Excellent explanation of a difficult to grasp concept. I would like to add that part of the reason we usually don't think that the "real" world is a product of consciousness is because we rely heavily on our physical senses.

In the early 90s I found a book, the Holographic Universe, by Michael Talbot. In one of the chapters, one theologic scientist suggested that consciousness creates matter. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense.
Listened to this a few times. Starting to understand it. So the matter around us, we /you are saying that this is the wrong way to see reality? be interesting to have you discuss the theory that we are in a simulation. And agree that everything is made of consciousness, or awareness, or what we might crudely say is "god", but I sometimes sense objects without consciousness still knowing themselves in some inexplicable way. For example, not only sound just sounding, but itself "aware" of sounding, and so on. Or am I just picking up the inherent nature of everything being awareness? Comment? TA
I would recommend listening to Rudolph Steiner's ( died in 1925) or read his numerous books to begin to understand that the Universe and man are spititual in nature and that the Universe itself is governed by very different spiritual beings
Thank you, Rupert! It makes a lot of sense to me, but if I perceive you, Rupert, are you too an object in Consciousness for me? And when you perceive me, am I also an object in Consciousness for you too? So, we are both subjects and objects in Consciousness? When I say "for me" and "for you", do I mean finite minds or One Consciousness? Or all this just a dream or imagination in the mind of Brahman?
Trying to differentiate our language around this subject. Can consciousness be termed consciousness. And our nature of consciousness be termed awareness? This could help to define our individual limited perception of consciousness. We are subject to consciousness, a product of... Thoughts arise from consciousness and are brought into our awareness? The table arises from consciousness, we define it as what ever we want because we are not consciousness itself, we are of consciousness but we are only aware?
@Dean Mitchell mmm I'm not saying a table can see but it is of consciousness and not because we can see it. Eh tricky one aye, it's all consciousness but I think our language traps us into a state of seperation because we don't have different terms for our awareness and the universal consciousness. Namely that consciousness can be used to describe our awareness and so it then can't be used to refer to the universal consciousness. Just trying to differentiate terms and waffling in while I do it haha
Haha sure ok, conscious and consciousness are already taken, pretty much means to be aware. My bad. I guess that's where the word god comes in but that word has been so corrupted over the years, too personified. Maybe scious or scence I don't know, grasping at straws haha A word will come about someday, when it's needed but until then we'll deal with the ambiguity.
My belief is that the table does have consciousness of a particular kind (so I agree with this). (I wrote this comment before listening to the entire video. HAHA!) This exists in its molecules ... it's vibrational existence. This results in a cooperation that holds it together in the shape it assumes. This vibrational quality of consciousness is aware of its existence but nothing more. And this is only the case because it is energetic ... or "excited" ... vibration. This is not separate from us but more of a cooperative action (that's difficult to explain ).
I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but If you really listen to this man he makes perfect sense, but like me there are to many blunt knives in the planet, and that’s why this simple thing will never be resolved.
Let's imagine the table is consciousness. Then current physics and physical law as the relations between things and energy is still applicable. So whether you call a quark conciousness or material: the science is the same. Materialistic science is still true It's just the question if you want to be able to understand and explain the human inner experience as observer with the structure we are made of, or not. And we are not sure even if we can, so until that is settled this position can still be held. Psychologically it is still always an interesting position, and can be helpful for some. However the fact I can operate surgery on your brain and influence your experience, doesn't look good for this position
@Dean Mitchell I mean that the environment within and by which I have been generated is as conscious and alive as I can be as well as more so on scales that I cannot as yet perceive.

Let's imagine the table is consciousness. Then current physics and physical law as the relations between things and energy is still applicable. So whether you call a quark conciousness or material: the science is the same. Materialistic science is still true
It's just the question if you want to be able to understand and explain the human inner experience as observer with the structure we are made of, or not. And we are not sure even if we can, so until that is settled this position can still be held. Psychologically it is still always an interesting position, and can be helpful for some. However the fact I can operate surgery on your brain and influence your experience, doesn't look good for this position
@Nobody Home did you watch the video? I'm replying to that
I have long suspected that there are people who do not know that the "world" is conscious and alive....this seems tto be one of them...
@Dean Mitchell I guess we live in different worlds...
@Dean Mitchell I mean that the environment within and by which I have been generated is as conscious and alive as I can be as well as more so on scales that I cannot as yet perceive.
@Dean Mitchell I am talking about the environment within and by which I have been generated being as conscious and alive as I can be as well as more so on scales that I cannot as yet perceive not about any philosophy
@Dean Mitchell I do not perceive the world as a collection of "things"...
@Dean Mitchell Expression of recognition of the existence of people who have not as yet perceived the "world" as being conscious and alive.
I have experienced a complete other “ totally real “ world that seemed as real as this world that i experienced within my own conciseness . So I feel I have proven this to be completely true …
I will never support materialism....sadly our entire foundation rests on materialism. I want no part of it. This is why I never pursued a degree in physics. I refuse to endorse the staus quo.
Paul Selig's books teach this concept. A shared field created by consciousness.
A " table " is an idea in our minds
