Wow!! Thank you!! I am completely SHOCKED at the sound and riffs coming out of my mouth right now. I've searched videos and followed along many many times, but this is the first time I have ever been able to hear myself do a riff. I really appreciate you taking the time to run through these slowly and repeatedly. Amazing!!

I took choir in school for 5 years. I never learned this! I like to sing jazz but I've never thought I needed riffs and runs, boy was I wrong! I love this! Thank you for helping me understand. Your awesome ! 😊👏

So happy to help! We don't think of scatting and jazz stylization as riffs/runs, but there's definitely a shared skill set there!

You are one of the best teachers of riffs and runs , if not the best. You should have hundred thousend views, according to how well you explain and show all the examples. Very practical and clear, so thank you. I will teach it the same way to my pupils, if you don´t mind....

Looking for good exercises for a beginning singer like myself, 45 minutes of clicking around, and stumble on this gem. WOW. This is so helpful, helpful in ways I never expected, knew I needed, or even existed. So amazingly clearly explained, and ... yeah, I could go on and on, babbling, but it comes down to great job and thanks!

You are a terrific educator. I appreciate that you showed the riffs/runs in several ways; by the numbers and the letter names, then did several repetitions both in slow and then sped up. Thank you very much! You have such a lovely voice - rich in the lower chest tones & clear & pretty in the higher tones. 😃👍🏼💛

Really well explained. A video of the riffs repeated slowly for longer and then slowly speeding up would be amazing and really helpful. A video with more slower riffs could be used as a practice. This video was brilliant and i will look at your next one. Alos subscribed which i never do. So well done. Also your voice is great and very controlled and effortless.

I had a lot of success with a singing teacher years ago that had a tape of R&B licks to practice. (yes it was a while ago and it was on a cassette tape (very retro now). I love practicing these licks. Very cool. I have not been able to get in contact with him and have been looking for a great pentatonic practice tape for a while now. Do you have anything like this available with a variety of licks in a call and response format.

Beautiful. On your Whitney riff, you have a lovely flip that happens on the first “3”… which adds character. Also, you jussst graze past the “2” and “4” on your way from “1” to “3” and “3” to “5” (the first 3 notes of the Whitney riff). It’s really subtle. This makes it sound like you’re hitting more notes, which is a nice lil trick you have there, and nice to hear it broken down slowly. ;)
