Thanks a lot 💙
I like bread bug
they should make it where if you bring 100 flowered pikmin to the mamutas they just clap happily and give up their treasure without a fight so i dont have to murder them
Definitely. I love the goofy eyes of the mamuta and hate that they have a treasure in them
Yeah i dont wanna kill mamuta
MLM mamuta lives matter
It would be better if your whole squad was flowered not necessarily 100
Wog is a slur in british english, but if the brits can still say the F slur because "it means cigarette" then we can still call the frog guys Wollywogs
Honestly being a Brit I've gone 21 years of my life without hearing the word "Wog" 😂
I have never heard of that as an insult
EDIT: Okay yeah done some research on it now
So their original name was based on an alternative name for tadpoles which is pollywogs, and in that context the name is fine. But as said, the name sadly has some connections to an offensive racist term. It doesn’t help that their name is incredibly similar to Golliwog Dolls, which were racist caricatures designed to make fun of black people and basically it was a big thing that even further promoted racism. I don’t know the full story of them because it isn’t exactly pleasant to be looking up stuff about that, but I know this is the main part of it. I think they may have even been around in the 80s, but that might be misinformation so take that with a grain of salt.
Fortunately nowadays stuff like that is far less common and I think the dolls were actually banned, so it makes sense that anyone under like 40 would not necessarily have heard this as an insult, which is fortunate, but knowing about it now there definitely is an incredibly unfortunate, but unintentional connection to something offensive in the past and I think it was a good decision to change the name knowing what I now know
Guys if y'all have never heard of it then what the fuck was Nintendo smoking
i haver never heard someone say it but i do know its used as a racist slur toward black people so thats why they probably changed it
I have never heard anyone use the f slur to refer to a cigarette.
fun fact: according to Olimar's notes in the Pikmin 4 Piklopedia, the egg that the Smoky Progg hatches from is in fact a MAMUTA egg!
Thats consistent with the Pikmin 1 credits
@@2011supergameraaaand the original untranslated names
In Pikmin 2, I think the reason Wogpoles were ceiling traps was to emulate them being sucked into the cave after you opened it
OOOOOOOHHHHHH
Ohhhhhhhh
That's actually pretty clever!
OHHHHHH
The instinct to immediately kill the Snitchbug comes from the pre-existing knowledge that they not dangerous, but instead actively waste your time. Yes it is satisfying to pluck new pikmin sprouts... Old ones that got planted against your will, not so much
My instinct is dream den sublevel 9
@@thatoneuberedsoldier4505 that has nothing to do with Snitchbugs or harmless enemies, that floor is full of hidden Doodlebugs which can poison your min
BUTTTTT..... you can get flower pikmin :D
The swooping snitchbug is the only way to get bud bulbmin so there's that.
@@GoldenGrenadierthought it was only leaves
Another thing about the Creeping Chrysanthemum in Pikmin 4, they have a lot less noticeable disguise.
In Pikmin 2 they had their eyes open all the time so it was extremely obvious to see him, but now in Pikmin 4 they have their eyes constantly closed and only really open them if a Spectralid steps on its eyes
So now it really is a mimick enemy.
Number of flowers
except its not a mimic
@@k90v85 it is because it blends in with the vegetation around. Either the margarets or fleabane flowers depending on Pikmin 2 or 4; just like how there are octoroks in zelda games that blend in with the folliage like bushes.
@@ZombieChicken1310 it is foliage though, olimar points out this in the log in pikmin 2
@@k90v85 Ok and? It's still disguised as an ambience element therefore it is a mimick
It's weird to describe fighting enemies like Porquillion and Wollyhops with rocks as "cheesing" them, when you wouldn't say the same about Fiery Blowhogs and reds or Anode Beetles and yellows. Rocks have a hazard immunity, plain and simple. It's not cheesing to use it.
it is pretty strange if you think about it
Think it's mostly because with stuff like blowhogs you can still whistle to save pikmin suffering, but for most pikmin once a wog crushes them they're dead forever
@@jerryhh2744 then shouldn't we say fighting electric enemies with yellows in Pikmin 2 is cheesing them?
Mainly because wollywogs were created well before rock pikmin and didn't have a direct counter in first two games. Now you can literally throw a single rock at one and leave. It feels pretty cheesy
@@TheDarthWinner Maybe it does feel that way, but it's something the devs wanted players to be able to do. Sure, they're much easier enemies to fight now, even when they're in water. But Nintendo intended for them to be easier, and it's not cheese when it's intended.
It's just natural for certain tasks to become easier as we are given more tools.
29:12 i think it’s because you have the brace boots equipped, they prevent the captain from being blown away and being “sucked” in a enemy
it is
I would love a nature documentary of how these things love their lives. No matter how good or bad they are, ya just gotta love em
The reason you didn't get sucked into the greater jellyfloat is probably because of one of the upgrades you buy preventing you from getting knocked off your feet. You can disable your gear in the menus.
I feel like the pikmin 1 emperor bulblax should've been higher on the list considering he can wipe out your entire team with one attack if you don't know what you're doing.
The gildemander can also do the same thing as well
@@zcarp8642true but only if your pikmin are attacking a piece of gold that it is attempting to recover. despite this i do not believe it is that dangerous, due to the fact that you probably wouldnt leave your pikmin attacking it anyways
@@zoidslayer8187
I guess you have a point
I really like that the Peckish is the only enemy to interact with the charge function. It'll stretch its legs to avoid the attack and stun most of your squad, leading to 3 deaths
New Players seeing Man-at-Legs: "Oh cool. Interesting scuffle."
Veteran Pikmin Players seeing Man-at-Legs: "LOOK WHAT THEY DID TO MY BOY!"
At least they didn't botch the Waterwraiths return. Sure they made WW easier but at least it still felt threatening.
nah I think waterwraith was nerfed more, manatlegs was just put under unfortunate circumstances (oatchi and moss letting you just circle around the boss)
in terms of music though they were both buffed heavily
Another positive in pikmin 4 with the withering blow hog is that it runs in fear when you use ultra spicy spray and move towards it
Four really added great little details.

Bulbmin and Spektralids in the same tier feels really off. Sure Bulbmin are helpful, but as an enemy they're usually pretty tough, especially in Submerged Castle where you don't have Purples
Yeah I mentioned they can be annoying. They’re like mini bulbears in some cases, but me personally thought of them more helpful than harmful
The reason why wollywogs were renamed is because wog is a slur.
Edit:thank you all so much for 134 likes (:
Ooooooooh that makes sense.
They outta change the term pollywog as well, which is obviously where the got the name wollywog.
Kinda weird that it took them that long to change it, though. Like the names were only change in the Switch port of 1 and 2, along with 4. Not even 3 Deluxe or Hey Pikmin.
*Edit*
Ok, so they did change the names in the U.K release of the wii ports of Pikmin 1 and 2 and every game afterward. It was just the U.S. versions that kept Wollywogs until the Switch ports and 4 which changes the name in all regions.
yeah you wog
really, wollywog was changed due to it being 1 letter off from a british slur against black people if i recall correctly
Take a shot every time you complain about the auto lock-on.
I was really sick today and watching this well-crafted and narrated video helped in me not thinking of the horrible pain I was in. Great job dude.
Thanks dude! Hope you feel better
You can actually do the night missions without spawning the Smoky Proggs by finding their eggs and breaking them before they hatch. Fighting one or none is better than two or any.
Foolix actually does appear a second time in Trial of the Sage Leaf! he's quite interesting there as the purples counter him well, but you also are forced to go as fast as possible. Titan Blowhog also appears in two places, Shipwreck tale as well as Cavern for a King.
I feel bad for completely butchering the first few phases of Sirehound via full squad of glow pikmin
(I had yet to use a single glowseed and thought the final cave was a fitting occasion)
I personally didnt want to use any glow seeds if i didnt have to, and i didnt, until the electricity phase of ancient sirehound. The thing is, i wanted to beat the cavern for a king in one shot, no returning to the surface, so i was stuck with purple, blue, and white pikmin the whole time. The thing is, if you don’t destroy the electric hairballs, they NEVER go away. I thought it was a fun challenge to dodge them while attacking at first, but then they became completely unavoidable. Thats when i used my first (and only) glow seeds of my entire run. Just so i could destroy the electric hairballs
So that fight at 1:21:47 was literally the worst fight of the entire game for me, it always felt like I should've had enough time to get all my pikmin back and jump, but it never was. I reset that fight like 8 TIMES before I just chucked 3 bombs, popped a spicy spray and rushed to instakill. To whoever is responsible for that fight I hope you are minorly inconvenienced today.
is it literally just me that one-cycled it without using spicy spray? idk if i just had a good pikmin squad or what but it was honestly an easy fight. just charge at the head with oatchi and it dies in like 10 seconds before it can wake up
Yeah, likely a better squad. I also was down to about 75 as I was determined to do the whole dungeon in 1 go, and only reset on massive failures. I also learned that depending on exactly the angle you hit the head with Oatchi, the number of pikmin that actually land *on* the head vary significantly.
I just threw 10 purples to her head and as soon as she moved (before doing the shake off animation) I wisthled them back and jump. Pretty neat fight
Ancient sire hound was infuriating the first time I didn’t buy the electric upgrades. Also the final phase will always be at least a little annoying. Though when I understood the boss it was satisfying I loved it.
I love Gatling groinks I know that’s definitely a hot take but they should have been in pikmin 4
No....just no.
Kinda sucks that pikmin enemies have been nerfed in later titles. I wish they would release more dlcs like splatoon 2's octo expansion because that difficulty is what I want to be brought back in these nintendo game.
Swarming Sheargrubs DO have the capability to kill Pikmin, or rather get Pikmin killed. If you have Pikmin idle and the Swarming Sheargrubs pass by, the Pikmin will attempt to chase after them. And they're so fast that they'll all too often lure the Pikmin in front of more dangerous enemies before the Pikmin kill them. Has happened to me more than a few times when I was focused on multitasking and forgot to find and kill the swarm
So I just replayed pikmin 1 recently and the Emperor Bulblax would not stop jumping during his second phase. Should've been called the Mario Bulblax considering how much he was jumping.
One of my favorite things about this franchise is the sheer variety of enemies. Thanks for all the work you put into this video!
The greater jellyfloat can suck up captains but you need the resistance to sucking or blowing gear off to see it
You forgot the 2 golden long legs at the end of olimar’s comeback (I forgive you because they are forgettable and disappointingly easy)
They don't even have a unique name i believe
@@CreamIc7I Call Them "Goldy Long Legs" And "Blondy Long Legs"
Hard disagree on the careening derigibugs. Between how deadly the bomb rocks are, how small the openings to attack are, the fact they're often in groups, and the fact that they're almost always near pits, I'd put them in tier 6 at least.
Also, IDK why you ranked the harmless ones before the helpful ones. Seems like it should be the other way around.
Otherwise, great video. I'm glad you seperated the wollywogs and Emperor Bulblax into different groups, given how different they are in the later games
I was amazed to see them not right near the top of the list. If they wern't often positioned in such a way a missed throw sends your pikmin into a pit, they'd be fine though.
This is fantastic! Would love to see more great pikmin content in the future!
Can’t wait to watch this all in one sitting
Update. Great watch
Now I now this video is going to be good

"Instead of pushing pikmin away,"
*shows footage of blowhog blowing pikmin away*
Thanks for ranking,I might add them to categories later
5:25 ngl when I first saw this thing I was terrified of it since big beasts tend to be deadly, but after fighting one you realize they are barely a threat
6:02 This one I saw it, and instantly likened it to the female version, never saw it do anything other than run in terror from my Pikmin so when I first heard it actually did something I was surprised
Very nice video, chief. I havent seen much on Pikmin 4, so to discover some of my favs made an HD return makes me excited to try and get it. Shame some enemies arent present like mr. Rolly Lobster and my boy Dirigibug but ya cant have everything! 😊
Holy moly, the algorithm really blessed this video of yours!
as a lone anode beetle I'd like to thank you for acting to raise public awareness of the plight of anode beetles everywhere. it is time society learns to move beyond the stigma lone anode beetles have been forced to suffer under in the past
You know he’s a chad when he includes the Ujadani. 7:38
I would honestly love a spin off where you observe the creatures and maybe take photos of them.
Low key ranking, thnx for the soothing narration
I want to add the fact that in Pikmin 3 you can destroy the Aristocrabs claw with a wollywog jumping on it. Always satisfying to pull off
About Honeywisps dropping Mitites, this only happens in Pikmin 2 because every egg has a 5% chance to contain 10 Mitites. Mitites are fixed spawns in 4 so Honeywisps can never drop them. (Source: Pikipedia)
Go away tier: “I hate this so much but I kinda miss it”
Thank you for validating my feelings on the auto-lock on and Oatchi.
At best the auto lock on makes things too unnecessarily easy, and at worst it gets in the way if trying to throw pikmin at stuff when there's a bunch of targets. And Oatchi, of course, is just too strong. Enough that when I replay 4 I plan on refusing to use Oatchi for anything where he isnt explicitly required.
The Armored Mawdad is even less threatening when you know that it instantly dies if you break both of it's mandibles
he doesn't? he just can't eat your pikmin. But noe that I think about, I've never played on normal difficulty.
@@capitanpastabase6342 you're right. I must've just gotten really lucky with the timing
@@capitanpastabase6342Actually He Can Eat Your Pikmin If They Get Trapped Around His Mandibles Then He Just Sticks His Tounge Out Then Eat Your Pikmin But This Also Happens Even If His Mandibles Are Broken
Of the numerous critters we've met over the years my favorites have to be the Snagrets, they fascinate me, and I'm sincerely hoping that a future entry formerly introduces us to the Snarrows.
Gatling Groink can damage enemies to with the shots. Man-at-Legs will shoot to a nearest captain and pikmin for bait. Wollywogs and Yellow Wollywogs are easily baitable by captain moving spots where it cannot be attacking pikmin. In pikmin 2 Wollywogs can be stunned by Purple pikmin if they are not in the water.
The snootwackers can knock back bombs, I tried exploding them with a bomb rock once, it didn’t go well
oof
There’s one in Olimar’s shipwrecked tale next to a part where plunder palace (breadbug cave) is and moss can’t get up there so you pretty much have to use explosives
I think he forgot that the brace boots stop bubbles and heavy winds from effecting him, every wind effect can effect the captain to my knowledge
Do brace boots count as a cheese tactic against enemies like jellyfloats like using purples cause they’re immune to winds as well?
Oh yeah, I forgot the boots in Pikmin 4 prevent captains from being sucked up by enemies. I knew they weren’t blown back by wind though. I don’t think bubbles apply though
39:26, fun little tidbit about the Tusked Blowhog, is that if they get a hold of Pikmin with their jaws, which I noticed rarely happens in my playthrough of the game, they are an enemy that can actually crush rock pikmin in their jaws, I was so suprised the first time it happened to me
About this 43:30 in Pikmin you were able to save a Pikmin that was caught by a Male Sheargrub by hitting it directly with a throw. Same thing applied ti the Shearwigs, granted it’s hard to even get a direct aim (unless playing new play controls)
38:22 you can chuck bombs into their mouth doing a one shot! I actually discovered that on my own and its how russ ran out of materials to make bombs every single time i went back to camp.
I remember the fact that I actually avoided doing the Submerged Castle until after finishing the debt repayment, and even then I used cheats to give myself infinite bitter sprays to deal with the Waterwraith. I don't know why, but the first time I encountered it I just sprayed the hell out of it over and over again. It eventually just vanished for no apparent reason, following minutes of being unable to move. I think it got annoyed with being stunlocked, since it never showed up again until the obligatory boss fight on the last floor
The snagret is such a cool enemy, very cool design and they're neat to battle
Agree on Male Sheargrubs. They are very annoying. They are really only a threat if you don't pay attention to them (i.e. Pikmin carrying something out of sight) but there always seems to be that one time in a Pikmin game where they get you.
1:33:50 And those, right there, are my exact main problems with Pikmin 4. The auto lock-on, the enemies being too easy, and the fact that they don't respawn really stinks!
Just want to point out that in pikmin 1, if the sheargrubs grab a pikmin they arent immune to death. If you threw a pikmin on its head as it was eating a pikmin, then it would die instantly, at least in the switch version
I like the harmless and/or redundant enemies for worldbuilding. Feeling alive and real is a big part of Pikmin's appeal to me.
Based and dandori-pilled. And i agree that the only real flaw that absolutely needs to change is the auto lock on.
Fun fact about the Waterwraith in P2: very similarly to Pikmin 4 it actually does appear a second time. There is a challenge mode stage called Bully Den in which you're chased by two Waterwraiths. Only one less WW total than P4! It's just a bit more out of the way.
Also, there are mods for Pikmin 4 that both make enemies respawn and remove the lockon feature entirely, and it works on console :) You're welcome
So in Pikmin 2 caves, once you get the fists upgrade, I usually just kill Cannon Bulborbs with Olimar/Louie and don't even bring Pikmin. Let their rocks kill other enemies then kill them with the Captains.
If you wanted to die of alcohol poisoning you could take a shot every time he complains about auto lock on
Do it, you won’t 😁
Nice video
Moss doesnt actually need to be injured to get your Pikmin back, she drops them off in front of the bunker so you can just collect them by a whistle. 😊
the fact that you put the skeeterskates higher than FOUR pikmin 3 bosses is hilarious.
Bruh your character in Pikmin 4 is the EXACT same as mine lol, even the double purple hair and spacesuit
So I had a random group of red Pikmin kill a Creeping Chrysanthemum that respawned in Awakening Woods on Pikmin 2 (actually one in your picture) and I had forgot about respawn when group was carrying something. I came by and found enough Pikmin dead that they couldn't carry it anymore but saw the dead Creepy Chrysanthemum next to them.
15:01 : They just dont die, harmless tier for me.
They definitely do die in Pikmin 2; maybe it was changed but I don't think so?
This video needs more attention from the pikmin community
I would honestly swap the joustmite and cloaking burrownet. The burrownet is much easier to kill. Swarm it’s front which I can personally always do. It stabs one of my Pikmin but I always kill it before it eats any. Might be preference.
I always thought the burrownit was more annoying imo. I could never swarm it properly until after it attacked one of my Pikmin and they would end up dying. I never played the Switch version, only the Gamecube one so maybe it's easier there
I really feel like freezing should act like a weaker dance gas where it takes like a second or two for the pikmin to unfreeze when you whistle them. Feels really insignificant the way it is now
1:35:27
Waterwraith: "ARGH I am the main threat I'll kill all of your pikmin!!1!"
Anode dweevil: "I call this one a "Tier 7 Maneuver""
Honestly Pikmin 4 creeping chrysanthemums are way harder than the original due to the fact that the CC used to decide it’s attack WAY earlier than when it’d actually do it like it’d start turning to a Pikmin next to it and like two seconds after that guy is gone it’ll attack meaning if you know how to exploit that you can swarm with a chunky squad right after for an easy one cycle or repeat for around two. Honestly would’ve far preferred that instead of retconning one of the best guys ever they just had it be a new enemy or a different relative or something kinda like the bulborb breadbug thing.
0:17 auto aim is both a blessing and a curse. You can auto aim, but on the downside, you auto-aim.
Skrew you I love the auto lock on (Butt i lov this video)
I actually really miss the Pileated Snagret. It was one of my favourite bosses because of the challenge it gave.
I always like the peckish aristocrab only because of a satisfying crunch sound effect it makes when eating one, always makes me jealous that i can't step on pikmin and it make a crunch sound too
The Smoky Proggs weren't hard to deal with for me. I just found out where their eggs were and made sure to break them before they had a chance to hatch.
I'd put the normal Dwarf Bulborb above the others as in Pikmin 1 it can wake the big Bulborb up, and are used alongside other enemies more effectively
I’m glad I’m not the only one that despises the Auto lock on
I felt that last electric dweevil clip lmao
Luckily you can cheese Progg by running away until it goes back to camping Onions. Soon as it turns to return to them, you reposition so you’ll face its front from a good throwing spot and barrage it as it finishes its roar. This of course all assumes you have 100 pikmin out already and run about with 20-30 pikmin ready to actually fight it with you (get ready to call them right when you think he’s gonna shake them off, so they won’t eat dirt).
I go with the theory that the Submerged Castle is like that due to a mix of factors: First, the Waterwraith is implied to be connected to the Plasma Wraith somehow, second Olimar remarks in the Piklopedia that the Waterwraith didn't seem like a living being more like a weird dimensional being, third is the idea that the Submerged Castle happens once the captains are worn and tired from their expedition and are starting to hallucinate while in the caverns. So all those factors tied together makes the Submerged Castle feel more like an Eldritch horror than a standard cave.
33:53 AND HE’S STOLEN A DRAGON EGG! YOU’VE GOT TO TRACK HIM DOWN AND GET THAT EGG!! RUN!! RUN!!!!
Glad someone got that reference
@@cplegogame25 Spyro 1 was the first game I ever beat and hearing it being mentioned anywhere always makes me happy. Also yeah, those trees in Misty Bog always used to scare the crap out of me… Those and the big gnorc in the tunnel in Dark Hollow
The empress can actually roll over her own larva killing them, so it makes it easier
The anchient dire hound and giant gildermander are my fave bosses from 4, really kept me on my toes, and I used ice pikmin liberally so having them to offset my groove is fun. Speaking if not fun empress bulblax in pikmin 4, cave of heroes empress from 2 was already a pain, but in 4 they made her so much easier but worse, lost my whole squad so many timea

Played pikmin once when i was 7, now im watching randomizers and hour and a half long tier lists of enemies of all the games. I always thought the game looked interesting, but i realized that they arent as big as i would have thought. Maybe its better to watch than play
Also Pikmin 1 had dwarf bulbares that took 2 Pikmin throws on its back, so Pikmin 4 re-introduced that mechanic again
Brain: Wollywogs form pikmin 3 & 4
Me: THE WOLLY WOGS ARE IN ALL PIKMIN GAMES
It would be cool to see a foolix but instead of looking like nectar, it looks like ultra spicy spray
I would have thought the helpful tier would be below the harmless tier, given that being helpful makes them even less enemy like than just not doing anything, but I guess it doesn't matter that much, otherwise 100% agree with the placements
I once made a fiery bulblax completely harmless
I found the Pikmin 4 waterwraith to generally be far easier than before for obvious reasons though if you got trapped in normal gameplay in a corner like in Pikmin 2 due to not get the line up horn until post game he’d actually have a buff if this fact was ever used rather than just having big loops of rooms.
btw, the reasons Wollywogs were renamed to Wollyhops in the EU and now all other regions is because it is one letter away from being a racial slur in the UK and Ireland, Which is why I would usually avoid using its old US name
Oof, that sucks to hear
A cool glitch happened when i was playing pikmin 1 where when one of my red pikmin became a puffmin, it was still acting like a regular pikmin as it started attacking the puffstool. It also helped hold the ship part that drops from the puffstool.
