Good question, @@jvillaro. It was availability - I have a very specific set of constraints. 1) My case is mATX, and fits very nicely on my desk, with a really nice bottom-up fan setup that does a great job on the GPU (much like the build on this video, actually). 2) usb4 ports (I use an external usb4 gen4 nvme enclosure so I can share storage between my dekstop and my laptop). 3) Wired my house for 10gbit network, and make a lot of use of my NAS, so need at least 1 expansion slot for the pcie ethernet card. The only mATX board that meets all those needs is discontinued (rog crosshair gene). So my MacGyver approach is an x670 or x870 ITX board, and hacking in an extra pcie 4.0 x4 slot via m.2->oculink so I can pop in my 10gbit ethernet card. This works because the itx board has 2 m.2 slots, and I only need one for storage. Waiting for the 9950X3D .
460 watts! Hard pass
Computer designs are so fucking boring now. I'll take a beige box with some contours over the same all-black perfectly rectangular prisms over and over again.
Anyone have a old extra pc that can game in 1080p willing to sell to me for cheap. I’m a drone working a job that pays little and haven’t been able to game in years because I’ve barely been able to make ends meet. Anyway let me know if anyone can help
the amd video card slows the whole thing down alot, my rig with 14900k and 4090, example on the steel nomad test your score at 1920x1080 was 69 fps and 6911 score, mine at 4k 8974 and 89 fps if i dropped down to 1080p it would be way higher even, i ran maxed out ultra settings 4k was still better then this rig.
