    Hello!
I am complete newbee at flight controllers and I have got some questions:
--- can these be used in a 6 or 8 motor config?
--- can I program these in a similar way like arduinos or microcontrollers?
--- can they automatically lock to a given hight and also keep away from obstacles?

Very nice video, but I do think you should've said something about having to consider parameters like weight in consideration of what your goal is with the quad. Freestyle, racing, cinewhooping, tinywhooping. Some styles of flying or drones, might require different weight classes or shapes perhaps.

I appreciate the hard work in putting this together, but I didn’t understand any of these: Micro controller, f4/7, processor, memory, beta flight, e7, subs, ibus, inverted, Uninverted, pad, rx pad, 4 in 1 esc, chip, 2-6s, frame, does every flight controller go with any esc? Receiver? I’m confused as to what any of these mean, after a while I drifted off as this video is NOT for beginners as I got lost very quickly

I am looking for a Flight Controller for my bigger 650 drone and really dont want to buy another pixhawk, as I really dont like that firmware and software, at all. Would love to be able to use betaflight actually. Does anyone know if any of these controllers will actually be able to support one servo motor? Meaning I basically need a PWM signal output there. on/off.. very basic. But i dont see this functionality in any of these.

Hi @DroneMesh, I'm new to the racing drone scene, I just bought a drone kit from Facebook marketplace in New Zealand. It was for $30NZD which was hard to miss, like I mentioned, I'm new to this and I know nothing. I saw the photos and it was not assembled, all I know is that it is the rip off version of the ZMR250 drone, "Mystery H250 drone", came with 4x DYS 10A ESC, 4x DYS BE1806 2300 KV motor and a OpenPilot CC3D Flight controller. I know the electronic is ancient, but I'm on a budget and since it is my first one, i just wanna learn to fly first and get a hang of it. I watched videos and I know I need a PDB for this, RX/TX and Li-Po. Do you recommend sticking with what I have now and upgrade to a better one later? I was looking at the FRSky X9Lite Tx and R-XSR Rx for controls and I know it can be used on a different model after upgrading. Main question is, what do I need to get or do to get the drone running? I know I will be getting the bug of getting a better one like the Diatone with Stack F7's. And for this build, I'm not looking at having FPV cam or any sort. Just to fly with current ancient setup. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Cheers DM

I've been hearing about some DJI HD boards having overheating issues when powering the DJI air unit and causing freezing and loss of video. Specifically with the Matek F722 HD. Do you have any thoughts on this or have any findings? Is it more reliable to power DJI from an external BEC connected to the 4in1 ESC battery leads where the capacitor is soldered?

Awesome informative vids. Im an airplane pilot looking to get into building my own cinematic drone & ur vids are very informative & thorough but not too overwhelming either. I have a few questions if u dont mind answering.
    1. When u use the DGI flight controller is it essentially the same as flying a mavik when it comes to features and in some regards, flight characteristics?
    2. Using DJI flight controller as an example, can you use the DJI fly software? What do people typically use on their smart phones to control their drones? Or do they use the RC controller mostly?
    3. Im having trouble understanding the difference between cinematic drones & and fpv drones. I want to use my drone for photography so i like the gps/programmable functions that dji mavik cinematic drones offer, but i like the sporty features & speeds that FPV seems to have Is it possible to build a drone which is both fpv & cinematic which uses gps and i can program to fly certain way points and do specific things like take a panoramic shot, or orbit something and film video?
    4. If i want to do flips & tricks do i need to go FPV or can cinematic drones do them too? The only experience i have with drones so far is the dji mini 2 and it doesnt do anything fancy in terms of tricks, and at 30mph id hardly consider that fast. It takes great photos/video though and has amazing range.
    5. I really like the idea of building a drone based around an raspberry pi. Ive heard of something called pix hawk. Is that a whole completely different beast alogether then what you’re dealing with here? Id love to see a video on pix hawk drones that use an LTE connection and RC conroller so i dont ever worry about losing reception/ interference. If u have any good info on pixhawk pls share!
    Thanks so much. !!

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I can reply to some of your questions:
      2. Self-made drones are mostly controlled by remote controllers, smartphones can be used as video displays only.
      5. Raspberry Pi might be heavy for many drones and because it has very powerful CPUs, it may consume more energy than other flight controllers based on STM32 microcontroller. For LTE you need also a sim card and data contract with an operator, you need to pay a data packet or pay the bill monthly. If you control the drone over LTE, then it might not be "real-time" anymore unlike RC controller. Because LTE latency is high in comparison to RC controllers.

Very informative video! I think it will definitely help out many people getting into the hobby in the near future. One thing I believe you didn't mention, though I don't believe needs much coverage, is that if someone purchases a frame that has mounting holes for either a 20x20 stack or 30x30 stack, which size of stack should they go for. I guess this would better fall under ESC selection, because the ESC in the stack probably matters more depending on the particular build, but would you not get more features on a 30x30 stack compared to a similarly priced 20x20 stack?
