I learned from many days of sewing binding around a curve like the pocket has, that as you see the curve you need to ease in a little extra binding. That's because the binding has a farther distance to go than the stitching line. This helps to avoid "cupping" of the binding. I suggest practice, practice first on a scap pocket!

No way I can afford it either - but I am going to try quilting my own, or I will look for a second hand quilt to repurpose!

I also suggest sewing the binding to the top of the pocket after sewing the longer edge. That makes for a more attractive pocket.

Hi Sally! Great to see you on the Minerva platform. Terrific tutorial and the end result is beautiful. I'm just wondering though, if you sewed up this Tamarack as a sample for Minerva or is this also for you to wear? The reason I ask is because the finished jacket seems massively large compared to your petite frame and you didn't include a photo of you wearing it. I've been putting off getting this pattern as I have seen it look so big in other photos I've seen on social media. Could you give your opinion on the pattern sizing, please? Thank you!

Yes, I posted a similar comment and she suggests going to the website to see other people’s makes. Would’ve been simpler just to put the thing on.

Hi! Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed the tutorial. I sewed it as a sample so it wasn’t for me and that’s why I didn’t include a photo this time 😊 x

It would really help to see how the finished garment looks on you. It looked very over-sized when you held it next to you.

I have purchased some of this quilted fabric in the Boudoir Bouquet design to make a similar jacket, but from a different designer.

Fantastic tutorial, just a shame that the fabric is really over priced £42.99 a metre😮

When you think about it, there are 2 lots of cotton sateen fabric - £20 per meter plus the wadding, so if you were to buy all the components and quilt it yourself, probably wouldn't work out much cheaper. Of course if you used cheaper fabric to start with, then the cost would be lower.

@@sharonscott8358 I think I can buy cotton sateen for cheaper than £20 per metre and wadding you can get for a very decent price. To buy top name brands is around £16.99 a metre

Hi there! Thank you for your comment! If you wish to sew this up in a different quilted fabric or maybe one you have quilted yourself we would fully encourage it - We'd love to see your makes regardless of fabric used 😊
