Shocking. However when I was Building Systems years ago. There was a young kid down the block that built his system using Audiobahn flame series. Everything was chromed-out. The amplifiers, The woofers, every piece of equipment in the car was Audiobahn. Everything was professionally installed, he basically built a car for competition Or show. It was a New Mazda Protege looked great. Got inside the vehicle to give it a listen. I was very disappointed. I never said anything to this kid I didn't want to hurt his feelings. With all the money he invested, it did look fantastic, it sounded like absolute crap. After that day that was a brand that I never even considered. I didn't do a fine-tooth examination I was just surprised by the lack of sound. My system looked like an amateur assembled it. Sounded fantastic. Watching this video brought back those memories.
Yeah, I had Infinity Kappa 6x9's (the green ones) in 1999 and they got water in them and they gave up the ghost. I went to a car audio shop that sold me Audiobahn 6x9's and the capacitors blew up all over my leg twice and ruined two pairs of pants. Oil and yellow fibers everywhere. After that I always considered them a brand I stayed away from.
They had some quality stuff…but you had to wade thru the junk and know what was good. When they first really hit the market hard, they were a lot better….they got cheap the longer they were in business.

Big D... Back in the day, we would DREAM of having an amp that put out nearly 1000 watts (or more). $79 for a sub amp? It bumps; the low ohm tests didn't let out the magic smoke. If you were on a tight budget, had a Kicker sub in a box and needed something cheap to drive it - why not? $79 is a trip to Chili's for 4 these days. Let this thing murder a sub for a while...
My buddy Marc had a big two channel class AB Audiobahn amp hooked up to a couple of Audiobahn 10s in a small ported box that he built for the back of his Wrangler. That system was impressive. It hurt me while sitting in the passenger seat. It disturbed my breathing. Lol I had to get out. When I got out, I could see the windows moving like a damn passive radiator. The rubber seals around the glass were holding on somehow. Lol I told him to keep a window rolled down. Haha I was so impressed that I picked up a couple 12s and a class D mono block amp from Audiobahn for my old Suburban. It didn't sound as good or loud as his system though.
For fun as a side job I used to do car stereo installation. A lot of my customers like the LOOK of Audiobahn. I never heard one Audiobahn system that sounded good. No matter how much money was invested and no matter how much time was put into the installation. The equipment is pure garbage. Your friend probably had the real equipment hiding. The Audiobahn was strictly for show as usual. Looks good, sounds like shit.

for my starter setup before getting a 5K monoblock amp. I had a "Dual" 300 Watt little square amp that was black and chrome from walmart. Only to power my SPL SP15 I had back before they discontinued them. Was rated dual 2 ohm and could be wired down to 1 ohm. I wired it up to 4ohm and bridged to this little 300 watt amp and the results were impressive! It was still really loud for what it was on 300 watts bridged. But that amp got SUPER hot. It was very impressive for a walmart amp back in 2012 - 2013.
Thats actually a great idea. Im gonna start using them in my straight razor collection. The high carbon steel will rust if it so much as hears the word "humidity" thanks👍
Still have an Audiobahn amp that works! It's a 4 channel flame series. I used it up until recently when I replaced it with the Recoil amps. I amp impressed with Recoil BTW! I have a mono block and a 4 channel.
Listening to the souds coming from vw golf, civic's, bmw 3 series etc. An $80,- Amp with two Wish speakers is the set to have. It has to sound like a frequency test. If it is getting loose, you'll hear it.
So just to start with Audobon is still a very good quality set up to buy however, it tells you on the box and everywhere else that you need to install some sort of ventilation or a fan to keep the amp cool and back in the day you had to put fans on every amp you bought it would get hot and go into protection mode. I have no problem on cost me $150 that is throwing out 1000 Watts.
This is crazy I remember when Audiobahn used to be the shit. They had a sister brand. I think it was Digital Audio their stuff used to be so cool to me. My best friends older brother had a 94 Probe, and his homeboy had a 98 cav🎉😢alier. The probe had the black out JVC deck man that thing was so cool wish I could remember the highs, but they were sweet. 2 12in audiobahn subs in a sealed box and like 600 watt profile amp it was white and the audiobahn subs were black and purple and Quan with the Cavalier had 3 10 digital audios black/red and a nasty Precision power amp and infinity highs and I believe it was a Pioneer deck. Mannnnn, both cars sounded good, but the cavalier was crazy. They were freshmen in college and were freshmen in😮 high school, so you could imagine our faces when we got to ride with them. This was like 99 or 2000 long live old school audio long live Big D
I have one of those old amps you pictured... 1 Chanel is out. Can you repair it? I had/HAVE A custom built ported box with 4 12 audio Bahn in a 93 road master estate wagon and it was wicked. For real. I'm 61 and still enjoy the stuff. You're a real boom master
Now I'm still learning about audio but can anyone answer me this. Is a affordable priced amp dynos at 1000watts the same performance as a higher price amplifier for just the performance of powering a identical system. Or is it all box and sub outside of the amplifier power
I remember audiobaun from back in the day had 2 flame 12s inverted with the flame amp then the amp blew so I got an alpine v12 amp and they blew so I got 2 15 inch kickers
i see audiobah hasn't changed my amp from the 90s used to get so hot it would shut down I hate to cut the cover with a grinder to make a cutout to add a 120mm pc fan that i wired to turn on with the amp it never overheated after that.
My biggest question has been.?.how do these amps handle long play abuse? Because my main reason to stick with FOSGATE is for the simple fact that I can play them for over 2 hours peak level and they barely get hot and I have never had one cut off and go into protect mode unless I blew a speaker which i've only done once becuase I try to match each component to play at it's max abilites. So just how do these "new" brands hold up compared to "old school" Rockford Fosgate?
@@danielknepper6884alpine and kicker all I have a couple xtant. are go to for quality as far as bass lows. Any quality amp running highs or mids in perspective should last a long time proper setup and all. Analog amps are better sounding than newer Digi
Holy 💩 Audiobahn is still in business? Can’t believe it made rated power and then some to boot. I’d say that’s a steal for 79 bucks but with a choke that gets that hot, I don’t see it being very reliable.
I was a big fan of Audiobahn back in the early 2000s i had 2 12s 800w (i think) powered by........ The original JL 500. 1 monoblock. had that in a hatchback back and it was Stuuuuupid loud.
I was one of the first people around my way to discover massive audio when everybody else was paying top dollar for Sundown not that these methods are cheap but they're buying Sundown and the other company that are totally totally outrageously priced I'm sure they're good I think they're called Death bounce or something but I have the Sumo XL I've had the angry hippos and I have a shitload of massive Subs in my basement they hit ridiculously hard even the entry level I believe they were 1250 max 750 RMS apiece or even less than that I had just two tens at one point and they hit just as hard as my JL Audio W3 the massive models that I had our the best budget banger on my opinion
For $80...I mean, it's amazing imo--but where I live $80 doesn't buy a meal at Jack-in-the-Box for my family. Regardless--seems like a mind-blowing deal to me.
Hey Big D love your videos bud. Would you by any chance have a list of all the amps you test on a spreadsheet somewhere? I would love to know which amps reach their rated power and at what efficiency. Keep up the great the work.
@@RealPivotTV yes but would be really useful for comparing amp performance. You can filter the info in all sorts of useful ways too. Plus it would be a great way of backing up information other then in video format.
The black diamond choke looks better made tighter turns and looks like more windings . Maybe that's the issue why it's getting so hot being pushed to the max at wired to .5
Hi Big D, Bro. Would love to see you test some powered home sub woofer brands? I own a Sunfire XTEQ12. Would love to see if it really is rated at 3000watts? It does sound really good I have to admit. Peace 💪😎✌

Listening to the souds coming from vw golf, civic's, bmw 3 series etc. An $80,- Amp with two Wish speakers is the set to have. It has to sound like a frequency test. If it is getting loose, you'll hear it.
I really really enjoy videos with this sub. This sub and a Gately acrylic enclosure.... makes mehappy
That’s really good for $80. 1000w for under $100 these days are amazing. I’m so glad it doesn’t cost much to make a good sounding system on a budget.
For $80 smoking along at half an ohm I'm not worried about the warranty😅
Would you really want to be in their database anyway with who likely owns the brand now? ;)
@@kjata77 a good point. But unless they're planning on sourcing a kidney from me then not going to get much I'm so broke I can barely pay attention...
@BlueDinnie Some Mexican cartels do that too, not exclusive to Asia anymore of course. ;)
@@kjata77 lol
So just to start with Audobon is still a very good quality set up to buy however, it tells you on the box and everywhere else that you need to install some sort of ventilation or a fan to keep the amp cool and back in the day you had to put fans on every amp you bought it would get hot and go into protection mode. I have no problem on cost me $150 that is throwing out 1000 Watts.
In the late 90's/early 2000's this brand was decent enough. I think I had a sub, an active crossover and possibly an amp
12hrs later the amp is unavailable 😂
The white glove didn’t make the pro’s list? Come on 😂. Pretty impressive especially at the price you paid. Fun video.
I use it now for putting Grey Poupon on my sandwiches
@@wal Hahahaha! Man you crack me up.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Seems like a decent find for the price point.
Reminds me of the old Pyramid amps...lol. Cheap but effective....for a little over 30 days @ half ohm. Best to just use the 400 watts. Thanks!
AudioBahn has been around for a long time. My bro had 2 of there 12s in a nice AudioBahn band pass box. Bought it at the “Sales of the Century” lol
Cool amp for low $, but you got me hooked on the D4S amps. Very happy with them.
Now I'm still learning about audio but can anyone answer me this. Is a affordable priced amp dynos at 1000watts the same performance as a higher price amplifier for just the performance of powering a identical system. Or is it all box and sub outside of the amplifier power
Showing how hot the amplifier became should let you know stay away from this company I never spend $79 on an amplifier unless you're driving tweeters
Perfectly awesome amp and better than ones ive seen on the market, now only thing to see is if it puts out Good sound
The chrome flame amp are the best, I still have the 2300HTX
I remember audiobaun from back in the day had 2 flame 12s inverted with the flame amp then the amp blew so I got an alpine v12 amp and they blew so I got 2 15 inch kickers
Audiobhan rack mount amps were beast!
i see audiobah hasn't changed my amp from the 90s used to get so hot it would shut down I hate to cut the cover with a grinder to make a cutout to add a 120mm pc fan that i wired to turn on with the amp it never overheated after that.
listen i had a 2000 kia sephia with a audiobahn 10 inch sub and amp lmao i couldnt afford kicker atm this was 2006. now all i use is kicker
I used to have audiobahn back in the late 90s with the flame baskets.
I had a couple of those DVC audiobahn flame series. Great speakers.
Liberace would have been proud😂😅
My biggest question has been.?.how do these amps handle long play abuse? Because my main reason to stick with FOSGATE is for the simple fact that I can play them for over 2 hours peak level and they barely get hot and I have never had one cut off and go into protect mode unless I blew a speaker which i've only done once becuase I try to match each component to play at it's max abilites. So just how do these "new" brands hold up compared to "old school" Rockford Fosgate?
Rockford FosBreak 😅
@@danielknepper6884alpine and kicker all I have a couple xtant. are go to for quality as far as bass lows. Any quality amp running highs or mids in perspective should last a long time proper setup and all. Analog amps are better sounding than newer Digi
Love the videos on cheapos lol also loved the adding the wiring for ohm loads 😊😊
The $80 is well worth it and the hz is perfect and ideal
Love the heat map!
it would have been nice to know how hot the amp ran when run within the amps specified ohm range......
I had that same issue, after I had ordered a Driven By DB Drive DX65 ; 6.5 subwoofer.
Literally just bought the last one before the endof the video ill cancel if big d disapproves. The red matches my ds18 highs amp 😊
Holy 💩 Audiobahn is still in business? Can’t believe it made rated power and then some to boot. I’d say that’s a steal for 79 bucks but with a choke that gets that hot, I don’t see it being very reliable.
Woke up this morning without knowing today would be a return of audiobahn
Haven’t seen an amp get that hot since the Soundstream 6.0.
Or should I say “Sunstream “ back when they were still good.
I always enjoy watching your tests!
How did you set up your lab for sound, or do your neighbors hate you?
That Massive is so fkn cool I want one so bad.
Hey big D I was wondering... Do your neighbors complain a lot about your recording of the Bass?
Sorry if I missed it in the past, but what's the lowdown on the your Rod's blue paint? Looks killer!
Mexico took the "high note" to a whole new level.
Just checked Amazon sold out but they did have a massive amp advertisement coincidence im sure
I've still got 2 Audiobahn 12s from 1999😆👍
Yes as long as amp can handle ohm depending on rms power will depend on how much sub can move besides box limits
Yes my AMM-1 is out for updates or I would've shown the actual power/ohm load with the speaker.
I won't use a box unless it has Rhino liner on the outside anymore
I'm already confused, the Amazon ad showed 1000Wx1 but the Packaging says 2400W...
For $79 that ‘s definitely a gem.
Besides color this amp reminds me of Rockford prime series amps
Love it thanks for the videos, would love too see some headuniit output clames and the most efficient unit U can find
Hey I got two kicker comp 10s and I was wondering if you could recommend a budget friendly amp
For $80...I mean, it's amazing imo--but where I live $80 doesn't buy a meal at Jack-in-the-Box for my family. Regardless--seems like a mind-blowing deal to me.
Hey at 8:52 that bass note your playing is that from "Bass Hit" Bass is Loaded ! ? Old-school from the early 90's
Hey Big D love your videos bud. Would you by any chance have a list of all the amps you test on a spreadsheet somewhere? I would love to know which amps reach their rated power and at what efficiency. Keep up the great the work.
That would be a long spreadsheet. 13 years….
@@RealPivotTV yes but would be really useful for comparing amp performance. You can filter the info in all sorts of useful ways too. Plus it would be a great way of backing up information other then in video format.
@@Ray-uc8ij I didn’t say it wouldn’t be helpful it would be the holy grail of lists I just said it would be super long…. :)
@BassDad that's what she said 😮😂
Wonder how much longer it'll last at 1ohm or lower with some good piping from the A.C directed at it😅
How is massive subs? Purely spl?
Love the videos brother the comedy is really cool too lol
The black diamond choke looks better made tighter turns and looks like more windings . Maybe that's the issue why it's getting so hot being pushed to the max at wired to .5
79.00 and runs @.5? If it did it more than once the buyer got their moneys worth
I still have two Audiobahn 12's in one of my cars...powered by some old hifonics AB amps lol
Do a video for home audio a power yamaha p9500s
Audiobahn has many product lines overseas. Even DSP's & headlights
Damn I wasn't expecting it to even get close to rated power. Not bad at all.
Hi Big D, Bro. Would love to see you test some powered home sub woofer brands? I own a Sunfire XTEQ12. Would love to see if it really is rated at 3000watts? It does sound really good I have to admit. Peace 💪😎✌
Wasn't alphasonic the company that had the warranty countdown timer?
