    For weighing my niece I weight my self first on a scale then I way myself with my niece on the scale. Then just find the difference. We can’t afford a baby scale.

    I loved pacifiers. They were an amazing comfort to my kids. Their eyes would roll back in their head from falling asleep the second you gave it to them. And I had to eventually break them of it at some point but it was no big deal. I’m all about all the comfort things for the babies. Blankies, etc.

    • @samanthastorm1190
      @samanthastorm1190 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They are also proven to majorly reduce the risk of sids

    • @ChixenLil
      @ChixenLil 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a pacifier fan but baby always tells you what they need when little. First 3 did not want it. My 4th took one and I was like nooooooo! She did not wake up if it fell out. She would wake up to eat. She could later sleep with it or without it. I would also not give it to her everytime she cried. I felt I needed to teach and learn how I can comfort her myself so she could have trust in me. She became my chiclet attached to my hip and pacifier is no longer. So good for some and not for some.

    • @patriciaseyfferle1427
      @patriciaseyfferle1427 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used pacifiers to try to avoid the tongue-thrust-thumbsucker mouth that I had/have. It was pretty obvious from our genes that they would need braces but my orthodontist said it's alot easier to correct if there's no thumbsucking history. We used a broad ortho style, and a "foo loop" as we called it; a short ribbon with a snap at one end to attach to the pacifier loop, and a clip at other to attach to pj's, once old enough to grasp and manipulate things. They quickly learned to find it and re-install! Also keeps the pacifier from landing on the ground when out and about! My gddtr used her thumb, which made her independent, but she has "the mouth." (I tell myself it's our British nobility ancestors!)

    My aunts and uncles and mom are doctors and they say the pacifiers are their enemies. Their two top and bottom teeth end up coming out kinda forming a circle where the pacifier would sit, not to mention the deformation of their coming teeth, infection, and dealing with taking it away after growing out of it etc. To each it’s own, but I’m glad you brought it up.

    On the subject of the pacifier my daughter didn’t want it use a pacifier ether but then she read that it reduces sids by 95% that is huge. and a big mental relief to a new mom. I think it is Worth it in the end for the peace of mind. It’s not that hard to got the toddler off the pacifier. You Just need to research different techniques to get them off the pacifier and find what works for you. I am a mom of two grown children and a grandma of four and am very involved in the care of my grandchildren. I totally agree about the baby swings. It is totally the baby preference of the one they like or if they like one at all. Those two little ones of yours are so sweet. I love watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your life! 🙏❤️🇺🇸

    I use the dome sound machine but the baby shher was an absolute life saver on many occasions and a great addition to the dome! In the car, night wakings, naps, etc. it does turn off but it calms them down enough to eventually fall asleep on their own.

    I have 3 kids and swore by so many of these that you regretted. Its so personal to mom and each baby. As a new mom I would get several things to try and see how they work for you and your baby. Personally my babies loved the dockatot, pacis and the bjorn bouncer was totally worth it in my opinion. Keep in mind if you get these things for your first and plan to have more kids you can reuse it for your children that follow. I have 3 and have reused pretty much everything each time.

    I loved my son's Pack 'n Play with bassinet and changing table that you flipped over when you needed it. It also came with a mobile. That's what we used when he was a new born till he got big and then we switched to a crib. I also really loved the portable diaper changing pad. Love this super helpful! I am currently 12 days postpartum with my 4th child and 3rd son. The nipple shield has saved me from painful feedings. I forgot to ask for one at the hospital like I had with my other 3 and I regretted it. I gave myself a mild case of mastisis due to cracked nipples and my milk coming in. Also a manual pump has helped tremendously!

    I just had my third baby and I'll say that having a Fisher Price swing and a FP bouncer that has a vibrate function on it has been the best. Each of my kids have preferred something different and having those 2 things helped immensely. I also highly recommend getting an exercise ball. You can sit on it and bounce with your newborn. It saved me during my second baby's witching hour (that was actually 5 hours) and has been helpful during my current baby's more unhappy moments.

They only used it for sleep/ naps I did not give it to them when they are awake and upset or crying , bored and playing. Transition was easy because of this. Pacifiers can be a great tool if used correctly. I agree, if Bub doesn't take it then leave it that way. ❤️

    I don't have a child yet but I totally agree on the paci thing, I might change my mind but for now I think it's an unnecessary crutch that can be a misery to break. Also I think I've seen some stuff about potentially messing with their teeth growing in correctly I could be wrong tho.

      All 4 of my kids take a pacifier. This one will too. The only nightmare was my 2 year old. Only bc I didn't take it at 1. They all have straight teeth. My 2 year old was eating so much he would throw up so it was a necessity with him. Along with the others. But that is my experience. Some moms never regret giving it to them.

      Same! My sister in law gifted some to us at our shower. I'd never heard of them but after i read the description (out loud at the shower 😂) i told her she was crazy! Then when Babygirl was about six weeks old, we had two full days of no sleep and basically no rest from the crying... We remembered those things, tried them, and never looked back! 😂

    My list currently on my second child who’s a week old: halo sleep sacks because they’re adjustable up to 5 months, ergo 4 way baby carrier, mammaroo bassinet for my current baby; it helps him sleep 3 hours at a time(worth the money for us), safety 1st newborn kit, zip onesies ONLY, Boppy nursing pillow, I call the milk pads boobie pads, OWLET SMART SOCK..and I agree with the app; wouldn’t know which side I’m on if it weren’t for that😅

    I love Ritual vitamins. I bought it for my daughter after doing a lot of research because she has Celiac disease, hence she is gluten free and also because she does not metabolize folic acid. This is a condition that affects a large percentage of women and they don’t even know it. Ritual prenatal vitamins contain methylated folate which can be absorbed without the body having to convert folic acid into folate. Also I recently began using their vitamins for women over 50 and I love them! By the way I am not affiliated with Ritual. I am just a concerned mother looking out for her daughter’s well being.

    Pregnant with my first and found this video so helpful! I really appreciate the opinions on what’s not worth the hype, as it seems like I’m just being inundated with ads telling me all the things I need! It’s so overwhelming. I will be checking out the ritual prenatal, nip shields, and the baby supplements! Thank you Brittany!

    I regret buying a lot of swaddles, even the one with velcros, with my son because he hated it and always gets out of it too. But with my second due in August, I will try the zipped swaddles.

    In my day I used Savoy cabbage leaves in my bra to prevent mastitis and it worked 😁 that little gadget was amazing! Tbh I never used any of those things, they all seemed a waste of money for such a short period of time, I didn’t regret it 😉
    I did however invest in an angel monitor so I knew at all times she was breathing and later on as a toddler the alarm would go off if she escaped her crib 😜 it meant I slept soundly knowing she was okay 👌 ♥️♥️♥️

    I'm due in June with my second baby, this video couldn't have come at a better time for me 🤗🤗 thank you!!!! One thing I Loved is having this cute Woven Bassinet right next to my bed for my baby to sleep in. He slept so good in it and It was nice having him right there on the side of my bed for nightly feedings.

    These are interesting suggestions but in the end your baby WILL let you know what they need. For myself I didn't know babies wake up if they are not swaddles. I have 4 kids, tried to swaddle them because that's what I was told and they always would get out of it. They would cry when swaddled. They all slept good and not wake up or startle themselves while not swaddle. That little thing for the baby belly I just switched to Dr Brown bottles and lucky it worked. For the nails I pull back the skin a little bit and that worked when I cut their nails. Baby gloves work as well just make sure you clean between their fingers to get that linty stuff. I do not know if true but I started to blow on their baby nails and they would slowly fall off with passing time ok not magic right away. This is before you start cutting their nails. To feed I just used night light. I never used sounds and would make vacuum noises and my kids got use to it and slept through it. I would rather try to live a normal life instead of shhh shhh shhh all the time. Still good video because you have to find what works for you and your baby. I do wish I had the weight machine. I do have to say you get curious as to how much they weigh, especially when making a baby book 🤣 God bless everyone and enjoy your babies!

    Please do a video on the different early education styles for baby. I've been reading a lot about Montessori but there are others out there. What will you be trying with Capri? PS: I've been watching since you were pregnant with Carter and had around 800,000 subs? It's been so amazing to watch your beautiful family grow.
