, dealer to dealer. I bought directly from New car dealer trade ins and sold to retail used card dealers that I had a relationship with. It one point later in my care half of that was by phone.
Any company I look through reviews, if I see any that weren't customers, I flag and report it so it gets taken off. Only people that have been there, confirmed customers, should be able to leave reviews. Hats off to you and your company. You put it all out there and hide nothing. Great Job!
Just watch the Peoples Court. Judge Marilyn Milian, WIll tell any buyer of a used car, you buy it As IS,. She will also say, did you try the car out before buying? Did you bring a trained mechanic with you to inspect before you buy? She says unless the seller gives you a warranty in writing, you are SOL!
Hi Craig, I too have been in the industry for over a decade and worked in BRANDED Dealerships. You are totally correct. people care about themselves. I have went over and beyond for my clients and greeted them every opportunity at the dealership only to come in and see them talking to a colleague that has done NOTHING for them. But when they have problems or questions they ask for me. I was nice but its like you said constant snowball effect, even in the Business office they would throw me under the bus even if I didn't promise things they would try. I have since left to start my own dealership and never miss an episode. Thanks for doing what you do and just like you I think my dealerships name is cool as well.
I saw these comments from Terry Ann on FB recently and was blown away at how crazy she is! I was wondering if you were going to do a video in response to them; glad you did! I've flipped a couple of cars and got the fever. It's a dream to work for myself and do something like you do, but after so many years of dealing with the public, I just can't anymore. People have gotten terrible to deal with. Maybe one day, I can retire early from my day job and help out a small dealership like yours in being a buyer. I'd love to just go to auctions and buy the cars without having to deal with selling them to the Karens! Also, you're 100% correct that selling cheap cars sucks. My flips were under $1000 purchases. The "bottom of the barrel" clientele you mention was the exact same description I used. My patience couldn't take it anymore. Those type of people can often be downright dangerous to deal with when something doesn't go their way. I'd wind up meeting customers in a Target parking lot to conduct the transactions for safety reasons. Keep up the good work! Love your channel!
I’ve seen enough of you uploads to know you always do your best to make people happy and do things right. You can’t make everyone happy and you’ll drive yourself nuts trying.
Hey Craig, I’m a car dealer myself.. when I first started the business 3 years ago I’ve noticed that it was very difficult to be able to get a review out of someone.. I started to give back to customers by asking for a review during paperwork and in return we gift them a $10 gift card to Walmart… It’s definitely helped us grow and gets more of a legitimate aspect of how the business runs!! Something simple but definitely pays off
I was inspired by your reply. I just got my dealer license 2 weeks ago and I'm in need of some advice.....Would you consider a 10-15 minute conversation with me? This is no scam
@@dondownriver3464 good afternoon! Well I’m officially open for business but any advice to a beginner would be appreciated! Who gives the best market values, who would offer financing to a new dealer, auction tips etc????
I will I have to disagree. I leave positive reviews when someone goes above and beyond or have a great experience. The last car I drove over five hours to buy a car in Wisconsin when I live in central Illinois. One of the best dealer experience I ever had. Made sure to give a great review.
This video is as real as it gets. I’m a dealer myself. One of the most unfortunate things about the business is the stigma that as a dealer your going to rip them off or how some people think we owe them something because we are dealers. People that give off that vibe or similar I just politely push to the side to avoid issues. We all end up with that crazy customer that wants to push to get a little more after the deal. As a dealer we know these people cannot be pleased so don’t even bother. They just want to take advantage and with experience you will be able to tell. What makes up for it is when we get a really respectful customer through the door that helps balance things out.
This is the message I send out to my customers after almost every purchase: "If you could take a minute to leave me a 5 star rating as a seller it would really help me grow as a seller here on Facebook Marketplace. Thanks again and enjoy!" And you're right, rarely do they ever follow through with a review even if they're 100% happy. I'd say maybe one in ten actually gives out a review. But if someone is unhappy, almost 100% guarantee negative review.
I like how that woman thinks complaining about a car she allegedly bought years ago on dozens of posts and claiming discrimination based on being a Christian woman makes *you* look like the crazy one. Good job, Karen!
Craig I am in same situation in used car dealership business. It is the world we live in and Google review I always try to be nice. Yes, customers are always never happy with used car after purchasing the car.
Craig you have always come across as a pretty decent human being who tries to do the best you can for your family and customers. There are always going to be those negative Nellie's that try to hurt you. Just ignore them and know they are a minute part of the population
I leave positive reviews for businesses all the time, and my own business has lots of positive reviews. I think people are just as likely to want to share positive news as bad news. Having said that, I am not in the car business so I know you're dealing with a whole of variables that I don't have the pleasure of dealing with. Good channel and you're not far from my neck of the woods.
I would like to commend for bringing this type of situation up. I also experienced the same situation I run a storage facility, it didn't escalate to your level, and it's not fun to deal with. Thank you for what you're doing for the public.
Take a deep breath. Stay positive. Let go of the bad stuff. Try to meet folks half way. You had bad reviews that none of us knew about. Now we all know. She didn’t do that. You did.
as ia say to everyone (as a business owner ) when taxes and etc gets raise on business it is the customer that pays it simple cost of goods sold calculation
If I’m not mistaken, her posting a review when she didn’t purchase a car from you is libel because it’s negatively affecting your business, karma will get those people
It's the internet. Sadly its to be expected. I got negative feedback on eBay once as the customer complained about the shipping charge. I reached out to them, "did you notice I actually paid more in postage than you were charged?" "Yes, I saw that, but it should have been cheaper." As if I have pull with the post office... Geez.
That's nothing, I got a bad review on ebay when someone had purchased something from me, and I didn't send it that very day, and they stated in the review, and I quote "had to wait 18 hours for the seller to ship, then another 2 days for the post office to get it to me, but the product was fine, nothing fancy, just exactly what I ordered" I ended getting MORE customers due to that review, I ship fast, and the right stuff lol sometimes bad reviews can help you with people who aren't nuts LOL
You sell old cars with high mileage and expect people to be happy with these cars. These cars break down and usually never run good. The high mileage cars are usually not reliable and run down, that’s why they are at auction. But the content is great. Keep up the great content.
Agree. What do people honestly expect buying a car with 150-250 k miles🤔 The car is at the end of its life, and every wearable part is going to eventually have a problem. If you are going to buy a used car which I have been doing for the last 25 years, get one with low mileage (ie 25-30k) from a local dealer who knows the origin of the car (NOT auction). You will pay more upfront, but you are almost guaranteed to have no issues and a car that will last for years.
@@jacklittle1624 plus a car which is known to be reliable. More up front, more reliability and less chance of buyers remorse because the buyer is stuck with a lemon.
I gave you a thumbs-up, and I don't enjoy your pain. I do, however, appreciate your honesty. One of my best friends owned a used car dealership, so I have firsthand experienced examples of your crazy customers. My friend sold cars that were detailed to the best of their condition, were mechanically safe, and would pass inspection. It blew my mind what people came back to complain rudely about, or worse, wanting a refund or discount after owning and driving the car many thousands of miles. You have to truly love this business because the aggravation is at times off the charts.
I read some where that only 10 % may look at that before they shop at that specific dealer and 5% are the karens your talking about... so use this as free advertisement to keep phyco karens away!!!!
I too am in a business that gets consumer reviews. It is always the arrogant, talks over you, knows it all customer that leaves the bashing negative reviews. THERE NEEDS TO BE A SITE TO REVIEW CONSUMERS. Some deals are best NOT CLOSED, the problematic, time consuming, pains in the ass, these are the ones that bash you!!! I have learned to just over price these people so they go away!!!
I sold a car and the lady drove in a ditch and pulled the bumper off, want me to give her money back, who ever pulled her out janked the bumper off and it's my fault. True story
Not a used car story but used tires. A kid comes into the Garage I worked at on a Sunday. This was in the late 1970s. I did oil changes, tire repair, and sold new and used tires. A Teenager comes in with a hopped up 66 Chevy II. He bought a set of well used matching 70 series 14" tires. I mounted them, bubble balanced them, and put them in his car. All this for at the time for $35 dollars. Nimrod pulls out of the shop burning rubber. He blows a tire. The only gaurentee he got was they didn't leak air. The Boss told him to either buy another tire or leave. He put his bald spare on and left.
Always enjoy your channel and insight into your operation. You come across as honest and straight forward. I wouldn't want your job though, lol. Your analysis of how and why people leave the reviews they do is spot on. Good luck man!
Sue anyone who never purchased a car ND wrote negative review ..u have a case against them in a civil case ..bag up ur money on them..only way to end it
And do what? Waste time and money on suing them and them never pay? They could barely afford a $10,000 truck on probably a 120 month loan what makes you think they'll pay a judgement?
As a small business owner, I can tell you that 90% of the people that come at you with attitude are the problem. When they are polite, the problem is probably on our end.
Ive have been watching your videos for a while now and love all that you and German do in providing helpful tips to us...Thanks Flying Wheels 😊 you get 5 Stars from me...
Well I just left a 5 star review for offering free advice on how to sell my boat when I called, very friendly and honest, so take that Karen!!! You can always trust someone in the car business who owns a Boxer dog.
From a legal standpoint I see two different things with that transaction. First, if she purchased the vehicle "As Is" and agreed to those terms and conditions of the sale then any problems she encounters after the sale are on her. She is probably a competent adult and had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle herself and negotiate any issues or repairs, but I'm guessing she was more interested in negotiating a price instead of mechanical fixes so any issues after the sale are on her. Secondly, the only issue that I would have after the sale with some of the issues that you mentioned her mechanic discovered (like ball joints and exhaust) are state inspection items. Since you stated that you performed a state inspection and granted the vehicle a new state inspection sticker prior to the sale then you could possibly be liable to repair those issues, but only a judge a DMV special investigator/state trooper can make that determination in a court of law IMO. IMO the woman should have been more concerned with a pre-purchase inspection before purchasing the vehicle instead of focusing solely on the price instead of buying it "As Is" and having an inspection performed after the fact that she purchased the vehicle. If she truly has a legitimate compliment about state inspection items not being in proper working order directly after a passing state inspection was granted to the vehicle then she should submit a complaint to her local DMV and have a special investigator or state trooper assigned to the complaint to conduct an investigation. The bottom line is is when you purchase a used vehicle, especially a cheap high mileage used vehicle with no warranty then BUYER BEWARE!!
A Gm car with 170k miles and 15 years for 10k we must expect both the engine and trans to give out soon and many electrics … your gambling at that point it’s not the dealers fault your buying a 15 year old car
I drove truck for 14 years. A number of years ago, I had to choose between two truck stops in a major city both of which had terrible reviews. When I pulled into the truck stop, I was astonished. The parking lot, that reviews had said was full of holes and garbage everywhere, was in excellent condition with no garbage anywhere. The on-site motel was in great shape and clean despite reviews to the contrary. The main building was incredible. It was hospital clean with floors I could eat off of. The restaurant was just as clean even in the corners and the service and food was good too. I asked the waitress if there had been a management change. She said no. She was just as puzzled as I was over the reviews. Before I left that restaurant, I posted a sparkling review and showed it to the waitress. The used car industry has a lot of company when it comes to unwarranted bad reviews.
I’m exactly the same way with my biz. Your right Craig. Try my best to screen the Karen’s over the phone but every once in a while one gets through. I refuse to be stomped on they can take their attitude right on the to the next plumber.
My local shop looked after my Cayenne Turbo recently. They are always good and I promised to leave a good google review. This video reminded my that I hadn’t done it! Thanks or reminding me Craig.
Exactly how it should be run. If you come out the gate fighting don’t expect anyone to help you. But if you plead your case and are respectful then you should be treated well if the seller was ok with it.

I really considered getting a lot and a dealer license. Dealing with all of that nonsense kept me from doing it.
100% same here. I flipped a couple of cars, made money, and enjoyed it--but the stigma of being a used car dealer and dealing with the public, no.
I will I have to disagree. I leave positive reviews when someone goes above and beyond or have a great experience. The last car I drove over five hours to buy a car in Wisconsin when I live in central Illinois. One of the best dealer experience I ever had. Made sure to give a great review.
What was the car dealership that you had a good experience
@@_BostonMatt lidke Lincoln in Beaver Adam Wisconsin. It’s a small independent owned Lincoln dealer.
$5000 for. Car with 250,000 miles that’s should be a 2000 car! this market is fucked.
This is the message I send out to my customers after almost every purchase:
"If you could take a minute to leave me a 5 star rating as a seller it would really help me grow as a seller here on Facebook Marketplace. Thanks again and enjoy!"
And you're right, rarely do they ever follow through with a review even if they're 100% happy. I'd say maybe one in ten actually gives out a review. But if someone is unhappy, almost 100% guarantee negative review.
I find the world is FULL OF CRAZY PEOPLE..
YOUR DOING GREAT, DONT STOP..
Some people are never happy , I’m not surprised you don’t like dealing with cheaper cars
Craig you have always come across as a pretty decent human being who tries to do the best you can for your family and customers. There are always going to be those negative Nellie's that try to hurt you. Just ignore them and know they are a minute part of the population
I bet she was divorced too, and you wonder why ?
Even brand new cars have problems.
Don't sell to females that are most likely on a low end budget ..most will hussel the dealer
This is exactly the reason why I put positive comments when needed and with negative ones I'll always try to solve before posting anything.
@3:59 "You get more bees with honey"?? BAHAHAHA. Not quite how that saying goes!
You go above and beyond to help your customers. These videos show how you are as a person, honest.
I've said this over and over... "People want something for nothing".
If I’m not mistaken, her posting a review when she didn’t purchase a car from you is libel because it’s negatively affecting your business, karma will get those people
You're mistaken. That's libel.
IT IS NOT. I RESENT THAT. Slander is spoken. In print, it's libel.
@@armands3153 that isn't correct either. Libel covers things said on TV or anything else widely circulated.
@@curtism-w6b Then Spider-Man was wrong? My whole childhood was wrong? Anyway... Have a good one.
@@armands3153 and adulthood. All of it, just wrong!
That 4500$ Honda costs 1500$ here, prices in the USA are insane high.
As is just wat it is as is .but in my state they give u 30days warranty buts thats it
TH-camr Apex Detail is stealing your schtick. He was a detailer and now flipping used cars for Ferrari. Copying is the highest form of flattery.
Give people a cash or future credit back of a positive review
You take it to a mechanic BEFORE you buy it. Once you buy it you own it.
Old adage--- happy customers tell 2 people, unhappy customers tell 13 .
You are so correct! No matter what you try and to help people some are never satisfied
The only way Craig helps people is by helping them out of their money.
I just left 5-star review on all three sites. Just to offset the trolls.
@@jacklittle1624 or just buy a Toyota. It will last forever....she had bad credit. Probably not smart enough to do a pre purchase inspection.
Love your videos and the industry insights you provide (for YEARS!!). You've built a successful business by doing a good job. Keep it up!
You have to truly love this business because the aggravation is at times off the charts.
you will be fine because you are a survivor
I read some where that only 10 % may look at that before they shop at that specific dealer and 5% are the karens your talking about... so use this as free advertisement to keep phyco karens away!!!!
“If I high grossed you, then I’ll fix the car” 10 pounders get fixed. That’s what I’m hearing you say.
Sue her. For defamation of character. That’s a 25,000. Pay 💰 out. It will teach her for lying about you. I know you won’t throw you to nice of a guy.
Unfortunately we live in the age of Karens and build back more expensive
It's amazing how unreasonable customers can be . That's when it feels so good to be able to tell them you aren't going to get taken advantage by them.
you have to be carefull when you repair a as/is car ,opens yourself to more repairs
I look at all reviews before doing business with anyone
Ive have been watching your videos for a while now and love all that you and German do in providing helpful tips to us...Thanks Flying Wheels 😊 you get 5 Stars from me...
Well I just left a 5 star review for offering free advice on how to sell my boat when I called, very friendly and honest, so take that Karen!!! You can always trust someone in the car business who owns a Boxer dog.
I’ve recently gone over to wholesale and it’s fantastic not to have to deal with the public.Remember the saying “no worse liar than a used car buyer “
I'm very sorry that this happened to you!!!
I feel bad for their husbands. Poor fools. If they of course have any. Most likely they don't. Which explains their anger. No fun in their...
Take them to court.Libel is a crime.
Not to mention a 170 mile 2007 Suburuban he probably paid 4-5k or less. So he made a killing on the deal.
Amen Craig!! You hit every point on the head. I got to share on my media pages so my customers hear it from someone else's mouth.
You do a great job and you seem like you are running a very up standing business- keep it up and don’t let the craziness bring you down.
People don't know how hard it is for dealers to get these cars and trucks. They cost Dealers way more than know very tough business
You should talk to an attorney about that karen. She has serious issues. Karma will get that karen.
