I still remember you saying Yoshi Touch and Go is a terrible game that's just a mere mini game. That was your worst take and showed how terrible taste you have, Arlo. Yoshi Touch and Go is the most innovative, interesting and the most beautiful looking game ever with its colourful sprites and soothing music.
I think a lot of people forget Nintendo first announced Prime 4 back in 2017 specifically for the Nintendo Switch. Keeping the release for the system is honoring their word which in my opinion is VERY important to maintain customer trust.
@@bagofgroceries”I expected [the Wii U to have] an exclusive Zelda… but they took so long in making it that it ended up not being exclusive at all.” -Arlo
yeah, I'm sure there were metroid fans who bought the switch near launch because they knew prime 4 would be coming to it, announcing last minute that you'd actually need a different console to play it would've been an understandable choice all things considered, but they promised them they'd be able to play prime 4 on this system, so they're making sure you can.
l meann, l could very much see them do the exact same thing as with BotW,, announce its existence near the start of the console, dont show it off in any substantial way for years and years, and then when they get closer to a release date you dual release it for both the current and the next platform. BotW was originally announced for specifically the WiiU as well, but they didnt mind going for the dual release when push came to shove
The MvC trailer was a master class in show me don’t tell me. If they made a big build up hoopla, then to reveal a retro collection, the non-fgc would be “all that hype for a retro collection?” Instead, Max getting his brain fried as a viral moment did way more to communicate to the non-fgc crowd how special this is than anything Capcom could’ve put together.
You're very right about this. I saw his reaction on Twitter and initially, I thought the over the top reaction was for farming views. Then I checked his channel out, watched how he campaigned to revive the franchise, realized that it was never going to happen and let it go. Then this drops on his lap on a Tuesday at 7am his time. No wonder he lost his mind.
I also think that it's meant to give life to the mvc yt page (which to my understanding had been inactive for a while). Coz the trailer they show there is different from the direct
They got the important opening and ending detail right. Opening the reveal with "this ones gonna take you for a ride" and using the character select theme at the end was the only way to announce this collection for those who've wanted it The only thing that would've made it better was if the reveal had the presenter go "ITS MARVEL BAYBEE" Like Nintendos official twitter account did
@@Dasaltwarrior Nah, the Take You for a Ride line was perfect - much more subtle, and actually stopped me in my tracks and made me say "no freaking way" out loud even though I was watching the Direct alone.
@@muffin_man281 A random Tuesday on a random Nintendo Direct when multiple other bigger events had come and gone, and THE biggest fighting game tournament in the world is happening next month. It's not just like if, as Arlo said, Metroid Prime 4 was just randomly stuck in the middle of the Direct. It's like if Metroid Prime 4 randomly dropped the trailer in the Summer Game Fest with a Nintendo Direct already announced. It's an impossible thing happening in the place that's even less possible than the other place.
The wildly different gameplay seen in echoes of wisdom very likely *IS* because Zelda is the protagonist this time. Not in a "Oh she can't be a HERO, cause she's the PRINCESS" way; that's stupid. But rather in a "She relies on a fundamentally different set of skills from Link, and represents an entirely different piece of the triforce. Of course her gameplay would be different." sort of way.
This shouldn’t really be surprising. Zelda’s a thinker, and a leader. I had personally thought that a top-down city-building/unit-management game would work well and play into Zelda’s role as a leader, but EoW is honestly not too far off from that idea, just much smaller in scale.
Given Nintendo, I wouldn't be surprised if they came up with the gameplay concept first and then decided that Zelda would be a better fit for the gameplay than Link. Nintendo is generally gameplay-first after all, and it wouldn't be the first time they chose a character to fit a gameplay concept. For an example, Captain Toad: Nintendo came up with the idea of a puzzle-platformer where the character can't jump, then they decided that Captain Toad would fit as the protagonist because his backpack could justify being unable to jump.
If zelda was fighting with a sword I wouldn't play it period, I don't want "female link", I want zelda. She deserves to have her own unique identity instead of just being "the girl character". Granted I think it would have been smarter to make her a combat mage instead of a necromancer/summoner, but her gameplay impacts both puzzle progression AND combat so it's still very in line with the wielder of wisdom. The only time I wanna see zelda fighting with proper weaponry and things is in hyrule warriors titles, and if they ever do a game where the big 3 all have their triforces swapped and zelda gets power/courage and has to be the hero instead (which would be a cool idea nintendo make that happen, and a zelda rpg with more playable races please🙏).
@@matthewmuir8884 I can believe this. I seem to recall how Aonuma over the years has said something along the lines of how they wouldn't want a playable Zelda to be identical to Link or something to that effect when it comes to movesets when the topic of playable Zelda has come up. I imagine this was in the concept phase and they thought that Zelda would be a better fit than Link.
People got spoiled by the unrealistic expectations set in the Hyrule Warriors games Zelda isn't a warrior, that's pretty obvious otherwise she'd be the one wielding the Master Sword. The only times she's been more proactive was when she was Tetra rather than Zelda, and when she was a spirit able to possess things with natural power.
I don’t know how someone could think Metroid prime 4 looks “empty” when none of the prime games have ever been run and guns. You’re essentially a space detective in those games. Not sure if that person has ever played prime
Yeah that comment reads like the person just hasn't played any of the games. I mean, that was the least empty environment I've seen from these games hahaha.
@@SilentSpringzzz it was never meant to be over crowded with NPCs? His complaint would be valid if this wasn’t the case with the other prime games, but this trailer perfectly lines up with everything we’ve come to expect. So I don’t exactly know what that guy was looking for to begin with. Probably hasn’t ever touched a Metroid tho
Honestly, all ya need to know about Sylux is that he hates Samus, hates the Galactic Federation, and has access to Metroids His more in-depth lore, origins, and backstory are largely unknown, and aside from what I listed above, all we know about him is he's allied with the space pirates and has a stolen Federation tech
Hell, he's pretty much the one bounty hunter from Hunters we know the least about, only that he hated Samus and feds, with no explanation as to why, at least we know with Weaval his grudge is so bad because Samus maimed him on a mission since he was a Space Pirate, so honestly they picked the one guy from that game who has the least issue with new fans meeting with how mysterious he's been
Yeah, but “simple” doesn’t have to mean “for babies and no one else.” Good-feel also worked on Kirby’s Epic Yarn, and while it’s very easy, it’s still enjoyable for all ages.

@@noahthecrazy1632 First of all, name a single remake that is double the price of the original. And no. They don’t have overpriced games especially if you aren’t talking about remakes.
Just because they announced MP4 for the switch, it does not mean they are not going to put it on the next system. Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, just to name a couple.
I'd be very surprised if the next switch wasn't backwards compatible though, I know they don't always do backwards compatibility, but if the next console is another switch it's basically a given, and at that point there'd be no reason to release it twice
@@DJ_Sonic09It wouldn’t necessarily be released twice. Rather, it may have a “Switch 2 enhanced” version that you get when purchasing or just downloading it for the newer system. Perhaps they may do something similar to how PS5 handles PS4 backwards compatibility. In that case, they show that a game is made for the older system, so downloading it will just give you that version. But it may also have a version for the newer system that you can download instead, receiving all the enhancements you wouldn’t have on the older system. Both versions are included in the purchase at no greater price. A game you’ve already purchased may also get an enhanced version on the new console down the line, which you can access because you’ve already purchased it. It’s a simple and effective way to handle backwards compatibility. Now, I wouldn’t put it past Nintendo to charge for enhanced editions of Switch games. But provided that such enhancements required additional developer time, such enhancements are substantial, and the price is no greater than about $10, I would consider that reasonable.
@@DJ_Sonic09 I'm betting it'll be like the DS and 3DS: You can play Switch games on the new console, but you can't play the new console games on the Switch.
I wholeheartedly disagree with the guy who says Brothership is going to bomb. The audience for this game isn't going to be fatigued at the amount of Mario RPGs, in part because they aren't these massive timesink commitments that other RPGs, like Dragon Quest and Persona, are. Also, at the end of the day, people will just see them as Mario games, and I doubt Mario fatigue will ever truly set in on the Switch, mainly because the Switch library is so diverse otherwise.
People can just buy games and not play them immediately, too. I mean, I look at my still growing game collection and cry inside a little at the ones I still haven't played.
We’re far from a Mario fatigue because we’re in a super creative era at least compared to the Wii -> Wii U era and that mainline Mario games just aren’t released as frequently now. The last original mainline was Odyssey; 3D world etc were only ports. I’m in fact more excited for Mario games because each genre is getting something new
We aren’t excited to get MORE Sylux, we‘re excited to get ANY Sylux! We love his aesthetics, and we are excited to learn more sbout him because he literally has never had any character development whatsoever outside of instruction booklet texts and such. So this game, if anything, will be more of an introduction to him than a reappearance.
Prime 4 is in the BotW position where it was announced for the current system ages ago and is obligated to launch on it, even if it doesn’t make as much financial sense as just being a launch title for the new system.
@@CALAMITY0FHYRULE As one who owned a Wii U and still to this day will always say it was a better system then the Switch ever would be, I did NOT buy BOTW on Switch till like 4 years later, only cause I was giving the trash game a second try to see if I was to harsh on it, and I figured there would be some bonus for TOTK if your Switch had BOTW save data, which didn't happen.
@@ItApproaches yikes, bummer you didn't like BOTW. Oh well. I love the Wii U, it had some great games, but imo the switches library is just better. Also there is technically a benefit to having BOTW and playing it, mainly that you're horses are saved and ported over.
@@CALAMITY0FHYRULE I forgot about the horses carrying over, but with the amiibo' I only used Epona anyway, so either way you just got her for free in both. I am not dissing the Switch's game library, they're fine. Though games ran better on Wii U then Switch lol. I'm saying the HARDWARE, the SYSTEM that was the Wii U is better then the Switch.
10:05 I beg to differ. All Mario RPGs on the switch feel so different from each other that people will still want to play more, despite being released in a year. It's different compared to the New Super Mario bros series, where they felt too similar in such a small window.
We didn't know who Rundas, Gandrayda, Ghor, Admiral Dane, or anyone from prime 3 was before we played the game. That's what that's like, you play a game and then are introduced to characters as the game progresses.
To give the benefit of the doubt, I don't think that's what they were worried about. I think they heard Soun was in other games they hadn't played and assumed because of that that Prime 4 would assume you had played those games and thus already knew and cared about him, thus making it so that Prime 4 wouldn't have to do that itself.
@@thomasfleming8131 Those feelings should be assuaged by how Dread did its introduction. Despite being a highly (HIGHLY) anticipated installment for fans of the franchise, it explained everything very clearly for newcomers, and the bits during the confrontation with Raven Beak at the end where he revealed his part in Samus's origins could be visually understood without needing to have read the manga. Retro Studios ain't stupid, they know that only a fraction of the audience for this game has played Hunters; they're gonna do everything they can to make sure Sylux stands on his own (and, if we're being honest, Sylux really didn't get any explanation at all in Hunters itself either).
Yep exactly! Spire is probably my favourite, I would have loved to seen him being featured. But Trace or Kanden are great too. I love basically all the Hunters except Weavel - I'm just so glad they didn't make him feature upfront here and it was Sylux instead! Weavel's just a bit,, boring lol.
Fun Fact: The guy who wrote that first spicy take about Sylux is one of the brothers behind SFBGames who made Snipperclips, Detective Grimoire, and most recently, Crow Country, among other great games.
I don't get how anyone look at the gameplay in the new Zelda game and think it will be dumbed down? They showed them defeated an enemy by placing a rock, having the enemy attack the rock and get stunned then throwing the rock at the enemy, then repeating the whole process one more time just to defeat the enemy fully. That right there is already way more complicated and involved than walking up to and enemy and spamming the sword button until the enemy dies. I saw that in the trailer and was like oh wow it looks like it's a puzzle just to figure out how to even defeat basic enemies, I can already imagine the complicated stuff that you are expected to do to defeat a boss in this game.
Honestly I would say what Link has done is generally been dumbed down. Figure out what the boss is weak to, whack at it a few times with a sword, rinse and repeat.
Also baiting flying enemies into one spot with meat to then attack with a deku baba. That’s much more interesting than jumping with Roc’s Feather and slashing. Imagine the cool stuff we can do with other echoes, like using the Redead to freeze enemies while another echo takes care of them. There are going to be some neat combos. It’s all perfectly in line with their philosophy of multiplicative gameplay that was the basis for BotW and, to a much greater extent, TotK. Instead of giving the player a bunch of tools with limited uses, give them a few tools with a whole ton of different uses that can result in emergent behaviors when combined. It’s my favorite type of game design.
It's dumbed down in the sense that, while the process is more complicated, you generally aren't going to be putting yourself in danger. But also, dumbed down isn't gonna be the right word. This game is obviously gonna lean more into the puzzle aspect of Zelda than the combat, similar to Oracle of Ages
It just feels annoying that you're going to have to use gimmicks to take down basic enemies instead of just being able to smack them with a sword. Instead now you summon monsters to smack them with a sword. When they have the same end product of smacking an enemy with a sword why does it matter? It feels dumbed down because there's literally less options for you to deal with enemies. Zelda has used a sword before, so why is she unable to do it now? It just feels like they made the game play a lot more tedious for the sake of a one-off gimmick.
@zacziggarot Just remember, like any other game you are gonna progress and get stronger. You will have more options available that will make combat easier, faster, or more interesting. A moblin might be slow and basic, but a darknut or lynel would certainly be more threatening
The guy complaining about the Prime 4 trailer looking like a ‘bad tech demo’ is 100% a PlayStation fan that can’t fathom a trailer having actual gameplay
Calling it a vertical slice is so unfair too. We just saw the opening minutes of the game. The real meat of any good game, or at least a Metroid game, doesn’t come until a ways in. I’m willing to bet there will be some very neat mechanical or structural features that define the gameplay of Beyond, and we won’t see them until more detailed trailers closer to release.
I realize we only saw a few minutes of Prime 4 at best, but in that trailer it genuinely looks better than Prime Remastered. And Prime Remastered looks fantastic. Visuals for what they showed look extremely polished.
I wouldn't say that even, I'd just say he's a dumbass plain and simple. Anybody with a brain would be able to tell that that wasn't even close to comparable to the "trailers" we get from pokemon. THOSE are some terrible trailers. Somebody once said "play pokemon trailers without the music and see if you feel anything" and that changed how I view them, if you take away the music its just embarassing to look at most of the time. MP4 wasn't that, I couldn't even pay much attention to the music with all the action happening, that shit was RAD
I'm actually gonna disagree on the Marvel vs Capcom collection being presented badly. The fact that they opened it up with the phrase "gonna take you for a ride" was honestly the hypest way they could have revealed it Only other thing that could've topped that is if it opened up with the "CAPCOM PRESENTS" sound bite thats associated with MvC, but thats typically reserved for new games, not re-releases However, as an FGC head, MvC was always gonna hype me up the most. Mahvel warms the soul for us
I'm not even any good at fighting games, and only bought MvC2 for my 360 for parties, like buying Smash, but even I have the menu theme stuck in my mind. I can only imagine how true fans felt getting ALL of those in-jokes and ALL those extra games.
@bradensmith8682 The extra games are probably the biggest thing, yeah. A lot of them never got proper console ports, and or were not availabe for very long (Marvel vs Capcom 1 and Marvel Super Heroes were put on PS3 and 360 in late 2012, but were delisted in early 2014 for example) It's exciting, to say the least
@@Dasaltwarrior My only nitpick is that it is missing two other Beat-em Up from Capcom. Feels weird to ONLY have Punisher and no Mutant Apocalypse or War of The Gems.
@Magnet_Chaos The reason why the Punisher is here is due to it being an Arcade game instead of a Console game, which is what these collections focus on That, and the SNES games just aren't as fondly remembered. Capcom was always an Arcade first company outside of like, Mega Man
I don't remember not knowing a character or villain beforehand ever getting in the way of my enjoyment of a game. I mean, most of the time I only know about them once I get through the story 😂
Agreed. A well-written narrative will do a good job of catching everyone up to speed on relevant characters/plotlines, especially if there's a large gap between entries
My unbelievably spicy take is that people are sleeping on MIO: Memories in Orbit. From what was shown, it looks genuinely fascinating and I can’t wait to see more about it.
It's like if ori, hollow knight, and midna's hair all had a few too many cocktails one night and 9 months later that game popped out... And I adore all 3 of those things so its a day one buy for me.
Chances are Sylux might not even be the main villain, we know he's there but not to what capacity. They could pull a Raven Beak and wait to show off the big bad.
Dread literally shows you getting manhandled by Raven Beak in the opening. Given that Sylux has been there since all the way back to Prime Hunters, I'd be more surprised if he wasn't the main antagonist.
I like the Ridley/Mother Brain balance, where there's a more rivalish villain and a big monster villain. Definitely crossing my fingers for that! I'd love to see something colossal for Metroid. I wanna have to deal with a visible-from-space kind of monster
Imagine Samus and Sylux keep running into each other and facing off as rivals, but teaming up when they’re both threatened by a new, greater enemy. It could be interesting to learn of the reason for Sylux’s hatred of the Galactic Federation and to see some character development after needing to work *with* Samus. Or he could just be a really cool nasty villain who’s fun to hate. Either works.
that take on metroid prime 4 looking bad is actually insane... how does someone see something that is blatantly the very start of a game and go "this looks barren"
in their defense, the people who made the trailer made the choice to only use footage from the very start of the game. If the beginning of the game looks barren (because it's from the beginning of the game) and the trailer of the game only uses footage from the beginning of the game, would it not be reasonable to state that the footage in the trailer looked barren..? Sure the later parts of the game are bound to be more interesting, but it's on them for choosing not to show off those more interesting parts

That's the first thing I thought of. Sure, they all fall under the RPG genre, but the playstyles of the different various battle systems differ quite a lot
They don't play the same, but they're still Mario games in the same genre. People already feel Nintendo has oversaturated the end of the Switch with Mario/Mario-adjacent titles, so pushing out 3 x Mario RPGs in 12 months is really risky. I have a feeling Mario & Luigi will sell the worst among the 3, despite it being the only new game.

Would you compare the original final fantasy 7 to any of the Mario RPGs? Unless you're super Mario rpg, they differ enough to the point where playing one doesn't feel like playing another "I have a feeling that Mario and Luigi will sell the worst" honestly, I can see by the end of the switches lifespan, that super Mario rpg would end up in the dust because both TTYD remake, and the revival of the M&L series are bigger in terms of "statements", SMRPG just gives us the idea that Nintendo and square are on good terms now
@@burbusburbus8782 It could be worse. I can sort of understand where they were coming from, since Sylux isn't a new character. The thing with Sylux, though, is that nobody knows anything about him. You aren't going to be missing out on a whole lot if you didn't play Hunters/Federation Force because the only things revealed about him in those games are very surface level.

Honestly it looks kinda off, like those cgi anime that don't quite have the funds to be done well. It doesn't bother me though as I'm not a fan of the genre. If I was I think the artstyle would be the only minor issue I'd have with it. I'm happy for the people that are interested though :)
I mean, I can't deny that Princess Peach Showtime is on the easier side. But honestly I don't care. Sometimes I want to play a game that doesn't frustrate me. Plus you have to consider the other side too. Sometimes if a game is too difficult, some people won't like it. The truth of the matter is you can't please everyone. But do I think Princess Peach Showtime is easy because Peach is a girl? Nope! As someone else already said, it was made by Good Feel. Good Feel's games are not really difficult unless you aim to get 100%. Not just that, but the games all have some things in common... No life counter Unique art styles Transformations Customization To name a few. I honestly didn't think the game was going to be hard going into Princess Peach Showtime. What I saw was something that would make me happy and to me, that's what matters. But to anyone who doesn't like it, I get it. We all have our reasons for liking or disliking anything! Let's agree to disagree I say!
I believe that you can have a middle ground in terms of difficulty. It's not like the alternative to "a walk in the park" would be literal hell. Instead of being 1 on the difficulty scale, it could be a 2, if you know what I mean. It can be tough but not frustrating. Not saying that would make it better, I'm just saying that it doesn't need to be either extreme like you think. Also, "No life counter, Unique art styles, Transformations, and Customization" alone and in regards to difficulty aren't mutually exclusive or inclusive. You can have a tough game and have any number of those. I do agree on enjoying a game despite it being very easy, I've been in that position as well. But it's always nice when they throw a bone to more experienced players. They don't need to make it specifically for me, but even a simple hard mode (which is still probably not going to be that hard) is nice. There is a point where something is so easy that it feels lacking. Kirby is fun despite most of it being pretty easy (I know about the other modes, that's besides the point), but imagine if they just made you invincible. It could still be fun, I mean, I don't usually die anyways. But it would make it worse. I'm rambling, that's all.
12:51 Honestly, Nintendo should Remake Prime 2 & 3 (and in a perfect world, Remake Hunters and Federation Force) before the release of Prime 4 so that new and old fans get "caught up" on the Prime Series before it's release
I am solidly convinced (and have been since the release of prime remastered) that the biggest reason that prime remastered was even made in the first place was so the team could get into the groove of making a metroid prime game on the switch. "Letting people get caught up with prime" was never the objective at all, prime remastered was basically a training project for the team that they were able to release and make money off of. Dont get me wrong, I love the remaster and I seriously hope that prime 2 and 3 get the same treatment, but honestly, with how bad Nintendo is at preserving thier old games, i would not be shocked if we never get anything official for prime 2 and 3.

@@jclkaytwo l get that right, but it's the marketing team's job to not even get into this situation in the first place. Of course veterans know that this trailer was a bit barren/mundane because it's only the prologue, but you cant blame people who never played the games for not knowing that Slash not being impressed by the prologue bits. As someone who knows very little about Metroid lore, knowing that Sylux is actually an established character that the devs haven't done anything with yet is pretty exciting. Since he's the game's main villain (presumably), that means the writers will have the chance to flesh him out. Heck, I'd say that the fact that you don't need to play Hunters or Federation Force to know who he is is actually a good thing. Because if you didn't know he was a pre-existing character, he's still a new villain that adds an interesting spin on the Metroid formula. I mean a villain in a Metroid game that _isn't_ just some random alien monster? That's interesting! Not to mention ambitious! I'd even say that it's commendable for the devs to pick a semi-obscure character instead of just creating a new one from scratch. One of the many things I love in fiction is when writers expand on forgotten or obscure pieces of lore. Not only is it some really nice fan service, but it shows that the creators are fans themselves and are willing to do something like that (which is another thing I like; when you can tell the new members of the dev team are fans, and ready to dig up some obscure thing and expand upon it like a user on AO3. Instead of just throwing it in there solely for the sake of it). Like, remember how in Super Mario Odyssey, they brought back Pauline of all characters, and revealed that she's the mayor of an entire city and is also the lead singer of a jazz band in her spare time? Or how in Pokémon ORAS, they actually explained how trading across different games works in-universe by implying that everyone's save files are parallel universes within an entire multiverse, and they demonstrate this by having some scientists create a wormhole using a device that's literally called a Link Cable? Weren't those some interesting concepts that you didn't expect, but were glad was brought up? What I'm saying is that Sylux being the villain of Prime 4 isn't disappointing. It's the exact opposite.
I think the Peach game wasn't easy because it was girly, but because it was just a better vibe for her. Super Princess Peach was easy as hell as well, but I loved it because it was a nice calm adventure in the Mario universe. She's the best character for a less chaotic Mario adventure, like how Luigi is the perfect character for the Luigi's Mansion
I mean, it was the light-hearted title with low stakes due to a oneshot villain. Anyone complaining about it being easy is probably a bit over-privileged with their game collection compared to the birthday kids excited for more Mario franchise.

My spicy take regarding the direct and info surrounding it is that, strange as it sounds on the surface, Nintendo is kind of justified in not immediately revealing the studio behind Brothership and waiting for us to see the studio's logo on the boxart and staff in the credits. I've said elsewhere that the internet as a whole has gotten increasingly vitriolic as time has gone on, but Nintendo fans in particular seem to be especially predisposed to harassment, death threats, and pulling potentially career and reputation ruining accusations directly out of their butts as soon as they see something they don't like. Remember how mad they got when they found out Retro was making DKCR instead of more Metroid games at the end of the wii era, or how Junichi Masuda had to delete all of his social media accounts due to pokemon fans going after the one member of game freak who's name they know when they found out about the dex cut in sword and shield, or just six months ago when Nintendo had to shut down a live event and splatoon tournament over 39 bomb threats from one dude who was salty about his poor win/loss record.
Internet is ALWAYS like that. Especially on Twitter that is REALLY TOXIC. Look at Marvel fans and Star Wars fans as examples of those issues. Like the recent Acolyte show.
Another thing in Mario and Luigi's favor is that its a new entry after a NINE YEAR HIATUS (not counting remakes) so a lot of people will be likely to be excited after having to wait this long for a new one.
Regarding MP4 being a next Gen exclusive, Nintendo wouldn’t do that because they already promised it for Switch so they feel responsible to release it. It’s why Breath of the Wild was on Wii U as well as Switch, because they promised it for Wii U.
My hot take is that I'm happy that Nintendo is reusing the new Link's Awakening engine. I thought the esthetic was very cute and was a better fit for a light-hearted story than we got in Link's Awakening. So I hope the story goes more in that direction while still being difficult and/or rewarding to outside the box thinking.
I don't think M&L Brothership will bomb, I have never played a single Mario RPG period (unless you consider the Mario-Rabbids games as part of that), but I am beyond hyped for Brothership. I don't think I'm alone on this.
I'm curious, what's your reason for not having played any other mario RPG but being hyped for this one? Did you not own previous consoles or does some aspect of this game in particular really speak to you? (ps i hope the question doesnt sound condescending/gate-keepy,, l genuinely wanna know as someone who's played pretty much all of these games :] )
@@Sponsie1000 I have a really tough time getting into JRPGs (or pokemon-esk ability-based ones). Can't think of a reason why, but I did get more into them when I broke my wrist and could only play games with 1 hand for a few weeks 3 summers ago. I have owned a Wii, DS lite, Wii U, and the Switch. I would have been too young to understand what was going on when I might have played the original games, making it harder to feel nostalgic for them or their series'. Brothership's art-style is fantastic, and I'm at the age now where narrative is actually important to me. The fights in M&L games having active play in them (jumping over attacks) might be simple, but is far more interesting to me then just percentages and hoping you don't get hit. I know that was a staple of M&L games since the beginning, but I only really felt drawn to it now.
@@micahvisser3772 thats cool! Yeah the gameplay seems pretty in-line with how the older installments played as well, but the more interactive turnbased battles is an aspect that makes the M&L series stand out from other rpg :] I wonder how it'd be like to first play this upcoming game and then go back to the older ones if you havent played any before,, since this one will be way more 3d and model-based instead of the previous games with their topdown and sprite-based artstyles. I wonder if that would detract from the earlier games or not
On the "RPG fatigue" thing. I feel like whoever suggests that's even *possible* with this particular lineup isn't factoring in just how differently each of these games play.
I mean, that was kind of with the "Fantasian Neo Dimension" title with their curved attack mechanic. Clever take on combat, but don't know if it will be that big of a selling point. I've seen plenty of RPG fans who will play functionally the same game with different skins 100x over as long as the character art is appealing. I don't think RPG fatigue is a thing past the 100+ hour gametime meaning they can't get to the next game sooner.
Pokemon released 5 (technically 3 because dual releases are the same game) games within the span of a year, all of which were controversial to some degree, charged full price, and sold over 10 million copies of each. Its very much a silly argument.

I think the trade off is you won't actually have that big of collection of Echos. Maybe you can only hold like 10 or so at a time and have to juggle the ones you think you'll need.
10:50 To counteract this point, M&L are more about platforming and less about intricate RPG elements. Usually M&L is literally the stats and equipping overalls and a badge. 13:50 I never understood why people are so hung on graphics, be like, "Ah yes those rocks over there are too smudgy" or something like that. If you want real graphics just look out your window.
I said this previously, but Zelda worries me specifically because it brings back the massive horizontal item bars that plagued TotK. There are some other fears about the game being more sandboxy, but with the 4 item limit that's somewhat assuaged my fears.
I agree with your take on Legend of Link. It's a funny joke, and the first thing I did when they showed the trailer was to go on Discord and tell my friends "They announced a Legend of Link!", but as an actual game title, it would cause far too much confusion
My only hot take is that, of the three killer apps they showed, I'm more excited about Echoes of Wisdom than Brothership or Metroid Prime 4. This is because, while the other two look fantastic, they haven't shown much that we didn't already see from previous entries. Echoes of Wisdom has not only given us a brand new playable character, but one who has a whole new set of abilities that allow for a lot of creativity.
A new game from a series that's been dead for a long time is more exciting than a game from a series that has never been at risk of being discontinued.
@@lewstherintelamon244 It's more complicated than that though. Zelda as a series has been actively innovating and changing the game industry consistently for decades, whereas we;ve more or less known what we're going to get with Metroid Prime since the first game. Zelda is more exciting to me because it's way more mysterious.
I love that we've gone from the WiiU era of complaining Nintendo isn't releasing enough games to the Switch era where we're now complaining there's too many games being released.
7:50 L Take, I’m sorry. Imagine having to wait for BOTW, all those years, just for them to scrap the Wii U version. Or scrapping the GC version of Twilight Princess.
What people are missing about the new Zelda game (and this applies to TOTK too) is that more options gives more solutions, which inherently makes puzzles easier, not more complex. 5:25 is the perfect example, Zelda gets past strong wind using a tree and a box. The tree is twice as effective as the box in every way and yet they both work in avoiding the wind. Frankly, the box is a dumber way to solve it. You need a stool first to even get on the box and the box will get blown away if you aren't fast enough. But it doesn't matter, because it still works. There is no reward or reason to solve it any smarter than spamming objects that let you go up, which seems to be the majority of Zelda's toolkit from what's shown in the trailer. This definitely isn't a problem with the game being about Zelda, it's a problem with the general direction of Zelda right now. People say it's unique and they're happy Zelda doesn't play as Link anymore but all I'm seeing is a simplified, 2D version of Link's TotK abilities.
I do understand why some people might not like Sylux as Main Antagonist. I've heard plenty of fans who've played Hunters say they would have preffered Trace instead. Trace was more memorable because he was OP in Multiplayer.
He didnt like the villain because he thought it *was* established. As in he was upset about the idea of having to research who this guy is to understand the story
Was about to skip the Squarespace ad, but then I thought "WAIT! But then I won't get to hear today's recomendatiooooooooooooooon!" (You always have the best ad reads, haha.)
The problem with the Metroid Prime 4 trailer isn't that I don't think it's gonna be good. The problem is that it communicates absolutely nothing. I look at it and just go "Yup, that's Metroid Prime gameplay alright", and nothing else. There wasn't any kind of hook. It's making me wonder why they even bothered at all. Especially since Zelda or Mario & Luigi probably would have served just as well as the "one more thing" thing. There wasn't even any real point in confirming it's existence, really, as they already did so right before Dread was announced. But hey, I'm still excited to see what else Prime 4 brings to the table.
It just occurred to me how fucking radical it would be to have the speed booster from dread in a prime game. Only if there's large open areas. You could do the cool shit like with the ball boost.....
Yeah. As excited as I am, they didn't show much gameplay in that trailer than I imagine. The only thing we saw was when Samus came out from the spaceship and going in first person perspective, that's where we know it'll be another Metroid Prime game. Now I'm not suspecting they need to change the gameplay an whole alot cause the core gameplay still looks as good as it was from the other previous Metroid Prime games. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. You know? But we have no idea what an new feature or added gimmick they would be adding into the mix. Like with Prime 2 having an Light & Dark World aspect or Prime 3 with the Hypermode. I'm ain't suspecting something really huge. But at least make something with it that stands out from other Prime games.

Legend of Link is just a joke. If Echoes of Wisdom was called anything else, it’d be a spinoff, like Showtime. But it’s not. It’s a mainline Zelda game, as it should be.
All Triforce bearers should eventually get their own games. It's weird we're just getting a game about Zelda now. Hopefully She gets more games in the style of Ocarina of Time or BotW. Maybe one day we'll get a Ganon/Gannondorf game with destruction and control being the gameplay due to the Triforce of Power.
@@bradensmith8682 I don’t think I want that. Ganon is not a sympathetic villain, or a comedic, sometimes team-up like Bowser. I do think it’d be interesting to do something new with the triforces though. Like maybe in one iteration they get shifted, so Zelda has courage, Link has power, and Ganon has wisdom. The formula has worked for about 40 years, and im not sure it needs that big a shakeup, but could be interesting to have new gameplay like that.
@@goonballoon Comparing EoW with Totk is wild af. That's like comparing Super Mario 3D World to Super Mario Odyssey. 2 vastly different styles of games, I don't think it's fair to compare these 2 at all.
My take on the Prime 4 thing: I think the series has always been a showcase of graphical fidelity, but not because the consoles the games have been on were powerhouses that did the dirty work for them. I've always appreciated how far these games push their hardware. If Prime 4 was a Switch 2 exclusive, I feel like the logic of "It's so we can show off the graphics of the next console" is kinda silly? Because you don't need a powerhouse console to make a beautiful game- Prime 4 releasing on the Switch, the same way Prime Remastered did, might just be an easy to appreciate beauty that displays what developers can do if they know what they're doing. I think that's really cool. Is that gonna be less main stream? Maybe! It's hard to say. But as a Metroid fan, all I care about is the quality and care put into it. Prime 4 immediately shows us the devs are still just as capable of working around limitations as they used to be.
I don't think I could disagree more with the idea that the Prime Remaster should have waited until now to release. The last time MP was available at all was in the Metroid Prime Trilogy release on the Wii back in 2009. A huge part of Nintendo's audience has never played a 3D Metroid game, so it only makes sense to give them a real taste of it well in advance and then leave some time for their appetites to grow for more before the new game. That being said, 2 and 3 really SHOULD get some kind of re-release before 4 comes out, because again, they were last made available 15 years ago.
Mother 3 was said to be made for the CD add-on for the SNES, then they said N64, and finally GBA. I'm happy that when they said Metroid Prime 4 is coming to Switch back in 2017, they kept their promise. Especially considering Nintendo didn't have to, I'm happy that Metroid fans don't have to buy a brand new system in order to play the new Prime title they were told would come out on the current system.
I feel like people expected Metroid Prime 4 to even blow games like Cyberpunk 2077 out of the water in terms of graphics. I agree that most of this comes from the fact that Metroid Prime Remastered looked so unbelievably good for a "remaster" running on Switch. But I also blame the TH-cam compression which caused many of the sections to appear blurry and devoid of detail. People are also forgetting how bad other switch games look/run in comparison. Metroid Prime 4 is not only going to be the best looking switch game but also run at 60 FPS. Retro Studios are absolute wizards! Also to the people calling it Halo for kids: Halo Infinite looked so bad, people made memes about it. Remember Craig? Yeah, yeahhh! Sit tf down!
3:00 I was in the camp that thought "Oh, a Retro Collection. Wow. I'm sure EEEEVERYONE is hyped for this /s". But hearing the situation with it, even though I care, I think I totally get how those who are hyped must feel. Cuz I'm in a similar camp, when there's "ANOTHER damn Monster Hunter announcement" where most people just zone out, and I'm like "Nice! This saved the Direct for me!"
That Echoes of Wisdom take really, REALLY helped to clarify my own feelings on Echoes of Wisdom. I had complained before about the sense that the game we'd get was a 2d spinoff with a gimmicky new mechanic where she fights with rocks and chairs instead of blades and spells, and even just getting a top-down spinoff game instead of a full 3d mainline title. And I realized that it getting this "Princess Peach Showtime Babying" process is my actual worry. The change in core gameplay makes me think they're not taking it as seriously as a zelda game "ought" to be. Though this might also be my own biases in favor of 3d games with the sense that the 2d outings are basically just inferior spinoff games in general.
i know its a little off topic, but i love that arlo keeps that little plastic ganondorf around. It always makes me think of his zelda action theatre video and that makes me smile
Zelda doesn’t "look baby," but the visual style is something I've seen many non-Nintendo fans point to as to why they believe Nintendo is "for kids." It's not as bad as it was during the GC era where most teens/young-adults avoided Nintendo like the plague for being "kiddie," but I have seen people point to Princess Peach Showtime, Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, Mario & Luigi, Kirby, etc. as targeting kids & not adult gamers.
@@batmanbud2 Id throw out a bet it's due to windwaker. That was a major title in a big IP, and it looked, to some people, childish. I could replay that game for the next six years, and I'm 18, but to many ig they thought it looked like it was for a younger audience
@@CALAMITY0FHYRULE That's exactly what they thought about TWW. Their loss. The bigger zeitgeist of the 2000s in the United States, which you are thankfully too young to remember, is that cartoons were for children and the only exceptions were foreign shows that (supposedly) only nerds and children liked. Nintendo had a lot of cartoony games, so it was seen as being for kids. Sony was such a juggernaut worldwide that the GC stood no chance anyway but the Xbox-- which had a lot of "realistic" games-- doing as well as it did put the nail in the coffin.
Tell them to read up on Kirby's Lore and they'll change their tune, also the trailer for Echoes starts with Link being dragged down into some unknown dimension. The art style may look cute but there's some heavy stuff going on in that game. And I'll gladly take the way Nintendo's games look as opposed to generic shooter 1002's graphic's anyday.
Im certainly glad prime remastered came out when it did because being wowed and blown away by new shiny graphics means nothing to people who dont care about metroid. I'll admit, when prime remastered dropped I was like "oh, ive heard of metroid-- that looks kinda good, maybe ill pick it up... $40? Shadow Drop? Shoot, i guess im checking it out now" which gave me time to play it, fall in love with it, learn the history of the metroid seiries and prime 4, play most of the other metroid games and absolutely falling in love with the franchice just in time to see that prime 4 trailer and be rollling with hype. I value the fact that I got to experience this first hand far more than any graphical surpise, not that anyone who would rather be wowed by 4 initially is wrong, just a different experince than me
I definitely feel like Echoes of Wisdom was designed around Zelda being the protagonist. Not (at least primarily) in the sense that she's female or that she's a princess, but in the sense that she is the aspect of Wisdom in this universe. We've actually seen gameplay styles contrasted based on different sides of the triforce before. The oracle game centered around saving and helping Din and Nayru, with Farore being an element that links the 3 games. They were adapted from the original godesses, and so in Seasons where you're saving Din there's a greater focus on combat to reflect the connection to power, and in Ages where you're saving Nayru there's a great focus on puzzle solving. Echoes seems like it was built around having a focus on wisdom much more deeply impact the core gameplay.
Considering how much trouble my niece has had with Princess Peach I wonder if those of us who think it's "too easy" are just too old and are just too skilled to be in the broad appeal bracket.
You’re absolutely right! I remember my own experience with another game, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which I breezed through with little to no difficulty. I was a bit confused by that, because I remembered having a hard time playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii years ago. I then realized it was because I became so skilled at that game (and Mario Maker) through years of playing that I could just… instantly understand Wonder, and how it works. It really is about natural skill development that can make a game easier than it would be to those without it!
i think princess peach showtime gets treated like that because peach isn't a character anyone takes seriously. zelda isn't the kind of character i envision boys not taking seriously.
I don't know how you can misinterpret the Metroid Prime 4 footage as anything other than the opening minutes, unless you've never played or seen a Metroid Prime game before.
i mean the mario rpg thing is not really as big of an issue as you might think, especially considering that mario rpg, ttyd, and mario and luigi are all very different rpgs stylistically and mechanically.
the question is do potential buyers know that? and do they have the money to justify three rpgs in the mario universe? even if that is the case? it's not about them feeling too similar but that they all three are in a similar niche and release too close together
I wish the new Zelda was a more traditional 2D Zelda. Ever since you pointed out a couple years ago in your video about the topic that the last 2D Zelda without some kind of weird asterisk on it was Minish Cap, it’s stuck with me. BOTW and TOTK are 2 of my favorite games in the world but I do miss the old formula… this would have been the perfect opportunity for that.
Important addendum to the whole "It should have been called "Legend of Link" - technically in the first game the "series title" was Hyrule Fantasy, and the subtitle was "The Legend of Zelda" You can even see this original title on Eiji's shirt during the reveal. When the game was localized, they dropped the "Hyrule Fantasy" bit and just had "The Legend of Zelda as the title. This is why the second game isnt called The Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link, but rather Zelda 2: AOL. In japan, it was a sequel to the Hyrule Fantasy: The Legend of Zelda, so it was simply called Zelda 2 to indicate it was continuation of that story. Starting with Zelda ALTTP all reigons dropped the hyrule fantasy naming scheme because "The Legend of Zelda" was already what most regions knew it as.
RE: All the Mario RPGs in one year - Nintendo also may be pushing out all the 1st gen Switch titles already in development ASAP so they can move resources to Switch 2 games.
I'm still baffled that people genuinely think they showed switch 2 footage for metroid prime 4. Like metroid prime HD looked stupidly good, and metroid prime 4 seems pretty comparable with it looking more intense and action packed but a bit muddier texture wise. It's absolutely possible on switch, and if that WAS a switch 2 showcase then I'm already very underwhelmed with the successor console.
the game looks really good or just awful depending on who you ask. i'm over with bothering about their opinions. the vast majority have no idea what they're talking about anyway.
I’m not even a Metroid fan and I’ve never watched a full playthrough of ANY Prime game. And I could tell you the bulk of the trailer was the opening tutorial segment.

My worry with Echoes is that it'll be easier than usual Zeldas because you can just summon enemies to fight enemies for you, and the puzzles having 'multiple solutions' basically means you don't have to think that hard to solve them. It's like how in Tears you can just brute force almost any puzzle with generic processes. It's hard to see how we'll get to see Zelda being wise if puzzles don't go much further than "tree in way, how get past?"
A puzzle having multiple solutions making you think in different ways is far superior to a puzzle with a single solution. Also, just because puzzles in games are simple / adults can figure them out in seconds that doesn't make them any less puzzles. Also, Wisdom is the use of knowledge / good judgement; it isn't having an IQ of 200.
@@POIUYTREWQ62 Some of the most memorable puzzles in Zelda are the ones that take effort to figure out, or thinking outside the box. You won't get that kind of eureka experience if the solution is just do what you've done fifty times already. Fundamentally disagree that puzzles with multiple solutions are inherently superior to single solution puzzles, unless the metric you want to measure is accessibility or people's ability to continue on without getting stuck. That's a valid concept. But multiple solution 'puzzles' are more like obstacles than puzzles, and they make the game easier and thus less clever, which doesn't sound like Princess Zelda. It's bizarre to think that Link is going have more puzzling puzzles than the holder of the Triforce of Wisdom. Unless they're hiding some extra mechanics, which is entirely possible, I can't see there being many actual puzzles that aren't "solved" by just throwing different echoes out until you find out rock beats paper.
@@TaliesinMyrddin The open ended “puzzle” solving is one of the things that makes TOTK so tedious to play. I don’t have to figure out the intended solution when I can just “solve” everything with recall and ultrahand.

yeah, I'm sure there were metroid fans who bought the switch near launch because they knew prime 4 would be coming to it, announcing last minute that you'd actually need a different console to play it would've been an understandable choice all things considered, but they promised them they'd be able to play prime 4 on this system, so they're making sure you can.

People got spoiled by the unrealistic expectations set in the Hyrule Warriors games
Zelda isn't a warrior, that's pretty obvious otherwise she'd be the one wielding the Master Sword. The only times she's been more proactive was when she was Tetra rather than Zelda, and when she was a spirit able to possess things with natural power.

Honestly, all ya need to know about Sylux is that he hates Samus, hates the Galactic Federation, and has access to Metroids
His more in-depth lore, origins, and backstory are largely unknown, and aside from what I listed above, all we know about him is he's allied with the space pirates and has a stolen Federation tech
Hell, he's pretty much the one bounty hunter from Hunters we know the least about, only that he hated Samus and feds, with no explanation as to why, at least we know with Weaval his grudge is so bad because Samus maimed him on a mission since he was a Space Pirate, so honestly they picked the one guy from that game who has the least issue with new fans meeting with how mysterious he's been
This guy sure sounds dangerous, I hope he's a big part of the Metroid series!
I just remember watching the Prime Hunters opening/trailer that showed off all the bounty hunters and Sylux was the only one my brain latched onto.

The Peach game was easy because it's made by the developers of Yoshi's Woolly World and Crafted World. They just mainly make simple platformers.

Just because they announced MP4 for the switch, it does not mean they are not going to put it on the next system. Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, just to name a couple.
"Mother Life Half 3: This time the G mom means business" confirmed? 🤔
I'd be very surprised if the next switch wasn't backwards compatible though, I know they don't always do backwards compatibility, but if the next console is another switch it's basically a given, and at that point there'd be no reason to release it twice
@@DJ_Sonic09it’s called the Switch U and it backwards compatible but you need a GameCube controller adapter that takes 2USB ports to play switch games
It also will help that Mario RPG fans have been starved for good games for like a decade at this point so we’ll eat anything at this point.
People can just buy games and not play them immediately, too.
I mean, I look at my still growing game collection and cry inside a little at the ones I still haven't played.
I don't think the Mario and Luigi games have ever been massive sellers...they are a niche title and that's fine.
Also none of the rpgs play the same. They all use action commands and thats about it gameplay wise.
Although TBF anyone who bought a switch was gonna buy BOTW. But that's mainly due to very few people owning Wii Us.

10:05 I beg to differ. All Mario RPGs on the switch feel so different from each other that people will still want to play more, despite being released in a year. It's different compared to the New Super Mario bros series, where they felt too similar in such a small window.
Also all Mario RPGs on switch except Mario&Luigi are remasters so lots of people that playes the original probably skipped these.
I don't care about anything Arlo, has to say. Honestly, he's become too negative and toxic, and he can go g****** f*** himself.
“You don’t title your game based on a funny”
Ratchet and Clank subtitles: "Allow us to introduce ourselves."
20:00 “And Samus is coming for you too buddy” is one of the most fear inducing phrases in gaming.
Yeah, funny that Arlo didn't seem to catch that he managed to feature someone who actually developed a game for Nintendo
As a “PlayStation fan” (but also a diehard Metroid fan), I completely get that lol.
That’s rich considering a lot of modern PlayStation games really are tech demos. Xbox too
I wouldn't say that even, I'd just say he's a dumbass plain and simple. Anybody with a brain would be able to tell that that wasn't even close to comparable to the "trailers" we get from pokemon. The extra games are probably the biggest thing, yeah. A lot of them never got proper console ports, and or were not availabe for very long (Marvel vs Capcom 1 and Marvel Super Heroes were put on PS3 and 360 in late 2012, but were delisted in early 2014 for example)

"I have a feeling that Mario and Luigi will sell the worst" honestly, I can see by the end of the switches lifespan, that super Mario rpg would end up in the dust because both TTYD remake, and the revival of the M&L series are bigger in terms of "statements", SMRPG just gives us the idea that Nintendo and square are on good terms now

No life counter
Unique art styles
Transformations
Customization
To name a few.
I wouldn't really describe peach showtime as having a "unique art style"

I am solidly convinced (and have been since the release of prime remastered) that the biggest reason that prime remastered was even made in the first place was so the team could get into the groove of making a metroid prime game on the switch. "Letting people get caught up with prime" was never the objective at all, prime remastered was basically a training project for the team that they were able to release and make money off of. @@jclkaytwo l get that right, but it's the marketing team's job to not even get into this situation in the first place. This trailer may pretty easily come across as a bit lackluster because the marketing team chose to only use bits from the prologue, knowing fully well that it's less exciting and not fully representative of the entire game. Of course veterans know that this trailer was a bit barren/mundane because it's only the prologue, but you cant blame people who never played the games for not knowing that Slash not being impressed by the prologue bits.
If we agree that the prologue bits are less cool than the actual game bits, then why are we surprised when people say the trailer wasnt as cool as it could/should have been when they chose to only show us prologue bits? Thats on them, not on us. Why is it our problem when they show us a trailer (after 7 years of development) that isnt representative of the game? That just sounds like a poor trailer to me :]

@justinyoon2840 Oh trust me as a star wars fan, I get that. Star Wars fans on social media are a different breed I tell ya.

I said this previously, but Zelda worries me specifically because it brings back the massive horizontal item bars that plagued TotK. There are some other fears about the game being more sandboxy, but with the 4 item limit that's somewhat assuaged my fears.
The thing is, is that I think that Metroid Prime 4 will be a cross-gen title like with Botw
Max's scream for MvC was so hilarious yet so relatable lol
Prime Remastered makes more sense if Prime 2 Echoes Remastered and Prime 3 Corruption Remastered getting shadow dropped before Prime 4 Beyond.

@@keleynal4424Then do a Warriors game focused around Ganon cutting through the armies of Hyrule and obtaining the Triforce for himself.

Zelda doesn’t "look baby," but the visual style is something I've seen many non-Nintendo fans point to as to why they believe Nintendo is "for kids."
It's not as bad as it was during the GC era where most teens/young-adults avoided Nintendo like the plague for being "kiddie," but I have seen people point to Princess Peach Showtime, Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, Mario & Luigi, Kirby, etc. as targeting kids & not adult gamers.
Ironically the GCN is Nintendos least "kiddie" console.
On the Legend of Link thing. Yes, they should totally throw away all of the brand recognition built over nearly 40 years for a joke.
This but unironically
Same with Mario + Rabbids. Only at least there, they're more of an Tactical RPG/Strategy.

Important addendum to the whole "It should have been called "Legend of Link" - technically in the first game the "series title" was Hyrule Fantasy, and the subtitle was "The Legend of Zelda"
You can even see this original title on Eiji's shirt during the reveal.

@@TaliesinMyrddin yeah. . .those sure are the most memorable. . .
*Eagle Tower flashback intensifies*
@@batmanbud2 The one I was thinking of was the bastard in Spirit Tracks or Phantom Hourglass with the map and the marking (but also one with levers)

The open ended “puzzle” solving is one of the things that makes TOTK so tedious to play.
I don’t have to figure out the intended solution when I can just “solve” everything with recall and ultrahand.
I would agree with the Mario RPG fatigue if not for the existence of the NSO Vouchers.
COLD TAKE: they will release Metroid prime 4 for the switch 2 first and after a few weeks the will release it on the original switch just like they did for twilight princess 6:18
Okay so, I very rarely find myself with enough comfortable, disposable income to buy a new game. I went from being able to afford one every month, to one every 6 months.
I've been itching to play a new Mario RPG, but I am absolutely only gonna pick one out of what we've gotten, and I'm picking Brothership.
I think they're absolutely gonna cannibalize SOME sales, but I couldn't say how many
Ze Frank shoutouts on Arlo was not the crossover I was expecting but a hugely welcome one. Two top tier channels!
I always took “Legend of Zelda” as meaning “Zelda universe”, not “Saving Zelda”. So yeah I think the “Legend of Link” crowd is just joking. That or they’re not the sharpest tools in the shed.
It'd be a fun novelty, but beyond that it doesn't make a ton of sense.
"The Legend of Zelda: The Legend of Link" would be the most Yugioh name possible. And I wish they did it
@@Magnet_Chaos not a bad idea actually.
Is that Metroid Prime Hunters gameplay footage up-rezzed? It looks smoother and better than I remember it being. I thought it was much more pixelated proto-3D.
