Which Enemy In Pikmin 4 Can Eat The Most Pikmin?

- Typically we do Pikmin challenges, but in this video we're doing a Pikmin experiment, to determine which enemy in Pikmin 4 has the biggest appetite and can eat the most Pikmin. The answer might surprise you.
RIP Pikmin
/ pressa
I just wanted to mention that I know this isn't a perfect science, some eating enemies were neglected, and that some enemies may have been robbed. This is more meant to be a fun and entertaining video and not taken too seriously. We appreciate you all as always!
I appreciate y’all as well!
Flawed experiments are never fun :(
While I did enjoy it I did find that the biggest thing this video did for me was want to see/make a video with all of them with actual eat rates that considers how fast they get consumed over time properly
I didn't even get the satisfaction of seeing which number was the biggest at the end because it was just an edge case lol
I'll have it find it
Probably one of those ones that ate 20
But hey, I'm sure it would have been a lot of work to do it that way so I'll leave it alone lol
i think a better way to do this would have been to see how long it takes each enemy to eat a fixed number of pikmin.
I’m so sorry I disliked I mean I can’t have all animals dying in the food chain. I mean it’s just life anywhere. I just can’t think about murder on those poor creatures. I can tell Pikmin in Mario are not the only ones
This has made me realize how little pikmin you can lose to swallowing. Most deaths are most likely elemental or from crushing.
Which is what makes rock pikmin the goat
Pikmin 4 is also just... Far more merciful than say 1/2
@@1stCallipostle wish pikmin 4 had difficulty and accessibility settings so players could customize if they want respawning overworld enemies and the auto lock on and such, they can be useful for players who are newer or have disabilities regarding their hand use, but other players can find them annoying or boring or simple
Not sure why this video is necessary, we all know Louie is the hungriest.
He is an enemy
He is an enemy after all.
in pikmin 3 he steels all your juice so i guess u are right
I actually think one of the strengths of the franchise is that the enemies really aren't that dangerous, but most people get SO emotionally attached to the Pikmin so quickly that even losing like one or two at a time feels devastating, and because it's such a negative thing you're very likely to make the situation worse if you immediately respond in panic to the sound of Pikmin being grabbed. But even speed runners are likely do have the same panic response because even if they aren't emotionally invested in the Pikmin, losing even one while trying an optimal run can seriously damage the odds of completing a task efficiently.
For me when I play Pikmin I feel responsible for them. They are trusting me to lead them to safety and so when they die I feel like I failed them, even if their death is from them making stupid decisions lol
They got REALLY weak in p3 and better but still weak in p4 but 1 and 2 were genuinely dangerous (2 less so with the purples stun ability) but yeah most deaths would still be from elements, crushing or explosions.
But yeah I wish p4 had a p1/2 difficulty mode, like p3U had "ultra spicy mode" but I want one that's actually difficult
@@pressaTD As someone who has been a camp councilor for grade schoolers, I know that feeling well.
A more effective test would be to time how long it takes an enemy to eat 100 Pikmin to make an average of Pikmin/sec while also registering how much they eat per bite.
Considering his last video was "Pikmin 2 But Every Cave Is Filled With Waterwraiths" I'm starting to wonder if Press A just secretly likes watching Pikmin die. XD
Pikman 2 but every cave is filled with jellyfish should be fun
Hi laser craft
@@Minegames616 Hi.
i see you everywhere…
@@tuna_stuff Yeah cause I watch way too much TH-cam.
That cut was so dirty on the sovereign bulblax 😭
Especially because he was really far away from it so the time it took to walk over to him really screwed the data.
@GreenPikmin not really, he doesn't move for any enemy so their movement is just part of the calculation. Enemies that don't do a sweeping grab just have an advantage due to their hunting techniques.
@@Idunno1707 I was more saying he could have been standing closer but instead he chose to stand very far away.
@@Solscalr that also doesn't change anything, the timer starts on the first killed pikmin, if he moved closer that would risk your player being attacked instead of the pikmin.
@@Idunno1707 they walked closer AFTER first killed pikmin. if they were surrounded like they did for some other enemies they would have had time to swallow
The Dwarf Bulborb actually only ate 4, it started with 98 pikmin.
This information is correct
The Jumbo also ate 16 rather than 8
@@KaguyaHtechnically some pikmin weren’t “eaten”. They hadn’t been swallowed yet.
@drogebot Yes thanks for catching that! I had made a note of that but I guess forgot about it when editing
Blue Pikmin are ironic because in Pikmin 2 they had an increased chance to be eaten first. Like if an enemy bites into your squad it will most likely eat more Blue Pikmin than other colors
Feel like the ones that are 0.1 seconds from being swallowed by the 10th second should still count. It's like 12 dead at 9 seconds but gonna be 16 at 10.1 since they're like 2 frames from being counted
I don’t disagree, I just gave every enemy the same time. But this is not a perfect science lol
Even worse was 15 dead at 9, but frames away from 30 with the Sovereign Bulblax.
This is cruel and unusual for the pikmin, The Council will be hearing about this one, Press A.
But it’s for science!
@@pressaTD It is too late. The Council has already sent many of bomb rocks to your mailbox for your transgressions.
Louie’s secret TH-cam channel
The hungriest doesn't even attempt to eat the pikmin. This is a false variable and his win should be forfeit. Mistrial.
the artic cannon beetle can actually eat pikmin, up to 50 as it eats half the pikmin it inhales while spitting out the other half
Justice for the dessicated skitter leaf, it got royally screwed over
It really did :(
I swear its always the blue pikmin 😭
Ugh I know. That was the one Pikmin I was praying wouldn’t be picked
its always me ;-;
@@STOPPOSTINGABOUTbreadbugred, ice, and white where chosen for some reason
They taste better than other pikmin.
I feel like it would have been better to record the amount per 'bite' and time it takes on average to do a bite and swallow and then show those and an average rate
Fair enough! There’s lots of different ways this experiment could have been approached, I just went with what I thought would work for a fun video
@@pressaTD Well, you managed that! :D
Yeah, but I noticed Bulborbs burp after eating 5 pikmin, but not 4. That means Bulborbs eat pikmin faster 4 at a time instead of 5.
I must say these tests aren't very scientific as they have various variations from standing still to moving, or using a type of pikmin that doesn't make sense to use, such a blue pikmin for the pyroclasmic slooch, which could greatly change the outcome of the test. It also does not feature every enemy that can eat pikmin such as the Tusked Blowhog, Arctic Cannon Beatle or Sirehound.
how does using blue pikmin instead of red pikmin for the pyroclasmic slooch greatly change the outcome of the test? The Pikmin don't get caught on fire, since the fire is on the back of the enemy. Changing to reds has no impact on how many pikmin will get eaten
@@LuckyOwI777 The blue pikmin can't be as close to the Pyroclasmic Slooch and thus the Slooch had less opportunities to eat pikmin. This goes for other creatures in which Press A! didn't remain still or wasn't positioned with pikmin surrounding enemies, that's why some bulborbs didn't eat the same amount of pikmin.
@@merasmusentertainment The slooch would have the same eating animation and timing if it was closer or not. It always had Pikmin in front of it to eat. The amount of Pikmin available wouldn't change. It wouldn't have more opportunities to eat Pikmin.
The reason why some bulborbs ate different amounts of enemies isn't due to spacing, or being slightly further away, or not being surround by Pikmin. They simply have a range of Pikmin they can eat.
You can test this out for yourself. No matter the situtaion, a bulbord will eat various amount of Pikmin each bite.
This goes for other enemies as well, like the creeping crysanthemum. You can see it in this video. It eats 4 Pikmin sometimes, and sometimes it eats 3. Nothing changes about the location of the enemy or pikmin, the spacing, anything.
@merasmusentertainment I recognize this is not a perfect science lol, and the exclusion of some eating enemies was an oversight. I guess I’ll have to look for a better scientist
Who cares?
If you charge 100 Winged pikmin at a clampearl, and do it just right so it doesn't die, it can eat all 100
that's actually quite interesting. so, the Gildemander's regular attacks do have a limit on how many pikmin it can eat at once, but not its lick to get its gold back? even the ever so reliable pikipedia doesnt mention this- saying that all of its licks have no upper limit on how hungry it is.
No but I’m wondering which ennemy has the biggest appetite NOW.
bulbmin wins because its a bulborb blue in 2nd because it has a mouth
@@maxwellreichardt8255 sorry I wrote the wrong word lol
5:32 It was at this moment that I realized that he refers to them as Bulbax instead of Bulblax.
Never realized Pikmin 4 they gave Bulborbs a burp animations instead of them spam eating like they would in 1 and 2. (Never played 3 due to skipping out on the WiiU.) I was used to not losing Pikmin in 4 outside of accidentally throwing them off a cliff.😅
I think another way to measure eating ability would be to start with 20 PIkmin (since that's the max for Glow Pikmin) and then measure the time it takes for each enemy to eat them all - this could give more accurate results since you won't have situations like the Sovereign Bulbax results being worse than the Emperor Bulbax because the timer cut him off a moment before his second swallow.
It would also be nice to see a chart at the end ranking all the enemies and showing how all the results compare!
"Poor blue bulborbs or pikm..." Quote of the month
6:38
Bro really said skip dinner and went straight for dessert
The Joustmite kinda has a terrifying eating animation D:
I am watching this while I am eating
Im sorry, but you robbed the sovering bulblax, you were far away (love the video, but i think that is something you should have taken into account)
Fair enough, I think I was just trying to avoid the captain being licked
I get why Nintendo hate blue pikmin now, they time traveled and watched this video, then took what the wheel said, and said “yeah, blue pikmin suck”
If this is true, we must find what Nintendo is hiding.
Nintendo approves of this blue pikmin bullying 😢
As other people mentionned and even yourself, the data aren't very accurate.
As a scientist myself I would make sure to be as accurate as possible but this video is great nonetheless!
I encourage *everyone* to make any scientist experiments even if the method isn't optimised, because any science is science, and people should stay curious!
I feel like a better test would be how long it takes a single enemy to eat a group of pikmin
I don’t disagree, but I feel like that would have been too long for a video. Granted I could have just fast forwarded the footage, but I felt this approach was better for making a fun video. There would likely be flaws in any test for this
The only thing that annoys me by this video is the gildemander would have won by a landslide if you were any closer. That tongue has no limit on how many pikmin it can pick up at once, meaning if you were any closer, your entire squad could have been taken.
1:24 not blue Pikmin getting the short end of the stick again 😭
They get that in the game in the promotions,in the ducking cover art.
It baffles me that they nerfed bulborbs even more than they did in 3 by adding that burp. Oatchie already nerfs every enemy in the game by default!
Same. They're the most iconic enemy, let them be a danger!
I've got to say, the Toady Bloyster was disturbingly efficient, which caught me off guard.
You know you have to do the inverse of this experiment, right? Which Pikmin 4 enemy is the most hateful of all? They don't need to eat them and the Pikmin are largely not a threat to it before they attack it. They just kill Pikmin because they can.
A lot of the results could have been changed with slight pikmin positioning changes. Like the even bigger emperor bulborg not needing to take a step, which would have lead to another full helping, or some of the needle mouth enemies getting more than 2 in some spikes. Minor things for sure, but for the ultimate pikmin vore tierlist we need peak perfection. Nothing less will do for this historically relevant investigation.
I never realized bulborbs burped before
The “we have a winner!” text on the roulette makes this even better 💀
The blues been through enough already :(
i know ;-;
I think just letting them eat all the 100 Pikmin and taking the time would give a more accurate reading.
I don’t disagree, but waiting for each enemy to eat 100 Pikmin would take a really long time and not be the best for making a fun video
This video made me realize that as a measure to let the player have more of a chance to better fight off bulborbs at a disadvantage, they burp and become pseudo-stunned for a short time so you can get your bearings. That’s so cool :)
There's too many variables not being controlled for plus the arbitrary 10-second cutoff for this data to be at all useful. What would be useful data is the maximum number of pikmin each enemy can kill in 1 attack, how long before they return to their idle state and can eat more pikmin, and the length of time after they start eating the pikmin before the pikmin dies. These are values there are consistent measurements for across all enemies that are easy to control for, rather than the inconsistent distances and resulting suboptimal bites in these results
Well, this video seems to be part of that more "in the moment" type that was described in the pole. Yeah.... id rather the more organized and scripted over the... unenthusiastic in the moment. I cant blame ya for being unenthusiastic but... however, did enjoy the video because i never really sat down and thought about how quickly the pikmin can be devoured. I run pikmin 4 damn near deathless so i never get to see these animations or how... underwhelming some of the enemies truly are, and how absolutely dangerous they can be
Most Scuffed video from you yet, but entertaining
As long as it’s entertaining lol
Why not just do the amount of Pikmin eaten per bite of the enemy? Seems easier and fairer than amount per 10 seconds.
Hope pikmin 5 ends up giving players difficulty and accessibility settings to modify whether or not enemies respawn and to turn on or off auto lock on and such
When you decide you no longer have the skill to beat the enemies so you just feed them instead
YES PIKMIN WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS VIDEO
Now do a version with white pikmin to test how many white pikmin it takes to take out anything that eats them
I like this idea
I say you weren't mean enough for science, you should have made them eat all 100, time them, then calculate the "DPS" down to the 10ths place, that would be more accurate.
Or PPS. Pikmin per second.
I'd argue that we should determine hunger as pikmin/pikmin: pikmin eaten per pikmin gained (by harvesting the body).
1:11
More like guinea PIKS!
Its funny that blue pikmin were used for this experiment, considering enemies prefer eating blue pikmin first
Should do this over again where if they have a pikmin already in their mouth at the end of the 10 seconds, they are allowed to finish their meal, bc a LOT of them would have done way better had they had another second or two to digest them.
Good to see you selected the 'Nintendo Approved' pikmin type to victimise
Immediately you mess up by starting with 98 Pikmin for the Dwarf Bulbord instead of 100. So it only ate 4 Pikmin, not 6. If you're going to do a cool video like this, and want to do it seriously (which is sounds like you do, and that's awesome), thenbe serious about it.
And stay consistent. Most tests you stand still, but there were some that you walked around a bit, and it changed the eating pattern of the enemy. The skitter leaf, for example. You even said "that doesn't count", after moving your pikmin away from getting eating, thus wasting the time for the enemy to eat in a consistent pattern. Also standing so far from the sovereign bulblax definitely impacted the results
Also, just a personal opinion, but you should totally count the Pikmin that are currently in the mouth of the enemy, or in the process of being swallowed. Again, with the sovereign bulblax for example. Plus many more.
You should also do more than one test, and find the average. Some enemies have a range of the Pikmin they eat, so results could slightly vary each time (like with the creeping crysanthemum)
Also, you missed a few enemies that eat pikmin. The Arctic Canon Beetle and the Sirehound. Although I understand why those might have been left out, as they have other attacks and are more difficult to test, you still should have done them with an * or at least noted them. You also forgot the tusked blowhog. No idea why that was left out
such a missed opportunity to make the thumbnail a blue pikmin.
Of course the wheel lands on Blues lol
PS the grub gruckled eat pikmin but you will need to leave him to eat them it worked for me
The worst nerf every bulborb got is that they all burp if they eat their max
Glad to see my beloved Snowfake Fluttertail do so well here.
It's the volatile dweevil. Is that thing will "eat" all of your Pikmin
The orange bulborb is not the same
Its just faster
Even the wheel hates blue pikmin.
Why didn't you do a "wait and see" for the grub chucker, like you did for the jelly float???
They sure gave the enemies some big tongues in this game
It would also be interesting to see how long it took to demolish a whole team because some of the seemingly slow contenders could have much better scores given some more time.
The artic cannon beetle eats half your group each time it suckles in sir so I say that is eating since we know some enemies that use suction to eat
The blue ones taste the best.
Why was the vanilla Dwarf Bulborb faster than its variants?
At the start i started IRL CRYING BC OF THE PIKMIN. IM SERIOUS.
What happened to wing pikmin
This video is basically what enemy is the most deadly(that can eat pikmin) if you might them unprepared.
this is a good video honestly! sure it has some flaws, but it is still good
Glidemander can almost eat all your pikmin if you stand close enough
Yeah, 10 seconds may work better for the video's flow, but it really skews the results because some enemies can have 2, others can have 3 bites done, which makes a huge difference.
It looks like the Joustmites eat like spiders, the pokey bit injects venom that liquifies the inside of the pikmin and they slurp it all up
Wait would the type of pikmin interfere with your data or no?
Now that's gore, that's gore of my comfort character
I kinda miss how bs deadly the enemies were in the first two games
You should have done a few more tries on many of these. Some of these creatures were done so bad.
I don’t disagree, but it doesn’t show in the video that it took a lot of effort to even get the footage I did. The Pikmin were constantly swaying and it was tricky getting close enough to the enemy to trigger them and then avoiding them attacking me, etc.
The point of this video seems really off. As an experiment, data is skewed in a ton of ways and even incorrectly taken for others.
I feel like timing should only really count for how long it takes for all 100 to be eaten. And otherwise leaving it to how many pikmin in one bite each enemy can get.
Fair points but some enemies eat faster than others so how many Pikmin in one bite wouldn’t really work and seeing how long each enemy takes to eat 100 Pikmin would be too long for a video
@@pressaTD But, for science!
Not even the Wheel likes blues
Actually, you missed a few, including the arctic canon beetle, and the sire hound
As a blue pikmin,I am scared of you.
I'm confused, is this how many can they eat with one bite, or how many can they eat before they're programmed to stop eating?
It’s how many Pikmin an enemy can eat in 10 seconds
Am I evil if I like the crunch of pikmin being chewed?
A gildamander can eat an infinite amont in 1 second because it happened to me!
And it happened to me at the end of this video lol
Why do blue pikmin be getting kill a lot or suffered?
Suggestion for more Accuracy: how about timing how long it takes for all the Pikmin to be eaten?
I know this is just a for fun video, but that would make the difference in Danger-Level more apparent
We measure pikmin deaths in decihertz in this video, neat.
If you were closer to gildemander it would have won bc for some reason it can eat an entire squad at once if positioned right
It did win lol, watch to the end
The skitterleaf(normal one) can eat pikmin, but I don't know what situation that make him eat
Thanks to the pikmin for their sacrefices
You skipped a lot of creatures that can eat pikmin. If you doubt that the animation is "eating", the creature will take damage/die when consuming white pikmin.
-Tusked Blowhog
-Arctic Cannon Beetle
-Sunsquish
-Foolix
-Pearly Clamclamp
-Ancient Sirehound. Literally how did you miss this one, you showed it in the intro?
And the pikkilo pediatric is a simulation
