- Alicia Thompson is an international thespian and writer who hails from the "land of wood and water" known as Jamaica. She is the founder of (AIM) Artistry is Ministry, which provides edification through theatre. Alicia uses artistry to uplift and inspire youth, especially girls and young women to help deal with issues such as self-image and self-worth. In a society where the standard of beauty is superficial and modesty is not often celebrated, she is determined to use AIM as an initiative to help change the negative impact. She a board member of Advocates for Community Awareness, an alumni of the Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI), Parents Supporting Excellence in Education (SEE), and a past recipient of the Bridgeport Parent Leadership Award.

Self hate is a learned practice, I found self esteem is also a learned practice. And like anything can be learnt so can self esteem, it's another learned skill.
Nobody will build your self-Esteem only you others we critice everything you have done . Life is a platform of your awareness

For me self esteem is the faith one has to thuself and and acceptance.

She got me on Maslows need... i too believe that self esteem should be ater the physical and safety needs but Self Esteem and Self Actualization are the last low needs... but hey Maslow is the author for that excerpt. This was a lil different but nice :)

glad to know im not the only one who thinks society alienates rather than assimilates and having a support system is like winning the lottery.
The antidote to low self esteem is to raise people with high self esteem... If you haven't lived with the problem you're speaking on, maybe you shouldn't speak on it.
Teachers/Lecturer needs to know how to contribute to a child's success at least 1 child.
