- If you need to lower your Jeep Gladiator spare tire to change a flat do you know how to do it? I thought I knew how to lower the spare on my Gladiator, but I was wrong! It's not terribly difficult, but it's a bit different than other trucks. Watch this video so you're not stumped when you're stranded!

I'm a Mechanical and Biomedical Engineer who doesn't know his way around machinery. I can model and design them, but I have never removed a tire from a car. My father who is a Mechanical Engineer could strip an engine just like that, but I left home at 16 and never learned squat. I was trying to install a lock nut in the Jeep Gladiator High Altitude that I bought yesterday.
The way I remember how to put things back the way they were is by taking lots of pictures before I touch them 😂 😂I had a Professor of Signal Analysis at UNSW - Australia who gave extra points for carefully notating the placement of stuff. You got extra points for taking pictures and making coordinates ha ha ha!!! So brother, take lots of pictures! 😂😂😂 And thank you for your videos!! Very helpful!
The dealers gave me tires that costs like $450 apiece. Since coming to America, I have heard horrible stories of people waking up to find their catalytic converters sawed off. I don't know if they steal tires too, but I'm not taking chances 😂 So they also gave me locking nuts for them. Ended up taking the truck to Tire Kingdom. They did it for free! Nice people! Americans!

If you have different rim with a small hole that won't let that black part go through, You can slot
it and then stick it on the bottom under the rim instead of going through the rim. Works fine.
How did you do this? I bought a spare rim as well as tire and am worried about this and I don’t have my Jeep with me at the moment.
I put my spare back with the valve stem pointing down so I can check the pressure without having to remove it.

Hook is for the eyelid on the scissor jack and also to pull your spare tire away from the truck. I had the same set up on the 2012 caravan.F.C.A design

Thanks brother, was just wondering how to drop the spare and decided to check out your channel, figured you had done a video on this and of course I was not surprised you had. Great content and a big help as always, I had no idea how to drop the spare, had an issue once on an old Jimmy where the tire was stuck underneath and could not drop it so now I know to try this from time to time so it does not get stuck up there with the salt and crap from winter roads up here!!

Thanks for this. I think you saved me some fumbling around. I would have tried to get that hook in there as most other wheel lowering cranks use the hook and I am not sure I would have caught that angled crank entry. Its a simple thing changing a tire usually, but sometimes we can stub ourselves on the small things. Thanks again.

Good stuff, Thanks ! I am glad you did the demo too ! Bought a new 2021 Mojave Gladiator back in January 2021 here in virginia. Didn't know the dealer had allowed someone on staff drive it in the snow & Magnesium chloride and salt sprayed on the roads. Should have suspected something with 74 miles on the ticker. Long story short, brand new Gladiator looks like it went through 7 Michigan winters underneath ! so annoyed and disappointed. First warm days here so getting out the dremel tool and Corrosion X and Rustoleum. Your Gladiator looked great ! Subscribed and Liked. Glad I found you ! Thanks

Most of your Jeep videos are nuts, Like the 7 Must haves or can you lock your keys in. Really a 2x4 in the back, that's your advice? how about the swing away tool box that you can buy for either side, and something to stuff in the seat crack?, Why not the tray that inserts in the passenger dash handle. Guess what some of us didn't get the electric doors, so it's real easy to lock your keys in the jeep. The cold air intake? I guess you won't be driving into high water with it splashing over the hood like we have in our stock Gladiator.

I used the hook to pull the tire out from under the jt then later I use it to pull the cable out to put the tire back. I have arthritis in my back so I thought what I could use it for. Thanks for the video.

Couple weeks ago got a call from a neighbor she was on the way to work had a blowout. F150, for all intents identical to the Jeep, angled insert, has a hook but you don’t use it. Took me awhile to figure that out. Figured it out & got her on to work.
It's always good to be familiar with how yours works just in case you need it. I hadn't seen the angled type before thi video.

Yes familiar is good. The Ford has a hook on installed on one of the rods, but it wasn’t used like in the Tacoma. Couldn’t find a place to put the hook. Read the instructions for the 3rd time closely then saw don’t use the hook. Douh🤦🏻♂️. I’m used to the Tacoma 🤷🏻♂️as you have pointed out use the owners manual.

Has anyone else had trouble with cable dropping? We purchased our 2020 Gladiator with 14,000 miles. The spare was in the bed of truck, not underneath. When I go to drop the cable, it drops about 8 inches but will not go any further, any thoughts or tricks?
Put some weight on it. Bring it up and then lower👍

@@robmotiveplus I wish I could show you, a lug wrench on the highway impaled the tire. A serious ROAD HAZARD 😡. Fixed it in 25mins. I had to find a half a piece of cinder block for it to up a little higher. All set now. #Connecticut 🛣️ roads.
