I purchased the new Creality CR6-SE 32Bit 3D Printer from Creality. This printer out of the box has a lot of the features I was looking for my next 3D Printer. Is this $400 USD printer worth it? Are there any problems with it? Watch and find out!

Man I felt like I was going crazy with your same thoughts. On Facebook someone would vent and then you got other people telling said person to "suck it up buttercup" And I'm like wait, wait ,wait this person spent hard earned money on a product and this company or any other company should stand by their product to fix or whatever may be the issue. Just seemed to get flak on that post. But thank goodness there are others like your self that get it. lol it's frustrating.

Just happened to me with thr CR-200B
Well at least I now know what the B stands for.
      -motor loose, screw misding
-sounded like drilling through concrete whenever leveling
-print bed warped, or at least too high to even level properly...
How they could miss all these things idk. Creality is a SHITTY company

That switch issue is not a QC issue, it's an engineering issue. Absolute fail specifying mating parts. The boards burning up, engineering design issue. 12V instead of 24V means double the current and the FETs choice and their cooling become more critical. The nozzle dragging, yeesh. I started my 3D printing with Ender-4's and it was an unexpected lesson in mechanical design. Creality has tried to erase its existence. I bought several Ender-3 returns and fixed them (I have a rack full now). People get frustrated with the non-intuitive assembly or didn't have the patience and the huge amount of time to tune it to actually work, toss it all in a box without packing and send it back. At least assembly is getting easier with the newer models. Thanks for the honest review.

I like to say that I appreciate your honest review and thanks. You make some definitely good points about Creality and using us as beta. This CR-6 was my first 3D printer and I got it a couple weeks ago and I haven't had a lot of issues that other people had. The only problem I had with mine that I had a lot of screws, nuts and bolts loose so I had to go through the whole thing and tighten it up. make sure I tighten all the screws and tighten up the connections for all the wiring underneath and the power supply. That is also good to watch all your reviews and other people's reviews to know what's the common issues with these printers so I can check it out and make sure mine's safe. Issues I had was extruder wasn't extruding enough when I printed something off the internet. But that was more of a Cura adjustment and solved the problem. I've been happy with my printer but definitely it's been a big learning curve. I appreciate your honesty and information. Thanks 👍

Great review. Thank you for your honest strait forward review. I'm in the market to buy my first 3d printer. I want something that works not to have issues. I'm looking to print in PLA+ something any high temp materials. What would you recommend for the best printer for a person just getting into 3d printing that won't make him want to toss it out the window. One that just works.

Nice, honest, review. I backed the CR-6 on Kickstarter. I did it even though I had a feeling it wasn't going to go smoothly. When I saw people getting their machines and had things go wrong, I wasn't surprised one bit. My machine arrived about 5 days ago and the first thing I did was check the power switch and motherboard. The power switch was terrible and the terminals were loose so I replaced that with a spare I had and then I checked the motherboard and Creality is still tinning the ends of the power wires that go into the board. That's a big NO for me and I cut and crimped everything. So far over the past 5 days the printer is working very well. Nothing out of the ordinary but I'm still keeping my eye on it. I wouldn't recommend this machine to anyone without Creality correcting the problems.

Thank you very much for your honest and true review.
I have had my printer for a week now and noticed some issues:
    1) the nozzle scratches my glass bed when I interrupt the print at the first layers.
    2) there seemed to be a problem with my drawer, it stuck out too much and I could not assemble the screen. had to chip off a little bit of the drawer for everything to fit.
    3) THERE WAS AN ASSEMBLY ACCIDENT BEFORE IT WAS PACKAGED AND SHIPPED. My build plate was wobbly, and there was a noticeable bump in the movement of the Y-axis, so I started taking things apart. what is found is:
    A) signs of a hit in one corner of the build plate, under the glass.
    B) the guide wheel stand-offs were crooked on one side.
    C) one of the guide wheels was chipped.
    D) there is a dent in the Y-axis rail.
I am in contact with creality in order to try and get some replacement parts, and those parts cannot be freely purchased as the Y-axis rail itself is specifically machined to fit the printer. so far, it does not look like I will be getting anything out of them.
your awesome review, people reporting issues, the fact that I received a faulty unit, and my previous plans all encourage me even more to build my own printer. thank you very much!! you are amazing!.
p.s. I can post pics of my faulty parts.

Wow that's nuts. Good review. That's why I never rush into to buying a printer when they come out... well not from Creality anyway. I seriously wanted the 'Ender 5+' but after seeing all the issues it had decided against it. Although I do seriously love the LED nozzle light you showed on this machine. It's probably the only part I got really excited about lol. And you've inspired me to maybe do a printer review on my newer channel. I've had an Ender 3 V2 still in the box for the past 6 months lol. Well done bud keep it up.

Great honest review ...much appreciated....I bought a CR10 mini when they first came out and printed loads of stuff and did loads of mods to it like the silencing stuff....I then got doing other interests and it sat in a corner sadly unused for 18 months.....So recently I got it out and plugged it in and it is still working great...I have the "urge to print" again :)
So I am looking around for something a bit more up to date...like I say the CR10 Mini has been great...never broken down and prints very nicely...but the separate control box means the whole thing takes up more desk space than I would like.
So I have started looking for something more compact with it all built in one unit....with a touch screen and auto bed leveling....size of build platform isn't important to me and the size of the CR6 is fine.
I am glad I came across this review though as the customer service and quality control are,as you say, diabolical and its put me right off getting one....so I will keep on looking....off to watch your Anet review now...thanks for your honesty.

@@martinkulik9466 It's a much more complete machine. It has a quick disconnect for the hotend, auto bed leveling, much better cable management, etc. Also it just looks better too, which might not matter to you at all, but it just has a more complete finished look.

@@LoLGrimfyre man just put it together and check the heatsink where all the mobos have been burning up, the heatsink is the issue on that part. The USB port just needs a 5v power blocker or simply put a strip of electrical tape on the 5v pin or cut the 5v wire on the USB cable you are using, the filament rumour sensor is a PITA but some people in the Facebook community have made some sweet enclosures for the filament runout sensors and totally fixes the stock one. My machine has had zero problems and just like anything you buy it requires an inspection to make sure everything is good. I do it with all my machines, my $3600 3d printer had more flaws than any machine I have owned and its USA made.

You are 100% correct in your comments. Here in the UK we have an organisation called "Trading Standards Agency" and if they get involved and find an item on sale that is dangerous to the consumer; they have the power to take it of sale in the UK and all the sellers within the UK have to take it off the shelves or off their for sale list. The only thing is they can't legislate for items purchased from eBay coming in from outside the UK. Unfortunately, I bought a refurbished CR-6 here in the UK from a well known reputable dealer, It's not been shipped yet so after watching your video I might just cancel it. Thanks for bringing this to the attention of the public

I bought my CR6 SE as part of the Kickstarter and was super excited to be upgrading from an Ender 3. I fought through several issues such as the false filament run out (glued the right piece down and solved it), auto-leveling that didnt really work, and a host of others. This weekend was the final straw as the screws snapped off the hot end as I was replacing the nozzle. So now I am done and cant recommend, I have finally broken down and orders a Prusa and hope for a much better experience!

Hello Gun Shot Games, I am sorry to hear that you are also having an issue with this machine. Just a few days ago, I was responding to a post here. They called my video "click bait", and it wasn't factual. Seem that we have a lot of customers that would rather apologize on the manufacturers behalf, then standing up with these customers and demand these issues be addressed. People watch these TH-camrs that get these machines for free, early, run a few prints, give it the thumbs up, and get their 300+k views. They never do an update video, and this is what potential customers see. As I mentioned, mine was also a Kickstarter, and it has a lot of issues, besides the board and switch. I am also looking at a Prusa, trying to save here and there for one without the wife knowing. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Good review. My CR6-SE has so far the best quality print among my printers but you are right, after more or less 9 months of use, the motherboard started to show issues. It did not burn like others but some sensors started to fail. I am planning to bring the machine to 3D printer hospital (my local dealer) they said they can check the machine and recommend any parts that may need to be replaced.

Accurate review. Good job. I also have a CR-6 and it was great for the first few weeks. Over the past two weeks it’s become a thorn in my side. Blown switch...now worked around by bypassing. Filament run out broken...modded to work, but it’s working...modded. Bed adhesion has gone to crap, I’m having to resort on the old school glue stick, even after cleaning the plate and using all the other tricks. The worst part has been the lack of support. Facebook inquires result in please email someone else. Emails go unanswered to date. I would have to agree, I have a CR-10, an Ender 3, an Ender 5...the CR-6SE...not a fan at all.

I wanted to thank you for this video. I know perhaps they have looked into these issues, but what you said about the community being the "customer support" is definitely a no go for me. I am currently looking at an Anycubic Kobra. We had an Anycubic Mega pro, which I sent back today because the box it arrived in was heavily damaged. We didn't know the Kobra was the newest version. We did take a chance and tried to print some things, but when we turned it on, it made an awful noise. It's possible the fan was broken or something.
Anyway, I've had a few friends recommend the Creality Enders, so I wanted to be sure about our next purchase. Your review was very honest and I thank you for that.

New sub from me, please dont become a shill for these companies, you will earn a greater following being an honest buyer like the rest of us and people will trust your reviews. You hit the nail on the head, the customers are being used as beta testers and tech support. This will be my last Creality product, i cannot abide money over quality with these components, mine is printing fine right now but my fear of this changing soon is making this printer only working while i can be around it. It is a great shame because if the QC was on point this would have ruled the market.

My budged is around 250-370 and this was the printer i had settled on but not so much anymore so my other choices would be the Ender 3 v2 the Cr 10 and the Artilirey sidewinder x1 ?? Mostly what i want in a printer is reliability kinda and atleast a bed printing space of 22x22x25high and im only starting out so i dont mind a printer the doesnt have automatic bed levelling as i want to learn along the way. Thanks for this review.

I bought one on the kickstarter too. I've been monitoring the situation and creality's announcements and I too am rather disappointed in their approach to customer satisfaction. to try to skirt the switch issue, I leave the switch in the powered on position and switch it externally because I don't feel that it's safe to use the switch normally. I haven't seen any smoke yet, but I don't leave it powered on unless i'm in the room with it which makes it only good for prints that last under 10 hours because i'm not going to babysit it and I want to be able to print things that print for a couple of days at a time. I haven't plugged in any usb devices to it, but I had planned on adding a raspberry pi for use with octopi like I do on my ender 3 and tevo tornado but now after seeing the usb problems i'm really reluctant to plug anything into it... I'm honestly not sure what to do about it... is returning it for a refund a possibility? How are you handling the situation? I just don't know how to approach this moving forward.

Hello Josh, Thanks for watching! I really do not know how I am going to handle this situation yet, might do a return. I to have tried to limit size\time of my prints also. Think this video just needs to go viral, to let #Creality know that this issue just cannot be swept under the rug. There needs to be real solutions to these issues, and the need to fix these mistakes. I still haven't received my add-ons and I was backer #91. Thanks again!

I bought this printer off Kickstarter and it’s been amazing for me. Worked perfectly right off the bat and kept going strong for at least a month or so.
Only reason I began having issues is cause I am a newb to 3D printing and I’ve had to learn as I go in troubleshooting issues.
Prior to this I borrowed my buddies ender 3 for a bit. In comparison the CR6-SE has been awesome.
Sure there are going to be manufacturing issues for some and I’m sure there are many like me, but less technically savvy, trying to use this thing.
I’ve been very happy with this printer so far.
That being said this was a good review of the potential issues and I found it informative.

I’m on the fence with this printer. I’ve had it for a few days now and certainly the core build material is excellent (frame, hotend assembly, bed, dual z-rods, motors) but I agree the extruder assembly, runout sensor, and firmware feel very beta. The electrical issue is scary. I wouldn’t recommend this printer either. Nonetheless I own it so my plan is to switch out the motherboard (for BigTreeTech version just released, extruded (for dual gear extruder), and the on/off switch. Not sure about the filament sensor but may just end up ditching that all together.

I learned a lot from my two Creality Ender 3's. I learned that I would rather spend more money to have no headaches than to fiddle and tinker with the problems these machines have. If you have the time to tinker and troubleshoot and upgrade, GREAT for you! For me, I want to hit the "GO" button, walk away from it and come back and see the finished, perfect product. Best thing I did was sell those printers, will never buy a Creality product again...way too many headaches. Thanks for the honest review of this machine, I was curious.

Thanks so much for putting this out there! I'm one of the people who have had really serious issues with mine, and Facebook has been very much less than receptive.
I purchased mine on eBay, as a sealed new-in-box unit. 2 1/2 weeks into ownership, I had the power switch toggle fail...it started spitting sparks out of the switch immediately upon turning it on! It took threatening Creality with a report to the Federal Trade Commission for them to even get back to me, and they said that "they don't make the product" (yes, that's a direct quote from the email) and that I need to "contact the original seller for warranty assistance".
Now, it's obviously not the eBay seller's fault since the box was never even opened, and since Creality "doesn't build" the CR-6, WHO DOES?
During those 2 1/2 weeks, it worked vert well, except for the couple days preceding the sparking. I agree with you that the auto leveling function is abysmal - filament would stick in certain spots but not others, yet when I ran the routine again the spots would be in totally different areas!
Related to that is the hotend itself. It began not extruding at all once a print was started, yet when I would perform the add filament routine, it would extrude just fine. I thoroughly cleaned the hotend too, so there is no way there was a clog anywhere in it!
I guess I'm just going to start replacing parts on it (starting with the switch of course, then the mainboard, hotend, etc.) as I really can't see any benefit to further contact with Creality about it. Again, thanks so much!

There are people like "Ynot Not" that posted yesterday and says, "I find you highly inflated it's troubles". Then has a laundry list on how "we" can fix the printer. Yet I inflated the troubles? Guess these people like buying substandard merchandise. My CR6-SE has been shelved since the video, and I am in the same boat as you. Hope to have an updated video soon. Thanks again for watching!

Creality doesn't make all the parts for their machine. The power switch is an out sourced part. The same with some of the motherboards, some can be theirs and others Bigtree. The belts are Gates.. etc. So they are right in a way. Also a big problem with dealing with Creality is that there is a huge language barrier. Lucky I bought my machine from a Chinese gentleman and we becamse great friends so getting parts is a breeze for me.

Kudos for calling a spade a spade Tripod.
For such a big company their QC is a joke. How they could release a printer with two dangerous faults is close to criminal considering how quickly they determined the cause of the faults. A poor quality knock off power switch has the printer failing at the first hurdle and all downhill from there.
Their farcical statement release should have immediately been followed with a statement that they would be express shipping all the Kickstarter backers a revised motherboard and replacement switch at their cost along with a redesigned filament run-out sensor that actually works to follow. It would go some way to win back support. That would only leave sorting out the bugs in the current firmware, which are pretty bad, with the print head trying to drill back home to China when attempting to level the bed, the inability to pause a print, and the nonsensical "resume print" function that they praised as one of the features of this printer.
At the moment I definitely regret backing this printer, but fortunately I am in Australia and had add-ons as part of my Kickstarter. By the time I receive my printer, it may have a revised motherboard and upgraded switch, and you never know I may yet see it before Christmas.

But what you say is very true, you don't now, what you get. Kickstarter Printers are different, have different Mainboards etc. I would still prefer the CR6-SE over the Ender 3 v2 if you can get it very cheap. I got my for 330$ (270€) and the Ender 3 v2 would coast 245$ (200€), so i decided to pay a little bit more to get better features. The Ender 3 v2 still has the benefit of beeing the mainstream printer so the community support should be better. Last words, security is not a feature it's a must have! If i got somethink like this, I would send it back to the Seller.

Grinding usually indicated a bad cable connection. Check your connection near the Z axis motor and make sure it's all the way in. These are known to come loose and cause this very issue. If you find that worked you can stop the issue by going to thinyiverse and print out a hold down clip.

I'll wait to see when the main board becomes available, but in the meantime I'm going to pester their customer service and go get a new switch before that fails.

ShadowofMachines- Thanks for watching. So sorry to hear that your machine burned up! People like @yauu2 in the comments thinks "No one, no one, should ever blame someone else because he had "heard by others" or "seen by others". Yet there seems to some real concerns about this machine. The machine really looked like a solid win by Creality, that fell short to their QC process. Please keep me updated on when you receive your replacement board. I would like to know if there is a revision.
Thanks again for watching - Tripod

@@TripodsGarage I just got my new board today! I installed it and the machine booted up. But now I have a new problem of the bed heating up without setting it to, and it keeps heating up until I shut it down. I'm not letting get too hot before I shut it down, but the first time it got to 63° before I noticed and shut it down. I've emailed Creality again and I'll see what they say.

@@ShadowOfMachines Easy fix for you. Your power supply wires are in reverse. One is just black and one is black with a stripe on it. Switch the two and you won't have that thermal runaway with the heated bed.

@@ynotnot1666 Awesome! Thank you! I was wondering if it might be something like that. I'll try that today.

Luckily they fixed the most critical issues. My one that i get a week ago works so far perfect. But even for me all this comments on the Internet have made me feel insecure enough to not use the USB port right now and maybe never, if i don't find a solution to find out if my MB is ok and i can use it.
And that alone shows enough how right you are. It is a shame that the Quality check is so bad on such a great 3D printer. It is my first one and i like how good the prints are and how easy it is to used. But that quality issue makes me insecure enough to let it not alone when its powered on. That should not happen with any electronic device at all and i have many devices where i'm never was that insecure before.
Would i recommend it? Not for a beginner because of that even it is a good one for beginners and when than only with a very big warning to be sure to have a actual version of the printer. I even removed the power switch part to look if it is the new one before i plugged in the power cable into it the first time. XD
I must say i read all about that after i bought it. I don't know if i would bought it if i know this all before. But luckily I'm a user that reads hours about a product until it arrives and I'm very carefully and let myself much time until i use it the first time. After i used it now some hours i fill more secure now, but far not secure enough to let it alone.

Sigh. There is no way I can justify purchase of a product with such problems. As much as I’d like to save money (vs something like a Prusa), I’ve concluded it’s just not wise to buy a product like this. Thank you for the information.

Glad I watched this as I was considering these printers but after seeing this that's a big nope from me. I need to know it's safe and this doesn't look remotely safe to leave unattended.

To your knowledge, has Creality fixed these issues?
Did you get a full refund?

Creality has addressed these issues, but not publicly. Seems if you bought a machine well after the Kickstarter, they come with a newer board and more importantly isolators for under the bed clamps that causes the 24v to ground issue. I did two lives streams covering this just recently.

Over the last couple of years Creality have been riding the wave of pupularity they achieved with their original CR-10 but mostly their Ender, which don`t get me wrong were significant machines when they came out, had a great impact in making 3D printing cheaper and more accessible for the regular guy not willing to part with almost a grand on a machine. But since the CR-10 and the Ender-3 were launched several years ago it seems Creality has kept churning out the same mahine with minimal if any mods and upgrades and at prices that don`t reflect the qualities of their machines. They afford to do this and to cut corners with subpar and outdated parts because most people just put up with this. When someone wants to get into 3D printing all you here on the Internet is Ender 3. Yeah, 3 years ago it might have been the best machine for the money but nowdays the market is full with cheaper, better alternatives. Its just that folk tend to stick with what they know so if your first machine was an Ender 3 anything with even half the specs of this Cr6 SE debacle seems almost magical: auto bed leveling, wow, but it relies on the actual nozzle hitting the bed, which is fixed... ha ha; filament run-out sensor, but it doesn`t work and makes the printer stop mid-print... ha ha; silent steppers, but the board is an outdated 8 bit contraption which catches fire... ha ha; glass bed, well they invented something called magnetic PEI steel plate, who uses glass anymore? Even using something as cheap as that power socket to save some dimes and up their profit... Jeees! Guys keep buying Enders and CR`s and make Creality fill their pockets with your money and they`ll keep everything the same ... mediocre.
