There is no doubt that you two make a fantastic match. I have never seen you supervise or give orders to each other around. You are remarkably united in your thoughts, and your work manifests your quality results. Your TH-cam channel has become one of my favorites. I was raised and educated in Vancouver, B.C. I was a commercial pilot and traveled the entire province of British Columbia by air and land. Now at 80 y/o, retire in Arcadia, CA. I will faithfully continue to watch your videos. Keep up the excellent work and humor. You bring me back good memories of Canada. Congratulations on your show.
Man I just wish I could go outside and look up and see mountains ! So much better than looking into your next door neighbors windows and seeing whats for supper. Thanks again for taking the time to film and edit.
Greg if you keep your tables that you use to cut ,plane even and stable you will have much greater success in wood working. If the planer is set right it will pull the material through all by it's self . Then 1/4 to1/2 crank will do. Smaal increments provides smoother sufaces. Hopefully a few helpful ideas from many many years wood working. Have a good and keep up the good work . Love the channel and the scenery.
Drag the old bus entrance over to your workshop, push it up against the sidewall which gives you more workshop space for a couple hours of work. 6 ml vapour barrier makes great temp windows while allowing in lots of light
Hi Katie and Greg. Enjoyed this video and appreciate the effort you put into putting these out for us to see. You two accomplished quite a bit and the second set of stairs turned out very nice. The deck, house and entire property is really coming together and looking nice. You two are a hard working couple and are successfully building the property of your dreams. I also like how you always take the time to give the animals attention and incorporate them into each video. Have a productive week ahead and be safe. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
Yay for stairs…almost!! 😂 Juniper vs. the raven, Nebby vs. the chainsaw, Greg vs. the mill saw blade, the jeep vs. the trees, lmao!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Also, thank you for the beautiful aerial view of the pine trees with the fall Aspen trees, that’s one thing I miss the most about living in the mountains of CO, so beautiful!! 💚💛🥰
@This Off Grid Life, You and your Husband are doing a WONDERFFUL job!!! Long liked#38 and Subscribed!!! Myself and my Wife are going to be building OFF-grid soon as my Wife receives a Job Transfer!!! You and your Husband are such hard workers and deserve a wonderful life!!!
I'm in agreement with the the last commet about the planer, don't try to take too much at one time. It will last longer by taking a little at a time. Looking great!
I've only been watching your channel for about 2 months. I live in West Tennessee in the United States and really appreciate the talent required to do all the projects you've done. I can't wait to see the next episodes.
You shouldn’t push or pull. The infeed and outfeed rollers move the wood at the correct speed for the 3 knives to do their work correctly. By pushing, you can damage the knives and you don’t get a smooth cut. The key is to have the infeed and outfeed rollers good and clean and clean and wax the table. If you have good sharp knives and a clean planer, the workpiece will feed itself easily. I have this same exact planer. I’ve had it for 13 years.
Hi Greg,Katie,& animals. Y’all did some 1st class work on those stairs. The entire deck will be outstanding. Stay safe, healthy, happy, productive,& blessed. Have a great evening,& week.💯❤️😀💜✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
Master crafting everything yourself takes time you have come a long ways. Better together is a great slogan, look how far you two have come together and never forget you wouldn't be where you are today without the other. Katie there could be no greener grass for you than Greg.
So good to see your oldest fur baby outside!! The drone footage of the yellow trees - so beautiful! So sad to see the burned out acres but they will grow back in time! 🎉
Hi Katie, tell Greg that if he were to get a hook wielded to the middle of the tractor bucket, there are a hole lot more things you can get done, when you hook a chain to it. Like putting it around your firer wood ( the tree that is ) and lifting off the ground, so you can cut through all the way and you don't have to bend over so much to cut it. Work smarter, not harder. I also cut a lot of fire wood and I only have a 21 horse tractor. They sell a wood bar that hooks up on your 3 point hitch, it has holes in the bar. I put a trailer ball in the middle hole, the others I put shackles to loop chains through for hooking up logs. That way you can back right up to the butt of the log, chain it and lift the but up of the ground. It drags better that way. For fire wood make or get a small trailer that you can hook to the ball, on the hitch. You can go around and pick up a lot more wood that way. Oh, one more thing, with that hook on the bucket, if you have a tree in a hard place ( like say down over a hill and I have seen you have some ) you can lift the end up and it will pull up a lot easier. Its easier on the tractor that way. I hope that this helps you in anyway, from putting undo stress on your tractor, to helping you, not hurt your and Katie's backs anymore then what's not needed. Take care you two, your body's are only young once.
👋 The stairs are looking good....😊 I love the color of that rooster, he's awesome. Ya'll are kicking it out there, homestead is looking great. Love ya'll ❤
Hi, not only are you cutting to much at a pass but you will also chew up the rollers which are trying to pull the board thru. Looking good keep up the good work.
Just a suggestion, a bit of paint thinner on a rag and wipe the table on your planer. Planing green wood leaves pitch on the table and makes it difficult for the wood to move through.
I miss living at a house with a yard. I think hearing a push Lawn mower is the best sound ever. It makes me remember my younger days living at home helping my mother with yard work...I love hearing a push mower. So don't edit that out... thank you for sharing.
you are protecting the wood on all sides. nice. a lot of sites I see only seem to protect the side(s) you see. keep it up. give yourselves hugs. you have earned it
Oh my gosh this is really looking so fantastic, I am loving the look of it, thanks for sharing and your sweet rooster was so much fun seeing how he loved being held by you. Have a great rest of your day I will really look forward to seeing your next video, this one was so awesome to watch in all of the fabulous things you both do as a great team!😂😉🤗💜💜
Really enjoyed the aerial views this week, easy to see why you guys choose to live out there. I've been watching since you built the foundation for the house and so impressed with how it's all come together, a real Garden of Eden on the side of a mountain. Thanks for sharing.
Deck and stairs are looking great. Greg, why are you pushing the wood through the planer, it has feed roller that advances the wood through the planer. If you are pushing the wood, you have adjusted the cutting depth of the blades too deep, which makes the motor work harder and will soon wear the motor out prematurely. Blades changed/sharpened often if you use the planer a lot.
Hi guys! Watching from Maui, HI. You guys are soo inspirational! I been visiting BC for the past 7 years every winter and I go deep into the great Canadian backcountry! Congrats on all the hard work!
Hey, back off on depth of joiner it will work easier. You should never have to "push or pull". The deck is looking great.
Also; the roller could be gummed up from the pitch.
Planer not jointer and yes back off on the depth

I'm 84 watching from Hawaii.
I agree u both a real team bless up
ver well stated👌
remember, you don't know what goes on behind the scenes.

I have a planer like that, when you have to force the wood through the blades are dull, a new set will make it work like new.
The wood was sappy
@@ThisOffGridLife Then make much smaller cuts I plane cedar and pine all the time and never have to push that hard.

I really like your videos. The happy togetherness you two share is a example for all couples. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes.
So satisfying watching lumber being milled. Great job guys.👍
IMO that logo but larger on the front middle of a T shirt would look great.
I'll buy one of those for a start.
Thumbs up if you agree.
just a hint for your planer, wax the surface of the bed with a hard car wax each time you use it and the wood will slide much nicer,
@This Off Grid Life, You and your Husband are doing a WONDERFFUL job!!! Long liked#38 and Subscribed!!! Myself and my Wife are going to be building OFF-grid soon as my Wife receives a Job Transfer!!! You and your Husband are such hard workers and deserve a wonderful life!!!
Wax the bottom plate of planer with paste wax . Just wipe wax on plate and go to work . Happy Plaining

I really enjoy your vlogs. Great scenery, dogs, chickens. Goats and more . You both work very hard and accomplish so much! Keep pushing!
So good to see your oldest fur baby outside!! The drone footage of the yellow trees - so beautiful! So sad to see the burned out acres but they will grow back in time! 🎉
The deck is looking great! The barn is fantastic…looks like a tiny house!😎👍

Beautiful grained wood, and the finish makes it outstanding! And the finished stair will look great, as promised or foretold!
👋 The stairs are looking good....😊 I love the color of that rooster, he's awesome. Ya'll are kicking it out there, homestead is looking great. Love ya'll ❤
As others have said. Take much smaller bites of the wood when putting it through the planer. Also put wax on the planer bed. Car paint wax works fine.
Hi, not only are you cutting to much at a pass but you will also chew up the rollers which are trying to pull the board thru. Looking good keep up the good work.
I love watching the progress of your property. You guys are great together
All the wood is so beautiful! Love watching y'all!
Try a 1/16 or even less per pass on the planer, especially with the wide boards.
Music A+,Jeep ride sweet. Thanks for sharing.

Hi guys! Watching from Maui, HI. You guys are soo inspirational! I been visiting BC for the past 7 years every winter and I go deep into the great Canadian backcountry! Congrats on all the hard work!
When planing, best results slightly less than 1/16”. Less wear n tear on the planer. Also less drag. HTH
👋 it’s coming together and looking really good 👍🏻
@ 14:00 in this shot the audio is saying "way to go Greg, another fine mess you have gotten me into"
