    You dont need the plugins with cura. Cura has this built in for regular square manual supports. Use the support blocker and then use the button with 4 pawns on it to change the support blocker to a support and it turns into a support pillar. You can resize the support to your hearts desire.

    • @ShockVideoVFX

      True, but this method is quite a bit quicker.

    • @chrismckay3868

      @@ShockVideoVFX not by much really, and you don't need to log into to cura to download it as it's part of the base program. I have downloaded the plugins but still find myself just using the flipped blockers most of the time. And anyways the comment was more to counter the insinuation cura did not have it by default :)

Saves so much print time that its so worth the few extra minutes to add. Great video and def something not enough people are aware exists

    Another bonus using Cura is that many of the newer extensions work on older version of Cura. Playing around with the extension covered in the vid in Cura 4.0. I found that 4.0 gives me everything I need without the bloat. I have the newer versions installed but it seems to take at least twice the print time for the same piece with the same settings.

    Hey Chuck! Custom: click first point than second and it lays a support between 2 points with angled top, trying not to cross the upper part of the model. Excellent! Almost like painting supports.

    • @brunoosti1
      @brunoosti1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Kalvinjj I'm not sure if the tool wont simple lay the custom support until it touches the bed, crossing the inside of a hollow model. Let me test this. Maybe combining support blockers with custom supports. With the old custom supports it would always extend the support down the bed, even if there was some part of the model where it could be built on and you've had placed blocker under that part.

    • @brunoosti1
      @brunoosti1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea... it creates supports through the model until the bed, against bockers, even.

    • @Faroacces0
      @Faroacces0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Kalvinjj Supports starting from the model itself is a normal thing and it shouldn't ruin the model's surface. I sometimes did it while printing some minis. Otherwise you should try tree supports either from Cura or the customizable ones from meshmixer.

    Can you angle the supports? Flashprint allows you to change just the base leaving the rest of support to be the chosen size and allows you to choose where the support touches the model then where it touches base allowing angled support posts avoiding marring model further. It then allows you to tie another post from another point of the model down to an existing post reducing the amount of support material.

    • @gothmaniow
      @gothmaniow 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there I've never used Flash print ,but I've used a (not very well known slicer named Craftware and you can do exactly this with their custom supports feature. ,I hope that you can will be able to do on all slicers in the near future ,as you said less marking on the models :)

    With the arm, the section between the last two supports is a 80 degree or so overhang. That needs more continuous support than just one little dot and then a few layers further on another. Needs one of those wedges in that section, basically.
