you mean the crazy high damage meta. If you want good defenses you're bound to focus your defense type on whatever your opponent is using, which people won't bother

The nice thing about the warped axe is that even blood infused it still has insane strength scaling and AR so spinning slash just turns you into a heavy hitting bleed tornado.
Axes so nice, Chase highlights them twice.

Been having way too much fun with curved swords lately. If you do the charged r2 backflip cancel that all CS’s have, and then hit R1, you do a back step lunge attack! Never knew this. So what I’m saying is you can look like an absolute ninja and it’s actually effective, people don’t expect the range from the R1 after the backflip. I’m loving it
I was playing with thrusting swords today, and found you can do the R2 cancel, and then an L1 lunge attack if you have them powerstanced! Probably works on curved swords too
Even pre-patch, the Warped Axe and the Iron Cleaver were outstanding weapons in their class (the Warped Axe especially with it's stats somewhat resembling greataxe stats, indicating that it was originally meant to be a Greataxe). I would actually like to see what you can do with underrated options like the Hand Axe, Highland Axe, or Battle Axe.

battle axe is just useless when warped exists cus it gets outclassed in every way
@@bbyponk Yeah I know. Even the Highland Axe outclasses it I think. If it just did more raw damage, it would have a niche, but it's just the "regular" option with average damage and weight. So it just doesn't have anything to offer. There's a lot of weapons like that, but at least they are usually the lightest in their class. Not true for the Battle Axe.

Ooh! Crescent Moon Greataxe! I loved that thing even before this buff. I’d always pair it up with with the Great Epee. Those were good times.
I'm a little salty, but I've seen "We Duel Before" - that dude was ganking in that tiny room before Rykard - 3v1 and he pulls out the Mohg spear. (Sorry for the public hate mail...)
With how powerful spinning slash is now, and with other multi-ashes of war being viable, it feels a lot like the focus on combo weapons we saw in DKS3.
Eruption is very strong. Stuns for two and has very high HA(not sure if super armor but it does tank jumping heavys from big weapons).
It might become a really targeted meta over time, but the variety right now seems really nice.
Im really glad Chase is enjoying this new patch, I love it as well and happy to see alot of people online trying different builds
The player count is actually tanking since this patch was released
@@KingDerek58 Yeah and according to Steam Charts the player count is holding nice and steady realitvely to the last few months since April. A huge spike in July which is real neat. Not every patch will make everyone happy, ya gotta take bits and pieces from each one and find what makes you happy!
@@KingDerek58 That could have more to do with the lack of new content, rather than the patch itself, people are probably just logging off until the DLC drops.
I mean, that’s what I’m doing.

@@KingDerek58 damn, well from what I can see it seems like the patch is pushing the gameplay closer to how it was back in DS3, I’m happy with that.
I still think DS3 was the height of souls pvp so I appreciate the return to form, now if we could only get covenants back…
Axes are nice. Definitely could use fire power to complement it. However, fire incantations and magic are sometimes are not really viable, especially for non-hybrid builds, but fortunately, with little investment in faith, we have the FP-efficient, ever-scorching fire from St. Trina's torch.
This update feels amazing. You should try out the magma blade
I love the almost DS3 level of enthusiasm lately from Chase with the new patch, makes me want to get back into pvp again.

love the showcase. If offered both the cut and uncut versions of your invasions i would always opt for the uncuts - i enjoy seeing the whole process even if you think it's boring stuff you cut i prefer to see things start to finish. Keep up the awesome invasions!

My last playthrough was with Greataxes and Axes and I already thought they were super underrated. Glad to hear there is now going to be more Axe bros.
Also I'm not a super huge fan of PVP but it does make me happy the devs are listening to what the community wants

Ive been so happy with this patch im actually able to pvp with a solo spear with storm assault. Do sword and board or axe and board uts been a blast ☺️

The gank at academy gate was there all day and was a 3 man for most of that, absolute hell to fight and that host was cancerous.

I think the buff to crit damage is a nerf in tangent to dual-wield builds, since the high active frames make them easier to parry. Am I imagining that?

I’ve been enjoying using Godfrey’s axe (Not an “axe” but eh) with a light roll and the buffed r2’s hyper armor surprises a lot of people. They probably see someone shirtless and assume it’s an easy r1 spam which usually ends in a free trade for me
Bolt of Gransax is a beauty. It slaps pretty hard and the ash of war is pretty economical for the damage it gives.

I’ve always thought axes were cooler than swords and this update is just what I needed .
Do you think Dragonbolt blessing is more viable this patch against psss, ps katana, dual nagi, off-stoc? I know people will abuse lightning damage but I feel like I’m certain situations this buff really mitigates the meta. Thoughts?

I like trying out different builds but I always find I'm short on smithing stones since i started a strength build. Is there a way to farm them or will I have to suck it up and do ng+ multiple times to get the variety of weapons strength users can use leveled up? @ lvl 104 right now and thinking of stopping at 125 for the build
Go collect all the smithing and somber stone smithing bells,then u can buy infinite amounts😉
