    Just a note, for x3d variant you really don't want more than 6400mhz ram speed because of it's architecture. in fact a 7000 mhz or 8000mhz may perform slower than the a 6000mhz or 6400mhz

    • @sc9433
      @sc9433 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He is GPU limited, it doesnt matter. Ram speed is irrelevant in a gpu limited scenario, not to mention X3d Cache makes Ram speed even less relevant.
      Tweaking ur ram speed and latency is to speed up CPU performance, but right now he is completely bottlenecked by his GPU.
      Having more CPU speed will not give you more fps in this case, because 9800x3d is just too overpowered for 7900xtx.

      @@sc9433 there is no such thing as too much power for games like factorio. You take every bit of performance as you can get so you can make the base larger. A big factorio base will bring 9800x3d to its knees. Same with sim titles. A 9800x3d cant handle le man sized grids.

    ETA Prime you should warn people not to buy from scalpers because they bought up all of the 9800x3ds and are reselling for almost $700. Yeah people can buy what they want but that just supports scalping and its not really right. If they were selling them for more of a reasonable price it'd be different.

    Yesterday my local Microcenter (Boston) got a drop of like 75 of those 9800x3ds. Couldn't help myself - decided to brave the labyrinth of rush hour Cambridge MA back-streets and buy one in-store. Now just waiting for an AM5 board from amazon. Also, good call on the video card - nVidia Linux drivers are a total mess right now.

    • @BaronCAD
      @BaronCAD หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Good question, @@jvillaro. It was availability - I have a very specific set of constraints. 1) My case is mATX, and fits very nicely on my desk, with a really nice bottom-up fan setup that does a great job on the GPU (much like the build on this video, actually). 2) usb4 ports (I use an external usb4 gen4 nvme enclosure so I can share storage between my dekstop and my laptop). 3) Wired my house for 10gbit network, and make a lot of use of my NAS, so need at least 1 expansion slot for the pcie ethernet card. The only mATX board that meets all those needs is discontinued (rog crosshair gene). So my MacGyver approach is an x670 or x870 ITX board, and hacking in an extra pcie 4.0 x4 slot via m.2->oculink so I can pop in my 10gbit ethernet card. This works because the itx board has 2 m.2 slots, and I only need one for storage. Hoping the single case screw for the ethernet card is enough to securely hold both the network card in place, attached to the oculink host board.

    I have a 7800x3d and 7800xt which suits my needs for now. I like the fact this 9800x3d gives you better cpu performance yet uses less power; they put the V Cache on top rather than underneath the cpu chip die. So I think it is basically like a 7800x3d but with that Vcache on top rather than underneath. I just have a cheap ASUS B650 plus wifi motherboard and you just have to update the bios firmware to use this new cpu; but kind of scared to do it in case the power went out, lol. That is a nice looking motherboard, heard good things about ASRock but hard to find; the ASUS one I have works fine.

    • @jaybee-f9x
      @jaybee-f9x หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Tbh it’s harder to corrupt the bios than people may think, I wouldn’t be afraid to update it if I were you. Have done it multiple times and have had it fail a few times but never have had it brick the motherboard

    • @cybernit3
      @cybernit3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jaybee-f9x Ya, well if I get that new cpu, I will have to do it, just don't want to brick the motherboard. But if there was a power failure while you use the usb to firmware update it would brick it if in the middle; but the chances are slim. I would feel safer if I had a UPS but then they cost money too.

    Is there a reason you were keep changing the resolutions (going from 1140p to 5K back to 144op then to 1400p?
    It is hard to follow where the performance could be.
    People tend to stick to resolution and change the settings more often than to change resolution but keep settings.

    Awesome build overall, from what I've noticed the x3d CPU's are more directed towards high fps 1080p and 1440p systems. When it comes to gaming in 4k the x3d advantage seems to drop off a cliff.
    High refresh rate is important for competitive gaming but not so important when it comes to 4k 60hz. Since I'm getting too old to be competitive I'm more looking to enjoy AAA games on my 4K TV.
    I've tried to enjoy cyberpunk 2077 on my PS4 and I just can't, between the pop in, frame stutters, wonky graphics glitches and horrendous load times Im hoping I can get a better experience with my next build on PC.
    For that reason I'm looking forward to seeing how my next build will do for 4k using a Ryzen 5800X, RX 6800, 32GB CL16 3200, and a 2TB gen 3x4 nvme.
    It's going to be my first itx build going in. Corsair 2000D Flo case, my only point of trepidation is the available air cooler options, I'd rather go air than aio because if an air cooler dies its not likely to take other parts to the grave with it, when an aio goes it's a pretty regular occurrence that something else will get toasted.
    All Total this next build is under 1k and if I can pair up the Ryzen 3700x that's coming with the ROG STRIX x570i which I bought off eBay for around 250 with another set-up maybe I can get this build done for less than 800.
    At that point it's basically the same price as a PS5 pro but with a dedicated CPU, 32GB dedicated ram, and a dedicated 16GB graphics card, also more storage (gen 3x4 but that can be upgraded independently)
    So my goal is to build a console killer for around the same price as a PS5 pro.

    It would be great if you can also include Space Engineers and Icarus in your game testings.

    Since Starfield was released, it still isn't well optimized. This game is just big disappointment and not only in story telling.
    PC looks great. I would build something like that if I would be interested in having some big tower like this on my table:)

    the amd video card slows the whole thing down alot, my rig with 14900k and 4090, example on the steel nomad test your score at 1920x1080 was 69 fps and 6911 score, mine at 4k 8974 and 89 fps if i dropped down to 1080p it would be way higher even, i ran maxed out ultra settings 4k was still better then this rig.
