AMAZING! This was exactly what I needed. Been through this process several times and got stuck because I assumed it was done and didn't realise I had to not press okay when plugging and unplugging the controller, and there's a slight skip when you select "manage cores" but I realised after watching instead of just listening.
Thankyou so much I've been struggling on this for days by my self

How are you "scrolling down to driver" at 2:20 when it isn't on your menu? This is not working in v4.4

so it can only handle 1 bluetooth device at a time? so if you want to do multiplayer you'd have to put in 2 ps3 controllers but have them wired with usb to work?

As long as they're not Bluetooth it's crap, if u have say 2 PS3 controllers connected at once sometimes one of the controllers will either have a late response or it won't respond at all this is seriously pissing me off! Sometimes when I use the controller say I press right on the d pad for a couple of seconds it will sometimes move in that direction by itself! There is a serious connectivity issue going on here, the people I brought from are obviously a dodgy company!

I tried this with one of the original sixaxis contollers (non Dual Shock 3). When I get to the bit of trying to connect via Bluetooth, all that happens is all the 4 red leds blink on the back of the controller and Retropie doesn't see it. Do you know if there is any way to get this controller to work or do I need to have an updated one (with Dual Shock 3)?

I get all the way to the area that asks you to plug in the controller to the USB and then unplug and press the PS button and it should work but it doesn't...I don't even get the vibration that you said you wait for. I don't even think that the Raspberry Pi even detects the controller while plugged into the USB. I need help.
P.s.- I bought two controllers, once I find the problem to connecting the first one, do I just follow the same steps for the next one?
    Thanks ETA Prime,

I want to configure 2 PS3 controllers wirelessly on my Rasberry Pie 3 model B. Am I able to do that? Do I need to buy bluetooth dongles for 2 of them? Is it possible to connect two PS3 (bluetooth) controllers to Nostalgia Dreams Damaso?
    I
have two controllers PS3, but I can only connect wirelessly to one each
time. Either pad no. 1 or pad no. 2 works. If pad no. 1 works
wirelessly, then pad no.2 only works on the cable. Conversely, if pad
no.2 works wirelessly, pad no.1 only works on the cable.
How to connect both pads wirelessly?

I'm having the exact same problem, as this guy on the Retropie Forum, only I can't get any ps3 bluetooth to connect. I'm using a super nintendo controller to configure but as soon as I plug in the ps3, after following your instructions, it just vibrates, nonstop, and unpugging and pressing the ps button doesn't pair the controllers; brand new btw. Thoughts?

Hi there. I have got two PS3 controllers connected to my Pi 4. I connected to my Pi via desktop (I didn't have any controllers plugged in) and ran the scrip "sudo sh ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh" then used the instructions in this video and it worked fine. It has been a year since your comment, hopefully it is working for you.

Yes of course but coz it's Bluetooth the controllers can play up at times while playing video games especially on Mame. One controller with the Bluetooth can get mixed up with the other controller, could this be a syncing or an issue with Bluetooth when using 2 or more controllers?

When I follow the instructions shown here (and mentioned on screen), it doesn't work when I get to the point of "disconnecting the controller from the USB connection, then pressing the PS button to sync it via bluetooth".
At that point, the 4 red LEDS just repeatedly flash, but no connection is ever made to the RetroPie. :(

Hey ETA. I just received my Pi 3 today and I've been following your tutorials to get Retropie working. I was able to get my PS3 controller connected via bluetooth and was able to map the PS3 inputs with my Pi.
However, when I start any N64 game, my controls somewhat mess up. I mapped the X button on my PS3 controller as A but in the N64 emulator, its acts as Y. In addition, when I start any rom and that message for "Press a button to configure" shows up as the game loads, any button I press, it doesn't work.
I have a SNES-like gamepad that came in my Pi bundle that lets me go to the configuration screen when I press a button but it won't work for my PS3 controller. Any ideas on how to fix it?

I have a official PS3 controller but I follow the steps and nothing happens, I plugged the USB in for 10 seconds, unplugged and it wont pair when pressing PS button. I have removed and re-installed a few times now. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Hello Eta Prime, first of all thank for you videos, you speak very clear all. I have a problem with my controller, it´s a chinese PS3 clon controller and i cant configure it, each time i connect it to the raspberry the controller starts to vibrate all time, do you know what could be happen? Thank you so much

+Bernard So I don't own the Chinese version, but a lot of people are having trouble with them, Retropie had a setting for generic PS3 controllers, I'm not sure if it's still in the menu. I can look when I get home.

Do you know how to make the bluetooth connection persist after a reboot? As soon as I reboot, I have to re-pair my controller. I saw the suggestion on the RetroPie wiki to add "sixad --start &" to the rc.local, but that doesn't seem to have fixed the issue. Any suggestions on how to get this to work? I am using RetroPie 4.1 Thanks in advance!

CWfilms24 I had the same issue you must reassign the controller with usb cable at accessories ps3 menu .
P.S but if you want to play again with pi you must re - pair the controller with pi

    • @troy2478
      @troy2478 7 ปีที่แล้ว

The problem I'm having is on the pi. The PS3 controller works fine to go through menus, but when you launch a game it doesn't work in the game.

Troy Wilborn I'm sorry I didn't understand. I thought that it didn't work with ps3. Then my friend probably is an issue with the drivers or retroarch. Try to re install the drivers.

I have the Shanwan PS3 controller (clone controller) it only works with usb cable plugged and the vibration doesn't stop until I disconnect the cable. Also it doesn't pair with pi but with my ps3 works great. Only original ps3 controller works with pi.
