Q: Is this just your previous Pikmin Versus videos compiled into one?
A: 90%? Every segment has new edits, information, and corrections to a few mistakes. Basically this is the intended way to watch this series of videos.
I miss your editing from older videos since I loved watching "top 20 pokemon that shouldn't exist" and "top 20 worst kirby power ups". Your more current videos just doesn't have the same flare.

@@ciancaldera395no new funky mode?
@@antonissa8345 You know the whole "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" saying? While I don't always 100% agree with said saying, I think it fits pretty well here. Nothing was really prompting you to say this, nothing in the world will improve by you saying this, really all you did is insult someone's work for no real reason. Maybe don't leave comments like this in the future?
One note: the issue of not being able to throw pikmin while going up a slope in 3 is actually because the pikmin are too far away from your captain for them to reach
Gran Turismo 4, done saved you a hour
Ah yes, Gran Turismo 4. The peak of the Pikmin series.
I’d argue for Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, it’s REALLY fun playing with friends.
(It’s cops vs robbers but both sides have gadgets, they share spike strips and e.m.p.’s but the other two gadgets are team specific)
@@ciancaldera395 Ah, I love cops vs robbers in my Pikmin Multiplayer.

Why did Nintendo not expand on Pikmin 3's bingo battle in 4. Instead we got diet challenge mode
Yeah it kinda sucks lol. I hate when game companies backtrack with awesome concepts instead of building on them, especially in more obscure/niche franchises like pikmin
Maybe they thought if they released Pikmin 3 Deluxe people would have Bingo Battles there, but that's still an excuse for either laziness or time mismanagment.
@@StoryTeller796 the irony that the devs poor dandori lead to 4s dandori mode.
@dean9472 Wait a second, modded or actual 4s Dandori mode?
Oh, nevermind, I misunderstood that. What you meant is that the Devs practiced poor Dandori for this 4th game, not that the game had a four way fight mode.
@@Joosher56sonic fans: "first time?"
I’d definitely say Pikmin 3, not only bc of childhood nostalgia, but just how fun bingo battle is
I remember choosing that map in Pikmin 2 with the bomb rocks on it all the time as a kid. I found out that you could actually activate the bomb by punching it, picking it up, then running with an active bomb in your hands straight into the enemy. I got so many wins via Pikmin Extinction that way.
Kamikaze Olimar strats sound so funny that is amazing
If I remember correctly, back when me and my cousin used to play Bingo Battle at like 14 years old we had a Gentleman's Rule where if you were going to use the Rock item, you had to loudly do a 3 or 5 second countdown to give your opponent time to react (can't remember exactly how long the countdown was)
I don't think it necessarily fixed the problem but it did result in some fun counterplay.
Nobody remembers the pikmin 1 battle mode (which makes sense because it’s unlocked through a secret button combo you only see in the credits), it’s olimar vs fiddlebert, Olimar has reds and fiddlebert has the battle exclusive green pikmin (in code a carbon copy of reds).
There’s about 5 maps which for the short dev time of pikmin 1 is a lot (even if they’re just remixes versions of the 5 in game maps), for perspective the resources put into this hidden sub-mode that maybe like 5 people even knew existed before it became more well-known from the internet would’ve been enough to make a whole new area as big as forest of hope or forest navel.
For those who haven’t played it I recommend it if you can get someone to play it with you, it doesn’t hold up incredibly well and there aren’t any power ups or anything but it makes for a funny play session.
I guess you could say its

When my friend and I play, we just tell each other when we have a boulder and they drop their Pikmin and move away. Making them stop what they are doing and wander in a direction for a few seconds, maybe have their captain take damage, and move back to what they are doing, seems like a fair enough item usage so it's not like it's completely wasted, but not also too broken.
Thank you 🙏🏻
I was yelling "just leave the Pikmen and run away!!!!"
You know, i was just about to binge all of your pikmin battle mode videos back to back, but i guess if there's a definitive version, then i'll just watch this 3 times instead. Sounds reasonable.
Bro is just rubbing in how he has friends who like to play Pikmin! 😭😭😭
Finally, a new video to rewatch endlessly, instead of jumping between the 3 separate ones
Great review, you hit all the important points. This is the first time I've seen a review of pikmin by someone who has actually played the battle mode enough to understand the strategies and balance.
I think you could have been harsher on the controls in pikmin 4. It's so hard to do what you want to do in pikmin 4. Losing the wii/wii u pointer controls is already a huge downgrade, but the buttons don't do what you want either lol. It's like the game has already decided how it will be played and you just have to deal with it
My memories of versus mode consist of convincing my friend to play one round, having a ton of fun, and then stopping right after cause he got bored. I still love this mode in all the games but where the hell are you gonna find another person who likes Pikmin?
I didn't even know pikmin had multiplayer outside of nintendo land
Any possibility of a Mario Kart Retrospective? I love just listening to your videos when I mow the lawn!
Some notes on Pikmin 3's Bingo Battle that might improve your enjoyment with it, as written by the asshole who wrote the Pikipedia strategy section on it:
-The game unequivocally encourages screen-peeking. The game is at its most enjoyable when players are able to know exactly what is going on with their opponent; hence the really pronounced SFX for things like cherry roulettes and item triggering. This is slightly more clear if you play the game with the originally intended Wii U gamepad and dual Wii remote setup. This is also a major shortcoming of Pikmin 3 Deluxe, since its map blocks your screen but leaves your opponent's screen clear.
-A lot of the items make more sense with the context of screen peeking. For a start, lightning is actually quite useful in disabling your opponent while they're engaging enemies. It also has some use in triggering opponent bomb rocks (although keep in mind that electrocuted Pikmin are unaffected by explosions due to what I can only assume is a programming error that doesn't allow status conditions to overlap).
-The boulder storm is a pressure item, and you're supposed to keep an eye on your friend's roulette to notice when it's being readied. There is no way to avoid it consistently due to its massive spawn radius around the player and speed, as you demonstrated. There are, however, ways to be clever about it. Standing near enemies when it's used against you can result in some easy kills, and standing near any raised objects can potentially offer protection. The reason it's a pressure item is because it effectively prevents you from starting any new tasks that require large groups of Pikmin to be carried around. The major disadvantage for your opponent, however, is that they can only keep the pressure on you so long as they DON'T use the item; preventing them from getting items that may benefit them. If you're clever, it can actually allow you to put pressure on your opponent, by restricting opportunities where they would want to let it go to waste or give you an advantage.
-Pikmin brawls are, unlike in Pikmin 2, greatly discouraged. They are messy and hard to control; and effectively only good for biding time. Since Pikmin respawn after being killed in brawls, they are also heavily weighted in favour of the player whose Onion is closest to the fight. This is intended game design; you're supposed to fight as an absolute last resort. Battles are weighed heavily in favour of the defender, not the aggressor; sometimes regardless of how large their armies are compared to each other. This is a big change from Marble Battle, but it is part of Bingo Battle's greater encouragement of planning and strategy over brute strength (Marble Battle's major weakness, in my eye). Additionally, Pikmin are actually quite simple to control in fights since they act by very simple rules. They will prioritise brawling over items or enemies, and will thus always attack other Pikmin when thrown. When CHARGED, however, they prioritise the item being focused on. The reason they may still end up in brawls after this fact is as a result of Pikmin attacking THEM, instead. I'll also note that Ultra-Spicy spray does actually improve the chances of winning brawls, but maturity doesn't.
-The stages are a lot more balanced than it seems. My Bingo Battle buddy and myself are still constantly not sure if the fortress or the floor is the better location to spawn in. The fortress essentially gives you full access to most treasures from the start, and a significant amount of control over the map. The disadvantage of actually carrying items back to base being a nightmare is the major hurdle, but luck and good strategy can assure a lot of consistent wins. Rusted Labyrinth also isn't entirely broken due to the fact that the lower player can still gain access to the upper floor, but it's not quite as balanced regardless. In all my time playing, I never found that any of the maps present a significant advantage to one player that the other doesn't have. That's just me, though.
-This is sort of a personal opinion, but I see Deluxe as a pretty major downgrade in a lot of ways. Even beyond the somewhat confusingly designed map display, it's just very obvious that the game wasn't designed to be played in this state. The controls are clumsy and confusing, there are FAR more bugs for some reason, and the changes to things like charging can severely affect the complex balance that items have, as well as the nature of brawling with other Pikmin entirely.
-Buried Pond sucks.
The castle style maps definitely give a big advantage to the person on the bottom (outside the castle) across pikmin 3 and 4. I have several hundred hours logged on pikmin 3 and the person on top of the castle in that game sometimes just has no chance of winning. We just don't even play on it anymore since it's not fun for either player. In pikmin 4 the maps are smaller so it's a smaller advantage to be on the bottom, but there's also multiple maps like that so overall the balance is still bad.
I didn't realize how many problems Pikmin 4's versus mode had. I've never had anyone to play Pikmin with, so Pikmin 4 was the first time I could actually play a battle mode since it has CPU opponents. I thought it was fun, but I didn't have anything else to compare it to. Still wish that 3 had online Bingo Battle.
Wii tanks guy to Pikmin versus mode guy
What a leap
Saying that Pikmin 4 has the worst one so you don't have to
Oh no.
The answer is Pikmin 2 4 player battle. One of the best mods for Pikmin.
thanks for giving me an excuse to rewatch these! good videos!
i do appreciate how at least we have 3 very different vs experiences, rather than just 1 formula nintendo keeps reusuing. It helps make each game feel different, and it's why I like each vs mode for different reasons rather than having one clear favorite.
Every time I've played this (which is quite a lot with 5-6 different people) we always truce the rock item, and either give a warning we will use it in 2-3 seconds, intentionally only use it when the other player has 10 or fewer pikmin nearby, or sometimes say the rock means you can no longer use cherry items and have it as a hindrance. I don't know anyone who thinks it's ok to just use it and let it carry out carnage on the other player cause we all think it's not fun to just upset the game that much.
I honestly like the 2 battle mode the most
But we can all agree dandori battle is the worst one
Did you know that for 3 and 4, winged pikmin usually don’t instakill 1 pellet posies instead of flying and attaching on to them, but if you go under the pellet and throw a winged pikmin it’ll instakill the pellet
thats pikked up
this kinda makes me wish someone tries to make a pikmin battle fangame combining the best elements of each mode
How about Pikmin 3's Bingo Battle with the map design philosophy of Pikmin 2 using themes from the story mode of Pikmin 4 with Pikmin 4's item competition (without the permanent laying down when knocked off part, obviously) and sneak bomb that causes half of your opponent's bingo entries to be ejected from their onion for you to collect?
A well written pikmin video of the modes I love with lots of splatoon music in the background?
Have a new sub
Bingo Battle is Peak! P2 2 Player Battle holds up Surpringsly well & Dandori Battle whilst not being anywhere as good as the other two, still can be a decent time.
pikmin 3 multiplayer is kinda like troll face simulator. me or my sister begging eachother not to use the boulder item and then using it was the funniest thing at the time
Fun Fact: Pikmin 2 versus was the first time my sister(older than me) won against me in a game in a really long time.
The preface was exactly what i was thinking when i clicked the video lol
Esteemed colleagues,
I present myself as an engineer, a profession dedicated to the resolution of practical challenges. My expertise lies not in philosophical contemplations, such as the elusive nature of beauty, but in the realm of tangible problem-solving.
Consider a scenario where a formidable adversary threatens to inflict significant structural damage upon my person. In such a circumstance, I propose a straightforward solution: the utilization of a firearm. Should this initial measure prove insufficient, the escalation to a more potent firearm is warranted.
I trust this concise explanation adequately conveys my approach to problem-solving.
Thank you for your attention.
Ok Dubble whistle is to prevent you from accidently just removing all your picmin when you didn't want to that's why I like it
I think the answer is that multiplayer is not the core of Pikmin. Of course, the battle modes made the games more robust in what they could offer to players. But it is not the thesis of Pikmin, like it is for Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart and Splatoon. Still, I would love to see an attempt at a versus mode that has almost as much billing as the story, because as an RTS there is so much possibility for a good competitive game.
I'm surprised you didn't point out how cheap it is to just take the pre-existing battle mode from Pikmin 4's story and just make it the only option for VS, when the bingo battle is a completely new, fully fleshed game mode built from the ground up for VS.
I still have great memories playing bingo battle with my cousin during family gatherings, but that makes sense because it’s so dang fun!
Man I so wish i could find more people playing bingo battle. Its such a great game and i can only find like 3-4 TH-camrs who played it and only did lke 1 rounds most of the time which i understand but i love to see the caos
the way that you described the 2p battles is exactly how I feel about the games themselves with 2 being my favorite 3 being probably the best and 4 being so close to being perfect that is upsets me. I wish there was a way to turn off some of the really annoying things that are in 4
Honestly, your thoughts on P4s battle mode reflect a lot of my thoughts on the game in general. Almost every change to 4 (and even 3 Deluxe to a lesser extent) simplifies the game and discards what the first 3 games introduced and evolved on. Combat, which was once incredibly nuanced and dynamic was completely killed, now being reduced to nothing more than a glorified cutscene or worse, a 5 second inconvenience. Caves have undergone so many changes that they might as well be like the Pikmin 3 "caves". I could go on but it was just a huge disappointment for me, especially with how previous entries chose to evolve concepts rather than remove them.
But which pikmin is the cutest?
imo yellows
My brother and I just warn each other when we get the boulder
When I was a boy - all the neighborhood children would play pikmin 2 battle mode. This one kid was an absolute prodigy - undefeated. But only when he put the controller on the floor and played with his bare feet. Whenever it was toe boys turn he would peel off his putrid socks and yell “it’s tootsie time!” I prefer bingo battle personally.
The best rock defense is to throw your Pikmin like a mad man all over the place
we already know its pikmin 3. nothing beats the bingo mode
in bingo battle just go under the onion if you're close enough because it breaks the boulders
They removed the picking from pikmin?! That’s like removing the pockets in pocket monsters.
I really like these versus modes, but if only they can be play online. Also, Dandori battle needs more maps. 6 is too small and that's saying something when Pikmin 2 versus have 10 maps and they're random.
I thought this was a video ranking the Pikmin based on how good they are on the VS Mode, forgetting you already did that lol.
with the blue bois in vs battle having a higher attack strength, if they were to have this 1.5x damage boost in the base game in pikmin 2 onwards, how drastically would the tier list change?
Also great vid, here’s to hoping for pikmin 5 before the heat death of the universe
Hi silowhawk, I know this is kind've unrelated, but I remember you mentioning that you were gonna make a Pikmin 4 review. Do you still plan on doing that or nope?

Tbh i think the biggest flaw of pikmin 3's pvp is lack of any sort of online play.
Anyone else think that wing pikmin should be immune to falling off of the map?
Fun fact: in pikmin 4 dandori battle you can hit the opposing captain when thow pikmin at them
i REALLY hope someone at nintendo sees this before they make 5.
ANOTHER SILOKHAWK VIDEO :D
Me, I’m the best Pikmin battle mode.
I'm hoping for bingo battle in the DLC when they add in challenge mode.
Pikmin 1 has the best vs mode
I think its called leafy showdown because in the story mode leaflings have leaves
My favourite is still Pikmin 2's but Pikmin 3 is also very much enjoyable. Pikmin 4 I haven't personally played as I bought it for my little sister instead of myself. I look forward to playing it with her next time I visit my family's house.
Throwing those Pikmin 3 cartridges was not necessary 😢😢😢
1:17:31 r.i.p. all the pikmin
not pikmin 4.
I would 100% play a dedicated Pikmin multiplayer game. Call it PIKMIN DANDORI BATTLE!
Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the answer
Really hate the Switch for making the worst titles in nearly every respective franchise become record-breaking best-sellers.

I just... never had any issues with the boulders, they were always really simple for me to avoid? though I watch my opponents item roll, if I see that then they use it I know the timing for it, but I was trained by pikmin 2's caves
Pikmin 3 is one of the best co op games of all time
it’s 3
It’s 3
Interesting that the Pikmin Wiki section was taken out from the Pikmin 2 section. Was it taken out due to it being fixed after the video was made?
Are you still doing a full Pikmin 4 review?
Pikmin 4 is like Mario Kart Wii: its main mode is amazing but its side mode is mediocre asf
during this video i went to ebay and bought pikmin 2
Wait you can’t force the what stage you want in the switch version?
I knew it was random by default but I didn’t know if was always randomly generated
I have tested it on my switch. You can force the maps. But it does default to randomly generated.
Reminder that Pikmin is single player and only 4% of the fans will play the multiplayer
This video won't make Nintendo make a better MP in 5
4%? Oddly specific
Pikmin 2 & 3: Makes amazing battle mode but barely acknowledges its existence
Pikmin 4: Makes mediocre battle mode and spends the whole story promoting it
The answer is pikmin adventure's.
Its 2 but 3 is also epic
i wish i could play these modes but nobody wants anything to do with me when it comes to multiplayer
:(
Same, and if with a stroke of luck someone does, they’re always too busy to do so
hello silo
Pikmin 1.
Pikmin 4 multiplayer in general is just disappointing.
First off, there’s no second captain. You can’t use another custom character, you can’t use olimar.. nothing. Basically removing the element of multitasking.
Then, even after that.. they give you the dog, which is more like playing as a Pikmin than a captain.. and it’s a heavy afterthought.
And even after that, the second player in the story mode doesn’t control the dog.. IT CONTROLS A ROCK THROWER.. literally, it’s just “little brother mode”.. since all you can do.. is throw a tiny pebble that does 2 damage.
And that’s not even starting, on Dandori.
The answer is not Pikmin 4
Pikmin 1?
27:31 huh?
You called Olimar, Olimer, at the start of the Pikmin 2 section 💀

i want to be a femboy. i wish i woke up in the arms of my husband as i nuzzle deeply into his chest, feeling his soft breathing brush against my hair and hearing the gentle heartbeat within his chest. then when we both wake up, we could both eat breakfast together, talking about all the things we enjoy, like pikmin 3's bingo battle, or the latest video that silk hawk uploaded. then my husband takes me to the gym and we workout together. we occasionally steal glances, seeing each others progress. the sweat glistening on his body is what comforts me the most, and i know he would be able to protect me from any and all dangers. i want to be as strong as him someday so i could do the same as well. after that, we have dinner at a fancy restaurant. maybe he teases me a little there, i'm not exactly known for being high browed. in fact, i'm quite crude occasionally. once the night falls and we're both exhausted, my husband would carry me to the bed, then he would pull me close. after a long day, it felt nice to finally be enveloped by the familiar warmth of my husband's embrace. 'tomorrow, we'll do it again.' i'd think to myself, before finally falling into a deep sleep in the silent night. the last thing i heard before succumbing to sleep was my husband's gentle voice. "good night."
