    Ed, great video. One question about torque. The one time I actually used a torque wrench on my motorcycle oil drain plug I stripped it out long before the wrench clicked. I'm wondering if the 25 lb/ft you mention is appropriate for wet or dry threads?

    • @TrustEdGarage
      @TrustEdGarage  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 25 lb/ft is not universal for all drain plugs, maybe your application required less torque.

      I forget what my manual specified, it's been a while. But I do know the bolt was stripped long before I got anywhere near. My question was whether you torque to spec regardless of whether there's oil on the threads or not?

    • @RealGraffz

      remove the trans pan underneath the car, let it drain by removing only one side of the pan than remove the whole thing, clean the pan, if you want to go the extra mile replace gasket and filter than put the pan back and re fill through the tranns dip stick hole, make sure you measure how much fluid came out so you can put the same amount back, do not over fill it, good luck

    Tgshark1 you have been misinformed and you're now passing that wrong information to viewers. Drain all fills don't damage anything. If anything, drain and fills help as new fluid and is replacing the old one. There is no life time fluid. All fluid breaks down and wears out. Flushing on Automatic Transmissions can become a problem and is not recommended by most repair Shops. Always drain and fill ur Auto Transmission.

    It should be noted that the automatic 370z does not have a service maintenance schedule for transmission fluid. The fluid is supposed to last the "lifetime" of the vehicle. Changing the ATF can hurt the transmission. There is a complex heating process that needs to happen during the flush and fill and only Nissan has the software to do this. It is not recommended changing this out, it will cause more problems down the road.

    • @joepalooka2081
      @joepalooka2081 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Although Nissan and Infiniti have a complex procedure for this... All the dealerships I've ever worked at, simply measured the amount of fluid drained and added the same amount back in. No problems if the measurement is done properly. Potential for big problems if it's not done properly.

    I see absolutely no hint of rust or oxidation anywhere; where do you live - on planet Mars. My 2014 fx50 is a virtual rust machine everywhere on the undercarriage. I realize I reside in the salty northeast, but even my ancient Hondas do not have any where near the rust my infinity has.

      Lol.. Sunny Southern California..
      I'm surprised it being a 2014 would have that much rust.

      Ed's Mods Yes, I was totally disappointed when I recently went under the car and discovered the rampant rust. Everything that could rust was rusted.
      I am a diyer and maintain all of my family vehicles including adult children - largely Hondas. And older hondas at that. 2002 cry accord etc.
