You are preaching to the choir as most people would agree with you. Unfortunately, to cut costs pretty much all manufacturers are removing physical controls. I can't tell you how many times I nearly wrecked messing with RAM's uConnect screen. It is by far the worst piece of software I have ever used and that includes iTunes.
i dont think it has to do with cost saving. tesla literally added a screen for the back seat. i am very sure its more expensive to implement a screen than a few buttons. especially when its about saving money, no way youre gonna add a screen for the rear row - wheres the value? in the case of tesla, pretty sure its a design decision. they want to keep everything super tidy and get rid of everything that is not ALWAYS important to the driver. physical buttons are against their design philosophy. being a product designer myself, I can see why they do it even just for aesthetic reasons.
I have a 2024 Ioniq 6 SE RWD, and the regen breaking setting never changes for me when i have it on max setting until i go into reverse. It's weird how it does for you, but the random beeping when you're not moving at all happens to me too, which i find annoying but so far, I love the car. I charge at a 350kw Electrify America charger, and in 15 - 18 minutes, im set for the rest of the week. It chargers faster than any tesla at the moment. Looks is subjective. I have people who love the way the car looks, and I've been told how they dont like the way the car looks. It's an eye catcher for sure.
Yeah really. Cars like this give an option for people who want an electric car but still one that doesn’t feel like an “iPhone car” as I’ve heard some people call them. You still feel like you’re in control of the car and it’s systems etc.
@@rqlkwhen you drive a Tesla you’re still in control. It’s a car. I got to borrow a family members model 3 for a few days and I got used to it in 5 minutes. 5 minutes.
@@rylans.5365you don’t get it. People don’t want a “iphone car” where there’s no physical buttons, the dash replaced with nothing but a big tablet screen. It doesn’t feel like you’re in control of the car in a Tesla.
@@REXae86 it does, you’re in control, you’re driving. You’re not fumbling around the touchscreen while driving. Climate control can be bumped up or down with voice command and wipers are auto so basically I got in and started driving and it wasn’t as distracting as you might think. Look it’s not for everyone but it’s also not hard to understand or use. Keep in mind this is also my grandpas car who is 66 years old and he loves it and got used to the model 3 quickly only had it for about a month. Tesla is also best selling vehicle worldwide (model Y). There are other options though I’m not saying people gotta go out and get a Tesla.
As an Ioniq 6 driver I can say for myself that I don't want to miss any of my buttons and paddles, my roof window that can be opened, my Matrix-LEDs, my display behind the SW, surround view or my HUD. The car looks very nice in the metal imo and many ppl thought that it's a Porsche which is a compliment in my eyes, isn't it? 😊) . It polarizes very much and either you like it or you don't. I see the Model3 soooo often and I got so bored seeing it (after I loved it at first and almost bought it) I absolutely understand that ppl buy the M3 and love it but for me(!) there are too many things missing.
I think the Model 3 is a very generic-looking sedan. I don't think the Ioniq 6 is a beautiful car, but it also isn't a sinfully ugly compliance EV either. I think it's attractive in an acquired taste kind of way with interesting lines and a certain level of efficiency type of way. I think the largest complaint would be the dual tail section spoilers.
I have been driving the Ioniq 6 for four months, and I agree with many of the things you said. The Ipedle coming and going was a pain, however after doing some research when the car is in Auto mode it is more efficient, and the level of regen breaking does not change on you. It has been a while since I took classes in ergonomics, but for this old guy, the buttons are vastly more efficient than using the center screen. I do like that it has SiriusXM radio living in rural WI cell service is not always available streaming with the phone is not a good option. I do wish that the headlights were better, although they are vastly better than I had on the Accord this car replaced. My biggest beef with this car is the lane keep asset that I can not shut off, driving in snow or on unpainted roads it can be like driving a car with Tourette's syndrome, but maybe all cars with lane keep are all that way. I can't wait until the Tesla supercharges are open to this car, for road-tripping, but even when they are it will not be as easy in this part of the country as it is in CA. Another big win for this car is service is here in town and not a six-hour round trip away.
Overall a great review Ryan. I was curious about your thoughts since I'm the former owner of a 2023 IONIQ 6 SEL RWD and the current owner of a 2024 IONIQ 6 Limited AWD (definitely a welcome upgrade though precipitated by a careless driver rather than a random choice). I found your review of the pros and cons touched on some of the points I've made myself and pretty fair with the obvious biases that come from our individual vehicle preferences. For example, I *prefer* the physical buttons (including the start button) over the *virtual* on-screen buttons that Tesla and some other EV OEMs like to use. I also like being able to direct the air vents manually among other things that Tesla uses the screen for. Your comment about not being able to see the cameras while you're driving is not Hyundai-specific. Tesla is pretty much the ONLY OEM that allows cameras while driving. I love when you said "you have options"...and that's exactly what I want. Tesla (like Apple) *forces* you into doing it the way THEY think is best. Some things you mentioned like the blind spot cameras are included in the Limited trim, and while I agree that those safety-minded features should be included in lower trims, Tesla's use of the screen for normal things that should be buttons also is a safety hazard because it takes your eyes off the road. So, overall, I think you did a good job in the review, but it is definitely a review of someone that prefers Tesla and their way of thinking...and that means you aren't really seeing everything as objectively as someone who doesn't have that bias. I do appreciate that you took the time to do the review though so thank you.
Tesla has a different phylosphy. They focus on autonomus driving and built their vehicle that way. So buttons and even steering whell is not necessary for them but we "conventional" drivers do not think the same.
Hyundai and Kia front sensors do randomly trigger when behind GM products. I don't know why; but it just is. I think it relates to GM's rear sensors interacting with the Hyundai/Kia ones.
I test drove one about a month ago and I was set on it, but being a first time EV owner I thought the charging network may not be there for me, even though I must prefer the aesthetics of the ioniq 6 over other EVs. I ended up getting a Tesla Model Y. I know, I know…. Totally different, but I got such a good deal on my Y, and the large amount of storage in the frunk and under the floor in the trunk, plus the vast network of chargers throughout the nation, that the Y was the more logical choice. I still prefer the looks of the Ioniq 6 (I know that’s gonna trigger some Tesla fans, and I’ma new Tesla owner myself!)
I have yet to meet a Tesla owner who ended up changing to another make of EV. It's like the Apple user interface, once you try it nothing else comes close.
Nice review and I think you were reasonably fair. Most things that you like better on the 3 are the same things I dislike about all models of Tesla. I don't like that virtually everything is on a clunky looking 15" iPad that looks like an after thought. I like having some buttons and I can't imagine anyone having an easy time signaling a lane change in a round-about with the control on the steering wheel, perhaps 180 degrees from where it is when you're driving in a straight line. The driver will have to find it, and think, and then press it in the opposite direction from the direction they intend to steer. Not intuitive at all. Next you more or less breezed over the driver assist features that cost an additional $6,000 in the model 3. Finally, the range on the Tesla is known to be deceptively optimistic and not accurate.
Yeah...I can tell you're a Tesla owner. Seems like nothing is wrong with the Tesla. Me? The interior was futuristic when it first launched. We never seen anything so modern and clean. 10+ years later, it has become dated. To me, it's just lazy. Let's not even try. Let's put everything into a huge Ipad. Whoopey. Tesla to me looks cheap on the inside. All the plastic around. The leather seats don't even feel like leather. But hey.....you do you.
It is good to see competition to the Model 3, as it pressures Tesla. Tesla would be wise to so slow down on removing things to reduce the cost of the car and spend more time with adding great improvements and features.
I would call that incremental. I own a Tesla but also read reviews on other EVs. It's clear that some EV makers look closely at Teslas and improve on some features. They follow some Tesla user groups to hear gripes, or should. Tesla appears to listen to owners too. I like the enhancements received in the last 2 years but think more could have been done.
I was going to buy a Tesla but my partner hated it because it has no buttons. Another turn off was Tesla's range is reported higher than they actually get. Personally, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 looks better than the Tesla. If Hyundai would come with the NACS charging port I would certainly buy one before the Tesla.
Soon adaptors will be available NACS charging stations. I do almost all of my charging at home. Super charging should only be used when you're away from home and you don't have time to wait for level 2 charging.
I give you credit for being as fair as possible in your review of the car. The Ioniq 6 is a good car and very quirky. Your evaluation was spot on especially when talking about safety features . I have been a very longtime subscriber and I thank you for always being so honest and consistent.
Main reason why I'd go for the Ioniq 6 over the Model 3 is the build quality. Even though Tesla definitely stepped up their build quality with the Highland refresh, I'm not sure how it will hold up over time. Teslas rattle like a bus at higher mileages and they feel extremely cheap as a result. While Hyundais are definitely not the best with build quality, I'm sure they'll be miles ahead of Tesla. It looks like objectively, you're not losing much other than the fact that the Model 3 comes with more features and has cooler tech.
Ionic 6 is proved to be an even better option (slightly) than model 3 on range/cost from the resent NAF test in Norway . 467km/530k NOK contra 441km/533k NOK on Tesla . Measured now in March . However there are more that goes to it than range . These two however trones the top two of lots of bigger brands 👍
Start/Stop buttons are good. Keys also. Come on bro. So many horror stories of Tesla cars locking users out, and then there's no backup. You can add new keyless features, but NEVER get rid of what's worked for 100+ years. Common sense.
I love having a Start/Stop button, because while I wanted an EV, I still wanted a *car.* I like having a car that's electric not just an electric car such as a Tesla that makes the driver dependent on things actually working. My Friends model 3 on several occasions didn't unlock when he approached it and he had to dig his phone out of this pocket and unlock it because the phone had gone to sleep. same thing on leaving. didn't always lock.
Leasing one right now makes a lot of sense to me. Ionic 6 twenty four month lease here in California is just $223 a month if you own a competitor brand. Lease for 2 years and have no care about how the tech changes because you can walk away and into whatever advancements have been made.
One thing that you didn't cover and many car reviews don't cover - the absolute crap of the charging pre-conditioning on long trips. If you're using Google or Apple for navigation, they cannot interact with the car's systems to let the car know when it is time to start battery pre-conditioning for charging. What this results in is this - About 50ish miles before you reach the charging station, you have to go back into your in-car navigation and put in the parameters for the said charging station so the battery can start pre-conditioning - this causes a whole load of other issues. The battery pre-conditioning uses some power, often in cooler and colder weather, a significant amount of power, which causes you to loose range. And if the charging station is in the reach when you're down to 5% battery remaining, a very real chance of being stranded, I've been stranded on a turo rented F-150 lightning, because of this very issue. Fortunately, another lightning stopped and topped me up from its bed with something like 25-30 miles of range, which was enough to reach the charger at 50mph. I like the Ioniq6 SE and its range, but not close to ~50k which it is after taxes and everything in Texas and without the Federal credit and no access to Tesla SC network yet, not even an adapter available. I will buy one of these - but I am happy to wait for the Tesla plug to be inbuilt, the car being eligible for federal tax credit limit, and it being able to charge on the Tesla network - I have friends in the North-East who live closer to the tesla magicdock stations in there, and are very happy with the nearly 100% successful charging that they've done.
Absolutely agree - charging networks should be integrated and companies should be pressured to follow a standardized format that no one can profit off of, similar to USB C charging and Apple being forced by EU to adapt.
@@emilymckeon5983 I thought the NACS was adopted by the majority of automakers in North America now, but it will still take some time for this to take effect on already built infrastructure and for the plugs to standardize.
Ryan, I have a 2022 Ioniq 5 SEL AWD model and the issue you had at 16:33 with the front parking sensors happens to me all the time when I am in a drive-thru or sitting at a light with a car in front of me. My dealer has acknowledged the issue but still has no fix or attempted to diagnose because they "Don't see any trouble codes". I hope Hyundai fixes a lot of their crappy software with the new models. I would have bought a Model Y but I am waiting for the refresh and I wish Tesla would adopt the V2L functionality. I use it often. Thanks for the great videos!
I like the design. I passed on the tesla because 1) I live in LA and literally everyone has one - it's become like owning a Honda - if you're buying a car for cool points, in LA you get zero with a Tesla. You never go anywhere and someone says "cool car". and 2) the outer design is BORING. I actually bought a body kit and mods to jazz it up - then never got it - lol - figured if I had to do that much work to like the way the car looked, then I actually didn't like the car. 3) I hated only having an iPad to control everything in the Tesla. If you ever have driven one, you'll know you're constantly looking to the right on the iPad to monitor things instead of at the road. There's a reason the higher end versions have a traditional dash display. I ended up getting an BMW X5 hybrid and every time I pass one of the zillion tesla's out here, I know I made the right choice.
Had a 2023 Elantra before getting the model Y just a few weeks ago. I loved my Elantra. Hyundai makes a great car, and I was definitely looking at the IONIQ 5/6. Imo Tesla outclasses it in many different ways, some of the biggest being charging infrastructure and amount of features for the price. Happy with my choice to get the Y.
Great review! Nice to hear a Tesla owner's perspective on an apparently good EV. Although, as a Tesla owner who enjoys detailing my ride, all those extra bits and parts on the exterior of the Ionic 6 would drive me crazy..
Hi ryan I have the ioniq 6 for almost a year now and i am having the same ghost alerts on the sensors… Also the two things starting to annoy me alot is the windows control on the center console and.. that you do not have a room for even a small water bottle on the door bin! P.s: at least I discovered that you have a mode that you can make the car go faster than in sport mode
With regard to bringing up the cameras while driving, Hyundai products disable that feature over 10 MPH. However, you do get the blind spot view in the gauge cluster when you signal a turn.
@@cheesun124 It's actually so bad. He didn't name one upside compared to the tesla model 3. When the ride quality is better, he says "the ride quality is very smooth" but when the car has no moon roof he says "but compared to the model 3 which has a moon roof, this car is lacking"
I have a previous gen Model 3 and I have to say, they lost me as a repeat customer when they removed the stalks from the steering column. I know you can "get used to it" but it's silly to have to do that. I'm pretty stoked about the Aptera anyway, I hope they can bring it to market! 😀
17:44 - I don’t know about the Ioniq 6 in particular, but I liked one thing about Hyundai’s auto-steer on a Santa Fe we rented several years ago, over Tesla’s auto-steer on highways. The underlying concept of Tesla’s system seems to be that with you are steering or the car is. If you ever override it, the system kicks out and you have re-engage it. Why? Under the Hyundai system I drove a while back, you and the car are both driving the car all the time. If there is any disagreement, the driver always wins of course, but there’s no pointless “mode switch,” of either you’re steering or the car is steering, as if pretending that the auto-steering system were some sort of primitive self-driving system. When I recently rented a Model 3, there were several cases where auto-steering disengaged when I corrected it, and I’d failed to notice that it had disengaged.
I appreciate this information, because the Ioniq was a car I considered before I got my Model Y. I am glad I got the Tesla. I would miss the driver specific stored settings for seats, mirrors and controls. The lack of storage in the Hyundai is also a big minus. Considering the features in the Tesla that are standard, like the glass roof, phone interface, and autopilot, I think I made the right decision.
Keep in mind the purpose of the big screen in the Tesla was to save money. Cheap screens vs physical buttons Elon was brilliant in putting every kid's favorite toy iPad in the car but an obvious fail when it comes to safe driving. Tesla will likely bring back physical buttons soon to improve safety and keep up with the Koreans. The beautiful Araya suffers from the same Game Boy dash.
The i6 actually has quite a bit more storage than the model 3 if you bring the seats down. Basically they moved the entire car forward to give the rear and front passengers more space at the cost of a frunk and some trunk space. But that means that there's a lot of free room in the cabin of the car. In my opinion having physical AC controls is better to the screen, since passengers only need to make one physical movement to adjust airflow, while on a model 3 they need to configure the airflow requirements each time on a screen. This can be distracting and difficult, especially when the screen has to be first navigated to ac controls before being used. It's unfortunate that passengers have to pause a movie or game to adjust the AC of their car if they want to. Also, the reason the car doesn't have turn signal cameras on the base edition is because they're simply not there. The car relies more of radar, which is why you get the alerts without physical cameras.
You got your new model 3 and I would love to hear if all the products like the 3D floor mats still fit. I have seen nothing on accessories for the new model 3 and mine was ordered day one but I'm still 1-2 weeks out from delivery. I would like to buy them but when you contact those from your like they say they can't guarantee they will fit.
i have this car. i don’t have a tesla but the hyundai app is pretty basic. you can start the car and cabin. you can unlock and lock doors and look at your information. overall it’s helpful as i’ve forgot to lock my doors and i got a notification from the app promoting me to lock doors remotely.
No glass room blah dark blahh Complaining for sake of complaining, you say that the gauge is not customizable, yet Tesla has none, also lack of buttons is not a minus, if that all in one tesla gimmick screen goes dark you have no usable car lol Why you would want to stare at the screen looking at back camera during driving? It's a safety hazard ffs Fact is Hyundai is on a roll with amazing cars, and it's great to see cars not gimmick toy cars aka Tesla.
Saves wiring and makes the doors simpler- I am getting used to the center placement. So easy to drive the Ioniq 6 and the steering wheel controls are excellent.
Coming from a M3 to my now I6 I can say I've yet to have a "phantom breaking" event on my road trips. *edit* OMG yes the alerts at stop lights is aging me quickly
Fair and honest review, My current car is a Model Y long range dual motor. Have borrowed the Hyundai Ioniq 6 for the last 2 weeks. I agree with most of your observations. Ultimately I Wouldn't swap the Model Y for it. Hyundai Nice comfortable car, like looks, but too many buttons and warning beeps. The Tesla just works, simple to drive and easy to live with.
Yeah, that price is hard to beat. Tesla needs to get it's $25,000 car out to the market or BYD is gonna take the whole low end of the market. BYD is not joke anymore. Competitors need to start taking them seriously.
@@Ryan-ff2dbsadly that 25K Tesla will end up being more like 35K knowing Elon’s promise track record. Still pretty affordable but hopefully BYD will keep them honest
@@MahomeboyMyGOAT I have a feeling it will be closer to 25k this time. Primarily because BYD will keep them honest. The model 3 already sells for 38k now and they make about 6 to 7k per car. A smaller cheaper version could sell profitably for 25,000, especially as batteries continue to fall in price.
To get the camera to come on when your driving forward you have to go into setting to allow this to happen….thats what I did…the same goes for regen breaking go into settings and tick or untick boxes for the kind of regen breaking you want….thats what I did with my Ioniq 6….although this guy gives a good honest test for the Ioniq 6, you have to remember that he is a Tesla lover and owner, so he not going to say everything is better that his Tesla, as far as the take off power in sports mode, at traffic lights this car can leave any petrol or diesel car standing, including an Audi A6….I’ve had my Ioniq 6 for 4 months now, and it take a little bit of testing different driving styles to get the best from your electric car, Eco mode might not be the best for you style of driving, I drove in standard mode for 58 miles at between 50 and 60 miles per hour but only use 44 miles of range, so 14 mile regenerative breaking, that pretty good going…..
Just think - if Tesla had a start/stop button - all the stories about runaway tesla would be on the driver's fault since one could kill the car with that button. It's just another unnecessary safety feather which costs a few bucks extra to build in. I have people who own tesla and have never used the front trunk. The sun roof is not a plus to all people. Ioniq 6 truck has some issues - for example you would have troubles getting a stroller in the trunk since the entrance is narrow. Good effort for the design - but a few major issues which makes it undesirable to some. Getting NACS should increase Hyundai's market share.
After driving the Ioniq 6, and 2023 Model 3, the Ioniq 6 is for you if you want a more luxurious look and feel. the interior is more upscale. In black, on 20's, the Ioniq 6 looks like a $80k car. You are giving up performance. It is about 1 second slower than any comparable Tesla No one is buying the Ioniq 6, so if you want a great deal, and know where you can charge it, go for it
Some people are buying the Ioniq 6! Replaced our Ioniq5 with the Ioniq 6 and really like the looks and streamlining. Fast charging is great if Electrify America can keep their chargers up and active.
Outstanding review! What made it great for me is you compared each aspect, side by side of both vehicles. I don’t like all the buttons and window switches on console. Given the choice, stalks on wheel are easier to use. Biggest weakness of Ionic is its GPS. When paying this much money for a car, I shouldn’t have to use my phone for directions. And, while on a road trip I must use the car’s GPS or won’t get battery preconditioning. Apple CarPlay does not initiate preconditioning.
The Tesla Model 3's user interface is much simpler to use and far more intuitive. I also don't like the slumped look of the Ionic 6. Also Tesla's GPS is far better than Apple Car Play or Google Maps. It is based on Google Maps, but Tesla has improved it. It appears to be inferior in many key parameters to the Model 3. It's slower, less advanced, not as smart, has only comparable range and costs more. I don't get why people would buy this over a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y. This is especially true for the Model Y which has the $7,500 government rebate right now, which takes $7,500 right off of the price.
Tesla does NOT get 341 miles of range. And charging now off of Teslas grid, is not a pain as you make it out to be. Ive driven to Florida and WV from Atlanta GA and it was simply perfect. And I never needed a tesla charger. My options were near perfect. And with my Bz4x and my EV6 GT line. Both which I drove long distance (WV and Florida) there wasnt any issues. None. So the thought that the problem with charging on 3rd party. Is and antiquated thought and understanding of where the charging market is outside of tesla.
Personally I like the design. Hyundai makes great EV's, although news of an Ionic 5 requiring a new battery replacement due to the car hitting a small piece of wood, from a local dealer here in Vancouver BC Canada completely dropping the ball and are now back pedalling...for the mistakes they made....The Ioniq 5 won awards world wide. At 191.6 inches the 6 is a big car, too big for me.
Lovely design, but not very functional unless you are a long-distance driver who travels light. How many people are those these days? And then, if you are a long-distance driver, then you get to fight with the lame CCS charging network until they move to NACS. So the seats are probably more comfy than Model 3 for some, but so is a gently used Lexus hybrid. If you drive more around the city, would prefer the Kia EV6 - wayyyy more functional and still > 250 miles real range.
On my Ioniq 6 I can use the rear view camera whilst driving no issues, so not sure why it didn't for you in this instance. The infotainment maps is indeed super garbage and honestly unusable (unless sending destination via the app), which sucks considering I really like the heads up display and now sits on my 'must haves'. It's a marmite look for sure, but even having owned the car since May, people still take photos of it when it is parked and I am driving which is wild to me!
But it’s built like a cartoon whale. I think I actually want to like how my car looks and that’s what stopping me from getting this. I’m stuck at Tesla because BYOD is not allowed in America yet.
the buttons and plastic leather is the reason why a Tesla will never be on my list.... Also elons political views counts for a lot.... Also the Hyundai is beautiful
The reviews are always with the limited. Do one with nothing. I have this one. It’s not good. Just basic and charging is problematic. It was not my choice 😊
In the end hyundai 6 wins hands down Plus 100000 warranty plus tesla poorly built and no service available in most major cities. I will buy one 6 hyundai next year

I see the Model3 soooo often and I got so bored seeing it (after I loved it at first and almost bought it)
I absolutely understand that ppl buy the M3 and love it but for me(!) there are too many things missing.
oof what an insult to porsche haha
@@joeengel7823 or it's just about the brand logo that ppl like or dislike the design bcs of it.
My car driving in Auto full regen for months was about 3.3m/kwh I have tried level 3 for about 3 weeks and it's been 4.1.
Also hold down the bottom for lane centering and lane keep will go off.
I thought it comes with an adapter where you can actually use. The Tesla superchargers are ready right now.
Lol that's kinda funny
I was in a very similar situation and ended up getting the Y for very similar reasons. Happy with my choice.
I have yet to meet a Tesla owner who ended up changing to another make of EV. It's like the Apple user interface, once you try it nothing else comes close.
Best choice!
@@inediblenutI switched my Tesla model 3 to this
@@XeqtrM1 And happy with the change? I'm seriously considering also getting rid of my Model 3 and getting an Ioniq 6
One thing I LOVE about IONIQ is the paddles. I don’t actually use the brakes. I set it to zero regen when at speed then raise the level to slow down.
i like it better than a model 3
That would be the Highland…but yes, all companies need some competition to drive improved value to customer.
Tesla always removes things, no matter what.
well, that is a choice. I hope they stop.
The 361 mile range on the SE RWD and the V2L are great.
My Friends model 3 on several occasions didn't unlock when he approached it and he had to dig his phone out of this pocket and unlock it because the phone had gone to sleep. same thing on leaving. didn't always lock.
this is a really good looking car. i like its looks
Leasing one right now makes a lot of sense to me. Ionic 6 twenty four month lease here in California is just $223 a month if you own a competitor brand. Lease for 2 years and have no care about how the tech changes because you can walk away and into whatever advancements have been made.
I have test driven the Ioniq 6, and if you can find a place to charge it
(It will join Tesla's network in a year or so) it is a fine EV
And it charges fast, much faster curve from 10 - 80 than Tesla
Hyundai became better everyday
Limited trim is quite different vehicle. Has active blind spot for 1 example.
@@emilymckeon5983 I thought the NACS was adopted by the majority of automakers in North America now, but it will still take some time for this to take effect on already built infrastructure and for the plugs to standardize.
i have this car and love it. the things you said about the sensors going off is true tho. it can be kinda annoying 😂besides that i love this thing
You're the exact target market for a beemer.
Funny, when I test drived the Y I was told you cant bring up the rear camera while driving, does it depend on the model?
How does this compare to the Hyundai Elantra hybrid?
Hi ryan
I have the ioniq 6 for almost a year now and i am having the same ghost alerts on the sensors…
Also the two things starting to annoy me alot is the windows control on the center console and.. that you do not have a room for even a small water bottle on the door bin!
P.s: at least I discovered that you have a mode that you can make the car go faster than in sport mode
With regard to bringing up the cameras while driving, Hyundai products disable that feature over 10 MPH. However, you do get the blind spot view in the gauge cluster when you signal a turn.
And you get a front camera, this guy is so biased, he missed so many up sides to the ionic

13:45 I think the window control in the middle is awesome. I often want to control rear windows for our dogs from the passenger seat, but I can't.
So a smooth Ride with those large wheels?
I appreciate this information, because the Ioniq was a car I considered before I got my Model Y. I am glad I got the Tesla. I would miss the driver specific stored settings for seats, mirrors and controls. The lack of storage in the Hyundai is also a big minus. Considering the features in the Tesla that are standard, like the glass roof, phone interface, and autopilot, I think I made the right decision.
Some of us who live in the warmer states don't want a glass roof. I ruled out the Model Y for that reason and I don't like everything on one screen.
Can you keep it for a long time if you want to? Can you work on it if you want to?
13:44 - I imagine they moved the window buttons to give the front-seat passenger equal access.
There are too many tesla on the road. It's good to see more different good cars..
The area recorded is awesome! Live there
How is the highway self driving features at this trim?
I don't understand the "looks weird" meme for this vehicle; the Edsel and Cybertruck, yes.
How's the App compared to the Tesla App?
i have this car. i don’t have a tesla but the hyundai app is pretty basic. you can start the car and cabin. you can unlock and lock doors and look at your information. overall it’s helpful as i’ve forgot to lock my doors and i got a notification from the app promoting me to lock doors remotely.
The placement of the window switches is a cost-cutting measure.
By placing them in the middle, less wiring is required.
Less wiring and one fewer switch. But it also frees up space and design options on the door card.
Saves wiring and makes the doors simpler- I am getting used to the center placement. So easy to drive the Ioniq 6 and the steering wheel controls are excellent.
I like the center control console on the Ioniq 6. The controls are easily accessible.
How does this make sense? You need the same length to now go to the window motor lmao
Coming from a M3 to my now I6 I can say I've yet to have a "phantom breaking" event on my road trips. *edit* OMG yes the alerts at stop lights is aging me quickly
australia its over $70,000 for the hyundai ioniq 6 thats not fair , hyundai should make it more affordable

In Australia the BYD Seal is a much stronger competitor to the model-3 and A$20k cheaper for the 85kwh battery compared to the Model-3 long range.

What are you doing in Ontario Ranch
This car looks like a soap bar container in the shower.
Looks wayyyy better than the model 3
you clearly forget about the bmw i4
8:25 the fact that you complain about pressing a single button says it all
Just think - if Tesla had a start/stop button - all the stories about runaway tesla would be on the driver's fault since one could kill the car with that button.
It is about 1 second slower than any comparable Tesla
No one is buying the Ioniq 6, so if you want a great deal, and know where you can charge it, go for it
Some people are buying the Ioniq 6!
341 miles ? yeah right dont bias
Nice review Ryan! Tesla has me SO spolied - "less is more"! Way too many buttons on the Ioniq 6! TY😎
Lmk when I can avoid highways with the tesla gps
Tesla does NOT get 341 miles of range. And charging now off of Teslas grid, is not a pain as you make it out to be. Ive driven to Florida and WV from Atlanta GA and it was simply perfect. And I never needed a tesla charger. My options were near perfect. And with my Bz4x and my EV6 GT line. Both which I drove long distance (WV and Florida) there wasnt any issues. None. So the thought that the problem with charging on 3rd party. Is and antiquated thought and understanding of where the charging market is outside of tesla.
lol nice try
Personally I like the design. Hyundai makes great EV's, although news of an Ionic 5 requiring a new battery replacement due to the car hitting a small piece of wood, from a local dealer here in Vancouver BC Canada completely dropping the ball and are now back pedalling...for the mistakes they made....The Ioniq 5 won awards world wide. At 191.6 inches the 6 is a big car, too big for me.
This just sounds like a lot of effort. I just want one function in the drive.
i can lease a ioniq 6 sel for 238 a month fpr 24 months
Bro I can't even lease my Toyota Camry 2025 for that much good luck with that
heh... the thought of Hyundai as "legacy" auto maker... was it 1990 they started up?
Good review. Thanks 🙏
plz don’t look at the camera when driving. for other people’s safety.
So this is the guy that’s pushing for all the buttons to be removed from our cars. I’ve never spoke to someone who was actually for the change.
The 90's called.

The SE Ioniq 6 is base and doesn’t have any features.
So we all agree this thing is nowhere near the value of a Tesla, right?
But it’s built like a cartoon whale. I think I actually want to like how my car looks and that’s what stopping me from getting this. I’m stuck at Tesla because BYOD is not allowed in America yet.
the buttons and plastic leather is the reason why a Tesla will never be on my list.... Also elons political views counts for a lot.... Also the Hyundai is beautiful
The reviews are always with the limited. Do one with nothing. I have this one. It’s not good. Just basic and charging is problematic. It was not my choice 😊

and no service available in most major cities. I will buy one 6 hyundai next year
17:34 those amber lights (are they DRL's?) are awful. Too "chunky", needs a slimmer amber light design IMO.
About regen levels, you seem to forget the auto (adaptive regen) with five levels and three levels of braking strengths.
