One more thing i'd like to know when the printer pauses, either by clicking pause or by filament runout: does it dis-engage the stepper motors?
Every time i have paused a print on my ender 3, after i think something like 10 minutes, the motors dis-engage, which has allowed it to drop the gantry a little bit, enough to cause a collision when resuming the print, and if the part hasn't popped of due to the cold bed already, the nozzle smashing into it as travel speeds surely would

Great point about the morphing of KS! I've been active with KS campaigns from almost day 1, and have been burned by a couple. Presenting almost complete products gives backers a heckuva lot more confidence that they will actually see a product in the end, so I have no problem with KS as a "pre-order" system. In fact, I kind of prefer it.

As an owner of a Ender 3 Pro, which I bought with the glass bed as an extra option, this kinda feels like an Ender 3 with all the most popular upgrades from the community.. Great review, thanks! I do hope they leave the build plate on during paused prints, that needs to happen.
I actually wish (and I'm sure there will be a hack for it later) there was a way for an audible alarm to sound, as well. Even if they just have a normally-open connection get closed by the runout sensor so I can connect a buzzer or whatever..
I don't care too much about ABS not sticking, I've never printed with it, and between warping and fumes, I'm not really interested.
The flexi was a pretty amazing fail, but I wasn't expecting a bowden to print flexi super great anyway. I actually have only used direct drive on my Anet A6, so I'm not well-versed on the bowden style. (How do you continue a run-out on bowden, anyway? Does new filament just force the other through the tube reliably and contiguously?)
I think the kickstarter price is a good deal and it looks like it's going to be worth it.

The trick to using the Creality glass build surface (on my Ender 3 Pro) for ABS is to coat it with ABS dissolved in acetone. It sticks very will. I turn off the fan and heat the bed to 100C, nozzle temp (+-)220C . I've used it quite a bit. I need an enclosure to print large ABS prints. I get layer separation at about 3/4" tall. I have two separate glass surfaces, one for PLA, cleaned with alcohol and the other for ABS with the coating above.

i hear you on the flexible build plate but i have a (i think) similar bed on my cr10- v2 - i have come from a flashforge printer with a flexible build plate and while i loved that i found the usual problems of prints not sticking... with that i had to use a glue stick and a raft every time to get it to work. granted, as soon as the print was done i could remove the build plate, bend it and get the print off but...the build plate on the cr-10 which i think is the same one as this is fantastic, i use isopropyl to clean the bed and as long as i have levelled it propperly it sticks straight away and my first layer is beautiful. once the print is finished and the bed cools the print literally pops off so i dont need a flexible bed anyway. took me a while to get used to it but i love it now.

I backed it weeks ago good to see reviews coming out. Glad i backed it hopefully they atleast hit the 3000000 million mark would love to have the upgrade. I currently have an Ender 3 Pro and love it but this has all the upgrade i wish i had but i also want a second printer. I was wondering that if you back the kickstater would we be getting the 32 bit board or is that still up in the air? I hope to see more reviews about what this thing can do it seems alot more capable than a stock Ender even with a few add-ons and the fact that the fan seems to be blowing right at the nozzle or a little lower is awesome and the light looks nice too. Wish they would have made it a white light but Im sure i can solder a white led on it instead of blue.

On your flexible filament test was that the only try you have done? We are looking to replace our method of making photopolymer stamps for our pottery. We currently us an Imagepac XL pro and it's a pain in the butt to work with. We were hoping something like this printer would work for making flexible stamps with decent detail and let us make all sorts of other cool stuff.

The flexible filament is filaflex from recreus, a Spanish company. The website was on the spool. They also make some less flexible ones that are easier to print on a bowden setup

There's a lot of boardgame companies, COMPANIES, that use Kickstarter as a "pre-order" system. Not just indie folks. So Kickstarter has evolved, or at least, companies are using it for things like this. Thank you for that look at the machine!!

A pre-order system....maybe...except that with kickstarter you don't have any warranty, you receive a prototype.... and kickstarter is not a store. no refund, no warraty if you are not plenty satisfied.
Anyway, a really good video as always, nice catapult !

Hello. Great review thanks. I am wondering if some of the success in the great print results is due to the filiment you used because other reviewers didn't get the excellent results you did. Can you use the same filiment in an ender 3 and show us the results? I have an ender 3 that I put an SRK mini v1.2 board in and I would like to see if I can get the same results using that filiment. Again thanks.

    2. Not entirely interested in backing in it on kickstarter so I may have to wait.

My main worry is all of these high profile reviewers being sent the best printers, and the build quality varying heavily once production happens. As much as I love my CR-10, it's taken a lot of work to get it to a state where it's reliable, with plenty of aftermarket parts, and the build plate that came with it wasn't even usable due to warping. I'm hopeful that the production units will be as polished as the review units, but I'll have to wait until some of these are in the field before I decide to throw down the money.

they have send me BROKEN hardware that I had to fix. heck my cr6 SE stopping working live on stream (grubs came lose on the drive gear in the feeder) let me tell you it was no fun getting that spring back in.
Most of these established companies can't be bothered to try and "cherry pick" units for people.

why does Creality not add thos bars like on the cr 10 v 3 on all those models that place the filament roll on top? It would make the hole printer more rigid and stable no?

Makes sense if you've already got one. I needed to replace my FDM, and this makes sense vs the Ender 3 (less hassle, better features), and the KS price point is decent.

    • @pixel_arc8550
      @pixel_arc8550 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@AndrewCislak I run an ender 3 pro and with the right profile (Cura) you can get absolutely perfect prints with common materials. The only problem I ever ran into is the fact that you kinda need to replace the extruder feeding part with a metal kit (10-15$, its super easy to install) because the stock one might break. Id say that if you dont want to print fancy materials like PC, the ender 3 pro is a steal of a deal at 200$. If you have the money and know that you will stick with 3d printing, the CR6 might still be worth it. However, if you want the abality to have access to the largest community that has the same printer and the most mods, the ender 3 right now is the best in this regard. Modding support for the CR6 will likely be large too within a short while as the printers arent too different I think.
Over all, if the difference in price seems like its worth it to you (auto leveling is kinda cool to be honest, especially if you are a beginner) for the many quality and quality of life improvements, go for the CR6. If you are not sure you will stick to the hobby or your budget is a bit tighter, better get an ender 3 (with the metal extruder kit would be best, it really is super easy and cheap). The leftover 80$ is enough to pay for 2-3 rolls of filament or any further upgrades you might want down the line.
Final note: Please use Cura, nkt Creality Slicer. I conducted a small test and Creality Slicer is pretty good, but Cura has so so many more options and results in visibly better prints. Also, Cura has the former mod called Creawsome integrated into its Creality profiles. This mod is basically an almost perfect profile in every regard, its absolutely amazing.
Pardon the eventual typo, Im on mobile and english isnt my first language.

I think that if we can't print correctly Flexible, because Flexible has a lot of retraction. it has to have the possibility to change offset reduced the gap between the nozzle and the heating bed on autolevelling. It 's the same for PETG). Is there the possibility to choose gap between nozzle and heating bed for autolevelling?
