G I can tell you it’s the baddest thing out there from an overall perspective. I can daily ride it if I really wanted to because it behaves at lower RPM. It hits corners better than you can imagine, revs to redline extremely fast, brakes harder than anything else I’ve ridden. I also have a Speciale, which is just a kitted up V4 S and the R is a completely different feeling bike.

The bottom line? On road price: S1000RR Mpack = AUD$32k, V4R = AUD$63k. For the road the V4S is a better comparison to the BMW but even it is AUD$40k. And the BMW includes heated grips, tyre monitors, cruise control, gps functionality, bluetooth link to your comms and phone...I really like the Duc but there's a battle going on in my head.

For $63k Ducati is taking the piss...BMW carbon wheels and and everything it has standard is a bargain.
Sure the Ducati will pull away quicker on an amateur track day, but at the end of the day you're still an amateur, while the guy on the BMW gets to ride home in comfort.

The Aprilia RF is even cheaper then the new BMW but that bike sets the best lap every time. Also Ducati but i agree those are WAY to expensive..In a BMW you sit much lower inside the bike.. on a Aprilia or ducati you sit on top of the bike this means ducati and Aprilia ate much more flickable, much quicker on the street.. Yess i ride hard on the street.. So for each and their own..

I switched over to Ducati in 2003 with the 999 and was absolutely amazed at the difference in both handling and that low-end drive out of corners. I was riding in Okinawa with a 02 R1, a Gixxer 1000 and a Japanese local had the new 03 ZX-10 and not one of those bikes could match the Ducks drive out of the corners…..and for 4 riders who were matched pretty evenly skill wise, the Duck was hard to run down. In letting my buddies ride the Duck, they were amazed at the slim-ness, due to it being a v-twin, but also amazed at its nimbleness. When it’s related some of these bikes handle “like they are on rails”….I’ve never had a more stable, confidence inspiring cornering machine. Coming from 1990 Gixxers where I was used to controlling my tire slide, the Duck you could look, dive, corner, drive. Only bike I’ve had come close is a worked RC51.
In all, thanks guys for the chill review and great video. 👍 Can’t wait to see more from you all! Go out and get everything you can! 😁🤙
Ride safe and keep her sunny side up! 🙏

This was one of the most chill and honest review at the same time. Ducati people are the best but in terms of laptimes bmw is not far behind, but the pricing really changes the game here. Also i think a V4R should go with the HP4 head to head because ducati has given all they have on the V4R, but BMW also has a lot reserved to fight with. Nice review loved it.

I’d think the superleggera would be a better comparison, the V4r is the best Ducati can do “under $40,000” (to compete in word superbike)
The superleggera is the best they can do under any budget
But to be fair, the H2r just isn’t meant for the same type of riding. It’s a drag bike, where the superleggera and V4r are track racing bikes. Depending on what metric you test one or the other could win

all superbike are pretty shitty on the road to be honest that why i own a ducati speciale for the track and a monster 821 for the road in fact pretty much any class of bike is a better bike for the road ive ridden many super bikes and own many of them there all shit after a long ride your back ache your wirst hurts the bmw slightly higher bars and heated grip will not change the fact that its still a race position ride with the edge slightly sanded down all super bike share the high seat low clip on position a few mm here and there wont change the comfort issue that plague this class of bike the 821 monster is not the most comfortable or practical bike you can buy but its leap and bound better on the road then any super bike can ever hope to become and in my opinion naked bike are more fun on urban street superbike are way to fast you cant really open them up on the road or take advantage of there superior lean angles so all your stuck with is a bike that way to fast to actually red line way to uncomfortable for anything more then a 2-3 hr ride and way more expensive to maintain and fix in case of a crash then your typical mid-super mid naked bike like the mt09 z900 street triple monster 821 and cb650r super bike are meant to be fun and exciting it need to light your heart on fire and that why i love the ducati every time i take here out i smile from grin to grin she was never meant to be good at everything she was only meant to be the best at one thing and that one thing is enough for me

i think it is great you got two machines together that people want to see go head-to-head in a comparison. You brought up some key points that are factual and make a difference. But the test was biased towards the Ducati from the start. I know its a great machine because I own one. I can attest to most of what you said. That said, I didn't like the fact one was on "STREET" tires and the other one was on "SLICKS." Not a real comparison. But them both on the same tire, piped and tuned...then let us know what you really think...more importantly the guy sitting next to you.

These two riders are not even leaning low while cornering because cornering low will give the tyres to touch the smaller diameter compared to the mid section of the tyre while riding straight. That smaller section makes a 13000 rpm engine to run at 15000 rpm at the tachometer and produces more horsepower and torque to move ahed, you can talk to any pro rider like I met and they will show you some interesting GoPro footages about what I spoke now. These bikes will show their full potential when they are driven in a proper MotoGP track.
I'm writing this because they unnecessarily overlooked BMW while comparing it to Ducati.
BMW S1000RR was the first bike to put all the electronic advancements in a bike and made it standard in their lineup. I vote for the inventor than the one who experimented and implemented that idea in an other way than the inventor.
If I say something good, they call me a BMW fanboy but I don't care.
Before the S1000RR all the bikes were just inline four litre class bikes but BMW revolutionized the modern superbike class.
He is saying that he will buy a Ducati if he had the budget of an S1000RR but BMW wants to offer the riding experience to everyone that's you are riding a racing machine without racing equipment on it and if you want the true machine BMW is ready to cook and serve you every part of the S1000RR with carbon fiber except the tank, swing arm and the engine.
In the past the Ducati Superleggera was one of the most expensive and leading bikes in the world but BMW S1000RR HP4 SUPER STOCK RACE EDITION was around 80000 dollars way cheaper than Ducati with all the technical advancements that you'll never find anywhere, especially in the Ducati Superleggera.
If S1000RR was not there, all the remaining superbikes, we're nothing but metal blocks with four pistons running at high speeds and killing the riders.
    1) Active Suspension.
    2) Cornering ABS.
    3) Full racing carbon fiber wheels and carbon fiber kit.
    4) Fastest running bike when introduced.
    5) Very hard to spoil even in daily use when compared to the rest of brands.
    6) It's the only asymmetrically designed with a purpose. (Check for BMW S1000RR ASYMMETRICAL DESIGN EXPLAINED)
All the above mentioned four were invented and introduced by the BMWS1000RR and the rest of the world, followed it and mostly the, riders were safe.

I was waiting for someone to make this video. The Ducati V4R would definitely be the bike I would chose. It may be a little more difficult to ride, but that just adds to the experience in my opinion. Also looking at the way the V4R dominates in WSBK pretty much says it all. 230+ horsepower with the full race exhaust is totally insane; not to mention the look is definitely more aggressive than that of the BMW. Maybe a HP4 Race would have a better chance against the V4R.

@@zsr2009 Doesn’t matter, it’s too expensive to compete. MSRP has to be under $40,000 to compete in word superbike. If you include the $78k HP4 race, you’d have to include the superleggera, which would dominate the HP4 race.

it's a trick I also use on track days, by looking at the position of the zip tie after going out for a few hot laps , it helps u gauge how much front compression to dial in ; if the zip tie has been pushed down to more than 5 +/- mm (depends on rider preference) from the very bottom of the front fork maximum travel, this tells you that u need to dial in a few clicks of compression on the front forks, too much dive under heavy braking can cause the bike to bottom out the front forks which creates instability under braking and can cause the bike to pogo if you any bumps or undulation's so to prevent this u need a bit of a buffer zone so this doesn't happen and using a zip tie to see how far the forks compressed in the hard braking zones gives a rider how much compression to add. Likewise if the zip tie is to high up after a test ride your compression is either to high or you need a lil more front preload. hope that helps, maybe I got carried away and just typing in that the zip tie is there so u know if the forks are bottoming out or not would have been all u needed to know and typing all that stuff was a waste of time and I coulda been asleep 2 hrs ago.

I appreciate the effort that goes in to this. But those v4r’s do not put down 230 odd bhp at the back wheel. No chance.
They’re around the same as the stock 1100 v4. Which is less than the bmw on a reliable dyno. Both epic machines and very much pole opposites.

    • @cwjsmit64
      @cwjsmit64 4 ปีที่แล้ว

As Vicati said, Ferarri 488 to a BMW M4. The V4 wins in displacement, tech, and track setup. The BMW isn't even the HP4 (Not that the power jump is much between the Base S1KRR and the HP4) The BMW is half the price, and gives up a king can of displacement. Having owned Ducatis, and frequently riding on my S1KRR with a guy on a V4, the V4 is definitely the higher performance bike. But where I live, once you go over 1000cc, the insurance becomes prohibitive, not to mention that the V4 is WAYYY more money. Without some very, very serious modifications, the Bimmer is not going to touch the V4R. But I wouldn't care. I love them both. The BMW feels like a better bike on the road, and unless an H2 or a V4 rolls up, there's nothing short of a hypercar that's going to touch it. The BMW is still the best bang for your buck, in my opinion, but if the V4 was affordable for me without having to dig a big pit in my savings, I'd probably have it. Both are phenomenal. I don't know anyone owning either who regrets the decison.
