I don't know. I also like the "new kid" from the game. He has no name and never speak so technically he is just us playing the game. We are the 5th Ghostbuster.
I actually visited the set of GB2 in January 1989 and saw Peter's apartment which was built on stilts off the floor because of the scene when a supernatural force attacks from the outside. These scenes are a lot better than the ones they kept in the movie.
You mean a dubiously-employed Ghostbuster couldn't really afford to live in the Flatiron Building in Times Square? I always figured Dana's Central Park West apartment was pretty much the norm when you moved to a big city.
I know the scene is not very believable, but I appreciate how Egon thinks Peter might be excited as he is to go sewer diving for slime and see an increase in the cockroach population. 😂
If Dana had stayed on to explain to the court why she had asked of Ray and Egon to look into what had caused the baby stroller to take off by itself, she probably would've been sentenced to be committed to the psychiatric hospital (where Jack Hardemeyer later had the Ghostbusters committed) for delusional behavior and child endangerment, and Oscar would've been put in an orphanage for adoption.
I agree, I think the Ghostbusters didn't want to implicate Dana in their case which was violating their judicial restraining order that forbid them from performing any paranormal services (which also caused the blackout). Especially since it was Dana who asked them to investigate what was going on with Oscar.
Are you mentioning the one where he went through the red light and Venkman looks back at him in the ecto 1? Yea, that never got done, there are storyboards depicting what happened but all the other bits like the red light part were put into the montage with the song by Run DMC. It was supposed to be followed by the 2nd scene where the ghostbusters got back the ecto 1 after it was damaged in the crash by Louis' cousin (who was played by that guy from American Pie lol) and that also was supposed to be linked into the sewer scene.
@@GenGamesUniverse They shot the scene but i think it never went into editing. Only the driving fast part in the montage was kept because the whole possessed scene didn't fit the overall tone of the film... There are some behind the scenes shots were you can see the scene was filmed. It happens right outside the museum when getting back into Ecto-1A. There are also publicity stills of Winston grabbing the steering wheel. In the script Winston stomps on the brakes as the car skids into a tree. Some of the scenes ended up in the Coca Cola commercial.. Also, Sherman Tully played by Eugene Levy never drove the Ecto-1A or crashed.. He only appeared in a deleted scene getting the guys out after they were committed to the psychiatric hospital.

Murray did get "kod" in the reboot so he became happy to suit up for the thirdfilm! i.e. HES ALWAYS LOVE THE GHOSTBUSTERS FILMS! HE LIKES TO FRIZZLE FANS!!!!!!!!!! @@SB992REBORN Murray was the reason a third movie hadn’t happened until 2021. Aykroyd and Remus has tired so many times but Murray really wasn’t interested, which is fine, some actors don’t want to return to roles it happens. Now Toss in a script a room of monkeys with type writers would reject and lose and behold the reboot no one ever asked for or wanted.
Bill Murray actually was the one who asked if some of these scenes with him and Sigourney to be removed. The reason being, is that it took away from the Ghostbusters team dynamic. I actually applaud him for that instead of making it about him as the leading man. However, from a character standpoint, I think these deleted scenes fit Venkman‘s character well from the first film. They seem more in line with Ghostbusters 1984 Venkman. Even the courtroom scene when he stands on his toes and says it is her fault they’re on trial. Though I think what he did was noble for the cast, Murray‘s Venkman is what made the original so successful. The crew even said he should have received a writing credit do to his successful ad libbing. These scenes with him should have been left in. I think because of the success of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon (which carded the franchise in the years following the first film), they wanted to make it more in line with the series to make it more connected. The funny thing is, the first couple of seasons of the Real Ghostbusters was really dark for a Saturday morning cartoon. They made it more kid friendly towards the end (around the time Ghostbusters II was to be released).
I think with it being a five year gap, Venkman finally grew up and grew some balls after Ghostbusters went out of business. But what's funny is, is that in Ghostbusters The Video Game, he's reverted back to his creepish ways from GB1 and acts like a jerk to the rookie. I also liked the "Wasn't he also Vigo the Butch?" to Egon.
XTheVideoGamerGirlX oh yeah, in the video game there’s a scene where Peter is captured and Winston is like do we have to save him? In the animated series, Winston says, “Just ignore him, that’s what we do.”.
they CLEARLY where trying to set her up as a relative too shandor in gb the game. but, for whatever reason, she didn't want to do it. it made ZERO sense with a new character.
Thanks for sharing these! Much of this really should have been left in. Just watching GB2, it's evident that the film suffered cuts. There's still other deleted/alternate scenes, including Venkman's line about the Titanic, that was later shot with Cheech Marin instead.
That "Tenth level of hell" line was so good, it survived the deleted scenes, but they have the Mayor said it instead. Also better ending for that douchbag! Always hated him! 👎😒
I like the extra scenes but they were mostly just alterations of scenes already in the movie beside the first with Dana asking why it always happens to her, the court room scene with dana and peter and the scene of louise trying to catch slimer...the rest were mostly alternate to whats already in the movie
6:06 should had been kept in. It's Jack Hardenmeyer's comeuppance for antagonizing the Ghostbusters and having them committed to a psychiatric hospital.
I have to disagree though. On one hand the inclusion of it would make the film even darker when it already has a problem with how dark it is in some scenes in comparison to the first movie. On another hand, it wouldn't make much sense for Jack to still be working with the Mayor immediately after being fired and denying having committed the Ghostbusters.... the same day that he admitted to putting them away... But if none of those are good enough reasons, the fact that it makes an immediate plot hole with the question of how three of the Ghostbusters themselves were also pulled into that very same slime during the subway scene... yet none of them were dissolved or killed from it
Nah. As much of a dick as he was, I think having him actually die would have been a bit harsh. Getting fired was a much more proportionate comeuppance. Plus the fact that he's seen celebrating in the crowd during the end credits always struck me as a bit of redemption for the character, in that it showed that, freed from his (presumably) high pressure job, he might not have been such a bad guy.
He also reappears in the IDW Ghostbusters comics. While he has changed for the better, he is still a bit of a shark. Janine Melnitz, goes after him at one point because he made a decision without asking her if she was for it.
@Captain Brandon Horror Film Lover The 2019 Ghostbusters Blu Ray Steel Book has an audio commentary for Ghostbusters II. Sadly, it is a step down from the first movie's audio commentary since time has not been kind to Ivan Reitman, Dan Aykroyd or producer Joe Medjuck's memories. Had they recorded the commentary in 2009, and gotten Harold Ramis to participate I am sure it would have been better. Harold's comments on the audio commentary for the first movie, were really hilarious especially the bit where Ivan Reitman said he was the one that complained the least about the weight of the Proton Packs!
If you had paid close attention, you would have noticed that Dana was driving the stroller through the slime at the beginning. This marked the child for rebirth. Therefore, the explanation from the deleted scene was unnecessary. Dana was just unlucky.
Would have left in the first scene with Dana wondering why the weird stuff happens to her, and Louis chasing Slimer. May have kept in Venkman and Dana at the courthouse... that one is 50/50. The scene about the cockroach breeding is in the movie with a different setting so take your pick. Glad they left out the stuff at the museum.
Interesting how some of the lines from these deleted scenes still made it in to the movie. Even if under a different context and spoken by a different character. For instance, the line pertaining to 'going down in history as the man who let NY get sucked down in the tenth level of hell."
Wait a sec. It's taken me 30 yrs to realize Louis with the proton pack means there's quite possibly a total of _five_ proton packs. Either one was made as a spare in case another broke down, or it was made for a 5th team member, who wasn't likely to be bumblesome Louis. 🤔 Who then?
good point.. however I always thought the pack that Louis had was either Ray's or Winston's as they were equipped with the slime throwers. However in these scenes it's clear they had all 4 at the museum at the beginning.
@@xstube9621 oh really? I always thought it was in between the two with them going back to the library? It’s been a long time since I’ve played it anyhow!
I still have my original Ghostbusters ecto-1 lights and noises runs on two double A batteries and lighthouse and the ghost trap doesn't need batteries uses a hose stomp on it in the air makes the doors pop open but you can put four Triple A's and it to make the lights noises.
The museum scenes with the mayor and Jack were from the dropped original cut where the Ghostbusters are broken out of the mental hospital by Louis Tully’s cousin, played by Eugene Levy.
"Girlfriend and her baby #3" was just the first two versions clipped together and... it just doesn't work well. Continuity errors in certain shots, Jack Hardemeyer's inconsistency in tone between angry and gleeful at a good photo-op... yeah, it just wouldn't have worked.
Interesting. There was an alternative Take of the gang trying to convince Venkman to join them in the sewers. Neat. It shows why this one here ended up as "deleted Scene" because that version is really inferior.
Maybe Bill Murray wouldn't hate Ghostbusters 2 if he didn't hate shooting it. It's still a good movie and an extension of the first. I like both movies.. ask anyone.
it's not really the shooting of it i think, it was a film he never wanted to do and the only reason he did do it was cause the guys talked him into doing it. what he said about the film was he thinks they spent more time with the Special FX and less on story unlike the first film where it's less on special FX and more on story.
@@rolandofgilead43 Also during filming quite a few scenes got deleted or changed during reshoots. In 2014 during a visit to The Late Show With David Letterman, Bill Murray revealed that his view on Ghostbusters II had changed, he feels now that despite its flaws it is a decent companion piece to the first movie. Dan Aykroyd and Ivan Reitman also share this view.
The first scene triggers me so hard. Had Sigourney been in the video game from 09 instead of Alyssa Milano it would have made perfect sense why she was picked by the supernatural in the preceding movies... Hell they even hint at it in this scene.
Apparently it's rumored that Dana moved after the events of Ghostbusters II due to the fact that she wanted some normality to Oscars life but in the rejected Ghostbusters III film, Oscar was supposed to have joined the team after the untimely demise of Venkman.
It would have made the game even more the Ghostbusters 3 we deserved. I like how the game expended on the mythology that the first movie had. Hell maybe the game is also the Ghostbusters 2 we deserved.
@@chamoo232 I think try the video game wouldn't make sense cause of the slime blower attachment also I liked the 2nd movie even though not everyone liked it
@@PixelLog606 The slime blower from the game is different enough that it could still exist without the second movie. They would just have to remove the lines that say it's the new version with the tank integrated to the proton pack with a self refilling slime culture. But yeah overall the game still improves the second movie because it ties up the 2 movies and game together with the mythology. Having the slime river come from Shandor Island makes the plot of the 2nd movie less random. GB2 is not bad but it has flaws. Seeing the GB at the bottom again after they were on top at the end of 1 is depressing. Seeing Peter and Dana's relationship rebooted is also depressing. Vigo is cool but not nearly as cool as Gozer. Other than that I really have nothing against GB2... well also the tan jumpsuits are better than the grey ones.
I remember reading all about these deleted scenes in the story Dell book that I owned and saying how come they never showed these scenes in the actual film!!???

They obviously shot a bit cuz some footage is used in the pepsi commercial and there's a scene in montage...BUT they probably decided it was too long a sequence so they cut it before wasting money. Lot's of stuff was re-written in this movie so there probably isn't a complete version of the scene. That's probably why we haven't nor will we ever see it. It was in the book and comics but those are based off the screenplay so that means nothing. They shot some of it but I'm sure never finished it.
OR maybe they just never edited the footage into a scene figuring ray just being possessed by Vigo early on was enough to link it to the end... I think rey's innocence is enough to go on that because he conjured up the marshmallow man we can believe he's be the easiest mind to possess lol I'd bet money they shot some of it but there's just no complete version of the scene available...
I’m glad they shot Jacks death at the museum, that scene is in the book and I always wondered why it didn’t make the movie.

Louis Tully will always be the only 5th ghostbuster in my book.
Lol
I thought Rick moranis and Annie Potts had excellent chemistry too
I don't know. I also like the "new kid" from the game. He has no name and never speak so technically he is just us playing the game. We are the 5th Ghostbuster.
Didn't Janine also join them and used a proton pack in the Animated TV series?
@@KRAFTWERK2K6 I think so
The fire chief from the first movie had a cool cameo there. Shame they had to cut him.
“He ain’t comin.” Should have left that in. I laughed so hard. Haha
I love how they simultaneously said “hello peter” at 1:47
If Dana had stayed on to explain to the court why she had asked of Ray and Egon to look into what had caused the baby stroller to take off by itself, she probably would've been sentenced to be committed to the psychiatric hospital (where Jack Hardemeyer later had the Ghostbusters committed) for delusional behavior and child endangerment, and Oscar would've been put in an orphanage for adoption.
My question is where the hell did Winston run off to? He was at court to begin that scene then was gone when the Scolari Brothers attacked
@@ReflectionOfPerfection He must've been helping people try to get to safety at the time.
I agree, I think the Ghostbusters didn't want to implicate Dana in their case which was violating their judicial restraining order that forbid them from performing any paranormal services (which also caused the blackout). Especially since it was Dana who asked them to investigate what was going on with Oscar.
They left out the deleted sceen where Ray was possessed
Never went into editing.. My best guess it's still on the original recording tape stored somewhere..
XTheVideoGamerGirlX yes, if you get the kid’s story book, it shows them leaving the hospital, Eugene Levy who played Louis’ cousin, a skin doctor you see him telling them something as they leave the hospital.
@@GhostbustersArchives I remember seeing the reckless driving scene and many others in theatres in 1989. When I finally got my own copy the following year (recorded from HBO), it was gone, and so were many other scenes. I don't know why this one remains so elusive.

The Peter and Dana scenes should've stayed, really funny and cute. They have chemistry.
It felt less hokey and more nature than the scene they replaced it with.
Bill and sigourney had excellent chemistry
@@SniffHeinkel Only the sewer scene was replaced. The others are just cut. The theatrical sewer scene at the restaurant is better.
@@will_it_work it was rushed
Awesome 👌
Ghostbusters 2 is a misunderstood Masterpiece & my all time favourite movie
"He ain't comin'"
Venkman is really charming in GB2. He's funny, but a bit of creep in the first. Also the 'Draculas third cousin line' should have stayed in!

“She ain’t coming”-Winston

Notice Bill Murray at 1:27 has the same hairline in profile of his cartoon counter part LOL!
Mr. Brell's commupence
"Only one of us did a wee bit better on our SAT's"
Rick Moranis is a treasure.
I remember seeing some of these scenes in the Ghostbusters 2 comic movie adaption.
The first scene should’ve been left in. It feels like the original. And that’s the problem with the sequel.
If you had paid close attention, you would have noticed that Dana was driving the stroller through the slime at the beginning. This marked the child for rebirth. Therefore, the explanation from the deleted scene was unnecessary. Dana was just unlucky.
"You wanna come?" awww Ray is such a kid at heart. I love him to death.
They should release an extended cut of the movie. The two scenes with Dana and Louis trying to catch Slimer would've worked great!
I feel fortunate that I was around to see both of these masterpieces on the silver screen. Watching them at home, just isn't the same.

I guess it can be explained as the new recruit’s pack in the 2009 Ghostbusters Video Game, as that was set in between the two films.

Need to see the Ghostbusters go to Dudley Town in Connecticut
"Girlfriend and her baby #3" was just the first two versions clipped together and... it just doesn't work well. Continuity errors in certain shots, Jack Hardemeyer's inconsistency in tone between angry and gleeful at a good photo-op... yeah, it just wouldn't have worked.
Louis......a proton pack I s NOT a toy, LOL!
