Up front, I am independent shop owner and have been a motorcycle tech for 30+ years. I bought a 2020 S1000RR with the M package. Mostly because I ride street and track. After riding both the Ducati V4 and the BMW, I liked the very user friendly power of the BMW for street rides. I will admit, the Ducati is nimble regardless of rpm and you can feel the difference at speed (aka my reason for going all out and getting the M package with carbon wheels). The other reason for going with the BMW is cost, I have all the the equipment and tools to maintain the BMW and that is not the case with Ducati (Ducati love their special tools). To be honest, both these bikes are far better then I am a rider but let’s be honest, if you can’t keep the front wheel down with 200hp, who cares if you 30hp of unused hp? Both are amazing motorcycles with scalpel sharp handling and more powerful then the law of physics will let you use, out of the box are far better then most of us are riders, what are you drawn to is the deciding factors.

This choice is easy. Do the math. All that effort to copy technology and they can't even mirror half the downforce with bigger wings and they want 30k+. The Ducati is a better bike by far.
The dealer said with all the options it would be 38k for the BMW. Man no way is that bike equal to the V4R that's 40k. I have the V4R and the S1000RR. Both loaded with after market parts.
That V4R is missing a couple of parts from Superleggra but I'll take my V4R with my wheels. My weight difference is now less than 10 pounds from the Superleggra.

Very well done! I owned a 2018 V4S and now own a 2019 V4S. I really like the look of the new BMW M1000 and all the carbon makes it a great value. That being said, I think I’d still take my V4S over either of those. Mine is very heavily modified. Full system, DTC Evo2, Carbon wheels, 520 chain conversion. If you ever find yourself in Oregon, look me up! You can take mine for a spin and I will take you down to Motocorsa to check out their offerings.

Never understood when some say, "you can't take this bike to its limits..."
One simple limit: go through the gears, stay on 6th and peg the throttle to see how fast it can go, hit the rev. limiter, and you have taken the bike to one of its limits; straight line speed. Did it with all my bikes (GSXR1000s and S1000RRs).
Obviously, the initial statement refers to one being able to take the bike around a given track and take advantage of all bike's characteristics and prowess without going over the edge and crashing.

Recently ride with friend who has the previouse model S1000RR with upside down gears it is crazy bike. I was on my Hayabusa ,on first and second gear I pull him , but by the third I do not see him no more, is passing me like a blade. Despite my 350 pound against his 210 the Busa is ok. I am not very familiar with the Ducati and in general with the Italians bikes. If I have to choose will take BMW. Right now I am happy with my Busa, not so expensive and very reliable. In the 98 I become to know personally Mr. De Biaggio from Ducati on the exposition in Munich, Germany. At that time use to have Kawasaki Ninja 750 GPZr. He invited me to take my gear to visit Borgo Panigale and to ride the Ducati products at that time. I never find a Time to do that visit and now I am very, very unhappy. The video is made with a knowledge to the details and my opinion is very impressive. From the time I spend in Germany (10 Years) , I can tell you , Italian cars, bikes , trucks have beutifull forms, esteticaly are satisfaction for the eye, but technically bad , example what they say about the FIAT products ( " F " ehler " I " n "A " lle " T " eile ) that means, Mistakes in every Part). The German Products, Kwadratisch, Praktisch , Gut ( Quadratical, Practical and Good ( reliable)!

Finaly a beemer that looks good, but i'd choose the Ducati because of their passion for sportsbikes, styling details ànd heritage with many titles in WSBK and motoGP...
But in the end both too expensive for me I'm afraid...

As a pure styling exercise and visual experience its hard to beat the Italian style in the Ducati. I imagine very few would be taken on track by private individuals. Both bikes are amazing and the technology in both looks incredible. Is this a similar exercise by manufacturers for 'Top Trumps' as the recent crop of big cruisers? ( R18 and Rocket 3) In reality the sales number is going to be very small? Great to see them pushing the limits of whats possible on a bike now and they seem to be catching up with car design and technology.

I bought a v4s because I’m too lazy to make suspension adjustments, but I also only ride on the street. My only complaint is that the frame can burn you through Kevlar pants.

i swapped a v4r in for an m1000rr , both incredible bikes , for everyday road use the M shades it with the superb engine response under 7000 rpm . Fitting akra race headers is a must on the M , it sounds tinny and too quiet with the cats still on , and i hate the over revving on start up .

Boy. Tough decision. I’ve owned quite a few Ducati’s and regret selling my 916 many years ago. Recently I tend to gravitate to bmw more. Just bought a k1600 gt se. Bmw dealer support over here is immense In Ireland and while Ducati are seen as the best looking bikes on the planet I do like BMW’s styling as well. That said my s1000rr while a great bike looked a bit tacky with all the cheap plastics until I ripped them all off and replaced them with carbon. At quite a cost. I’d probably opt For the m1000rr due to that engine which is immense for torque across the range. (I’m sure it’s very similar to s1000rr with a higher redline).
Another good video mate with great editing and well thought out dialogue. I like your neutral approach to these. Always very even handed.
