    Love to see an in depth look at how the nozzles raise and lower. Looking to pull inspiration for the machine I am working on

  • @Anyone700

    That goop around the ruby nozzle looks like it is related to how they got the ruby to stay into the nozzle. Anything else is I could come up with is conjecture. Likely not resin or anything like that. No plastic/resin I know of stands 300C

      I would agree with you, but it does look sloppy. I could also have expectations that are higher than reality. It just caught me off guard and that was my initial reaction. I still have not hooked it up and tried it, probably should.

    I would like to know if self leveling is possible. Let's get that upgrade next now that they upgraded filament run out. Keep checking the problem areas off the lists. Thanks for the honest review.

      My next video I’m taking the I-Fast apart and getting a good look at the guts. There are only a few upgrades left on my checklist and self-leveling is one of them. Hopefully I will be able to answer/check off a few of the things we are all hoping for.

    Still no allmetal hotend for thhis printer?

    • @Eitri3D

      Supposedly Qidi has made one, but I have yet to get my hands on it.

  • @Keveira

    Thanks for the review, I really appreciate it, you explained some things I was wondering. I'm not sure why QIDI doesn't explain some features like the chamber being able to be set to a certain temperature and the max temperature it can go to (I wonder if it's because of the patent, but it should be expired now).

      Thank you for the comment. We tried to be detailed but still keep to the basics. Once I tear it open, I’ll be able to get into the hotend, leveling, and who knows what other surprises maybe hidden. You would think for that price you’d want to advertise all of the features that set you apart from your competitors. It’s a bold strategy, only time will tell if it will work.

    Coming from a diy builder, IDEX is only good for mirror printing and faster duplication/production. If you want single high quality parts using PVA supports , this is it. Advantages over my IDEX dual 300c 120c rig? Controlled Heated enclosure . Period-Not a tent that can just trap heat, potentially causing electronics malfunction. Cons: no wire brushes to wipe between each layer requiring a prime tower/ooze shield unless highly tuned. Speaking with RnD department and they said they might develop a set to send us.

    • @Eitri3D
      @Eitri3D  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have to say I was impressed with using PVA in this machine with only using the Qidi Print PVA settings. I’m editing the video and should have it out in a couple of days.
      The brush idea is a great idea. I’m not sure how they could create/design a functioning one that wouldn’t interfere but that is why I’m on this end of the videos and not the other. Lol. If you have a concert/idea that needs a proof of concept test, let us know and we will help any way we can.

      @@Eitri3D yes! wire brush mounts save tons of time and filament at the same time you get a flawless looking print with virtually no post processing. I’m going to keep pressing it with them...I did however got them to send me a custom dual all metal titanium hotend 300c extruder with harden steel nozzles... however I may drop my tungsten nozzle set in, 90% of my prints are abrasive filaments, and tungsten is the hardest metal, and surprisingly 2nds to copper in conductivity . The Ruby nozzles in my experience clog , with the carbon fiber filaments , because the crystal used is not conductive. It’s a crystal mixed with a red dye, none are made of actual gem Ruby’s.

    • @Eitri3D

      Once I tear this one apart I’ll be looking into upgrading to all metal hotends, unless they already are. I’ll see once I get in there. I did it on my x-max and have zero regrets. I have to say, I’m not sure what I’d need dual all-metal hotends for at this time, but I’m sure I will find a way to put them to good use. That’s awesome you got them to send you those. How is the quality, because I haven’t seen an all-metal hotend from Qidi yet. I’ve seen brushes before on non-enclosed printers, so how it would work on this enclosed one is the intriguing factor.

    • @luckeypolishing

      @@Eitri3D it would have to be designed and printed with PLA to clip on to the extruder frame ends, then protrude down where it can house the wire brush’s . The custom extruder is a day away in the mail, I complained because their ad was misleading and thought we could print abrasives at 300c with pva supports... The stock dual extruder has ptfe tubing maxing 250c w/ brass nozzles, which I’ll put back on for low temp prints. Nylon/PC carbon fiber is what I mainly use by 3Dxtech with their nano adhesive which is insane for high temp sticking. I was planning to upgrade this beast to print CF pekk/ultem, possibly pure peek. I mean my custom print platform is coated with PEI, tells you how hot you need to print aerospace composites.

      @mverick160 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@luckeypolishing That's a nice setup. I'd love to have it where it would do pure Peek. How has the printer worked out with 3dxtech. I was planning on using Carbonx HTN+CF. But if it could get to Peek I'd love it. Especially at a decent price.

    Another great video - thank you! That “ruby” might be a ruby chip that they epoxy into the nozzle end?

      @@Eitri3D is there much control over the pva support structure density in the slicer software? Is it possible to download the slicing software so I can take a look before I buy this printer? Thanks.

    • @Eitri3D
      @Eitri3D  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you actually can adjust all setting for the PVA and you can download the Qidi Slicer. Go to Qidi website and the software tab. Download for either Mac or PC. Your virus software may still try to prevent download, but it’s the actual program. Inside there you can make adjustments. I also have a Qidi walkthrough video that you could follow along with to help learn the software before you buy. I hope that help.

    Thank you for the review.
    Do you know if the dual extruders are able to extrude at the advertised temperature of 300°C or if that's only for the single extruder?
    Also is it possible to attach the ruby nozzle to the dual extruder?
    Considering purchasing this machine and specifications seem a bit short on some points.
    Hope you are able to help,
    Kind regards,
    Allan

      I own one... The high temperature printhead has the ruby nozzle. And it's a different head compared to the dual printhead. To sum it up:
      - you don't want to switch the ruby nozzle from the high temperature hotend to the dual extruder printhead.
      - the dual printhead is not able to print such high temperatures.
      - it was never mentioned that the dual printhead could print high temperature prints.
