    I have been printing for two weeks now. Man some of the supports have been a bear to get off, or in one case impossible. So now I am going to try a tree support, that was just amzing the way it peeled off. Thanks for the great tips!

    Finally an excellent video explaining support setting. I don't tend to use Cura that much as my Windows Pc is old and sluggish with onboard graphics, but it does run pretty well if I have Linux installed, so I might just add a Linux partition just so I can start using it again.

    So after everything... Looking up what all the settings mean and do and what measurements to try and use… all that… just for Tree to be better in basically every way 😂
    Like you said at the end, won’t work for everything, but tree really does simplify the whole process huh. Awesome video my man.

    Supports on Cura have been a problem for me. I been trying to print the USS ARIZONA Tower structure aft section and I gave up on two that I just could not remove the supports. The supports were very tight to the tripod legs and I broke one of them trying to snip around it. Going to give it another shot and see if tree supports will help with this section.

  • @OZtwo
    @OZtwo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, I'm new to all this but what I do not understand about support structures is why we do not have a speed option for them? You would think that their would be 3 levels of speed: Print Speed, Travel Speed and then Support Speed. Since supports will be waste at the end, we don't need quality looking supports. :)

    I have version 4.9.1. I’m trying to print a mandalorian helmet. The support coming from the visor is going through the model by the cheek piece and to the build plate. How to I stop this?

    I'm so new, but how do we have the colours for supports ect different? Mine are all the same colour as the model, which makes it so hard to actually see which is a support and which is a model!
    Thanks in advance

    this was my 3rd print ever last week (I'm new) on my ender 3 v2. I didn't know how to use supports. Everything turned out fine without supports except for his right hand. yoda now has no hand in my model lol. but everything else printed fine with no supports . I guess I got lucky

    Have a question on the tree supports. When your talking about turning off the support then using the experimental option. When i open mine, I don't see Tree Support. Mine starts out with slicing model option. Was this option removed in the newer version? I'm using version 4.8.0.

    • @TheFirstLayer
      @TheFirstLayer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was made a stable feature in 4.8. You can now find it under the Support tab. The dropdown gives you an option for normal supports or tree supports.

      Its a newer feature or it was at the time. Its been moved out of the experimental stage and into the support menu in 4.7

    • @Pics2FlicksDennis

      My experience is, while Tree Supports usually increase print time, and add a little to material usage, cleanup is MUCH quicker, and the prints have far less support scarring to fix in post processing. So, timewise, it’s a wash, and the end results are far better.

  • @mrechbreger

    The cura support is really far from good, the default settings are way too over. it could be so easy just do some stick support and before touching the object try to connect the sticks.... like a wooden building is holding the ceiling with a Y line structure.
    Big minus for cura on the support.
