    Rex rushing into the firefight to stop his brothers from killing each other is still chilling to this day…
    Rest In Peace Hardcase and Waxer. Hardcase we knew for only four episodes (he first appeared in “The Deserter”) but still hurt to see him go, and Waxer helped save the little girl on Ryloth and even had a painting of her on his helmet

    This is one of my favorite arcs of the Clone Wars. I've been waiting patiently for you to get to it and I was not disappointed with your reaction. Waxer's death was one of the saddest. Especially since it was friendly fire. I think this was the first time Star Wars really dealt with friendly fire and terrible leadership (at least in TV/movie media). Very much the "War Movie" arc of the series. So many clones didn't make it.

  • @shugaroony
    @shugaroony 2 ปีที่แล้ว +40

    Watching Krell cut through them is gloriously horrifying, in the same way Vader did so in Rogue One. The clones survived hell, what awaits for them next is another trial.
    Shame we didn't get more Hardcase, he was great; and seeing Numa on Waxer's helmet gets me every time.

    If there's one thing fans can agree on, it's that Pong Krell is the worst. He's like the Umbridge of Star Wars - universally despised, essentially irredeemable but an undeniably well-crafted villain. Krell's role is to be hated and he fulfills it.
    He is a beast wielding those two double-lightsabres though.

    This arc is still so devastating no matter how many times I've seen it. I just want all of our boys to have like a nice long relaxing break or something because this shit was traumatic. I agree, tho, I love when they explore the realities of war and what it means for the Clones as soldiers but also people. It's part of what makes this show so good, as much as I also love our main Jedi characters. Anyway, a great reaction & discussion as always! Can't wait to see your reactions to the upcoming arcs. I remember watching this when it first aired, I had to say that, once again, you could almost see Sidious' hand in this. Krell was a wild card, not part of the Sith plan, and needed to be eliminated. Plus, there was another bonus to what happened, the clones of the 501 now knew what it took to kill a Jedi, there trust in the order shaken, and Anakin would have deal with the fact that another Jedi not only betrayed his men, but got many of them killed as well. Again, a win/win scenario for the Sith, which seemed to happen more and more as the Clone Wars went on.

    You know, I didn’t think it was possible to loathe a character as much as Dolores Umbridge. I was wrong. The way the show built up the clones, especially Rex, as individuals and then places them under the command of someone as prejudiced as Krell is heartbreaking to watch.

      For me, Ramsay Bolton from Game of Thrones is the character I loathe and despise above all other characters, though Umbridge is up there as well. Krell does not quite match the level of hatred but he’s very, VERY close to it.

      I disagree. Having Anakin come back and fight Krell would be kinda corny.
      "Our hero returns to save the day and defends those he loves!"
      Having Rex to deal with it himself was so much more powerful.

      Yes, but there is an interesting detail here, even taking into account the biggest losses, Krell also had the status of the most productive general in the republic. I highly doubt that he used the meat assault tactics, because it’s unlikely that you will be able to take the target, having soldiers less than the enemy by 100 times. Most likely, he used advanced tactics, albeit extremely dangerous, perhaps concentrated strong shock fists and reached the goal with lightning speed.
