The internet has made information readily available for the majority of the world.
It has destabilized mainstream media brainwashing of the masses.
People can decide which information they want to hear.
We can hear opposing views. According to Adyashanti (another nondual teacher) he has seen more people wake up recently than ever before in history. A Buddha used to be rare, once a century type person, nowadays there are thousands and thousands of living people that have already come to the realisation of their true nature.
The future may be a utopia. Pessimistic outlooks usually draw the most attention but due to tech improvements, the abundance of resources on earth, more people enlightening themselves by choosing which information to consume, I think the future looks good.
However, I mean this in no disrespectful way. The stupidity of the masses never ceases to amaze us.

      The only thing that is appearing to stop you from enlightenment/self-realization/eternal life/knowing yourself to be unconditional love is identification with thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions and experiences instead of being aware of being aware and knowing yourself to be that unconditional love pure consciousness in which all thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions and experiences appear but are not inherently one with you; they are an expression of unconditional love; you are that infinite that is expressing itself as suffering/pleasure but inherently you are neither; you are that nothing/unconditional love/pure consciousness in which they are appear and by which they are perceived;
Suffering/pleasure comes and goes; there is an awareness that is aware of them coming and going; that you are; remember and know what you are; never identify with anything that is appearing within you; since it appears within you; it can't be you; you are that in which it appears. When you abide as that in which it appears instead of identifying; nothing has a grip on you; if anything comes; it quickly goes; like clouds passing; only if you identify as a cloud then it will appear as if the cloud is here for longer than it is originally supposed to; if you simply rest as the awareness and do not identify; it will quickly dissolve; be unconditional love by being aware of being aware; this is the highest; this is what you are seeking in absolutely everything else; you are seeking yourself; you are seeking unconditional love; but you are looking outside of yourself; instead of being aware that you already are unconditional love. Love love

I love the language Rupert chooses. So well thought through and accurate.
I grew up in the Jewish tradition and a lot of his language mirrors the terms I'm familiar with. Saying that awareness is "clothed" in a "separate self", for example. The Hebrew texts refer to the light and knowledge of God "dressing" itself ("levushin") in the "vessels" of physicality. Etc. Just so many parallels between their language and the non-duality terminology. Truth is truth. Whatever way we get there. 🙌💙🙏

Absolutely great knowledge. Master said the suffering is nothing but a pull from the infinite mind to the finite and all the practices what a separate self does is nothing.I could be wrong but what I thought at that point is- that pull maybe a process which may take sometime to complete. And the person also experiences desirelessness and all sort of spiritual feelings which happens for sometime (months and years) before the final understanding. With those feelings arising and feelings participating, an individual can’t do anything other than trying to do something related to spiritual world. He/she must do some actions in order to live. Maybe he starts doing yoga, change in lifestyle, reading and watching spiritual books and contents, contemplating and many other things just to help himself. Those activities are maybe a manifestation of this grand process.I am happy to have remarks to this comment. Appreciate you all great souls. May all get liberated with full understanding.

If someone of a certain race or gender asked themselves how can I be more kind and loving? How can I soften hearts and lead others to a state of fairness love and acceptance of all peoples? That would be coming from Life. It’s 100% coming from the ego to ask how we can battle the patriarchy and systematic race-ism. Rupert was being kind in repeating that the questioner needed to reflect on the source of the question. He already knew where it was originating from.

I will put it simply :self awareness is a splitter of one reality into I and reality. Into dualism. Reality is not dualism. Just oneness. There is just 1 reality. When you drop self awareness what is left oneness it means real reality. Spiritual training means removing the splitter or as he said the filter. Simply as it is.

I wonder what would happen if someone with torrets or someone who is autistic becomes aware that they are infinite awarness. Would it drastically improve the symptoms of their disability or even dissolve the disability completely? Autistic people are known to become very obsessed with certain things so what if they become obsessed with discovering their true nature and living as pure awareness. It would definitley help with all suffering caused by their disability because pure awarness is never in a state of suffering. Pure awarness is always the same. Open, spacious and clear which leaves the mind open and clear.

He says this “forgetfulness” is the price Consciousness pays for bringing experience into manifestation, as when we dream we are someone or somewhere else, we forget that we are really dreaming and temporarily believe the dream to be reality.
If my understanding of this is correct, my question is, - is it therefore impossible for God, Consciousness, to have any purpose or ultimate plan for creation, or like our in our dreams, there is no meaning, except as some sort of reflection of our individual experience?

It seems many here have forgotten what is is to love and have empathy, form reading these comments.
When asked why there is suffering in the world, Rupert replied:
RS: "There is a price (suffering) to pay for manifestation."
Questioner: "It's too high, fuck manifes- forget about manifestation, the price is too high."
RS: "It's too high, and that is why it is incumbent on all of us, it is our sacred duty, those of us that have either understood or have begun to understand, and that includes everybody here, that separation, and the terrible things that happen as a result of it are an illusion. And therefore our first duty in life, our first duty, about all other duties is to realize the non-separate nature of our being with all others and things and to live the implications of that understanding."

This woman asked a very relevant question - suffering exists - what are we to do about it? The answer is simply to love, from this place of boundless love within us, as Rupert has said here.
So many who have commented here have overlooked our duty to love, to have compassion for our fellow beings.
Compassion is at the core of the teachings of the Buddha, Jesus, Anandamayi Ma, Ramana Maharishi, all religions dating back millennia after millennia.
The Golden Rule is present in all religions: i0.wp.com/kidworldcitizen.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/52014Golden_Rule_Poster.jpg?ssl=1
For those curious, here is a wonderful write-up on the shortcoming of neo-advaita, specifically the lack of compassion, and the very real presence of love in traditional advaita: www.enlightened-spirituality.org/neo-advaita.html
I hope we may all connect within and realize the abundant and infinite love that flows from this source within.

(these are honest questions, sparked by your thoughtful comment). for those of us who do not have access to love (much less boundless love!) within us, and who aren't interested or aren't willing to put in the discipline to follow a spiritual path, what might we do? does love and empathy exist within even those of us who are the opposite of enlightened? is following a spiritual path necessary the only correct way to live a life?
(i think my questions are partially from my irritation at Rupert when he was answering (and interrupting) the woman's questions. it felt like Rupert wasn't attuned to the level of distress the woman was feeling, and i felt irritated that the "big spiritual advice" (and interrupting) that Rupert was giving her was /not/ addressing/useful to her very pressing distress and feelings of frustration and wishing to undo systemic oppression).

Love and compassion (or an apparent absence thereof) can be based solely on perspective. For example, a child may experience anger and distress when the parent refuses to give them the cookie they want for supper and instead provides a nutritious meal. The child experiences suffering that is actually the result of the parent's love. The child cannot grow and develop fuelled only by cookies, even if that is what the child's limited mind is convinced it wants. It's an immature and unwise parent who is moved by "compassion" to end the child's temporary and immediate suffering (ie, giving the cookie) with no regard for the implications (the needs of the body and mind -- psychological development and maturation -- long term).
Rupert expertly gives "compassionate concession" to the mind/imagined separate self when not doing so would more deeply entrench resistance. He is "tough" with questioners when not doing so would more deeply entrench (or validate) the imagined separate self. This is the non-rigid flow of true love and compassion springing from wisdom and truth.
To give another example, who loves the alcoholic more truly, the one who pours the drink he thinks he wants and helps him perpetuate his addiction, or the one with the courage to risk his "suffering" anger who doesn't (thereby valuing his life and being)?

    • @lousialb8962

@@VeniVizzleViciThis is a fallacy. There is no imperative for one group to dominate another. When one has been the privileged oppressors for a long time being treated equally may feel like loss, discrimination, or oppression, but that doesn't make it so.

Infinite Self just “Is”. Subject-object relation/experience is of the embodied self only. When divested/understanding of the matter entanglement, the Infinite self is realized and then as a Jeevmukt, the self realized continues as the finite Self with full awareness of his infinite nature. That’s what little I understood from Advait philosophy and I can’t agree more that Rupert is brilliant in his explanations.

The idea that you are the infinite source makes the you remain and then you try to wrap the mind around how you are everything there is! The idea that you 'are' is false and getting rid of the idea and just letting the source do what it wants to do will solve all the problems. Considering the holy trinity for a moment. Kinda just struck me listening to this. Did Christianity co-op the notion, or decorate it (and construct a story)of
    1. father 2. son 3. Holy Spirit from the earliest human beliefs/notions of 1. conscious-ness (bliss/god, nirvana) 2. The ‘I’
    3. awareness (knowing we are all one/non duality)?
    Likely other religions too?
And over time all of these ‘religions’ have created various stories, dramas, symbols, languages, judgments, rules, etc …thus painting over the truth with a grand embroidery that all but covers up ‘the truth’(enlightenment) thus making it that much harder for ‘beings’ to tap into. Our modern culture drags about anesthetized from that reality. Like Rupert says, it’s a story we’re telling ourselves. It’s as if religions have attempted to make sense of everything-with perhaps sincere intentions- but have missed the forest for the trees.
I think a new age of society is rejecting religions more readily, so hopefully we are going to turn back into ourselves sooner. Which makes me think of another biblical story: the eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? Does
?… Was that our original fall from Grace from the garden of Eden-straying from true consciousness and non duality (creating an ego and a separate self), then left to believe we are separate from the one, and we are always trying to get back.?
