    The main things that I’m learning right now: Messing with resetting the game controls to default and then setting my own controls up, setting video screen to full screen without bezels, adding new roms and removing roms. I’m mostly removing games that suck, games that don’t work correctly and games that are in another language other than English. I’m also going to work on adding multiple gamepads for multiplayer games. I eventually want to add light guns that actually work too. I’m also looking into changing the music to a arcade ambient sound. So much to learn, configure and update. :)

    Liked and Subscribed! I would like to see a video of which emulators work the best for different systems. I downloaded RetroPie on PC that is running Linux Mint and it took me a while to figure out where to go to download different emulators for the PS and which one worked the best. I had choppy sound with the one that was installed with the RetroPie install. When I downloaded the other for PS it is working without choppy sound. It would be good to see videos about performance tips for RetroPie, different systems and their emulators, and how to improve playability.

    Amazing guides and tips! Thank you so much.
    Quick question: I read that RP4s at max can only utilize 32GB SD cards but I see you have used a 128 gig card. Am I missing something or is what I read about the 32 gig max inaccurate?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you so much Brandon, much appreciated! 32GB is not the max, that is inaccurate for the Pi 4. In this video, I was using a 128GB up until the point where I demonstrate how to backup/restore your image to a larger capacity. At that point, I used a 512GB microSD card. The official documentation doesn't really specify an upper-limit other than stating "Only the Raspberry Pi 3A+, 3B+ and Compute Module 3+ can boot from an SD card larger than 256 GB." (See here: www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/installation/sd-cards.md ). I don't think the documentation has been updated for the Pi4, however. Hope this helps!

    • @WagnersTechTalk

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I knew what you meant :) I've used WSL under Windows but PuTTY was a bit easier/faster to setup. I installed WSL about 2-3 years ago and wound up having issues and had to re-image my drive shortly after. I'm sure it's likely improved quite a bit since, but for quick access to SSH to the Pi 4 PuTTY worked well in my experience.

    I’ve watched many videos on this and yours are the best! What is the purpose of expanding the file system after an img write? Thanks!

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much Nicholas, I really appreciate it! The purpose of expanding the file system is to make full use of the storage available on the microSD card. This is especially important when moving from a smaller capacity microSD to a higher capacity. Without expanding, the Pi won't see the full size of the new higher-capacity microSD. Hope that helps!

    Dear Wagner, I have a question about how to operate retropie with a zero delay encoder for the controls.
    I have built multiple Arcdae cabinets and I am now running into a problem that I have not encountered before.
    The moment I run retropie for the first time I can configure the controls. This is all going well. Then I choose "configure input" in the menu to configure the 2nd controller. So far everything is going well. Now comes the problem. The moment I restart retropie the controls of 1 of the 2 players are completely mixed up.
    How is this possible. I've built systems before and haven't experienced this problem before.

      That's a strange issue indeed, one I've not encountered. Are you using a pre-built image? I would start with a fresh copy of RetroPie and setup the controllers there. It could be if it is a pre-built image there is some file corruption going on which is causing RetroPie not to save your controller configuration. If none of this helps, I'd recommend posting your question here: www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie . Perhaps someone else has run into the same issue and could provide first-hand advice. Hope this helps!

      Ah, in that case you want to use Pi OS (formerly known as Raspian), enable the VNC Server in Raspi-config (interface options, if I recall correctly) and use Real VNC (client) in Windows/Mac to connect. That should provide you with a GUI, I thought you were talking about RetroPie-only. Those keywords should get you going, at this time I don't have any videos on that but it's similar to SSH (just using a VNC client instead). Hope this helps!

    When you use ssh to get games to console over wifi, do you always have to be on wifi to play games? Because I want to travel with a raspberry pi 4 and play my favorites with friends

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will typically copy your games using this method: wagnerstechtalk.com/rpi4gaming/#Installing_ROMs (see video above that section for a complete end-to-end setup). That is, you won't use ssh to copy files but rather drag and drop them into the share folder. However, once you do that you won't need WiFi once the games are on the Pi. So you can certainly take the Pi 4 wherever you want and won't need WiFi unless you need to copy more games, download themes, etc. Hope this helps!
