Just a quick note to endorse Corbin‘s review as spot on, and my basis for saying that is I have an exact same model (except mine’s silver) on the same lease. My only quibble with the review is that Corbin dedicated just one sentence to a “pro” that deserves a whole paragraph: This car is a road beast!! I would choose the SE RWD again on that quality alone. It’s great for highway trips with long range, quick DC charging, quiet & comfortable cabin and excellent stablity. That combination is golden for long trips. On the “con” side, I have even more quibbles than Corbin about little minor things. But they are so unimportant compared to the fundamental performance and value of the car that I’m not gonna even mention them.
I took delivery of my Ioniq 6 SE with 18” wheels and AWD two weeks ago - it’s almost impossible to get the RWD extended range model. Very few are allocated. You have to be lucky to catch one “in transit.” My dealer gave me a discount off MSRP to consider AWD - not a bad option to have here in MA. The smaller wheels are key in giving you well over 300 miles of range in ECO and NORMAL. In those modes, you are usually only using the rear motors.SPORT engages the front motors, and you can feel a big difference immediately. I agree with all your positive comments. What I like best: this car hugs the road, wet or dry, like nothing I’ve ever driven. It’s great fun on MA’s twisty local roads. Only disappointment: mediocre sound system. Love your videos! UPDATE: getting 350 miles of range consistently with Normal mode!😮
I have a 24 Ioniq 6 limited AWD since January. I do love mine. The look, the material, the tech, and the remote features. The Bluelink is fantastic. But…the door materials are cheap and easily to scuff up, small trunk, Bose sound isn’t great at all and I wish the key fob was sturdier. I like that it’s light. But man do I really have to push down those buttons. I give the car an 8/10 which is still solid. Oh and that reflection. I was just thinking about that 2 days ago. It is a bit more reflection than I’ve had before. Wonder why that is.
If you're comparing your Bose sound to a Benz.. ok. But my 6 has got plenty of tone and thump for me. Beats my Charger 392's Alpine system, which is also a really solid audio system.
It seems the move would be to buy the limited trim, & then buy the smaller wheels (either from dealer or aftermarket) for range & comfort. Why doesn’t Hyundai offer the 18” wheels on the limited trim?!?
@@pauljuntunen3451 in Finland they do (possible to option smaller wheels in with the highest trim) - not sure why stateside resellers do not allow that.
I wonder whether better wheel covers for the 20” wheels could be supplied by an aftermarket vendor to bring the limited trim’s range a little bit higher. Maybe 3D scanning the 18” wheel covers and building an extended diameter model to fit the rims would work, and then making the product from molds.
I have the Ioniq 6 SE AWD with 18 inch wheels. I live in NW NJ which is a zone 4-5 climate. I have put 32000 miles on it in 16 months-April 2023-August 2024. The computer says I am averaging 4.8 miles per kwh. After 12 months (only one summer) it was 4.7 miles per kwh. I drive mostly in eco mode (RWD) so the range is close to what I would get in the RWD model. With the 77 kwh battery that means 4.7X77= 361 miles range. I drive reasonably-62-65 mph on highways and use the great seat heaters most of the time instead of blasting the cabin heat. I have had no issues with it-charging mostly at home at 24 Amps. I occasionally use fast DC Charging and again it was fine. This is a fantastic car-highly recommend.
I have the same Ioniq 6 RWD base-model here in Australia, in the same Ultimate Red colour. We have had it for 13 months and done a good deal of distance in it, now up to 22,000km after a some road-trips including two towing a Jayco camper-trailer, most recently a 5,500km trip. We love travelling in the car, it is SO quiet and comfortable. One thing that the Aussie model has is a bigger 'froot' than yours. I carry a 'Type 2 to Type 2' charge cable and the tyre repair kit there. Also I learned from experience to carry the jump-start /tyre-pump combo battery there. One day I found the key-fob would not work. I used the mechanical key to open but the car would not start - flat 12V. The jumps-start kit was in the boot, which would not open (no power). Had to call road-side service to get it started. Turns out I had most likely left the internal light on and this drained the 12V. I now leave the jump-start kit in the 'froot' as it is a much easier mechanical release. A couple of things about the Aussie RWD base-model - it comes with the same electric-adjustable and memory front seats as the higher models, the same BOSE sound system, interior ambient-lighting, bio-leather upholstery, and floor carpet.
This car is very nice but my question to you is, how did you settle for this trim? I have the 23 Sel IoinQ 5 and every so often I get in my feels about not getting the top trim but it doesn't last long because the SEL is no slouch. You know you are a top trim guy and you got this for 2 solid years. You'll survive but it's likely to sting a bit. :)
Just got over the one year hump with my Limited AWD i6 and have loved it. Got the LinerX mats for the New England winters and they held up really well. Only issues I have with it is the amount of updates that require going to the dealership to complete and for some reason the taillight strip on top and the middle of the trunk have de laminated/cracked. Luckily my dealer is replacing it under warranty. Other than those minor things, I love this car and how cheap it is to fuel up.
No issues with my 12V battery either, after 15 months. Maybe I’m lucky so far! And I’ve never had water or mold in the cabin air filter. I recently replaced that filter, and I discovered that a mouse had torn it into little shreds to make a cozy nest! I hadn’t particularly noticed reduced airflow, but after I replaced it, the ventilation clearly blows a lot better.
I look at the lower front ‘bumper’ on that car and expect that the tiniest impact from a curb or snow bank would result in thousands of dollars of damage.
I looked hard at the 6 when I upgraded from the old Ioniq - there is something completely right in making EVs low and efficient and the old Ioniq from 2016 is still more efficient than ANY EV out there today!! There is one thing that prevents me from ever driving the 6 and that's the sedan format, I can not live with a sedan without that wonderful big tailgate. I wish they would revive the old Ioniq one day keeping the small car size, the tailgate and the insane efficiency and adding a 50 kwh battery. I bought a Niro EV instead and I am loving everything about it, maybe except the efficiency.
We’ve had a base model Ioniq 5 AWD for two and a half years. We have yet to regret not getting the higher cost trims. It’s easy to not miss something you never had.
I am just over three months with my SE AWD 6. It's at 6,200 miles now. Your review was consistent with my experience. This has become our road trip car even though it is not equipped like our AWD LTD 5 (but I really miss the heads up display!). The range at highway speed is amazing. My only complaint is that my right knee rests on the center console which I find uncomfortable after a while.
About the auto dimming rearview mirror, you can swap out an OEM Kia/Hyundai HomeLink auto-dimming mirror pretty easily and it will look fully OEM. I upgraded the rearview mirror in my Grandpa's EV6 Wind to one with HomeLink and it was super easy. I'll have another for sale here pretty soon.
I was actually told the other day that my Comma 3X will work with the SE if using Sunny Pilot and I need a specific wiring harness. I’m going to order it and try to verify before I say anything about it truly working
I was at 5k miles by the time I got to 3 months 😂 I love the Ioniq 6 as my daily driver. 1st EV and Hyundai. If you put the sunvisor down, it blocks the silver reflection. They need to make a black rubber bumper
Living in the uk… I’m finding it hard to find a reliable review on this car… and honestly haven’t seen many on the road… however the reviews and comments I’ve experienced is a positive one to say the least!!! So I’ve ordered one am my next company car, unfortunately I’ve got to wait till the end of January 2025… I hope I’m not going to be disappointed😂 thank you for the insight!
I have an Ioniq 6 SEL AWD. Keyfob is hideous. If they had gone with a sturdier black material, it wouldn't be so bad. I'm so glad you pointed out the silver trim reflection on the interior windshield. It's like the Hyundai design engineers never thought to drive the car in sunlight (or they just didn't care). Other than those 2 things, the Ioniq 6 is a fantastic "sporty" sedan.
+1 on silver trim reflection. It’s really bad. My only real complaint. Would be so awesome if someone invented a black trim cover for it or something to prevent reflection.
@@jasonwhitley8605 I did that on an aftermarket GPS in my work van, it had silver trim which caused an annoying reflection but a black marker fixed it.
Looking at picking up this model which is selling brand new for $30k a few cities over. Just a bit of trepidation about charging since I live in an apartment in a smaller city, though I’m not opposed to paying a bit extra for the fast charging. Love hearing your experiences and I’m seriously considering it!
I'm guessing the I-pedal is weaker in the RWD version given only one motor used for regen. I feel that i-pedal slows fairly quickly in the AWD I have; use it all the time in the city
I don’t know where you came up with the 376 mile range. Based on your history of 4.1 miles/ kilowatt hour over 1146 miles you would get about 303 miles on a full charge. Which is about what what I get on my ioniq5 all-wheel-drive in mixed driving. But you’re definitely doing better at high-speed highway driving than my car does. Thanks for another one of your typically good reviews. You do a fantastic job and you’re very helpful. One question what happened to the results of your reliability survey that you were taking a while back? If you posted it, I haven’t caught it yet.
That’s based on the last week of driving, not the past 1200 miles. We’re mostly driving under 45 mph these days so the range estimation is higher due to that. The results are coming. I haven’t had time to make that video and it’ll likely be a few more weeks as I’m about to move
I tried to get in on this deal here in New York and I was told none of those cars were available in the whole of Northeast !!!! They wanted to show me a higher spec model I guess but I just don't understand how come there is a lease offer and half of the country doesn't have it ???
Thanks for your review. Nut I have a question ...for your next video.... Why do you use white backgtound on the screens. I find that to much light in my eyes compared to the black background (I drive the ioniq 5 from 2021) Next: That reflecting line from the top of those screens would drive me craxy.. (My ioniq 5 has a black interieur specially choden to reduce reflections as much as possible)
There is no real coasting. Rear motor is always connected and generating (or pulling) energy. So don‘t worry about regen levels, just drive the way you like. With one exemption. I-Pedal uses both motors in EGMP AWD cars, which is a pity. So don‘t use i-Pedal in AWD cars.
Yeh I don't see how no regen can be more efficient than using regen no matter what type of driving. Sure, maybe on a flat road "coasting" to a stop at an intersection from the speed limit (if you could time it that perfectly and be bothered to wait that long) you'd lose less energy than driving normally and using just regen to stop the car. But nobody drives like that or lives in a flat world. In the real world cars not using regen have to waste energy on the brakes to slow or stop. Cars with regen recover most of that energy. And if you have blended braking (regen assisted brakes) you're not going to recover any more (and probably less) than simply using a regen drive setting.
Someone at work (I clean rental cars) didn't like the egg key fob until I turned it sideways and showed them the Hyunai logo and then they were like WHOAAA
I thought your dash showed 4.7 m/kwh but i checked again it was 4.1. Is that hard to accomplish in the Ioniq 6? I hit 4.2 on my Ioniq 5 yesterday. Took a picture I couldn’t believe it.
I’m confused about the model trim level you have. You say it’s RWD only, but my understanding is that the “frunk tray” is deeper for that trim level because there’s no forward motor drive. Other reviews show a deeper bin, basically. Can you clarify because the choice here is interesting to me before I buy.
@@TheIoniqGuy Got it. I found that the review I saw was in the EU so it makes sense. Someone speculated it had to do with NHTSA regulations regarding inside hatch escape latches. PS sorry for the late reply; my TH-cam notifications are very muted for some reason.
I haven't heard of that happening but if there was a power surge and you don't have a whole home surge protector the internals could likely get fried in that event.
What seems odd to me is that steering wheel buttons are on the opposite side of the Ioniq 5. Weird. Dunno why. I'd be pushing wrong buttons switching between the two cars!
It was a hassle at first and it still catches me up on occasion but I've gotten used to it for the most part. All Hyundai/Kia vehicles going forward have adopted the Ioniq 6 layout at this point. They really needed to standardize it.
I kinda laughed a bit at the "this would be a great spot for a HUD", since that's exactly where mine is :p I still don't understand why you guys don't get the HUD option.
@@Damadchef it's a kid safety regulation. If it's above a certain size, manufacturers have to add an internal latch so that kids can't get stuck in it.
Haven’t driven my AWD SE in snow yet, but it grips the road superbly in wet and dry conditions in all modes. Love driving it on twisty back roads here in MA! You’ll feel rough surface roads but it’s stable, not bouncy.
Hey everyone. This car seems like a great option. One question... Is it suitable to carry a couple of small dogs? I think the answer is no, but would love anyone with experience to confirm either way. Thanks
Telling lease price doesn’t really help me - what is the term of this lease, what interest rate? Much better just to show full car price - it is way more informative
You have rear wheel drive only and the small frunk?!?! Why? Here the rear wheel drive version has a huge frunk and the AWD has the small one because the engine is there.
@@TheIoniqGuy The Hyundai dealer who sold me the car told me that, but admitted that he wasn't confident. Since the car already does Bluetooth, it isn't too much of a stretch to think they could do it with an update.

I have watched alot of EV reviews. Although I am still unsatisfied on the question of "How efficient is the thermal management of EVs?" As we all know the number one enemy of EV batteries is "HEAT". All videos I have watched regarding battery thermal management, their main highlight is cold temperature effecting range and the like. How about countries with tropical or hot climate areas? We also want to know the other side of the coin. Comparing it to "gaming PC's". We want to know the exact data/numbers of the temperature, to know whether or not the preferred battery temperature is being maintained or not. Since the correlation of heat and battery degradation is stronger in high temperatures. The topic regarding with battery thermal management in tropical/hot climate/summer time is not being tackled much or just being ignored. I hope you make a new video regarding the efficiency of thermal management in hot weather. Thanks!
You said it's a rear wheel drive model but the smaller frunk is on the all wheel drive model because of the motor up front. The rear wheel drive should have a bigger frunk. I own a real wheel drive and I have the bigger frunk, granted mine is european trim so I wonder if that is an american trim thing, which makes no sense really. Why would they not fit the bigger frunk if there was no motor in the front? My guess is that your car is actually an awd.
Nice car, but I would take new model 3 over this, to get that range and performance in Hyundai you have to spend over $53k, you can get model 3 performance for this. The cheaper versions aren't good, in my opinion
You BETTER NOT have any 12v issues at 4 months. You should have any for 3 years. If you do, then Hyundai failed miserably. My 2017 Chevy Bolt 12V battery lasted 5.5 years. It was replaced before a long winter trip just to be safe.

@@manuelkong3611 Truth spoken here!
That red is just gorgeous. Why does it pop as a bright red in all the videos but then look a little duller in real life?
Someone at work (I clean rental cars) didn't like the egg key fob until I turned it sideways and showed them the Hyunai logo and then they were like WHOAAA
I thought your dash showed 4.7 m/kwh but i checked again it was 4.1. Is that hard to accomplish in the Ioniq 6? I hit 4.2 on my Ioniq 5 yesterday. Took a picture I couldn’t believe it.
The dashboard reflection drives me crazy
Did you set the regen to max in the settings?
That windshield reflection is kind of a problem. Hmm.
Because of the trunk, it's not for me.... I hope they( Hyundai ) like the classic Ioniq, make a hatchback or a station! Please 🙏 consider 🎉!
I’m confused about the model trim level you have. You say it’s RWD only, but my understanding is that the “frunk tray” is deeper for that trim level because there’s no forward motor drive. Other reviews show a deeper bin, basically. Can you clarify because the choice here is interesting to me before I buy.
RWD in US doesn’t get the larger front trunk
@@TheIoniqGuy Got it. I found that the review I saw was in the EU so it makes sense. Someone speculated it had to do with NHTSA regulations regarding inside hatch escape latches.
PS sorry for the late reply; my TH-cam notifications are very muted for some reason.
Edit: nvm, bummer you can't use the Comma 3X. That thing is amazing.
That plastic cover comes off the emeregency key all the time as well
We have a hardwired level 2 chargepoint home flex and it died after a power outage durin last weeks storm. have you heard of that happening before?
I haven't heard of that happening but if there was a power surge and you don't have a whole home surge protector the internals could likely get fried in that event.
What seems odd to me is that steering wheel buttons are on the opposite side of the Ioniq 5. Weird. Dunno why. I'd be pushing wrong buttons switching between the two cars!
It was a hassle at first and it still catches me up on occasion but I've gotten used to it for the most part. All Hyundai/Kia vehicles going forward have adopted the Ioniq 6 layout at this point. They really needed to standardize it.
What's a comma 3x?
An advanced level two driving device
Wearing polarized sunglasses will help reduce the reflection of the dash on the windshield.
I kinda laughed a bit at the "this would be a great spot for a HUD", since that's exactly where mine is :p I still don't understand why you guys don't get the HUD option.
This has got to be one of the best looking cars out now. Just so much calls back to cars from years ago
Hideous
Why do the American rwd versions still have the small frunk?
It would need a mechanism to be opened from the inside, if it were bigger.
@@svengaefgen5909 do you mean like auto opening like a electric boot?
@@Damadchef it's a kid safety regulation. If it's above a certain size, manufacturers have to add an internal latch so that kids can't get stuck in it.

I test drove three of these and found that it vibrated at lower speeds. Is that normal?
NO
Like the color. Choices on Ionic 5 (other than "N") are dull or ugly.
I live in ct. is it good in snow and dirt roads
I can’t speak from experience because I haven’t driven it in either of those situations
Haven’t driven my AWD SE in snow yet, but it grips the road superbly in wet and dry conditions in all modes. Love driving it on twisty back roads here in MA! You’ll feel rough surface roads but it’s stable, not bouncy.
I got the same car in the same color!
3:06 - Wait a sec.. my 24 Ioniq 6 SEL didn't come with a cargo net. 🤨
Hey everyone. This car seems like a great option. One question... Is it suitable to carry a couple of small dogs? I think the answer is no, but would love anyone with experience to confirm either way. Thanks
Telling lease price doesn’t really help me - what is the term of this lease, what interest rate?
Much better just to show full car price - it is way more informative
that 109m/kwh xD bro just rolled down a hill in neutral with the windows down
Drop by anytime, and I'll get that scratch out.
6:00 Your key fob. The key is inside my key fob on the Ioniq6 so just put that extra key in your Safe.
At those lease prices Hyundai is virtually giving the cars away in the USA. They must be losing huge amounts of $ per car.
Not so interested in a discussions of the shortcomings of a SE model. It has tons of shortcomings, because it isn’t a Limited.
why not? the competition is things like a polestar 2 or a model 3 which are well equipped at their base trim.
You have rear wheel drive only and the small frunk?!?! Why? Here the rear wheel drive version has a huge frunk and the AWD has the small one because the engine is there.
@@FHB71 US Regulations state larger frunks require a latch to open from the inside
@@invisible1785 I seriously doubt, that a cat would be able to open the frunk.

Thanks. But when are we going to get the upgrade that adds wireless Android Auto? Was that a hoax?
That will only be possible with the new entertainment system that comes with the facelift in 25.
@@svengaefgen5909 So it was a hoax, according to you. What's your source?
It was never stated by any official source that any of these cars will be getting it via update. All of that has been pure speculation.

Thanks!
Reflections (day and night), sucks.
I just dont like the way the back end looks. Reminds me of a dog hunched over to go poop.
US regulations require an escape button based on volume and Hyundai apparently didn’t want to integrate one so RWD has a small front trunk here
@@TheIoniqGuy Thanks for the info. So shame on Hyundai really for not even trying.

A rear window wiper on a Ioniq 6, would be insane!
Such shallow scratches most likely could be just polished away
Nice car, but I would take new model 3 over this, to get that range and performance in Hyundai you have to spend over $53k, you can get model 3 performance for this. The cheaper versions aren't good, in my opinion

You BETTER NOT have any 12v issues at 4 months. You should have any for 3 years. If you do, then Hyundai failed miserably.
My 2017 Chevy Bolt 12V battery lasted 5.5 years. It was replaced before a long winter trip just to be safe.
