      “Need” is a strong word. Rebels is unwatchable in stretches, it’s not worth the effort. Neither am I particularly invested in the Ahsoka series, which I will probably watch because it’s live action rather than animated, and I’m sure it will neatly summarise any prior plot informations. If not , searching it up is fine.

      @@joer3720 - You may have found it unwatchable, but not everyone did. I personally loved it. I thought it was a great depiction of what "Star Wars" is and many times was better than some live action offerings. I remember when the Trailer for Episode 7 came out, the trailer for Season 2 of Rebels also came out and I was WAY more excited about Rebels season 2 than I was Episode 7.

      @@DevJannz yeah, I get that, it’s all opinions as to whether something is good or not. But nobody “needs” to watch Rebels or anything else to watch future content.
      The first Star Wars I ever watched was Return of Jedi. It remains my favourite film of the series, I didn’t “need” to watch A New Hope or Empire Strikes Back to appreciate it.

      Given that many people reduse to watch the animated series, my guess is the live action shows will give a quick data dump.
      You can watch The Mandalorian without having watched Clone Wars. So my guess is you won't need Rebels to watch Ahsoka. Those who've seen Rebels will be rewarded but those who haven't will enjoy it just the same.

      @@havok6280 Well if the Ahsoka series will be heavily based on Ezra and Thrawn, then maybe watching Rebels will be necessary since those characters might play bigger parts than just cameos. It is interesting how they modelled the young Dooku, as opposed to the very harsh angled version in the Clone Wars giving him the evil, menacing look. This one is very much like a young Christopher Lee, smoother and overall a bit more human and therefore more sympathetic.

    • @JessAnderson1988
      @JessAnderson1988 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It's just a natural progression of the art style. I'd been wanting an updated Dooku face model for years when Clone Wars was running, as every other character received an update. I suspect if the show wasn't cancelled, Dooku would have received an update back then. I'm glad we finally got it here.

    Don't be scared to offer your opinion on things, that is the fun part of taking a journey into this world. As far as what you said about the dark side here, you are fairly spot on. In one of the books, a Sith Lord describes the dark side as a drug that they would never wish to be free of, or a sickness that they would never wish to be cured of. It offers aid, but you start using it more and more. Dooku struck out with it to help people here, but it is a slippery slope, and you saw how that slope ended in Revenge of the Sith.

    Regarding the Dark Side, Luke used the force choke in Return of the Jedi. That didn’t automatically make him a villain. Mace Windu as well has canonically used powers more associated with the dark side. I feel that the various force abilities aren’t inherently good or bad, what matters is how they are used.

    • @darrenlgreen
      @darrenlgreen ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Isn't there some debate about whether or not Luke actually used force choke? But I agree with you. Though I would think it is probably the intent behind using the powers. Someone can have the ability to do something, but it doesn't make the ability good or bad. If it is done out of fear and anger, than it is a path to the Dark Side.

    • @PerovNigma
      @PerovNigma ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I imagine if you were very careful with your timing and pressure, you could use Force Choke as a way to render an opponent unconscious.

      @chrissonofpear1384 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PerovNigma True, and I'd be tempted to frighten this senator the same way, myself.
      As I see it, the Dark Side is addictive, like in a feedback loop, and also wants to be used, to spread itself.
      At full expression it practically 'possesses' a Sith Lord, hence the yellow eyes, but they still have to be willing to channel the destructive power and use it, not always aware of how far they'll end up going - a sort of reckless abandon, after a point.
      Whilst the Light Side, or the balanced Force as a whole, has a will too, but hard to understand, or relate to, often?
      That's where it gets murkier. A desire for calm and harmony, it's inferred. The more cosmic it gets though, the less understandable.

    The storyline and characters that will be in the Ahsoka series are from Rebels, so it's probably vital to watch that show first.
    Like CW, the first season of Rebels is a bit...kiddy. but starting season two, the story becomes very adult and, by the end of the five seasons, it's AMAZING.
    The series gets into the mysteries of the Force and how even the Jedi don't know what they don't know. And they don't know a lot.
    Also, major characters (besides Ahsoka) from CW continue their journeys in Rebels.

    When Obi_wan is held captive by Dooku in Attack of The Clones, he references having been Qui-gon's master. I believe it was fairly known that Dooku was going to be a character featured in Tales of The Jedi, as was Ashoka in the lead-up to the airing of the show. And most people recognized Dooku's distinct lightsaber and fighting style and voice. Nothing wrong with being caught off guard by it. Thats part of what is enjoyable about watching someone experience the Universe for the first time. As some others have said, Rebels is expected to play a significant role in The Ashoka Series, and Potentially The Mandolorian and any other Series that is live action that falls into that time period. Ashoka name dropped a major character from Rebels in an Episode she was in of The Mandolorian.

    The "Darkside of the Force" is about a state-of-MIND and *Emotion* that arises either one's own from Fear, ANGER or just hate, and how twisting the USE of the FORCE for *malefic purposes* that is fuel by that person anger or hate or irrational levels of fear.
    Using a Force Choke doesn't "corrupt" a person, any more than using fire makes out an Arsonist, it's HOW and WHY it (the tool, or ability, or even the Force) is used, *the intent*. Just as Luke used a Force Choke to only stun or deter but not kill the Gamorean guard at the entrance of Jabba's palace, Luke was calm and not felling fear, hate or anger....
    If the intent is to hurt or kill out of Anger or Hate then that can be a "slippery slope" toward giving in to one's own "Darkside" of being enraptured by one's own fear, hate and anger....

I grew up on Star wars since the 80's and even I still don't know everything, or even forget things sometimes. Your analysis on the Dark Side is actually pretty accurate. The more someone taps in to it, the more they can't NOT use it, which is why Yoda stated in the original trilogy "once you start down the Dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny". Although it turned out that it WAS in fact possible to turn away from it, it's just rather difficult.
    In addition to that, it also clouds the judgement of those not well trained in it, as we saw with Anakin in Revenge of The Sith.

    This explains why Ahsoka is brought into war at such an early age, her Tagrutan upbringing prepares her better for death than other cultures. Also, a force sensitive child growing up around non force sensitves and not being taught discipline could go horribly wrong, children are cruel to those who are different and imagine that difference being something that would allow the picked on to retaliate in such an unfair way. It's logical to bring force sensitives to a place where they can be supervised and taught properly. Also, watch Rebels first, it's very important to the premise of the Ahsoka series.

Absolutely loved your reaction to Dooku’s padawan was revealed to be Qui-Gon not many star wars fans know that as it was only said in a brief line Attack of the Clone but it really fleshed out the relationship of Dooku and Qui-Gon more. It shows Dooku was a idealistic good man at one point he wanted to do good as a Jedi but the Jedi’s connection to politics and its corruption hindered his efforts its why he’s got an extreme view of things and is all in when he is focused on his goal. Which is where Qui-Gon contrasts him Qui-Gon never used violence unless it was an absolute last resort he always was diplomatic first sought peaceful solutions with what he had in the moment freeing the boy so that he could save his father from being killed by Dooku in the hope his master wouldn’t kill an innocent boy the lesson seems to have effected Dooku who not only praises Qui-Gon for his actions but commends him for being wiser than he was. Dooku is known to proud and arrogant so for him to say this to his apprentice says a lot of his character.

    Great reaction! Please, do speak your mind, we love hearing your take on these stories! I'm there with you, like a drug, the Dark Side is the easier, faster path, but soon it will consume you.

    FYI Liam Neeson's son voiced the young QGJ. Only SWs geeks 🤓 would know Dooku does have a distinctive lightsaber hilt its very bent & his style of fighting is like fencing. In real life Christopher Lee did fence. You forgot it was brief in AOTC when OWK was captured & chained on Geonosis Dooku mentioned QGJ was his former padawan. Great reaction.

    I don't think it's canon that Jedi can never use the Dark Side at all without being corrupted. Luke legit Force Choked the hell out of those Gamorrean Guards at Jabba's Palace in "Return of the Jedi" and I think it's still canon that Mace Windu is such a powerful lightsber duelist because he uses a very complicated style of fighting that uses anger and enjoyment of the battle but manages to skirt falling to the Dark Side, so not many Jedi master that technique because they'd rather not risk it, but Mace Windu never runs the risk of being corrupted because he's in full control of his emotions at all times when fighting, even if he's harnessing his aggressive feelings deliberately. Anakin himself did many Dark Side-y things over the years in Episode II and Clone Wars before he finally fell and became corrupted. I think you're right in your view that, since it's explained as "the quick and easy path," it's bound to feel increasingly more convenient and the more you use it the more you risk corruption. I remember a scene in the original no-longer-canon sequel novels where Luke uses the Force to confuse the pilots of several TIE fighters during a space dogfight to allow himself and the rest of the X-Wing pilots to beat them, and later he reflects upon it and decides that it wasn't cool at all and that the risked the Dark Side if he did stuff like that again, so he chooses to never take that "quick and easy path" in a future battle.

    I think you have time to watch Rebels, but if you don't i wouldn't worry if you're wanting to watch Ashoka as it releases. You know who she is, I imagine that's more than plenty will have watching it.

    Tales of the Jedi is great, I want more. I think they should do a similar show for the Sith. People threw around “tales of the Sith” I don’t like that all. I think a Sith centric show in this style should be “legends of the Sith” it’s about ego. Jedi aren’t supposed to have egos like that. While the Sith. Have massive egos.

    Excellent reactions. Once you've finished this series I'd definitely recommend the obiwan series next to keep to the story line and then I'd watch rebels and then the original series. But I'd say when mandalorian season 3 comes put watch them. You're already on track with it.
