I knew it wasn't Raph. Not possible. Raph cant control his anger that easily. A vengeful Raph = full on bloodbath! 🤣
Leo is too precise. He wouldn't make mistakes like that and not care.
Don doesn't go at it like they do. He's the least confident.
Mikey on the other hand has been said numerous times in numerous variations that he's actually the best of the pack. He just doesn't care for the lifestyle. He's also the most unpredictable, and Leo and Splinter ALWAYS called him "clumsy". He'd also be the most unconcerned and also the most confident. And if anyone is gonna get a revenge story it's either gonna be Raph or Mikey.
I'm calling it right now. Mikey has survivors guilt and blames himself for what happened. This story is going to end with a self sacrifice and a bitter sweet revenge.

Michelangelo would make the most sense. He's always had the most athleticism out of all his brothers and he never capitalized on it much due to carefree nature.

Also, in many versions, he had great strength too, using his wooden nunchucks to go through metal foot soldiers or metal robots, or being just as DANGEROUS as Raph or Leo when sparring and in Rage mode, but losing to Raph and Leo due to technique and or calmer or focused mind

This makes so much sense cause if you think about it Michelangelo was the youngest of them all and is often told to have the most potential out of his brothers but he never tried to use the most of his potential but if seeing his brothers and father dies than he would change he went from being the happiest and kindest turtle to a cold stone person of his formal self I like the idea of Mikey being the last turtle it can us what would become of him if his family was gone I feel like this made everyone show what he could become if everyone he loved and cherish is gone.
That was my prediction too.
Michelangelo was written in bold letters, which means it is mikey!!!
And being the youngest it would make sense that his brothers protected him. And continue to protect him

That's what I was thinking, too. Also the motorcycle that was stolen was red and it figures Casey would have a red one in tribute to Raph. Maybe a coincidence but I doubt it.

It has to be him. Because you never see Raphs anger, Leo's calculation and Donny's intelligence from the Ronin. It seemed more like Michaelangelo.
So happy it’s Michelangelo.🧡 He’s been sighted as the fastest, most athletic of the brothers. Makes sense he’d be the last to survive. Plus, his out of the box creativity.
I can't believe that the Ronin is my favorite turtle... Mikey, that honestly shattered my heart to pieces especially after rereading the story.
Mikey is my favorite turtle and I can definitely see this happening to him, he would go from happy go lucky to completely cold and hardened, this story is starting to get very interesting and I can't wait to read the rest.

they eliminate donnie because 1 of the ghost turtles talk like a nerd.
Leonardo's a ghost as well bcuz in the dream where the alive tmnt sees the other 3 you see Leo's strap over 1 of their shoulder.
Raph's a ghost as well bcuz he talks towards the alive turtle at times like a brute.
Mikey never got his moment & was the first created tmnt ever, it's his time to shine.
I wish it was Leo bcuz he's my favourite but I'm glad it's Mikey.
My gf has me all mind baffled saying "April is asking the alive turtle if he was just talking to Mikey, meaning it's not Mikey so I have no idea 🤷♂️

I always knew it was going to be michelangelo. There's an episode of the 2003 series that had a plot similar to this story where Michaelangelo was the last turtle left in the future and he was super serious and ready to kick ass.

@@jakeystarsuper hmm I would have to watch the episode again to familiarize myself with it again and what exactly happened but the concept always stuck in my mind and I always thought it was a good episode. When I first heard about the last ronin it instantly popped into my head!

The story is emotional when you don't know who it is.
The story is MORE emotional when you find out its Michaelangelo.
To see him in such a dark space is genuinely heartbreaking
I feel like we're going to see the Logan-inspired live action movie at some point in our lifetime, and it'll be a glorious end for the TMNT.

I love the story so far, Mikey being the Last Ronin is amazing to me cause he’s my favorite Ninja Turtle since childhood. Love the whole brothers spirit or voices are with him as he’s on a journey of revenge. Hopefully one day it can be an animated series. Can’t wait for #2
I kinda wish they kept it as if we never figured out who he was, mainly so everyone can say oh its leo because or its mike because, just so its both only one but all of them
Great content as usual dude. My favorite moment was Michelangelo about to perform seppuku and laid out all of his brothers weapons before honoring them and his father. That was a great moment that thankfully didn’t get to happen. But the fact that he’s prepared to die with honor is incredible. Michelangelo has developed into an unrelenting force of nature
Would teenage girl jones be the daughter of Shadow Jones (casey's adopted daughter) or would she be a new daughter that casey had? Because I don't think the timeline would make sense if she was Shadow.
Aw yeah! I knew it! My boy Mikey is the ronin!- Wait a minute judging the little confusion about what April meant, how she asked the question, and the fact that you only mentioned Red, Blue and Orange, didn’t hear you say Purple, which would imply this could be Donnie.

I love it that they have done so many unique covers for so many shops. Was cool seeing my shop in the video. They also got 11x17 prints of their cover. I too think they'll do flashbacks of the lost turtles in the future.

damn. I was hoping it was a completely different turtle altogether but nonetheless Im hooked n cant wait to see how everything plays out..
Finally picked it up at my LCS. It’s exactly what you’d expect, it’s exactly what they sold it to you as. It’s the TDKR of TMNT. Loved the big reveal at the end. Caught me completely by surprise but in a good way. Loved when they made you think he was gonna use a grapple hook to get back up but then he fell... they teased you to think he might actually confront Hiroto and then right when he was so close they took it away, making you really want to see that confrontation. It’s a great setup.
Now, I was specifically reading it as though I don’t know anything about TMNT because I wanted to know: could this be a nice jumping on point? I think so. I think it is just as good of a jumping on point for TMNT as TDKR was for Batman. It harkens to characters and continuity that your average normie might not get but all you need to know is explained within the pages of the book. I think this book could have the potential to be the book that’s like: you thought TMNT was for kids? Well let’s throw this at ya!
It may just be me but this story reminds me of the 03 episode “Same as it never was” which I think was referenced in the book, and at the end of that episode the shredders domain looks a lot like the one in the middle of the city in this book.

Still excited for the remaining issues. You are right, if the only hook for the miniseries was who is the last Ronin it would get dull fast.
Eastman did a great job on layouts of the action. Ronin felt like he was agile, fast, and powerful. The look of him with all the weapons is just so cool. And the voice of his brothers I thought were really strong. Which allowed me to picture the spirits behind him.
The inner monologue box colors had to be done to either just give away the identities to those who read the ongoing or as a kind of weird misdirection.
This is a great first issue!! When he pulled out all the weapons and laid the masks on each one.. man, all the feels. Just in that one picture. Can’t wait to see how it plays out!!

It’s so amazing! 🤯🤯🤯🤯 People are disrespectful in reviews. I mean it’s literally the first book outta 5, and people are talking about trash 🗑. I mean this book was 5 star urban legend worthy classic to me. Michealangelo can’t rely on his brothers, and has to do things by himself
A movie of this would be a welcome sequel to turtles 3 in the old gritty style of turtles 1.
Mikey or Donnie always made the most sense to me for the reveal, cause there’s been too many stories where Leo or raph needed to do missions solo. Donnie and Mikey were always the least capable, Mikey due to his immaturity and Donnie cause of his lack of physical prowess.
They weren't least capable but they rarely got their chances to shine
@@jakeystarsuper least capable may have been harsh, but donnie in most iterations tended to be the worst fighter to offset his high intelligence. and mikey tended to be the most natural fighter but least cerebral/strategic.
It's why im interested in this story. in many ways mikey in most iterations had the potential to be the best ninja, but never had the mental fortitude or will to push himself to his full potential. this version is showing what happens when he's forced to. It is why i especially like him using all the weapons.
I was waiting for the spoiler review because I read the book the day it came out and so I wanted to save my comment for this. The future looks bleak, three of the turtles are dead along with Splinter, April and Casey, the foot is now made up of cyborg ninjas (hmm, that sounds vaguely familiar) and their new leader, Oroku Hiroto, son of Karai and grandson of Shredder, has turned NYC into a dystopic wasteland. I have to be honest, it's pretty good so far, although it's also the first issue, we still have four more to go and since they are being released bimonthly it's going to take a while to finish. I look forward to finding out where it goes from here though, issue 2 is also on pre-order. 😉

This was quite an impressive comic that I almost forgot Nickelodeon was involved.

I Was So Sure it was Raph based off the Way the Ronin was talking throughout the Whole chapter but all that got threw for a loop when April said Michelangelo but I still don’t think it’s him because of the way She Worded it and there’s even a Comma before Michelangelo. Also there were two time were they was a Dead turtle saying something kinda goofy. On the other hand though the room he was in when he passed out Had to be Ralph’s room because in the top left it said “Casey’s things Don’t touch” Casey’s stuff would only be in Raphs room. Idk Guess While reading it was between Raph and Leo for me But now it’s between Raph and Micky

man... im happy its Mikey but at the same time... just wow. he is nothing like the Mikey we know and love. a lot of crazy stuff must have went down to make him what he is now. cant wait to learn more. this would be awesome to see them make an animated movie out of when its all done a Hard PG-13 or light R
Its pretty easy to tell which turtle it is if you have a keen eye. His word balloons are orange.
With the ghost’s red text box, the “afterlife” scene with the Ronin in the hospital bed showing that Leonardo and Donatello were dead (given that TWO of the turtle ghosts had diagonal straps on their belts - a common design choice reserved mostly for those two characters), AND April referring to the Ronin as Michelangelo, there is NO DOUBT in my mind that the Ronin is definitely Mike.
I love they pick the turtle they picked. I was hoping it would be because its more shocking. Though my complaint is they revealed waaaaaaaaay too early.
I love stories where it comes down to the immature character to avenge those he's lost, it always comes across as being not only more serious, but also a great step forward for that characters development. Can't wait for the animated movie (lets face it there will likely be one)

I called it! I knew it had to have been him. I had at first suspicions it may have been either him or his brother due to spiritual meditation but when it was revealed it's been 10 years, there was no shadow of a doubt that it was the one revealed! It was the only serious hook that nobody would suspect by the way they handled it.
Had a feeling it was mikey since he's always the party animal of the group and this is the perfect story for him to be forced to toughen up and get his shine.
He was more of a laidback kind turtle. Party dude personality was 1987

Favorite moment for me was when he jacked that motorcycle popped a wheelie and said “Old turtle new tricks”. It put a smile on my face, because for all of us older folks to get this new tmnt series is a celebration for real!
The way the last Ronin started was epic. I mean no wasting time, just let do this! We get to finally see a pissed off mikey!

When I showed my friend the image of April he said he was more saddened about how April looked than the Turtles dying lmaooo
In the old comics of tmnt donatello was old and he seen he's brothers in the sky
I predicted Mikey was the last Ronin since the preview!!! Orange box texts could have meant anything but I felt that Leo and Raph were too obvious because of Leo's ninjutsu skills and Raph's temper, love for motorcycles, and use of sais. Donatello would have been a good choice too but we already had dystopian futuristic versions of him and Leo and Raph. That just leaves Mikey, a goofy and happy turtle who served as the light and heart of the team. I had seen a lot of moments in bad futures and dreams where Mikey dies first. The mirage comics harden Mikey pretty badly (even made him an antagonist and mass murderer but I hope the mirage comics will continue and redeem him). This led me to believe that Mikey could become the most damaged when it comes to family. His family tends to underestimate his abilities a lot over the years and they can be surprised when he actually does or say anything smart. But what happens when the light burns out? What is Mikey's character if you rake away all the happiness and fun from Mikey? I feel like the later the tmnt media plays around with Mikey, the more we get to understand how much importance he has in his family. Let me know how you guys feel about my response.
I think the last ronin idea suits Leo the best. But I love all the turtles. So I’m cool with it.

I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! I had a feeling that the Last Ronin is Mikey. It makes the most sense, to me at least.
And April was asking “Who were you talking to Michelangelo?” not “Who were you talking too? Michelangelo?” So it is Mikey.
I should of asked this a couple weeks back, as this is my first pickup of a turtle's comic since the 90's are there some important reads before this issue or was me diving back in a good thing ??

What a great story. Needs to be adapted to a cartoon series or a live action series.
I think Michelangelo was the logical choice, any other Turtle would have been like too obvious, and this make the Last Ronin an ever bigger underdog but also show how drastic and tragic have to be what happen to him to change a happy go looking Turtle into this cold and effective desperate killing machine......I fucking loved this first issue, cant wait for number 2, also so happy April is still alive.
