Where my 90s people at? Who remembers that little AutoTek amp that took the world by storm?
Yes sir. I had several 44s.
I never had Qutotek, but I STILL love my kicker zr240, the thing was made in 94 and still works great.
Hifonics was my joints
@@EricRabb I had a hifonics Brutus sub, it was awesome til I killed it 😞
I've still got my 44
These are intended for the Brazilian market, that’s why is not showing on the US website. From what I heard, they’re the same as the EVO-X but without the active crossovers. I currently have 3 of these “gray” Soundigital amps, one 400.4 and two 800.4’s on my Harley with a DSP so, I don’t need them to have crossovers and I’m super happy with them.
Do you use a head unit? Or a bluetooth style like the other motorcycle speakers you typically see on handlebars and places like that
In my tests it did 65wx4 at 4 ohm, 122wx2 at 2 ohm 248x2 bridged at 4 ohm at +- 14.8V, and it sounded really good on the Klipsch RP-160M
Hey, I saw this amp and instantly thought " how would this work/sound on a set of bookshelf speakers?" I've got the RP-600M models... What psu did you use to power them?
The magic word is Klipsch.
@@MrKormendor a guitar cab.
Reminds me of the old punch 45 back in my day.
That's one of the best of all time. Remember the sherwood 240
@@fishscale71 yes I do
I had the punch 20x2,, pounding out 2 10's
These are great! I just bought 400.2 EVO 5 for my fronts and it does the job well
I bought a couple of these when they were $70, I traded one today for a R250.4 that didn't end up fitting under the guy's seat. The SounDigital did great. The crossover isn't adjustable but that's ok, it sounded pretty good. The wiring was done, all I did was hook it up, set the gains with the DD-1 & send him on his was after 20 min. It was worth the trade (for both of us really). Thanks for the heads up on this
I've got one of the Stetsom Iron Line amps zip tied behind the dash of a Honda Ridgeline. It's running an Atoto A6 Android auto radio, four 6.5s, and two silk tweeters. I'm so impressed with it I bought one of these Soundigital amps for a light weight install in my 91 Camaro. Glad to see this video! I've noticed some of the artifacts these little full bridge amps add but in a noisy vehicle and with a 31 band EQ it makes almost no difference in real world use. The fact that I have about 350 bucks in EVERYTHING in this vehicle including install gear, the 6.5s, and of course some old school goodness in the form of MTX silk tweeters I installed in the dash simply blows me away. Comparing this to the setups I had in the early 2000s it really does feel like we're living in the future we dreamed of! I'll be adding a pair of Hifonics 6.5 subwoofers soon.
That's a kick ass little amp! Great review Big D!! I wouldn't mind getting 2 of these to run all my mids & highs in my Altima
That amp was a screw storage device in a past life 😅
i have installed a bunch of these here in brazil and i love this thing man never had a problem with them and i love the SQ . love this little thing
Tiny and mighty!
My nickname in high school
Pretty nice to see car Audio companies adding new technologies to their products and make it more accessible for people either withing a budget or not much space to work with
I've done some bench testing with this amp and one note to add. Due to the way the power supply is designed it idles at .6A draw and heats up to 113F doing nothing. Not a negative, just mentioning that a person will need to take idle current and heat production into account for a motorcycle build depending on circumstances.
been sceptical about soundigital products but might buy one soon! Thank you for this video, Big D!
Cool little amp thanks for sharing.
I been wanting an amp that will fit behind my dash and here it is. Awesome.
That's a fascinating little amp.
got that little amp . run midranges 3 inch and tweeters active, sounds amazing
I got this amp last week and I love it ❤
These are my favorite reviews. Small amps that do big things. They can fit in all locations and can give you some great sound. A++++ Big D
true great sound is one thing, being small and compact is another thing
Back in the day I had a 1990 Ford Festiva and I had a 12" Blaupunkt subwoofer in a triangular shaped truck box with a HiFonics bass booster (kind of an amp, but not really), and it slammed pretty good with a full Sony Xplod tape deck, Sony 10-disc CD changer, along with sony mids and highs. It was a single channel and claimed to provide 150 watts. It didn't sound bad at all, so I wish I could find that little bass booster so I could test it, but that was 24 years ago.
This is exactly what I was looking for got a regular cab truck. Got a all in one 10inch sub under the seat but wanted to get 4 aftermarket speakers in the truck running at full power.
I ran a Hifonics Cupid on my mids and highs back in the day- this amp looks like it performed!
😂😂😂
Brings back memories of the mid 80's (before the Rockford-Fosgate era) Sony was killin' it with their XM-120 "red-face" amps (as we called them ) and XS Series speakers that sported a red pin-stripe on their black speaker grills. With that red pin-stripe XS line-up, Sony introduced their 8in round 3-way speakers (XS-880's) and 8in round subs (XS-L20's), which really catapulted the "speaker box" building craze.
Those that couldn't afford both the 880's and L20's and the extra XM-120 red-face amp needed (like I had), could still "THUMP" pretty good using just two XS-880 3-ways and another new product introduced back then, called the "THRUSTER" passive-radiator. Those things revolutionized home-built speaker boxes and sounded awesome, as long as your box was air-tight. Also, no Sony car system was complete without the Sony XM E70 7-band 25w x 25w equalizer, with it's tiny "bouncing" 3-color led display. 😎
Ahhh, those were the days!! 😆
@@MAGGOT_VOMIT i remember all of that too
@@MAGGOT_VOMITwow great memories
I ran 2 cupids. One on my front components and one bridged to a single 10. Always received good sq scores , but lacked in other areas.
Looks legit! The 1% test bridged was a little disappointing but it did rated uncertified… for the $$, that’s a win.
I bought a different brand on Amazon and it was pretty good quality. Still got a little hot but I was also impressed. Timpano 500.4 2ohm. My subs blew its fuse but I plan on running two of them for my mids and highs.
That amp looks like a counterfeit.
I bought a couple 400.4 EVOX2 amps over a year ago from a dealer. I was very impressed.
Fast forward to about a month ago. A friend wanted some advice and help so, I steered them to the 800.4 EVOX2. They bought it on Amazon. Turned out to be a counterfeit. After hookup, had a horrible ground loop noise until little puffs of smoke emanated from the vent holes 3 minutes later.
Soundigital amps (both EVOX and EVOX2) are black, not dark gray. Both series have both low-level and high-level inputs. Both have switchable x-over and adjustable cutoff.
Also, the counterfeit we received was bought from the same Amazon seller “OTTO GROUP”
Would you be able to review the 5000.1 evo4.0 specifically and also the 3000.1 evo5
If u have a 80prs. Or sound processor they sound pretty good.
I love the way you said "dahm" for the reference clip!
Over 300 bridged! INSANE
hi,great little amp wow.was wondering where you ran the remote wire from the amp to,i see theres an on/off switch also, cheers
They sell in USA, alot of motorcycle shops sell them, have 2, evo 800.4, running bridged, 400 watt rms. For over a year, been waiting for you to test that one. But glad the smaller one you did. I tun 5 amps in my bike, hopefully you will test the ds18, 3600.4. Rumor is 800 watt rms in channel mode. As I need 800 watt rms for my mids. Yet.
Impressive especially considering the size
DAMN! That is a beast in a cute package for it's overall size and cost ..... I don't know if I'd ever even want to go really high end when I am able to build a system eventually.... I love blowing people's minds so I love using stuff you don't expect to work, much less actually provide more than acceptable performance compared to something new or much much bigger.... utilize a few tricks many people don't use in like box design and whatnot, but I'd be just as proud of something using rebuilt/old/used/small pieces of equipment (other than the speakers - I love me some good size speakers and shaking the ground) versus full-sized brand new gorgeous setup that might be fancier and look all sexy and everything plus a good price tag that reflects it. (I know many things are worth it absolutely, but hey, I'm broke at the moment) Great video as always Big D! Crank that puppy up and have a fabulous day! Thank you for being you and all you do! Much love to you and your loved ones! 🍻🌎♥️🎶🕺
I had the 600.4 that they don't sell in the states. It was surprisingly amazing.
did not expect this thing to make this much power
I have 2 of the newer 400.4s and they are so perfect
Am I the only one who has thoughts about running multiple of these tiny amps to run an entire setup? Two of them bridged running two dual voice coil 8” or 10” subs. Another one running front components, and another to run midbass as well as rear full. It would require a dsp, but it would be a differnet setup that would stand out from others.
Just an idea. Great video Big D, as usual!!
Its doable, maybe not the best sounding.
I’m running 2 800.4 evo x2 bridged on 4 cicada 6.5s on a bike. Decent amps.
Na...I'll just use the right amp
@@jerryrivera7704 it is the right amp in some cases. The small footprint is great for tight spaces. These put out more power to size then most of the junk you see in car audio. Find another company that can compete with a 3000.1 that a little bigger than you hand vs a huge amp that’s not true to power.
@@jerryrivera7704 It is the right amp for me. I'm tight on space and it checks all the boxes.

I have the same exact amp on my Single Cab Nbs Sierra . Put it beside the airbag module under the seat . Use it for my Mids & Highs Powering up some Oncore Speakers
Yo! This is like the continuation of the Taramps DS440 x4. These amps are getting so unbelievably small. Very cool stuff.
Good little amp for budget highs, would consider it myself but it gets way to hot on its own for the Phoenix heat...
Thank you very detailed video congratulations

I'd like to see the NVX MVPA1 @ 1 ohm on the quad box.
Curious about actual db's on that tiny amp
Thanks for sharing a great video
My corolla had 6x9s factory in the back deck behind the seats. This would be good for running a couple of those or all the door speakers. Just finding a spot to put it knowing its gonna get as hot as a stove top is the problem.
After seeing this, I just ordered 4 of them. I need some amps I can fit IN my doors for my active 3 way setup..
Everything is driven off a dsp.
I have the 400.4 EVO2, bridged on my Harley powering 2 Cicada 6.5 coax horns. I also have a dsp, and the sound is so clear and loud that I can hear them at higher than highway speeds.
Cicada is on a different level when it comes to loud and clear. The CH65 is what you have and they get it
@aarongreene9963 definitely a huge difference from the Blam 6.5's I had. I also replaced my lids with the same Cicada 6.5's that are powered by an SD 800.4 EVOX2 bridged. This winter I'll install another SD 800.4 EVOX2 to run the fairing speakers.
I would add use the 800.4's to power the midrange and use that 400.4 for the horns. Add a DSP and it would be screaming.
@dannyb2805 I was thinking about doing that.but I'm also adding a Cicada 1600.1. I think the system is starting to get too big for a daily rider. Might need to add an extra battery and larger stator.
For that price you could just get the 2500 watt power acoustic amp and it holds up to anything. Had one hooked up on an outdoor system and no matter how many times it stormed it always worked after the rain was gone. Had that amp for 3 years was in 4 different cars and an outdoor system
What would you recommend for a 12v power supply to run this off 110. Thanks
Love these mini amp tests! Would love to see you do some more 5ch amps! Really looking into that recoil or the d4s . Also when you doing them small sub test !?! 6.5 or 8s? Love that idea get on it ya big dummy
I'd like to see 5ch amp reviews too, no one seems to do them.
For that matter, I am volunteering my vehicle. Any time at a test subject for it's a tramp's. Bring it on crank it up and haul deafness to it's fullest !!!!!!
The tiny size and low price of this amp are a testament to good engineering. The sound quality 'issue' could be mitigated by restricting the frequency range the amp was asked to reproduce. In other words, I could see this amp being useful driving multiple midrange and tweeter speakers to sound levels below 'earth shattering'. Of course, that would require an external crossover. Looks like a winner!
How about a good ol 10 octave EQ, prior to signal amplification ?? With maybe, maybe a dyi cut-off in mid ranges ?? I like math, it's AWSOME
I do NOT want an amp that can't easily reproduce the standard 20-20k human frequency range.
@@davelowetswhat do you mean?
So basically this amp is perfect for upgraded highs and mids in a basic upgraded passenger car stereo?
@@longsleevethong1457 Yeah thats what i want to know I don need alot of power but i want to use rca instead of factory speaker wire harness and have more power than my pioneer radio

I installed soundigital Amps in my nieces suv and been highly impressed with them. Small packages, good price point and seems to be very stout. Reminds me of my old punch 45 back in the early 90’s.
I would choose the Punch 45's any day over these

Had a 300 watt dual audio amp from walmart back in 2013 - 2014. It was black and chrome. Was capable of pushing a 15 inch sub running 2 ohms on a summer day. That sub was rated for 2000W rms. The amp got very hot, but never tripped into safe mode. I was really shocked, and used that amp till I decided to get a 2000 watt Class D to put that sub on a real test.
see that old school kicker in the floor would love to have 4 of them !
This brand is the most popular brand of most the guys to do audio on Harley Davison bikes. They’re very popular because of the fact that they do rated power plus a little extra usually, and mostly due to their tiny size. 800.4 and 1200.4 being bought most frequently. There really isn’t any other Amplifier brand that will allow you to put two 800 white amplifiers in a fairing of a Harley Davidson for the longest time. This was the only brand that I can think of other than sound streams tiny little units, which do not put out really power and never last very long, inside of bearing full of vibration and moisture. Coming from someone who is into Audio for bikes it is my opinion that you would do very well to feature more amplifiers like this. It would generate lots of views and new subscribers for you. And provide much needed info to the bike audio community. Me personally I would love to see you out a euphoria xpert ex800.4 on the dyno. It claims to do 400x4 rms at 2 ohms and I would love to know what the real numbers are for that amplifier. Bc of it really did 400x4 that would allow guys to run 4 sets of 4ohm speakers in parallel; one set of drivers per channel. And they’d each get 209 watts a piece. That would be a awesome set up with lotsa power with only one amp in the fairing
I do custom audio mainly on bagger motorcycles and Soundigital is all I use for amplifiers. Never had a failure in the 6 years I've been using them.
Oh man, thanks for the feedback, I love to hear stuff like this
I have the SounDigital 400.2 EVOX on my Street Glide driving Hertz SX165 Neo speakers. It seems a little more distorted than my last motorcycle audio. Jay at Volunteer Audio says these SounDigital amps have lots of distortion and that's why he doesn't sell them. Is it your experience that you trade off some distortion for the lower price and smaller size of these amps comparted to a similar Hertz or other well known amp brand?
So would this tiny amp power 2 eights good enough to give it good sound?
This amp is small enough to fit behind ur head unit up in the dash i have done that with several of the mini taramps that u tested the mini kicker key amp i couldnt get to fit or the mini alpine.

Apparently it's not recommended on the Jensen xd92rb ether but I run one bridged to a 2ohm load and it's fine no issues at all
Got one on a actually 3 wheeler pettle bike!!. Pretty amazing!!..how are those quads L7s setup?
Would probably do real well on some quality full range 6x9s.
Could you please dyno the new down4sound mini max 1000 mono amp 🙏🙏
i have this amp in my w203 glovebox. really good amp for the price. you should test the 3kw version. i have one powering my sub
I grew up with amps from a number of brands, and no matter what the power output they provided they were all huge and heavy. Before buying a Sundown SFB-1000 I wouldn't have believed it, after buying one the physical dimensions of the amp seem almost meaningless now. I feel like you could get 1000w out of something the size of a deck of cards at this point.
yes exactly , i built a boombox with a 1kw watts amp that literally is smaller than my phone , altough it doesn't have any step up circuitery in it so its kinda cheating but still ;)
finally. After years of installations, they finally got it through their heads that CARS are SMALL. Small amps are the future for sure.
@@davidfrancois2764 thats what i want to do want to build a gaget like u...did
@davidfrancois2764 NO, 😆 Your boom box isn't outputting anything NEAR 1000 watts.
@@davelowets Bet ?
I have an old JL audio 6ch amp in my truck just because I had it laying around... amps like this make it hard to justify having that giant old thing around... lol. Wish they would have put in a fan on this thing or make the case more of a heatsink - that would have driven the price up, but it'd be worth it IMO.
That's what my can am spyder needs, but cant find it on amazon, there is a much expensive version
Do you ever do any infinity subs or amps?
Watching the quad subs flex with that power reminded me that every 2X in power after the first WATT is just diminishing returns
Instead of upgrading your battery or alternator (which can be expensive AF), whats your opinion on Amp/Sub Capacitors?
Impressive
It’s funny that there are amps out there which have lower ratings dynamically, I only faced the same situation during a dyno one time with a rockford p300-1 which is still available and far away from being old school, but dynamically it went into protect at 1 ohm ( also fun test) but continuous it was able to put out even more power 😂 it started to smell a little bit. Seems like strange behavior of protection circuit 😮
Anyone whose ran Rockford Amps, know that smell
Very impressed.. my power rockford Fosgate 1500x1 is looking more outdated 😢
4.0 series is released in the South American market. They are identical power to the US models. The only difference is they do not have adjustable cross overs. They are fixed. The X series have adjustable cross overs.
Stetsom IR 400.4 is the same amp in a different heat sink.
Think about the amps back in the 90s that were a foot long and once you opened them up they were only a 1/4 of the actual size. Great review!
The old variation on the big watch little..well you know.
Only if you purchased Pyramid garbage or similar
Every foot long I've owned was STUFFED with rows of output transistors, end to end.
Don't buy cheap shit, because that's what you'll end up with.
Not bad this tiny rumble bee👍👍👍
Anything full bridge from sound digital is gonna impress.
Seems really nice for a bad ass DIY portable speaker.
😮
Thanks to this video I bought one of these amps. Specs recommend a 20 amp fuse but uses 8 gauge wire which calls for a 50 amp fuse. Which fuse should I use?
Would this amp be a good choice for a classic American car, 4 speaker, set up? My main concern is with the heat. Would it be too hot for under behind dash mounting?
Sound Digital the Real mini amp Beast mode 🎉😮
I have the same Lil Amp, I bought it off eBay
Sounddigital is awesome
That little dude might be good to run a couple of pro audio 'fill' speakers in the back doors. Maybe use it for some high power 3" or 4" dash speakers if the sq is good enough.
Very unique design. They have made the chip amp daughter board on aluminum. The same type of pcb that is used in led lights to cool the led chips better. These have excellent thermal conductivity and sinks 10-15w heat from that size of chip easily.
The class d chip i think is international rectifier ir4321. Which is capable of 90w at 10% thd.
What do u think would be a good amp for a bluetooth speaker, around 200 x 2? I want to push 2 8s and 2 tweeter's properly
@@jonathanginofilippi get one of those cheap class ab pioneer or sony dual channel amps. They are 120w into 2ohms and 80w into 4ohm class ab. Very very reliable and cheap. Will run on a 12v power supply set it to 14.5v
Buy one of those ebay 60amp powersupply. They advertise 60amps but they won't deliver anywhere close to it. But your amplifier won't use more than 20-30amps and if used like that those powersuplies last very long. I bought many of them and they don't fail if you don't run them at 100% load.
Keep it below 50% and those ebay 10-20$ psu's are great. Or if you have the money buy a delta or meanwell 30-40amp 12v powersupply. Make sure it's adjustable so you can set it to atleast 14v. Don't go over 15v.

Love this man!! I’ve been almost contemplating on making a vid myself
I’ve done a lot but I’ve recently hooked up 3 12 kicker cvrs to a old mono 500w Bazooka amp lol (weak) but!
Wired to 2 ohms the dvc’s absolutely SLAP! Amp never shuts off either . No bass boost it’s all the way down … crossover either off or 80h but in a nutshell it’s Way underpowered and kicks a$$!
Mind u this is off a line out converter too lol
Ppl need to learn how to tune the amps instead of I need “biggest baddest “ very nicely done man✌️
Awesome
Loved & appreciate the easter egg @07:05 :D Is that a 'C' model of Solo-Baric (12")? I used to have two S15D4s in my 4-Door Geo Metro in the late 1990's, wish I never sold them. They were great until they broke my A/C compressor mount (SPL) and I was without A/C in Central FL from that point forward, obviously no rear view mirror ever after installing them. I miss my JDL 700 watt amp (deep purple metal shine finish, D4S should offer multiple colors for heat sinks across models, not a different color for each model... the major system design reason I won't buy D4S amps and surely I'm not alone). This amp is currently $79.99 on AMZ. If it was selling for $59.99 it would be a GREAT buy for a go-cart amp or other smaller bike/e-bike/PowerWheels set-up for sure. The 'snack size' package of the amp and meeting rated power (each amp obviously may do a lil more or lil less than rated, don't troll me) do make it a great value. However, cooling could be pricey or a concern. If only it was a marine certified amp (again, $79.99 is pricey as-is IMO). The features are great though.
I want one!
