  • Join us as we sew the the Tamarack Jacket! We originally released the Tamarack Jacket back in 2016 and it has now been drafted in our 14-30 size range. We've also released a collar, hood & patch pockets add-on to help you create the quilted jacket of your dreams.
    During this series we'll cover all aspects involved in creating your own Tamarack Jacket. From fabric selection, help with batting, to quilting best practices and assembly, we're covering everything!
    In today's lesson we start by discussing how to properly choose a size. We then move onto some of my top tips for making adjustments to your pattern, followed by a demo on a few of the most common pattern adjustments.
    You can purchase the Tamarack Jacket pattern as well as the Collar, Hood & Patch Pockets Add-On on our website here: grainlinestudio.com/collectio...

    Love all your videos and your detailed instructions, and I’m thinking of buying your patterns for the Tamarack jacket and hood. I’m a quilter and this will be my first garment. I usually struggle to buy a jacket that the sleeves are wide enough for my arms. I think I’ll be making either size 8 or 10. How would I widen the sleeves on the Tamarack pattern?

      It depends how much you need to add. We have the bicep measurements on the pattern so I would start by comparing the bicep measurement of a jacket that fits you well to the finished measurements on the Tamarack. You can email us at help@grainlinestudio.com if you find you need to add to the width and we'll be happy to assist!

    Thank you for your videos. I do have a question. I am not sure which size to buy of your Tamarack jacket. My busy is 39.5 and my over the bust measurement is 36.5. Should I be getting the 0-18 or 14-20 size? I am a bit confused since the difference is 3 inches, C cup by your video, but you only mention D cup. Can you guide me to the correct pattern size and let me know if I need to change the bust dart. Thank you in advance.

    Thank you very much for all these videos! I can't wait to make mine 😊One question: My bust is a Size 4 but the other measurements are a Size 10. Can I just use the pattern for Size 10? Garment patterns scare me and I don't want to mess with them if I don't have to 😅

      I don't think it should be a big problem to use the same size, though it might be a little big up top. We do cover blending between sizes if you feel like making the jump into light alterations!

    At 17:25, the difference in upper bust and full bust is 4 inches, but the chart shows the difference as 2". Is this a typo, or is the other 2" taken into account elsewhere?

    Maybe a stupid question, but, how do you do a bust adjustment without a dart and no bust point printed on the pattern size 0-18

    • @GrainlineStudioSewing
      @GrainlineStudioSewing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a stupid question at all! What I do is either make a quick muslin and mark my bust point and transfer it to the pattern or you can align the pattern piece with your body and mark it there. That way you have your bust placement and you won't need to further adjust after you've done the adjustment!

    Me again, I remeasured myself and my bust is 39 inches and the above the bust measurement is 36, so there is a 3 inch difference. I don't know which of your pattern sizes to purchase, the 0 - 18 or the 14 to 30 (the one with the bust dart) and if so will I need to enlarge or make the bust dart smaller. Please help. I have watched the video several times regarding size but because I am just 3 inches difference I am unclear which pattern to buy.
    Thank you in advance

      Hi Natalie - It will probably be easier to take out of the 14-30 since there's already a dart placed. You can also see which of the finished measurements for the bicep and hip correspond with your own measurements better and that will give an idea of which pattern would be best. Happy to help further if needed & you can always email us for pattern support at help@grainlinestudio.com
