I would highly recommend you use masks when cutting the cement board siding. You need your lungs for a a good long time.
Silica dust is no joke! Use wet methods (mist) or a fan at least to blow it away from you.
They had masks on. Not when he was cutting the electric box.
They were wearing masks when they ripped the one long piece lengthwise, but not at any other point in the video. This cement board is nothing to mess with.
Silicosis can lead to tuberculosis. Your body has no way to remove silica dust once it’s in your lungs. It irritates the lung. It’s not something you want to deal with
Also please keep the animals away from the dust as well

Katie, regarding your small-town hardware store. I know that no one ever tell folks this anymore, but one of the benefits of a smaller store is that you can usually request stock items. Not to be confused with special order. A lot of times the owners don't update stock because no one suggests it. Same goes for smaller grocery stores.

I have that fiber cement siding on my own home and cabin. You can't beat that product. You'll be happy with it, just take your time installing it.
