    Please don’t stop making the X Max videos. I bought mine in December but there doesn’t really seem to be a community for this model of printer. Your channel has been my main resource

      That’s amazing to hear. Thank you. I’ll continue to upgrade/demonstrate abilities of it as long as I have new designs/upgrades, funds and a community who benefit from the videos.

      @@Eitri3D I've followed your X Max octopi tutorial and am in the process of adding the camera. Could you show an angle where we can see exactly where the pi camera is mounted? I'm sure I could figure it out but that would be helpful.

      I have moved the camera around a few times but I have found that front and center provides me the best angles.

    THe beginning looks very familiar :) I also connected the small PI cams to my OctoPi. Added you mount to my collection to print. So far I printed a mount for cneter mounting only which also holds extra LED strips. Not finished yet but I will upload it to thingi as well.

      @@Eitri3D Better maybe not - just different :) bit struggling still with the cable path

    • @Eitri3D
      @Eitri3D  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s why I went with the 2m cable. If you lay the printer in the side and remove the side now facing up you’ll be able route the cable up the corner to get to the top.

      Just so you know I added two smaller mounts to my Thingiverse. The smallest one gives a better view, IMO.

    Hi Mike. I finally got my pi hooked up and running and your first video helped with that. What I am unclear on is exactly how you mounted the camera. I can't see from the picture where to place it in the case. Would it be possible for you to clarify it? I really need to be able to monitor the prints, but most of the camera options don't seem to work well, but yours looks like it may be doable if I can understand it. Not your fault, but my bad. Thanks!

    Thanks for Vids. Very Helpful. I have a question, Anyway you can let me or others know what the dimensions are for the base and ball? I printed one out and it was waaay to small. I know something went wrong and I can't find any dimensions anywhere on this. I haven't received the cam in mail to measure the thing yet but there"s no way its this small. It's 1"x3/4" on ball base and ball is 3/8" Does this sound correct to you? If so then my apologies. Thanks for all you do. Peace

    Since the intro of your video could be me (...), I'm looking for a camera for my X-Plus as well.
    This video was made about a year ago.
    Did you upgrade you Pi cam yet? Or would it indeed be better to use a webcam for the wider view?
    Using the USB port doesn't bother me since I'm going to use the Pi only for this. Any advice is appreciated
    Happy New Year btw 🙂

      Happy New Year to you too. I have it upgraded my camera but if I was to upgrade it I would go with the same camera but with a fisheye lens. That way I know the size and mounts will be the same.

    Hey Mike, thanks for these videos, I'm in search of how to do a PID tune without a Pi or octoprint installed. I just did the Chad Mod with a Slice Mosquito and I'm not sure how to do this. Any guidance? Thanks

    • @Eitri3D
      @Eitri3D  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In order to do this, you’ll need a way of capturing the return communication from the printer. I have heard there is a few slivers that do this, but I unfortunately haven’t figured that out yet.

      @@Eitri3D to get responses from printer all you need is a lan or wifi connection to it and a PC with Linux for using netcat in UDP mode

    • @Eitri3D
      @Eitri3D  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you been able to do this with Qidi printers? I unfortunately don’t have Linux running, but I know other who have been trying to do this (maybe not they way you’re explaining) and haven’t been successful yet. You may have cracked the code. Thank you.

    • @abbawabba
      @abbawabba 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Eitri3D Yes, I was successful with that. The terminal command should be something like this echo "G1 X10" | nc -w 1 -u 192.168.1.100 3000. I think you can use your Raspberry Pi as a linux system. There is also netcat for windows, but I never tried it.

    • @Eitri3D
      @Eitri3D  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can see all communications with Octoprint, so no need to use the Pi as a separate terminal. Thank you for this information. I have to see if I can test it out. Cheers!

    I just order and waiting for my Qidi X-Plus and been looking around for camera ideas. I really would like to use a USB camera and for this and was thinking about taking apart a Logitech 310 and then printing a smaller custom case for it..have you given this any thought?

    • @Eitri3D
      @Eitri3D  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, a lot of people use webcams. I just use the PiCam so I do not take up a USB port on my Pi since it connects using a ribbon cable.

    • @OZtwo
      @OZtwo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Eitri3D yeah I took apart a 310 today and found I can build a custom mount for it which should fit in the printer well. 7.7 thick by 60 wide. I do have a few PI cameras as well yet want to connect to the pc for the videos. (have a Jetson Nano and buying printer for that project)

    A waste of time, self-indulging, "look what I can do now", fluff video. It would've been helpful if you would show the actual install, because this has little to no value, to the user. Instead of "Adding a Pi Camera...", it should be titled "I added a Pi Camera...", becaudse you don't actually show the addition of the camera.
