I have their small 2.5" fullrange speakers in my car dash and they sounds really good, with some filter/DSP it´s quite impressive together with bass drivers in the front doors and subwoofer in back.
Congrats..Really good video and an excelent topic.... I also ordered some medium budget drivers from that brand but my "fears" were always related to the datasheet values. At least for me that I can't validate them the same way you did.
Awesome idea for a video. The specs being way off is what I expected, but I'm very curious what you can pull off in a speaker design using Aliexpress drivers.
Just before discovering this video I had ordered the one you mentioned as interesting on the site. That one with a "gold" and a black variant. I took the black one. We'll see. My primary use is to play bass 🎸 on it so I don't really have the same needs. For instance low E on the bass is 42Hz and there's no reason the speaker would ever encounter lower frequencies.
I would have been curious if you would buy a pair, to see parameter consistence. The 5" driver seems quite fair, but if you buy a pair and one has Qts of 0,4 and the other one 0,8 than is just a magnetic paperweight...
They sell proper dynaudio speakers on their, the flagship ones. They would be among the most expensive single 6 inch drivers they have. The esotars beautiful drivers.
good video thanks!, quick question i have an empty box (old focal 707s) and love the build quality of the cabinet, hence looking for best options for 2 way bookshelf and crossover, any recommendations? thanks in advance.
Great video. I bought 3 of your courses and I am learning a lot. I do have one question about passive radiators if I don't know the Parameters of the radiator how can I measure them? Thanks.
Hi, can I ask if you sent your speaker measurement results back to Aiyima? I was thinking this would be beneficial for people looking into purchasing speakers in the future and get Aiyima to 'lift their game'. Cheers J
I've always wondered how the speakers on AliExpress were, I didn't think the T/S would be trustworthy. There are also some that look like name brand knock-offs.
Keep in mind that AliExpress is simply a storefront type selling system, basically the same as ebay. So all of those products are sold from various different brick and mortar stores.
That 5" uses the same exact frame as the Dayton epique. Not at all surprising... Chinese common practice is to manufacture products for US companies and then "borrow" those designs/materials to sell house-branded products via ali or banggood, or direct to Chinese markets. Because IP is meaningless and there's no legal recourse. Lol
In my country the shipping and import fees when buying from parts express/ other sites based in the US is ridiculous, you often pay more than what you paid for the product just for shipping and import fees for example i bought a 75$ 10" driver and the shipping was nearly 50$ and 20$ import fees I've been buying drivers off aliexpress since and have had pretty great results for the most part (generally haven't spent more than 50$ on a driver from them but what I've purchased so far definitely has me impressed for the most part)
Watch the video, the Vas number is there (don't remember the value). Regardless of Vas, Qts is over 1. Which means, this speaker is designed for infinite baffle / open baffle setup (or oversized sealed box).
Marius, the six inch speaker driver is paper cone or metal? And the 5" speaker is metal cone or paper? Regards from Portugal 🇵🇹 Edit: do they have both a rubber surround or foam surround? 😂
High qts is 0.4-0.7. That’s good for sealed. 0.7-1.2 is good for infinite baffle, open baffle or oversized sealed box. Anything above 1.2 is mainly a bad speaker and should be avoided.
Not sure if they offer them... but when I was considering refoaming vs replacing 6.5" woofers for a Phillips Woox mini-stereo... I discovered some interesting things... First... I tried replacing the original drivers with some Sony and Aiwa drivers, that I had collected earlier. Both sounded like complete TRASH compared to the Original Phillips woofers. Next, I looked up the Company and Driver markings on the Woofers... They were from a Taiwan company called EastTech. These were MUCH higher quality drivers, than what is put inside of most typical boom box systems. According to what I read, these were specifically made for the special Passive radiator speakers... with a much longer Excursion ...to be able to deliver greater bass levels, without any potentials for over-excursion based distortions. And this made sense... as even at max volume levels, and the deepest and most powerful bass laden songs... I was unable to get these speakers to show ANY signs of Distortions. In fact, they had the most Deep, Accurate, and "Musical" Sounding Bass... that Ive ever heard (up to that point). No port Chuffing / Distortions. No "Muddy" sounding Bass. Very punchy and "Excited" levels of Bass response (adjustable, by tweaking the Bass EQ levels). In the End, I decided to just get the drivers Re-Foamed... and they were fantastic... until the foam on the Woox passives themselves, rotted out. Unlike the Woofers, there was no easy repair for the Woox passive units themselves.. as they used back to back passive that have like two expansion rings each (allowing for much greater excursion, than any other standard Passive Radiators). I believe I have seen certain WOOX devices that were made with all Clear Plastic (Rot Proof), but I never got hold of that version. Anyway... I just thought Id mention Easttech... as they seem to be much higher quality than typical Chinese made speakers. Of course, if you want pure "Audiophile Nirvana" ...get brand new drivers from Humanspeakers dot com. Search model " EPI 100v " speakers.. and click on the links to the two listed drivers. The special Tweeters, are Inverted (concave), and produce one of the Widest and 3d Holographic Sound-Stages, that you will likely ever Experience in your life. Furthermore... these speakers sound insane, no matter where you place them... even if they are partially blocked, under a desk...etc. Also, you could be blindfolded, spun around about 10 times... and asked to try to Find the speakers... and FAIL to be able to do so... because the EPIs are so Holographic... that you dont hear the "Driver". Its as if the audio is holographically projected into the 3d space... without you being able to tell where the projected source is coming from. Meaning... its as if the band members are actually IN the room itself, playing Live. Ive never heard a speaker that even comes close to these. very sketchy drivers from Aliexpress.
Should HAVE paid, not should OF paid, very bad grammar but English is not your first language so no big deal.
And you what you want now. We can't all be cousins with Shakespeare.
Why use CAPITALS when you can use *bold?* It just comes across as aggressive.
Should've.
In my country the shipping and import fees when buying from parts express/ other sites based in the US is ridiculous, you often pay more than what you paid for the product just for shipping and import fees for example i bought a 75$ 10" driver and the shipping was nearly 50$ and 20$ import fees
I've been buying drivers off aliexpress since and have had pretty great results for the most part (generally haven't spent more than 50$ on a driver from them but what I've purchased so far definitely has me impressed for the most part)
