I hate this armor every one who uses it always plays passive and is annoying in every way they can be.
5:35 wild strikes sets your poise to 180 (i.e. doesnt use armor poise) and also resets the poise reset timer
most of the poise/hyper armor from skills work like that and set your poise to like 200-500
edit: also to elaborate on this after some testing, wild strikes sets 180 poise every time the animation fully loops with the right-to-left swing, which is why you didn't stagger from multiple lance light attacks (normally ~101 poise damage)
Hand of malenia poise must be something like 3000

@@thesaviorofsouls5210 yep. regular attacks on anything as big or bigger than a greatsword and a few unique skills will use a modifier for armor poise, but all ashes of war with hyper armor set the poise value independently.
@@Emreakca- only 120. normally the highest poise from skills is 500, except for the first attack in bloodblade dance (eleonora's poleblade) which apparently cant be poise broken at all.

Fun fact about this axe is that when you use Barbaric Roar on it, the special heavy attack can fully combo. Some dude made a video on it, just a neat little thing
I would LOVE to see Chase try out some details like this. I also strongly feel like he should equip a medium shield in the left hand- it makes a big difference when dueling with a light axe.

To be fair- barbaric roar changes the heavy for every weapon that is able to use it. More or less the heavy does the same for every other weapon that uses it

I doubt that host has beaten a single bit of the game on his own. Not like he was ever winning verse Chase.
Barbaric roar with this thing is nuts. Roar talisman, the charged and uncharged r2 is a true combo and deals like 1300 to 1600 damage. Near instant hyperarmor. Throw on the axe talisman (it charges very fast) and one shot.

For axes I love running a whip in my left hand as they’re pretty good for adding range and attacks come out fast

@@khalidpapa6299 I think Giants Red Braid is the best for str scaling but I prefer hoslows petal whip as it has blood loss proc, I also like the thorned whip, and the urumi which are both 10 scaling, urumis heavy is thrust damage also which is a fun mix up
Giants braid is a boss weapon tho so up to you but might not be the easiest to be attainable from early on

There's a greataxe that drops from the undeads, really cool dmg and has crit modifier
2:20 I think you can tank the fire from the flame strike, but only if you didn’t receive poise damage before.
It does exactly 100 poise damage

something worth noting is that even though most of the warped axe moveset isn't fast the second hit in it's combo chain comes out very fast which makes it especially good in trading or baiting in opponents on a whiffed running or jump attack

You should try the magma blades! They’re a bit of a grind to get, but definitely a cool and unique looking weapon, with a different version of spinning slash as the ash of war.

Would be cool to see a showcase of "Golden Epitaph", the sword scales with Str, Dex and Faith
an extra fun thing about this axe is that it has the status application of great axes and great hammers. so it applies frost way faster than the other axes or hammers
For a next axe use the Stormhawk axe. Very good kind of unique weapon art. ⚡️ 🌩
Also for note at 5:33 Wild strikes gets a bit of hyperarmor, so that’s why you didn’t get poise broken, as you weren’t in a passive poise break state.
As soon as I saw the Stormhawk axe, I told myself that I was gonna duel-wield two of them. Lo and behold, There's a second one in Castle Sol. The powerstance moveset is kinda bad for PvP, but duel wielding them is fun as flashy as hell.
Running the storm hawk on my quality build for pvp. The ash of war is amazing for tanking out squads in pvp. Guaranteed three hits for 1200
@@D.H.1082 Nepheli Loux also drops two at the end of her quest, or if you burn the roundtable while she’s inside, so you can get a total of four per playthrough XD
Ambush shard and a few other spells are actually effected by the arrow range talisman. It basically triples the ambush shards range
The Ornamental straight swords have a really cool Ash of war which gives a holy dmg buff and unique 2 handed moveset.
For the next showcase i'd like to ask for the grafted dragon, I use it as a side weapon on my dragon themed character, it makes an excellent weapon to pair with a seal on spell heavy builds & a fast secondary for Str/Fth builds that use use colossal weapons.
Use the Greatstars! It's healing per hit and passive blood loss build makes it a tanky weapon that can do big damage with any AoW on any build
Chase, once you get around to Baemore, you should try using Piercing Fang on it. Is kind of a hidden gem if you know how to time it and trade with it!
The wild strikes has insane hyper armor itself, with bullgoat that can pretty much tank an ultra probably
Raptors of the Mist on the curved swords is pretty sick actually. Basically the same as the twin blades with the jump attack.
Would love to see a Cleanrot Spear showcase. Really interesting ash of war, seems like it'd work well for roll catching.
The iron cleaver that drops from misbegotten in morne (and probably other places) has a unique heavy that sounds like it could be fun in pvp
Just started using the omen cleaver with sword dance (faith scaling) and it slaps hard, waiting to see if that gets a showcase as it would be hilarious to see someone who's actually good at pvp use it.
When you use buffs and have high poise wild strikes low key becomes one of the best ashes of war for damage output in PvE
Miquellan Knight's Sword is really fun but I'm biased towards straight swords. The heavy attack into sacred blade combo is good at roll catching/trading.
Thanks for the axe showcase :)! I always use axes and I feel like the weapon you showcased works better powerstanced with Barbaric Roar! Insane combo and savage looks as well. For 2 handers I feel like the Crescent Moon Axe looks best, has good range and insane R2! Thanks for the video chase :)
I like the look of the bull goat gloves and the legs aren't bad either, the body armor is good looking too and it even has that fur loincloth which is sick. But the two big horns really kill the look of the chest for me and ironically they're what make the armor the bull goat armor lol

Really enjoying your showcases. Have you done any bleed builds? I’m currently running the serpent bone blade, venomous fang, and coil shield and it silly fun. Sometime unnecessarily challenging but fun lol. I’d like to see your take on a poison build.

I couple this with the Gargoyle's Greataxe in offhand, hits like a truck an has some good rollcatch opportunities, sick weapons
It's so cool trying to mix and match certain weapons to different ashes of war in this game. You can take an underwhelming weapon type (like axe) and make a viable and fun build using the right stats, equipment. and ashes. I've been playing around with having multiple instances of the same weapon but having different ashes of war on each. It's fun to mix things up by hard-swapping for a surprise ash of war attack.
Giant crusher with lions claw, trolls roar or the normal earthshaker are great, I'd recommend you try them for future showcase
One weapon I LOVED my first playthrough was the brick hammer. Near the end of the game got a buddy to drop me a second and I dual wielded the greathammer and just bonked everything away. Heavy scaling makes the weapon S rank for strength scaling as well so that was nice I threw on 60-70 strength to take full advantage of that
Heavily recommend checking out the Morning Star. Maybe the only usable Hammer in the game, along with the Nox Flowing Hammer. It has thrusting attacks on its roll/crouch R1s and running R2s that have a ton of forward momentum - you can roll catch with the crouch R1 if you follow up a stun with it. It also has innate Bleed, so making it Occult on an Arcane build makes it really potent.
You really have to use it by itself since the dual Hammer moveset is kind of lacking, but a shield works well to cover the lack of range.
I recommend using the Mantis Blade for a showcase. Can use ash of war too
love these showcases. Have you tried the guardian swordspear yet?
barbaric roar ash of war plus the warped axe gives it a true combo on the heavy attack, works on fist weapons too !

Poisonous Mist in the Great Stars hammer is great because it heals you each time you attack and it heals you continuously if someone stands in the mist. Blood affinity with Poisonous Mist is great since you can use the ash to enchant your weapon with poison without putting the poison affinity. 🔨⭐
Never thought I’d see the day chase in Bull goat
Might use braggart's roar on some of these STR weapons. It increases your stam regen and defense a bit upon the normal warcry buff which is also upgraded. It's really useful and fun to use against people who don't expect the follow up which has been 1107 on the highland axe with 60 str for me 😬
That was the coolest blue I've ever seen. Actually pretty good at the game, was able to dodge Chase's earthshaker almost every time, and even bowed when the host died. Overall 9/10 a total bro

Lol dodging earthshaker with BHS doesn't take much "ability", nor does spamming crouch poke on GS, but hey, it's meta
Dodging with bloodhound step is not noteworthy. Was also a major panic roller.

The gank to end was classic. Friends die and all of the bravery fades away.
Since you like science, in the first duel, while you did get poise broken by the Flaming Strike, you had already been hit once by him, so your poise health was relatively low. I'm not familiar enough with the twinblade moveset to know what he hit you with, so I don't know how much poise damage it did, and I don't think, but am not sure, if Spinning Slash gives any hyper armor, so you might still be able to tank a Flaming Strike at full poise health. You'd know the specifics of the other stuff better than me, though. Wild Strikes in particular has some good hyper armor, and since Bullgoat's Talisman technically doesn't raise your poise, but reduces incoming poise damage, hyper armor is also amplified through the talisman's effects, which is why you didn't get stunned by the Lance. Now that I'm later in the video I see you realized the Flaming Strike thing I already typed, but I'll just leave it there for anyone reading this who might want a little more detail to what went on.
Loving these videos even if I'm never going to personally use an axe. Keep it up, man.
The Butcher's Knife works really well with wild strikes since you get a heal from each hit with that weapon.
That ambush staircase in Sol with Earthshaker is always a savage trap.
Chase, since the axe gets an S scaling in Strength, you might consider (even just in your off-time) an alternate build where you take just enough Faith for Flame, Grant me Strength and imbuing the axe with Fire, with +Fire and +Strength in your Physick flask. Going all the way to 25 for Golden Vow is probably not worth it, unless you're willing to completely sacrifice your Poise options. Because of the multiplicative nature of buffs and Ashes of War, that'd probably serve you better than this setup when using Ashes of War, but not as well for ordinary combat, due to split AR and Fire resistance being more prevalant than Lightning - but it's rare you get a pure S with no other scalings at all, so it could be worth using Fire anyway!
Nice drip, you should totally change armors to fit each weapon showcase in the future!

This weapon is one of my 5 main Strength weapons , I founded out that it works best with raptor of the mists .. but yes it does need a BullGoat armor even though I never use it .. hate that noob Armor set .
Hey chase whenever you get around to fighting with a great hammer of some kind you should try duel wielding them.
I have a lot of success with them just swinging and then slightly delaying my second attack so we trade while they try to come in for the punish.
Hey Chase can you try the Rosus' Axe? The one where the ash of war is 3 skeletons that slash their swords. I think it's super weird and would be so hard in PVP to use lol
I use this as my secondary with the Celebrants Cleaver.
It's better damage wise, but the Celebrants Cleaver has a very interesting Charge Attack I dub the "Dead By Daylight Swing" its a decent poise running attack complemented by the fast light swings and decent damage. I typically use Flaming Strike with it to make it a decent mid range weapon.
Hope I get to see you try the Celebrants Cleaver sometime!

That fight you had with no intelligence was beautiful chase. He was getting smarter and you were adapting to his timing; of course it has to be the host to screw it all up. Loving the high level combat in this game.

As long as chase forgets to mix his flask I'm happy. Also the first guy was using flame of the redmanes which does massive poise damage, fourth guy was flame strike which does much less.

Hyped to see weapons like this and colossal hammers, I find them so sub optimal I wanna see if there’s something I’m missing or what and only our lord chase will unlock their true potential
Colossals and great hammers/axes can be amazing with a good build. You saw the great stars almost proc poison in a hit right? Same with frost or bleed. They’re just not fast weapons and the timing has to be right, but once that clicks you can get some very satisfying hits

You should try dual Bandits curved swords, one ice, one fire (flaming strike) are extremely good.
Grossmesser is better since it looks better and has more range. A bit more damage too. Thicc scimitars all the way!

Bull Goat with wild strikes is almost as broken as RoB. Enjoyable as always
about wild strikes im pretty sure it has infinite poise. cause I used like 22 poise armor against radagon and just tanked 4 hits without being staggered.
My brother had noticed this axe as a strong strength weapon early in our first playthrough. I started using it and then started seeing TH-camrs noticing it. Such a great weapon. My brother's got such an eye for good weapons even at low levels.
