    Use a 13mm socket on the first extension and an impact driver to lift it in 3 seconds using that same jack

    So funny I just mentioned this to my wife the other day. No idea how to change a tire on the Gladiator, don't even know where the jack is. Will be watching now. SInce I have fuel wheels the lugs are thinner so I have to see how to fit onto those lugs and remove the center cap.

    Good information. I’ll be looking for a spot to carry 1 or 2 2X6 blocks to try and put under the jack to shorten the distance the jack has to stretch. Watching this I may try & find a screw set up to sorta lock the jack down to the block. I’m -lying with some 2X6 I’m making a divider for the bed decided to go 2X6 instead of 2X4 you chose. Think the 2x4 might be to low and let things spill over the board. Got the board cut and started painting that is going to take awhile with drying times. Don’t think it will look as good as yours but should work.

      @robmotiveplus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds good to me. I thought about a 2x6 as well👍

    I carry a 2 ton compact trolly jack, plus the scissor jack. Oh, remember to have oil in the jack, I learned the hard way.

    Take a look at keeping a power built unijack in the bed of the truck for tripsCheck out a power built unijack- we have AAA roadside but when they say 3 hours to get there I can change a tire in about 15 minutes. A breaker bar with a 22mm socket and the unijack is good for,6,000 lbs, and is also a Jack stand all in one - very safe and more stable on roadsides than that man killing scissor Jack. I just keep it in it’s box when taking road trips in the bed under the tonneau cover.

    Rob I don’t know where our Jack is in the JL LOL!! But I will try to find it, hey at least it’s a scissor jack, but it seems to almost to it’s limit due to your taller tires, hope you never have to use it out in the wild like you say, just carry a small vinyl or plastic tarp with you in case you have to lay on the ground, I carry one of my truck for servicing underneath a combine or tractor in the field, works really well and you’re not getting all dirty👍!!

      Good idea Scott! I need to add that to my list😬

  • @bsandey
    @bsandey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good information that I hope I never need to put to use. But I have change many tires in my life, some in pretty scary situations (along a highway with semi trucks flying by at 70 MPH just a couple feet behind you as you're kneeling at the side removing the tire, for instance).
    Curious, though - Have you tried jacking up the front with the jack 180 degrees so the rods that connect to it come out in the front of the Gladiator instead of the side (or the rear if doing the rear tire)? Just thinking that might be a little easier to do, and less chance of accidently hitting the paint job with the tire iron as you're raising and lower the tire. I haven't looked in my manual yet to see if it says to orient the jack that or not. Something I will be checking out.

    • @robmotiveplus
      @robmotiveplus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scary for sure!!! As for position, I tried to do what the manual recommended. It’s possible it could be oriented differently 🤔

  • @spiritmediumdaniel7161

    and for those who have lifted you jeep, you may want to keep a wood block or two to compensate for the extra distance

  • @submarinecwby
    @submarinecwby 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It also depends on the size tires and lift the stock jack does not lift my 2020 sport with a 2" lift and 35x70x17s plus I have not trusted a scissor jack since one collapse just missing me

    • @robmotiveplus
      @robmotiveplus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So what would you suggest for jacking up a gladiator to do a tire rotation? I have 33.8” tires and a sport max tow that sits high, has a 2.5” level in it as well. I don’t feel like spending a ton on a setup to do a wheel rotation, what do you suggest and how do you suggest I do that?

    • @robmotiveplus
      @robmotiveplus  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d use blocks and the OEM jack or a higher lift floor jack.

      @@robmotiveplus kind of a dumb question but cinder blocks or something to block it up? I just want to do it the proper way, if a couple big logs would do it, I’d do that but just wanna make sure.
