INFO!!!! My raspberry pie was named EMU so it was \\EMU then enter the login pi and password raspberry I have been stuck for hours but thank you for the video! You don't know how many you tube videos I had to watch. For new people just keep watching the tutorials and learn more from each video!!!

Hey great videos. Had a question was trying to use my Chromebook as the hub to send ROMs from and to the retropie. Installed chrome extension to send files over network but can't get the right path. Tried IP as well as usual windows commands. No luck any ideas?

So, I tried loading the roms a few different ways thanks to your very helpful video. The roms show up in retropie, I can see them all, but when trying to select and run I get a box which says its launching, but then it takes me back to the game list. Any ideas?
If it isn't working and you think you have tried everything, make sure you're not connected to a vpn on your pc. It took me hours and multiple formats of the sd card for me to realize that was the problem. As soon as I disabled it, it connected with no issue.
if youre on mac, go to finder, then on the left side where it says "locations", youll see network. click it and then youll see retropie as an option.

Hi do you need to first extract the compressed rom files on your computer or can You just send the zipped files to the Raspberry pi 3?
Also can I do the file transfers over the wifi without doing the usb setup first from the previous video?

when i download some roms the transfer by it self, then i cant open it. any ideas?? i get a error saying it already exit, it restart and its there but there is no game in the game folder. Any help would be great!!

Thanks ETA, was using this method for a while now on my new pi ... but suddenly can't access RETROPIE through the file explorer. I still can use WInSCP, but the explorer fails to access? Any thoughts? I had it mapped and was working fine. Could windows update have messed with that? Just seems odd I suddenly can't browse with the ip or backslash method but still can connect with WinSCP.
where do you get all your roms from? im looking to pack this thing full of nes snes Genesis gb gba ... etc games also can the games be left in the zip folder? and do you have a video on bios?

Having troulbe with ps1 bios. File is in the bios folder and games in correct folder. They do not start. It just brings me back to the retropie ps1 screen
I am having a little trouble. I can xfer say an NES file to my NES library with no issue.However on my image there is a folder named HACKS in the NES roms folder and all the NES hacks I have are in there. I added my hacked games to there and none show up. Any ideas? Thanks and as always, GREAT VID!
I have a quick question. I noticed your NES files are ".NES" how did you get it that way? I'm asking because when I first got the Pie I added NES games with ".zip" and it worked fine. but now when I add more games they won't open. I click on the game, the screen goes black, then I'm back to the main menu. Same with SNES and Genesis game please help
can someone help because when I type //RETROPIE or //my pi's ip address it takes me to google with a website saying ERR_CONECTION_REFUSED
Whenever I add a game over netork on my MAC it makes a duplicate file with a dot in the front of the ROM name, this duplicate is not playable its almost like it should be a hidden file but retropie is displaying it?
Hey. I have a problem making the retropie detect new roms. I added a few and so far, only the newer roms are unable to be detected. What other ways is there to do in this case?
Is it possible (and easy to configure) for RetroPie to play ROMs directly from a USB hard drive instead of copying them over? I have a 500 gig drive that I can load all kinds of ROMs only but my SD card is only 8 or 16 gigs which can't hold nearly as much.
I think I might be ahead of myself here..... I've downloaded and installed RetroPie.... I've paired my dualshock 4 controller with it. Now I am trying to transfer roms over the network........ I cant use winscp, because it wont recognize anything, and when I use the directions in this video, no folders or anything pop up when I pair with my IP address. please help, thanks!!

Im doing this with a thumb-drive, and whenever i go and access roms, and go to ports, or any thing, it shows an empty file.
My folder is called "Retropie" and i left it in the usb port for well over 15 mins.

I was able to transfer some roms via network right after I installed retropi but now my pc can not locate the raspberry pi in network. Sometimes in my network setting it pops up as a Linux computer but does nit allow me to open it. Please help if you can steer me in the right direction.
Hello, I've tried to add the game star ocean (ps1) to my ROMs using this method, it has the BIOS and it shows it on my menu screen but when I am trying to load the game it will go black then kick me out back to the menu area. I am very new to this and your videos have helped me tremendously. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks much!
i'm no longer able to do this for some reason. running windows 10 on my laptop. stopped playing my rasberry for awhile. went back to it to put some more games on it and no cigar.

When I try to transfer anything over 100meg it gives up. I'm using WiFi on my laptop. Should I get another Ethernet cable and hook them both to the router?

You jumped into a step you didnt describe right after you put in your password, I dont understand how you got back to Show Ip?
if you are using linux use filezilla and putty ssh client so you don't have use a keyboard on raspberry pi

ive done this before with no issue, but today its giving me problems. i can connect to my retropie and i can view all files. but when i try to add files i get a message saying i dont have permission. i havnt change login or password or anything, relatively fresh install (building for a buddy)
any ideas?
I did everything however my computer still can’t find it on the network. I guess I will have to get a USB stick. I even tried connecting it directly to my pc. You also forgot to mention that you have to add your country which is pretty important if you want wifi but all in all good info

I have looked at so many tutorials for this and just can't get it to work. I have a brand new Raspberry Pi 4 up to date, running Raspbian. I am running Windows 10, and they are both on the same network. When I try and go in to My Computer and input the IP Address that I have gotten from RetroPie, my computer will not recognize it. I clicked "Diagnose Problem" and it says "The remote device or resource won't accept the connection".
I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Can someone help? I have tried this with my firewall on and my firewall off. No dice.
Maybe check if your network (WI-FI) is set to home instead of public. Idk if that will work but just check it. Also maybe some routers put out a different signal that some electronics won’t pick up. For example I was modding a Nintendo Wii a couple of days ago but it wouldn’t connect to my router. All my other electronics would connect except for the Wii. I had to use my phone as a hotspot. Hope something I mentioned helps.
I finally got to the rasberry pies sd card but i can’t click in roms because it says i don’t have acces to it please help!!!

Has the N64 core been updated?
I'm seriously considering getting the Rasp 3 with RetroPie 4.0 to make it my main retro machine, and N64 is the one I'm most interested in.
How well does it run? What about the troublesome games like Conker or RE2?
I'll be doing extensive tested tomorrow on it , I haven't had much time with 4.0 just yet , but I'll be sure to make at least 4 videos tomorrow one of which will definitely be N64 testing.

I can't find the info on wich emulators need bios. And In earlier versions of Retropie The bios had to be copied to the roms folders. Not anymore?

I copied roms over the network and it still wouldn't show the games emulators or the games after a reboot. I could use the USB drive and they would then show up, anyone have any idea why one way works and the other does not?
Hey ETA Prime! I gotta quick question... Why is it that every time I try to type in either my IP address, or //RETROPIE, it opens up a tab in google chrome and shows me an invalid page? How can I get my PC to connect to the RPi? I have them all on the same network and stuff... just need some clarification... Thanks!!!

I don't understand your BIOS required list! Wich one requires a special BIOS?? The one with a "-" on the BIOS section or the one with a BIOS's name on this section? Because the NES has a BIOS name on his BIOS list but tou haven't downloaded it?? I DON'T UNDERSTAND!! HELP PLEASE!!

Tried connecting to my PI via web browser but it wouldnt connect. However using windows explorer and clicking on "Network" there it was. Easy as pie. This was using windows 7. Hope this helps someone.
I can't delete or copy any roms because my access is limited and it requires login and password. I am typing pi/raspberry but no success:( Any ideas?
When I type in //RETROPIE it asks me to type in network credentials but I don't know what that means.
You need to use the name of your pie and the password that goes with it. This can be setup and changed in the RASPI-CONFIG.
Usually Admin followed by password

Where did you get your roms from?
Odd I'm getting a wifi issue where the Pi3B can see my network but it will not connect to it. tested password on phone and pcs, works just fine. Ethernet seems to be the other solution right now. Maybe I'll try having it connect to my phone as well.

Make sure your discovery mode is on in your network and sharing center on your pc or it will not work. Remember the user name will be pi and the password will be raspberry once it prompts for you to enter one.
