    Excellent video! I literally just built a 7800x3d and 7900xtx pc yesterday for myself. Old pc was crashing games almost every game so had no time to wait for any “soon to be released” tech. Still dialing it in, but very happy so far. Came from an i7 9700k and 2070 super, which is still pretty good, but an all AMD top spec is way better. Or at this point, the 4080 Super, since NVIDIA dropped the price on that so its $960 to $1,100 depending on which model you get, which is a stone's throw from the $900 to $1,030 that the 7900 XTX still goes for. The 4080 Super is simply the better GPU and would be a better upgrade for a 5800X3D user than a whole system upgrade if they have an older GPU. The reason that I test the way that I do is to isolate the impact of the CPU from the GPU, even when upgrading multiple components at the same time. So if you look at the 1080p/low results they will show you the impact of the CPU because under these conditions the CPU is heavily loaded, likewise when you look at the 4K/ultra results they will show you the impact of the GPU because under these conditions the GPU is heavily loaded.

With respect to the new version of Windows, I'm not sure if you saw the recent video from Hardware Canucks but they uncovered an issue with the new 24H2 version of Windows that was giving misleading results ... Microsoft had for some reason turned off memory integrity by default, which was in turn responsible for most of the large boost in performance. All of the other tech TH-camrs missed it and incorrectly stated that this new version would significantly boost performance for AMD users. The thread director update will improve performance but it will only be about 2%, not the 10% other outlets were saying. You also don't have to wait, just update your current version of Windows.

      @@blackbirdpctech Pretty much something else every month. The biggest would probably be the lack of all the best features. If I'm already going to be spending $1000 on a GPU, I might as well spend a bit more to make sure I have all the best features. At the time I built my current gaming PC, I thought AMD was going to be taking gaming and graphics more seriously, but it never panned out. The only titles they support are big console ports for the most part, and even then they can't work with the developers enough to make sure their features are working correctly. Ratchet and Clank was a big one that made AMD look extremely pathetic to me. They sponsored it, it was a big console port, and at launch their features weren't working while the competition's features were. I've heard from many game studios that AMD won't return their calls or help them integrate their tech in any way, while Nvidia throws tons and tons of money even to small indie devs to make sure their technology is always implemented in the best possible way.
      And that's just the start when it comes to indie studios. I play almost exclusively indie games and indie developers just don't develop or test with AMD hardware. There has been a bug where UE 5.1 games won't run on Radeon cards for like 2 years now, and games still come out built on 5.1 where the only option to play them is to force them to run in DX11 mode. And that doesn't work 100% of the time.
      I used to say the one thing Radeon had on Geforce was Adrenaline, but Adrenaline has been a nightmare for me lately. It's dog slow. Any time I click on a new tab, it takes like 30 seconds to load. I get way too many graphics crashes, and Adrenaline just won't even load a lot of the time. I've ran DDU, ran as administrator, all kinds of stuff. It still keeps happening. I've never had any issues like that with Nvidia, and I also daily drive 2 other PCs with high end Nvidia cards. One with a Ryzen CPU and one with an Intel.
      And when it comes to CPUs, there's a lot of reasons I prefer Intel, even now with the "current problems" because those problems have never been a problem for me because I manually tune all of my hardware. It's been obvious to me that 1.5-1.6 vcore is and has always been way too high. I tried warning people for the last 2 years. Now it's this big revelation, where the largest techtubers act like they don't know what could be going on. And also since I like to tune my hardware myself, I wouldn't want another locked 3D CPU. They are great CPUs for my son who doesn't know how to tune it himself and doesn't want me taking over his computer for hours at a time to tweak and stress test, but I don't mind doing that on my own PCs.
      And lastly when it comes to CPUs, I don't really care if a AAA game gets 180 or 190fps. What I do care about is if an esports game gets 400 or 500 fps, and for the most part I trust Intel to do that better. I've also noticed that with every Ryzen CPU I've ever had, there are slight stutters here and there when running at really high frame rates and you turn really fast. I haven't seen Intel CPUs do that.
      Damn, I really hope you didn't take the time to read all of this, but if you did, thank you. I wish I could have said it in less words, but I feel the need to really explain everything when going against the grain, and since TH-cam is the cult of AMD worshipers, which I once was, I get a lot of people calling me an idiot unless I really explain why I don't like AMD anymore.

If you want to run highly overclocked memory, say 4000 MT/s, then offloading the memory controller by using only 2 dimms would make sense. For DDR5 there is a benefit because the memory controller isn't as robust, so if you run two dimms you will be able to stabilize higher memory speeds. This will likely change over time with the release of newer cpu's because the memory controller will mature. We can already see it with 9000 series cpu's, they can support higher speeds with both 2 and 4 dimm's populated.

      Dlss quality or even balanced help a lot when things get tough.

    *Why I chose my RTX4070...*

What's the point of having a better "value" AMD card if the visuals look worse for titles that support upscaling. The differences aren't always super obvious in TH-cam videos but in person the artifacts that FSR can cause is often very distracting. I have a Ryzen 7 5800X3d paired with an RX 7900 XTX and I can tell you true that my all-AMD rig is TOTALLY worth it! I believe that peak high-end gaming value comes from this combination so I would suggest that you test the R7-5800X3D with the XTX vs. the 7800X3D with the XTX. I think that you'll see that at the higher resolutions that someone with an XTX would be gaming at, the difference is negligible. You would've had the same gaming performance at 4K without having to buy a new motherboard, RAM and CPU. All you needed was to upgrade the 3080 Ti to the XTX. THAT is why so many reviewers have declared the 5800X3D to be the "GTX 1080 Ti of CPUs" (the G.O.A.T.). There's a reason why so many AM4 owners (like myself) haven't bothered moving on up to AM5. I have an X570 motherboard, 64GB of DDR4-3600, an R7-5800X3D and an RX 7900 XTX. I game at 4K and there's no setup that would give an appreciably better experience without paying through the nose for a 4K high-refresh display. I chose size over refresh rate and I game on my 55" 4K 60Hz TV. It is absolutely GLORIOUS!
    I must point out however that having an AIO with ANY X3D CPU is just useless and dumb because X3D chips don't put out much heat and can't be overclocked. My 5800X3D, which puts out more heat than the 7800X3D, is cooled just fine with an AMD Wraith Prism air cooler that cost me (literally) nothing.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I appreciate your passion and comment. I tested the 5800X3D against the 7800X3d (with a 7900 XTX) extensively in my video "5800X3D or 7800X3D - Which One Is Right For You?" While I agree with you that the average FPS at 4K will not be impacted, the 1% lows definitely improved with the 7800X3D, even at 4K. Based on 15 games the 1% lows improved by around 8% at 4K, which is significant. I also disagree with your statement around using AIO's with X3D chips ... the entire thermal solution for this case was designed to use a 280mm AIO in the front. It's not just CPU temps that need to be considered when it comes to PC thermals, you really need to look at how all of your components interact.

      @blackbirdpctech thr latest aaa titles all having issues with amd. All under performing then amd releases drivers that don't fix it. Seems like nvidia is the far better choice for the future of games that are being developed differently now. Taking much more advantage of nvidias technology then others based even on the integral workings of developers and how they are choosing how to design games. Even without ray tracing nvidia is still doing better. Every nee game is practically promoting nvidia hardware and nvidia is doing the same with the games. Wethere its wukong or the new star wars game or the next 4 aaa titles coming lol. So yeah amd doesn't look like the hottest option right now for compatibility and reliability on the actual playability. This coning from someone who makes sure and tests what the best of both have to offer.
      Not a 4090 either. Meaning 4080 super and a 7900xt/xtx. So yeah from my view nvidia is the choice for this upcoming generation of games on the generation of hardware we have right now.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have tested both extensively and while I agree with the fact that AMD takes longer to get their drivers right, I disagree on the fundamental technology. There is no question that Nvidia has an advantage with RT but AMD is rapidly catching up … there is only so much however they can do with software alone … they need their next gen hardware to help accelerate and fully catch up to Nvidia. That said, AMD is competing heavily on cost, so when you look at value that needs to be a large consideration. At equal price I would likely choose Nvidia but typically an equivalent AMD card is $100+ cheaper, so that makes it a much tougher decision. For this video I focused on the question of whether an all AMD gaming pc is worth it and based on the data the answer is yes.
