aw man... watching you feels like watching Furze in the beginning.... here's to you having lots of cool crazy projects and a massive shop with a bunch of insane tools, if that sort of thing is your bag.
For this task, you'll need a proper 3-phase motor of several horsepower to ensure that under cyclical load your motor does not bog down meaning it doesn't slow down. Currently you have a distortion floor probably 90% depending on frequency. This is purely out of the fact that your motor is unable to continue spinning at full rate ( which it is not in the first place even without a load). Keep working at it my friend, then building these for better part of 15 years or something close to it. However when thigpen finally got it all worked out perfectly put it towards a patent that changed everything he did an excellent job worked out the true RPM cycles that were required etc etc. If you ever get the chance try one of his units out there damn well built in very on point within its design. Cheers
So huge that we finally have more rotary sub content on TH-cam. Nobody knows what these things are and they’re so cool it’s awesome to see more people talking about them
Completing the frequency band like that would be amazing for a gaming room/simpit, add that depth of feeling the explosions or jet engine rumbles in the lower frequencies with a high fidelity rotary sub would be awesome!! Keep up the great work!!
And with a little signal processing it could be fed its signal slightly ahead of everything else, to help cancel out the latency responding to the input.
Hell yeah! Great video. For anyone wanting to make one of these, Parts Express has an 8" capless woofer on clearance for super cheap. Excursion doesn't matter since if you want it louder, just make the fan turn faster. Congrats on the engagement too!
Fan speed has the ill effect of being loud. A blade design that is built for static pressure would be better then speed and let's the blades turn better.

Hello friend. I am actually a rotary subwoofer scientist myself. I have some advice to help you on your rotary subwoofer journey. The music you want to "re-bass" for the rotary subwoofer needs to have bass for the rotary sub that is more like a "supernatural effect" than actual bass. When you only re-bass the music with bass and octave lower than bass in the music, it does sound pretty cool, but there is still more rotary sub application and potential than just that. Keep up the good work!
Heya dude I've seen your stuff and it was part of the inspiration for this, thankyou for commenting. I will get some relapsed down to 3hz as my friend firs 0db revass tracks which is exciting. I might throw some in the van!
@@PacmanBasshead thanks for responding! If I were you, I probably would re-design the tilting mechanism for the blades just so it's easier to swing them back and forth faster to achieve higher bass. Always fun to see folks give a go at a DIY version of the Thigpen Rotary Woofer. It certainly is a novel concept, just impossible to get without tremendous noise issues.
This is absolutely insane! On the "budget" idea, AC dimmer switches/knobs make really good analog speed controls far more granular than a "3 - 2 - 1" fan switch. I helped my little bro build a coal forge with an old christmas inflatable blower with this trick! Wire up a dual outlet and dimmer in a dual gang junction box for an input/output standalone speed controller, or wire it internally for a chassis mount solution!

You sir are my hero! Keep up the great videos, I love your work and I've learned loads of things that I've never even thought of!
Im glad! I'm very pleased these are useful and you enjoy them!
@PacmanBasshead I forgot to say congratulations on your engagement! Your Mrs must have the patience of a saint to put up with all of your experiments and creations! Seriously though your videos are the perfect blend of comedy and information/tutorial. I've recommended your channel to a few of my friends and they've all enjoyed your videos
I love that passion you have for building more and more crazy stuff! Great content
Thankyou dude, ill keep going as long as I can
Congrats mate. I want to attempt a project like this soon! Congrats on the engagement and thanks for some awesome content and you're taste of humor. Definitely needed it lol
The world needs more idiots haha, im glad you enjoyed it!
HE'S BACKKKKK 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Congrats on the engagement, by the way 🥳
Haha ill try not to have such a gap next time!
@@PacmanBasshead Not a problem at all 👍 you've got a good enough reason 😂😂
TH-cam suggesting to me a new creator that's both hilarious and talented? I guess it's time to start a binge watch
Haha thankyou, hope you enjoy!
I watched one of your videos on how to set a car amp gain. I just finished building the boxes for a set of TL speakers. Thanks for the inspiration
Crikey that's an old one, still, that technique has never done me wrong!
Congratulations on the window smashing engagement 😁
She loved it, sort of..
Always fun to see folks give a go at a DIY version of the Thigpen Rotary Woofer. It certainly is a novel concept, just impossible to get without tremendous noise issues.
Exactly, if moving air, you will make noise sadly. And the side of the blades chopping air makes a high frequency, sadly
Cool idea!
10:18 That bug has some solid evasive maneuvers!😂 Great video. I love low-frequency stuff like this.
Just found this channel. If you keep delivering videos this good it's only a matter of time until your subscriber count skyrockets!
Haha thankyou, that's the hope! Many years of hard work, finally paying off!
This guy is way too underrated, humour is on-point. Love it! You just got a new subscriber!
Welcome, and thankyou!
Thank you algorithm overlords for suggesting this video! You've got yourself a new subscriber 😁
Welcome, and thankyou!
Ah...another man with the subroutine of, "I wonder what would happen if..." running through his head.
LOVE IT
Thoroughly enjoyed that Adam and yes, I was amazing.
Yes you were. Stay that way!
Your probably the funniest most educational bloke on TH-cam who just says it as it is
Just pinch the motor out of the washing machine saves you buying one
Bruh.. Yes.
Its not variable speed though..
I came here expecting copper but i found gold, great video man.
That's super kind thankyou so much! gold is more conductive too so thats a bonus..
This man really deserves that 20k subs :D Looking forward to the "less optimal" version of this design
The things that gets me with TH-cam is how you have some many view but people don't subscribe it takes 1 second
