You nailed it. The Last Ronin is absolutely one of the greatest arcs Kevin Eastman has ever done. We asked him if this was the inevitable future for the Turtles and maybe, maybe not. In true writer's fashion lol
Bought and followed it when it dropped!!! AWESOME miniseries and it's dope that the OG Creators were behind it along with the current writer of the IDW series! It's dope and basically The Dark Knight Returns but TMNT!
Literally just read the last page, first TMNT comic I've read, and it's a bitter-sweet story and ending, a coworker brought it up and wow, very brutal and dark, and that and many reasons I love this so much
For the game, it'd be cool if as you switched weapons you took on the different fighting stances of the turtles we've seen from like turtles in time etc. Im almost envisoning a dark souls tmnt game
I always got the impression that Casey was best friends with Raphael, not Michaelangelo. As seen in the 2003, 2012 cartoons, the body count mini-series and the IDW comics.
Poor Mikey... 😢It was heartbreaking, but also liberating and inspiring. Many people expected it to be him from the start but it was actually kinda obvious at the same time. Raph would have gone out long before the series started! lol We know he's too hotheaded to be meticulous. Leo would have been too cliche and too easy. It wouldn't have hit the same notes as the others. Donnie would have been a good call too but he's the least skilled in the arts and wouldn't have lasted as long. But in several continuities both Shredder and Splinter pointed out that Mikey had the most potential to be the best of the brothers if he would just focus. In one of the animated shows Mikey actually gave everybody -flippers- hands! 😂
This is a great alternative universe because now they can experiment with the new turtles, while the main continuity universe still have the Turtles 🐢 we know and love.
Ain’t it wild that Raphael used to bully the shiii outta Mikey Ralph was Mikey biggest opp lowkey😂 and now that he’s gon he turned into him Mikey is literally the new embodiment of ralphael
The story is so overrated in my opinion. Cool ideas with average execution. Oroku Hiroto is a lame villain too. Would recommended the first 100 or so issues of the original IDW run over this. Much better pacing with meaningful character development. I will say that the art is really cool though. Especially for the flashbacks.
Bro!!! FINALLY!!! I've read this story at least 10 times or more! Wait till you get into the lost years!

Saw you at the Eastman signing at golden apple comics

With stances I would get more Ghost of Tsushima vibes with different stances and attack animations for each weapon
Awesome video as always (and nice Deftones merch!)
the Kevin Eastman Flashback panels are dope. One of the Best Comic books of 2022
The last ronin is one of the better tmnt stories period next to city at war and the Armageddon game.

Pretty sure all the Turtles n Casey were close and considered "best friends", but Raphael is just who he connects wit deeper.
I am glad this comic is being covered
Glad to see you chose to cover this book Ernie!
This story got me into reading the IDW TMNT.
I definitely wouldn't say it's the best TMNT story ever. Return to New York and City at War (mirage version) challenge that notion but it's up there

Yeah, this was a very poignant twist on the original turtles....Im looking forward to the game that's coming out in '26.
The last ronin is I’m my opinion awesome cause he was rumored to have the most potential
This was a great story glad I purchased the hardcover
Good review 👍 👏
I am surprised the MCU has not thrown money at Eastman/Laird to write or direct a film
I always thought that weird part of Reign was a metaphor, peter said his "love" was radioactive so i thought that meant his overall person.
This is a great alternative universe because now they can experiment with the new turtles, while the main continuity universe still have the Turtles 🐢 we know and love.
This story was sooo damn good! I mean this was the best dark knight returns copy cat I ha ever read
This book is on the "Must Read" list. Along with classics like All-Star Superman or The Watchmen
The Watchmen was awesome
This is the greatest, saddest, tmnt story ever told. I gotta hit a con and get my leather bound trade book autographed
I have all 5 issues. Best thing I’ve read in a long time. Only thing of recent note that stands to it is HOX/POX
@DonShotta24 I heard the lost years were good, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Evidently, it starts right after the last ronin.
The hype for the book is worth it
I do wish we got one shots of all the turtles that passed away.
And make it look easy!
Really think the combat system should be on par with the Arkham System
Cool
Ain’t it wild that Raphael used to bully the shiii outta Mikey Ralph was Mikey biggest opp lowkey😂 and now that he’s gon he turned into him Mikey is literally the new embodiment of ralphael
If y’all haven’t read this….
You’re fucking up. READ THIS BOOK NOW
Yeah, I've heard nothing but good things about this particular comic 🤔
Is there a movie or anime on this?
You should read more tmnt comics
