@@JifferRiffic You have to use the goggles. You can add any reciever you like and use any controller supporting that reciever. But the air unit also support the dji controller. Then you don’t need any extra reciever. In short air unit is both vtx and reciever in one.
If you would use a dampened sponge to clean the soldering tip after a few connections you'll get better connections without globs of solder. Also, use a liquid flux pen or soldering rosin paste on the circuit board pads and the solder will flow much, much easier without you having to use so much solder.
hm, I think you're not quite right. There is a proverb in Russia that greedy person pays twice. For example you decided to build first quad with analog video. So for now I'm hoarding money to buy DJI FPV system...I'm realy dreaming of it... But it cost as 4 my salarys... So I hope to hoard this some in a year... Or not to eat for 5 month))))
The DJI Air unit alone is US$179.00 so how you calculated 161$? These motors are bad. The bearings are the worst I ever had and the magnets become loose on 5-6s resulting in random crashes. Better take some cheap from T-Motor ! Greetings
Thanks very helpful but can you do a follow up video for total beginners that shows parts that you skipped, like extending the DJI cable (where did you get the extra cable?), attaching the xt60, attaching the capacitor to the xt60 (you said we would have been bored but i dont know why. If it really takes a long time, maybe do a timelapse or add voiceover to explain stuff), attaching the ESC to the frame, connecting the ESC to the FC, installing the motors on the frame, changing the motor spin orientation, setting up in betaflight. Also I thought i saw r3 and t3 toward the rear. Is there a reason you didnt use those instead for the DJI cable? Anyway this video did really well and i think this follow up would also do well.
you need a capacitor for xt60 to lower the noise aka voltage spikes which might cause interference with your quad's video and control or even damage your esc
Hey Sam, when can we seen a part two for this video about performance, flight times (and ways to get the most out with varying batteries), distance and with go pro on vs go pro lite on
Is it possible to receive a digital HD video on a screen without having to buy dji goggles? Like a module that outputs the video feed to hdmi or usb C to connect with your phone, pc or any other screen.
Do you have a more detailed video for installing the low noise stuff and the camera? I’ve never built one before and want to. But your video assumes a little experience building. Lol. Have anything like this for absolute beginners?
A zip tie and a piece of heat shrink or tubing can make a cable stand off. Slide a piece of tube 1/8” long or so on to zip tie, loop the tie back into the heat shrink, opposite direction as first. Kind of looks like an eight, attach where ever. 🤙
Hi, Do you have any video that showing how to build a drone that navigate by laser, for example, I target some point at the ground and the drone should land there? Thank you for eventually replay 😀
I found this o helpful for my 1st build and i am stuck now with the motors saying cc and ccw which order should i place it and also a 3d printed tpu for holding dji air unit can you please help out me sir?
I am new to fpv. I bought the Frsky radio and the receiver but I couldn't bind it to my radio through ACCESS protocol. And just after that I tried flashing Different firmware LBT or FCC. It still didnt work. Then I looked at the manual and online and it turns out these R9 mini OTA receivers are compatible with external module called R9M or R9M lite... cuz those are long range receivers up to 10km so needs external modules. I am learning myself just looking thro different yt videos or googling for answer😄😄
I also want to know why have used air unit instead of vista? Also for real I think that iflight 5 inch frames are much better and have more smart solutions for example motorwires protection, reciever holder and etc...
Hey man I want to get into this sport - what are good goggles and cheep ones and also what are good and cheap controller that I need which would fit the receiver etc.... please help haha
Drone Mesh I have been told that having the compassitor mounted on the battery plug the way you have it does little to stop power spikes, etc. Can you do a test to show how it helps mounted to the plug compared to mounting it on the ESC?? That's a nice quick easy build.
Ayyyy I’m building my next quad with the hifionrc f722 but they sent me the V2 version which doesn’t have the dual gyros but still super good for the price IMO

Agree I love those motors 😊😊 what’s your oppinion on Hard mounting fc? Fettec highly recommends for their fc.based on that I decided to get Glider hammer from Fpv Cycle and put esc between arms on 30x30 and FC above middle plate on 20x20 mounting :) (+ emi and fire isolation 🤷♂️)
LMAO @ and "that's what she said", you caught me off guard. I watched many of your vids today as I want to build a long range quad. maybe a 5 inch with lower KV motors and a light weight deadcat style frame. I have the r9m 2019 with the super 8 antenna and the R9 MX OTA ACCESS Long Range Receiver with Ipex4 T Antenna. Thanks for all videos as I have never used the r9m, set it up or built my own quad. Your videos give me the confidence to carry on and...gitt'er done.
Maybe I’m putting to much faith in you but... you seem to think out and test everything before you speak, most the time haha. I trust what you say. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the step-by-step walkthrough video! Just started getting into FPV drone building but I had a question about the build. Is there a specific capacitor that we need to connect to the XT60? I saw in the video that you used a 830uf 25V panasonic capacitor but I was only able to find 820uf 25V capacitors. Will that make a difference? Thanks again!
when you soldered the motors onto the board because there's 3 wires do they have to be in a specific config, or does it not matter as long as you solder them to their corresponding sections?
in part two, can you please experiment with the battery setup to maximise flight time and also test range (mid range cinematic fpv with DJI unit at 20min+ flight time would be duh dream)

Your Thumbnail is miss leading!! The DJI Air Unit alone is more the $161.00. I call click bait in this video!
Yep, click bait like this gets a thumbs down even though I enjoyed the video. Can't support this kind of blatant click bait.
The quality of this video is just absolutely lit
Beautiful build, Sam! 😃
Looking forward to the flight video!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I did this build, but with Xing E-2208 1700KV. great FC, shame no Inav target. All the 5v pads I used are powered by the USB, which is nice.

I was thinking the same thing! Freaking click bait video. SMH
Or even the iflight xing e line. Thosr are pretty dang good for a budget motor
I like the racerstars man.
Old school!
Do you have an updated version of this for 2022 / 2023???
THATS AWSOME!

Can you make a video on your main basher style quad? Please 🙏

I was looking for the exact same thing.
So if I were to buy the Air unit with the controller, i would be able to skip adding that additional receiver?
Noob question here. It looks like the solder points on each pad of the ESC are slightly touching each other. Doesn't this impact the signals?
Is it possible to receive a digital HD video on a screen without having to buy dji goggles? Like a module that outputs the video feed to hdmi or usb C to connect with your phone, pc or any other screen.
Do a top of the line DJI build as well!
So if you had the dji remote you wouldn’t need to add a receiver?
Solder wick will remove unwanted solder.
Liquid or paste Flux would be helpful as well.
A demo would have made this an excellent video.
Do you have a more detailed video for installing the low noise stuff and the camera? I’ve never built one before and want to. But your video assumes a little experience building. Lol. Have anything like this for absolute beginners?
Does the drone have live feed to a phone? Or pc?

Could you do a video on how exactly you chose components and check for compatibility for a given build? That would be huge! Thanks
I have done videos like that however I can revisit. How are you searching for this topic so I can position the videos tittle correctly.

Thanks for the drone content! +subscribed
Do you have a video about setup? You go from build to flying but there are way more steps binding ect.
what did you solder the capacitor and the battery cables too its hard to see it in the video??????
I have the same frame and I think the 20cm replacement cable for air unit is mandatory, else the cable introduces vibrations
Yeah nice 😉
